Graphical A new soluble CsPbX 3 precursor to in-situ prepare luminescent CsPbX 3 nanocrystal film in the air readily was designed. The composition of the CsPbX 3 NCs films can be tuned by changing the solution precursors, allowing obtaining a high color purity and a narrow emission width. Inorganic cesium lead halide perovskite nanocrystals are candidates for lighting and display materials due to their outstanding optoelectronic properties. However, the dissolution issue of perovskite nanocrystals in polar solvents remains a challenge for practical applications. Herein, we present a newly designed one-step spin-coating strategy to prepare a novel multicolor-tunable CsPbX 3 (X=Cl, Br, I) nanocrystal film, where the CsPbX 3 precursor solution was formed by dissolving PbO, Cs 2 CO 3 , and CH 3 NH 3 X into the ionic liquid n-butylammonium butyrate. The as-designed CsPbX 3 nanocrystal films show high color purity with a narrow emission width. Also, the blue CsPb(Cl/Br) 3 film demonstrates an absolute photoluminescence quantum yields (PLQY) of 15.6 %, which is higher than 11.7 % of green CsPbBr 3 and 8.3 % of red CsPb(Br/I) 3 film. This study develops an effective approach to preparing CsPbX 3 nanocrystal thin films, opening a new avenue to design perovskite nanocrystals-based devices for lighting and display applications.

Owing to their central roles in cellular signaling, construction, and biochemistry, collagen-collagen interactions, and collagen self-assembly have become a major focus of molecular design and synthetic biology. The well-ordered assembly of collagen molecules on mica has attracted extensive attention for its essential applications and studies on the self-assembly process as a model system. Although collagen assembly mediated by various ions on mica has been reported over these years, specific effects of transition metal ions in this field have never been deeply surveyed and discussed till now. In this work, type I collagen extracted from rat tail tendon by pepsin solubilization method was selected to explore the kinetic process and self-assembly characteristics. In the presence of Cu2+ and Zn2+ sulfates, the turbidity method was used to directly measure the kinetic process of collagen self-assembly and atomic force microscopy (AFM) was applied to observe the patterns of collagen self-assembly on mica. The results showed that the favorable properties of transition metal coordination (bonding strength, directionality, and reversibility) were helpful for increasing the collagen fibrillogenesis rate, and at different ion concentrations, Cu2+ and Zn2+ ions affected the interactions between collagen molecules and mica surface by destroying the hydration membranes on the surface of collagen molecules and the hydrogen bonds between the amino acid residues of collagen molecules. Circular dichroism (CD) analysis demonstrated that collagen had complete triple-strand conformation in the presence of Cu2+ and Zn2+. These results and analysis would be helpful for directing the patterns of collagen self-assembly on a solid surface and provide theoretical guidance for creating collagen-based high-performance materials and/or adding functionality in materials for various applications.

Dihydrotanshinone I (DHT) is a natural component in Salvia miltiorrhiza and has been widely researched for its multiple bioactivities. However, poor solubility and biocompatibility of DHT limit its desirable application for clinical purposes. Herein, DHT was encapsulated with bovine serum albumin (BSA) to enhance bioavailability. Compared to free DHT, DHT–BSA NPs (nanoparticles) showed an improved solubility in normal saline and increased protection against hydrogen peroxide–induced oxidative damage in PC12 cells. In addition, DHT–BSA NPs administered by intravenous injection displayed a significant efficacy in the middle cerebral artery occlusion/reperfusion models, without any impact on the cerebral blood flow. In summary, DHT–BSA NPs show an enhanced bioavailability compared with free DHT and a successful penetration into the central nervous system for stroke therapy, demonstrating their application potential in cardio–cerebrovascular diseases.

Acute myocardial infarction (AMI) is a major cause of death globally. Studies show that cardiac troponin I (cTnI) is an ideal serum biomarker for AMI diagnosis and its sensitive detection is of great value for the effective treatment of the disease. Here, a new electrochemical biosensor for sensitive and specific detection of cTnI is proposed based on the use of a multifunctional peptide-oligonucleotide conjugate . The conjugate is designed to consist of a peptide domain that can bind to cTnI with high specificity and a DNA domain that can mediate the templated growth of quantum dots (QDs) to serve as the source of signals. The presence of target cTnI leads to the recruitment of QDs onto magnetic beads, thereby producing a remarkable electrochemical response on screen-printed electrode. Experiential results show that the biosensor allows cTnI detection with a desirable sensitivity and specificity even in serum samples. The detection limit is calculated to be 0.42 pg/mL. More inspiringly, the biosensor is feasible for monitoring the drug-induced change of cTnI expression level on cardiomyocyte-like cells derived from mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs), opening a new way for investigating MSCs differentiation . Overall, the biosensor may provide a powerful tool for cTnI detection, which has great potential for practical use in cell biology research and clinical diagnosis.

Graphical Au(I)-thiolate nanosheets have been studied as new and efficient water-dispersible UV absorbents. UV screening is very important for the prevention of skin cancer and the elongation of the lifetime of organic/polymeric stuff. To overcome the main problems of poor hydrophilicity and easy leakage of organic UV absorbents, water-dispersible Au(I)-thiolate nanosheets have been studied as a new type of UV absorbents. The results show that Au(I)-thiolate nanosheets have i) very high molar absorption coefficients (>15000 mol/L . cm), ii) comparable or superior photostability to typical organic UV absorbents, and iii) high transparency and nearly no leakage in polymer matrix. So far, no other UV absorbents have been reported to have all the above good performances simultaneously. The transparent and colorless Au(I)-thiolate/polymer thin films can effectively block UV light, and such a material will surely extend the types and the application scenarios of UV absorbents.

Heparinase I (Hep I) specifically degrades heparin to oligosaccharide or unsaturated disaccharide and has been widely used in preparation of low molecular weight heparin (LMWH). In this work, a novel Hep I from Bacteroides eggerthii VPI T5-42B-1 was cloned and overexpressed in Escherichia coli BL21 (DE3). The enzyme has specific activity of 480 IU·mg−1 at the optimal temperature and pH of 30 °C and pH 7.5, and the Km and Vmax were 3.6 mg·mL−1 and 647.93 U·mg−1, respectively. The Hep I has good stability with t1/2 values of 350 and 60 min at 30 and 37 °C, respectively. And it showed a residual relative activity of 70.8% after 21 days incubation at 4 °C. Substrate docking study revealed that Lys99, Arg101, Gln241, Lys270, Asn275, and Lys292 were mainly involved in the substrate binding of Hep I. The shorter hydrogen bonds formed between heparin and these residues suggested the higher specific activity of BeHep I. And the minimum conformational entropy value of 756 J·K−1 provides an evidence for the improved stability of this enzyme. This Hep I could be of interest in the industrial preparation of LMWH for its high specific activity and good stability.

In this work, an Au–Ag alloy nanourchin (Au–Ag alloy NU) based electrochemiluminescent (ECL) sensor for the measurement of cardiac troponin I (cTnI) was developed. The as-prepared Au–Ag alloy NUs exhibited higher specific surface area and better conductivity owing to their unique urchin-like morphology, which resulted in excellent electrocatalytic activity towards H2O2 in the luminol–H2O2 ECL system. We have found that the Au–Ag alloy NUs could enhance the ECL signal in the luminol–H2O2 solution. Based on these facts, a facile and label-free ECL immunosensor has been constructed for the analysis of cTnI, a cardiac biomarker, with a wide linear range of 3.5 pg mL−1–350 μg mL−1. This novel ECL immunosensor has good stability and reproducibility, showing potential application in clinical diagnostics. In addition, a non-enzymatic electrochemical sensor for H2O2 was also fabricated, with a wide linear detection range of 100 nM–200 μM, a low limit of detection of 45 nM and a fast response time (less than 2 s).

The alteration of the morphology of bentonite, a key barrier to isolating high-level radioactive waste in deep geological repositories under long-term interaction with groundwater, was studied. Bentonite colloids were prepared from Gaomiaozi bentonite, and its various properties were analyzed by various characterization methods. The effects of various factors on the adsorption of Cs(I) and Co(II) on bentonite colloids were investigated by batch static adsorption experiments. The results showed that the colloids were mainly composed of montmorillonite and were lamellar in shape, with a zeta potential of −enton mV and an average size of approximately 209.10 nm. The adsorption of Cs(I) and Co(II) by the colloids was a rapid process, and 31.78 and 88.24 mg/g, respectively, were adsorbed at equilibrium. Pseudo-second-order kinetic fitting showed that chemisorption plays a dominant role and acid-base interactions affect adsorption by influencing the stability of colloids and the chemical form of simulated nuclides. This work can be helpful for evaluating the safety of waste repositories.

Maleopimaric acid, cycloaddition reaction product of rosin with maleic anhydride, was reacted with hydroxylamine to afford N-hydroxy maleopimarimide, which was then further esterified with 2-diazo-1-naphthoquinone-4-sulfonyl chloride (2,1,4-DNQ-Cl) to give N-hydroxy maleopimarimide sulfonate. The carboxylic acid group of the compound was then protected by the reaction of this compound with vinyl ether compounds to give the corresponding molecular glass compounds. Upon irradiation to 365 nm light, the 2,1,4-DNQ group undergo photolysis not only to be converted into indene carboxylic acid but also generate a few amount of sulfonic acid which can catalyze the deprotection of the acid labile group. So, novel one-component positive-tone chemically amplified i-line photoresists can be formed by the molecular glass compounds. The lithographic performance of the resists was evaluated using i-line exposure system with high photosensitivity and resolution.

Perovskite quantum dots can form various forms such as nanowires, nanorods, and nanosheets through self-assembly. Nanoscale self-assembly can be used to fabricate materials with excellent device properties. This study introduces AuBr 3 into CsPb(Br/I) 3 quantum dots, causing them to assemble into nanowires. The nanowires form because part of Au 3+ is surface-doped to replace Pb 2+ , and the [PbX6] 4− octahedral structure is distorted. The symmetry of the structural surface is broken, and a dipole-moment-induced field is generated, thus promoting self-assembly. Moreover, the presence of Au nanoparticles (NPs) causes a localized surface plasmon resonance and generates strong van der Waals forces that promote self-assembly. Finally, to test other applications of perovskite nanowires, the solution method is used to prepare films by compounding the sample solution and polystyrene (PS) for backlighted displays.

In this study, we synthesized a novel water-soluble low molecular chitosan (LMC) derivative through Vilsmeier reaction and reductive amination reaction. The derivative was characterized by UV-visible spectroscopy, 1 H NMR, FTIR and SEM techniques. The results showed that the derivative effectively reduced the cell viability rate, inhibited cell metastasis, induced cell apoptosis and dissipated mitochondrial membrane potential (ΔΨm). Moreover, the antitumor activity was strengthened with the increase of the degree of substitution of tanshinone I (TanI). These findings provided important support for developing new water-soluble antitumor agent and expand the scope of application of LMC.

The senescence of alveolar epithelial cells is one of the characteristics of mitomycin pulmonary toxicity, but the direct target of mitomycin-induced alveolar epithelial cell senescence remains unclear. In this study, a method of small-molecule ligand–protein interaction by pulldown/mass spectrometry identified peroxiredoxin I (Prdx I) as the target of mitomycin-induced alveolar epithelial cell senescence, and mitomycin was shown to significantly inhibit the peroxidase activity of Prdx I. Consequently, the levels of cellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) increased, leading to the activation of mitogen-activated protein kinase kinase 1/2 (MEK1/2)-extracellular signal-regulated protein kinases 1/2 (ERK 1/2) and, accordingly, to the increased expression of p53. Both a Prdx I activator and Prdx I overexpression alleviated mitomycin-induced alveolar cell senescence. A ROS scavenger inhibited MEK1/2-ERK1/2-p53 activation and then attenuated the senescence of alveolar epithelial cells triggered by mitomycin. Thus, Prdx I can serve as the first target of mitomycin-induced alveolar epithelial cell senescence, which might represent a promising approach to reduce mitomycin-induced lung toxicity.
