PDA-functionalized h-BN nanomaterials (Ph-BN) were used to reinforce the electrodeposited Ni W coatings. Compared with the h-BN nanomaterial, Ph-BN has better dispersion in the plating solution, which can effectively improve the mechanical and corrosion resistance of the coating. Compared with the Ni W coating, the microhardness value of the Ni-W/Ph-BN coating (662.8 Hv) was increased by 33.47 % and the friction coefficient (0.382) was reduced by 41.86 %. This is due to the special ceramic composite layered structure of Ph-BN namely the combination of flexible unit PDA structure and rigid unit h-BN structure, which will synergistically hinder the shedding of the coating during the friction process and help to improve the wear resistance of the coating. The R ct value of Ni-W/Ph-BN is 34,500 Ω•cm 2 , which is 105.36 % higher compared to Ni W coating. Ni-W/Ph-BN also has the smallest corrosion rate (0.0465 mm•a −1 ), which is 45.74 % lower relative to Ni W coating. The uniformly dispersed Ph-BN nanosheets in the coating prolong the corrosion path for corrosive ions. Besides, the PDA has the effect of anchoring Fe 2+ / Fe 3+ , which will be beneficial for the composite coating corrosion resistance improvement.

Numerous catalytic reaction systems take oxygen vacancy as the active site to initiate the redox cycle. However, the oxygen vacancy is easily occupied by various oxygen-containing species (e.g., water or other intermediates), resulting in catalyst deactivation . Here, we demonstrate that the layered double hydroxide (LDH) catalysts fundamentally solve the deactivation of oxygen vacancy frequently encountered with metal oxide catalyst systems, which simultaneously realizes the superior reactivity and durability for catalyzing ozone decomposition. First-principles calculations reveal that the ubiquitous surface hydroxyls on the layered hydroxide serve as the reactive sites and the redox cycle is achieved by a robust H-transfer mechanism in the 2D confined LDH systems, which are responsible for the extraordinary activity and resistance of LDH catalysts.

Brønsted acid ionic liquids (BAILs) are effective to biodiesel production of in situ transesterification of wet algae due to their dual role as both solvents of cellulose and catalysts of transesterification. The cellulose solubilities of BAILs are depending on H-bonding of BAILs-cellulose in varied solvent conditions, which subsequently affect the biodiesel productions. For this reason, the effects of H-bonding between BAILs including [Bmim][H2PO4], [Bmim]2[HPO4], [Bmim][HSO4], and cellulose under different methanol and water conditions on cellulose extractions are experimentally and theoretically investigated. The cellulose extractions in BAILs are decreasing as [Bmim][H2PO4] > [Bmim]2[HPO4] > [Bmim][HSO4], contrary to the variation of their thermal stabilities and crystallinities caused by varied H-bonding of BAILs-cellulose. Increasing methanol is positive to cellulose extractions in [Bmim][HSO4], while negative to those in [Bmim][H2PO4] and [Bmim]2[HPO4], due to the solvent effect of methanol confirmed by cyclic voltammetry (CV) measurements. The effect of water on H-bonding of BAILs-cellobiose is contrary to the effect of methanol. It is confirmed via the bonding interaction of BAILs-cellobiose through the density functional theory (DFT) computational method. However, the biodiesel yields are varied differently due to the competition of H-bonding of BAILs-cellobiose and deprotonation of BAILs under different methanol and water conditions. This study might pave the way to neutralize the negative effect of water on in situ transesterification via enhancing the cellulose extractions of BAILs.

Recently, all-inorganic perovskite (CsPbX 3 (X = Cl, Br, I)) nanocrystals (NCs) have caused extensive attention due to their high photoluminescence quantum yield (PL QY), high color purity, and narrow full width at half maximum (FWHM). Although the excellent optical properties of perovskite NCs (PNCs) endow them good application prospects, their inherent instability severely limits the commercialization process. In this paper, highly-luminescence and ultra-stable phosphor were obtained by loading PNCs onto the surface of amino modified hexagonal boron-nitride (h-BN) white graphene (PNCs-BNWG), This structural design can effectively suppress the attenuation of photoluminescence (PL) intensity and enhance thermal stability, thereby realizing the high stability and brightness white LEDs. The synthesis process is simple and can be finished in a few minutes to ensure scalable production. Compared with bare PNCs, it can maintain excellent optical properties. The high PL QY and thermal stability mainly stem from the isolation effect that separates PNCs from each other on the surface of BNWG and their superior high transparency as well as thermal conductivity . In addition, multi-color inks are produced by dispersing PNCs-BNWG nanocomposites in PDMS to form a multicolor painting demonstrating high PL QY and wide color gamut.

Herein, we demonstrate a ternary ionic hydrogel sensor consisting of tannic acid, sodium alginate, and covalent cross-linked polyacrylamide as skin-mountable and wearable sensors. Based on the multiple weak H-bonds and synergistic effects between the three components, the as-prepared hybrid hydrogel exhibits ultrastretchability with high elasticity, good self-healing, excellent conformability, and high self-adhesiveness to diverse substrates both in air and underwater. More importantly, the ternary hydrogel exhibits high strain sensitivity especially under subtle strains with a gauge factor of 2.0, which is close to the theoretical value of the ionic hydrogel sensors; an extremely large workable range of strain (0.05–2100%); and a low operating voltage 0.07 V. Consequently, the sensor demonstrates superior sensing performance for real-time monitoring of the large and subtle human motions, including limb motions, swallowing, smiling, and wrist pulse. Therefore, it is believed that the STP hydrogel has great potential applications in health monitoring, smart wearable devices, and soft robots.

In catalytic double bond migration reaction, E -configuration olefins were normally generated as the dominant product because E -configuration was thermodynamically favored. However, Z-configuration products are sometimes desired in pharmaceutical chemistry owing to the structure-activity relationship. In this paper, we have demonstrated a new strategy that Lewis acid promoted an widely employed and convenient ruthenium(II) complex for the catalytic isomerization of O-allylethers, leading to thermodynamic-unfavored Z-product under mild conditions. The model substrate of allyl phenyl ether can be simply scaled up to 20 mmol to produce Z-product with TON of 2453 and TOF of 13,430 h −1 at 40–60 °C. The system of Ru(II)/Lewis Acid catalysts was suitable for various substituted O -allylethers and other types of substrates. Through mechanism study including kinetic study, ligand inhibition effect and molecular spectroscopy, the dissociation of PPh 3 ligand by the addition of Lewis acid, and the formation a five-membered Ru complex from anchimeric assistance were both recognized as essential steps to improve the reactivity and to control the stereoselectivity of catalytic double bond migration reaction through metal hydride addition-elimination mechanism. This new strategy may provide a new opportunity to produce thermodynamic-unfavored product in heterocyclic compounds for pharmaceutical chemistry.

In this study, the effect of oxyanions on the photodegradation of sulfonamides by graphitic carbon nitride (g-C 3 N 4 ) was investigated. The results showed that the presence of disilicate (DS) could substantially improve the photodegradation of sulfamethazine (SMZ) in g-C 3 N 4 aqueous suspension. The primary mechanism for the enhancing effect of DS was hydrogen bonding (H-bonding) interaction. The hydroxyl groups ( OH) and bridging oxygen (Si O Si) of DS can form H-bonds with the amine groups of g-C 3 N 4 particles and sulfonamides, therefore soluble DS can act as a bridge to enhance the transfer and adsorption of SMZ onto the surface of g-C 3 N 4 particles. The presence of DS did not change the mechanism of photodegradation, but there was an optimal concentration for DS to achieve the strongest enhancing effect. H-bonding effect was also found for other oxyanions derived from weak acids, such as silicate, dihydrogen phosphate and borate ions, because the partial ionization of these oxyanions allowed the existence of hydroxyl groups to form H-bonds. The present study not only deepens our understanding of the interface process of the photodegradation of sulfonamides in g-C 3 N 4 aqueous suspension, but also provides a potential method to enhance the photocatalytic degradation of antibiotics in wastewater streams.

Selective activation of saturated C–H bond in hydrocarbons to produce high-value-added chemicals is of great significance for chemical synthesis and transformation. Herein, we present a facile procedure to achieve Ni-doped CdS nanoparticles with mixed (cubic and hexagonal) phases, as well as its application to the photocatalytic activation of saturated primary C–H bond of toluene and its derivatives. The photocatalytic oxidation rate of toluene into benzaldehyde of formation reached up to 216.7 μmolh−1g−1 under visible light irradiation. The excellent photocatalytic performance of Ni(II)-doped CdS [Ni(II)/CdS] can be attributed to its unique structural assembly with cubic and hexagonal phases and also the addition of Ni ions, together taking effect in promoting the separation of photogenerated charge carriers. The possible reaction mechanism for the photocatalytic selective oxidation is illustrated in this work. The band width of the as-prepared mixed phase CdS is reduced, which can effectively expand the response range and improve photocatalytic performance.

In order to develop highly sensitive immunoassays for detecting the major peanut allergen, Ara h 2, we prepared six monoclonal antibodies (mAb) with high affinity to Ara h 2. Using mAb 5 as a capture antibody and HRP-labeled mAb 1 as a detection antibody, a sandwich enzyme-linked immunoassay (ELISA) was established with a limit of detection (LOD) of 0.02 ng/mL. An immunochromatographic strip based on these two mAbs was also established with a LOD of 1 ng/mL. Both tests showed high specificity in cross-reactivity experiments. Sample analyses indicated that these two immunoassays were feasible, accurate, and highly sensitive for measuring allergen Ara h 2 of food.

Due to the almost-complete dependence on clinical diagnosis, current Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) epidemiological statistics suffer from fragmented geographical coverage and lagged data updating worldwide. Acquiring information based on the quantitative detection of biomarkers from domestic wastewater provides a promising way for the future H. pylori epidemiological study. Here, we report wastewater-adapted electrochemical competitive immunosensor (WECI). This method focuses explicitly on detecting H. pylori cytoplasmic ureB in wastewater and contains a series of designs to overcome the challenges brought by the complicated analytical matrix. The developed WECI achieved a practical detection range from 10 pg mL $^{-{1}}$ to 5.0 ng mL $^{-{1}}$ ( ${R}^{{2}}$ = 0.996) and showed the corresponding limit of detection (LoD) and limit of quantification (LoQ) of 0.37 and 1.4 pg mL $^{-{1}}$ , respectively. It can be prepared within 6 h and kept highly sensitive for at least six weeks. When testing real wastewater samples, WECI resulted in an average biomarkers recovery rate of 70.9%, which was remarkably higher than the average of 47.0% achieved using qPCR, indicating the excellent applicability toward actual wastewater detection. Our reported WECI is the first study to quantitatively detect H. pylori ureB from wastewater, opening up new vistas for H. pylori epidemiological study.

Micro-arc oxidation (MAO) coatings of aluminum alloy have great potential applications due to their high hardness and wear resistance. However, the micro-pores and defects formed in the discharge channels during the MAO process limit its application in the corrosion field. This study delves into the impact of h-BN nanoparticles into MAO coatings on their structure, corrosion resistance, phase composition, and tribological properties. The results show that the incorporation of h-BN particles reduces the porosity and surface roughness of the coating while enhancing its hardness and wear resistance. The best corrosion resistance is obtained at a concentration of 2 g/L h-BN. An analysis of worn surface morphology, corrosion resistance, and friction coefficient change was conducted to evaluate the performance of this coating. This method provides a new approach to enhance the surface hardness and wear resistance of aluminum alloys, which is significant for expanding the application of aluminum alloys in corrosion environments.
