The CoMnS-PDA (polydopamine) composite electrodes with high optical transparency and flexibility were fabricated on ITO/PET substrates via an electrochemical deposition method. The unique structural attributes, tunable electronic properties, and rich redox states inherent to bimetallic sulfides, combined with the catechol and nitrogen functional groups present in PDA, collectively enhance the surface modification effectiveness and pseudocapacitive performance of the electrodes. The CoMnS-PDA electrodes exhibit excellent pseudocapacitive performance, with a maximum areal capacitance of 189.3 mF cm−2 at a current density of 0.4 mA cm−2, while maintaining optical transmittance of around 80%. The assembled symmetric device exhibits 50% transparency and delivers an area capacitance of 28.7 mF cm−2 at a current density of 0.2 mA cm−2. Moreover, the device demonstrates outstanding flexibility, with negligible electrochemical performance degradation even under nearly 180° bending. When three devices are connected in series, they successfully light up a red LED, indicating the promising potential of these materials for flexible and transparent energy storage applications.

We report a novel method of three-component spray-spin-spray coating to prepare uniform and dense Ag/graphene nanosheet (Ag/GNS) composite films on a surface modified polyethylene terephthalate (PET) substrate. Compared with an untreated sample, the adhesion between composite films and the substrate was significantly enhanced due to the effects of chemical etching and molecular grafting. From the results of the four-probe test, the sheet resistance of hybrid films of Ag/GNS-5 reduced by 60% compared to the pristine Ag films, which was due to the efficient deposition of GNS by spray-spin-spray coating method. Meanwhile, a variety of complex flexible patterns were successfully fabricated with the help of the masking method. This means that the method could provide an efficient and low cost way for flexible electronics production of various complex flexible metallic coatings in practice.

The rapid detection of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) nanoplastics (PET NPs) is hindered by their low concentration, high mobility and lack of a distinguishable interface with other nanoplastics. In this study, we developed an SnS 2 @MoS 2 /APTES amino-functionalized photoelectrochemical sensor capable of detecting PET NPs with high specificity. The SnS 2 @MoS 2 heterojunction synthesized via in situ hydrothermal synthesis and the APTES self-assembled amino-functionalized interface enable PET NPs to interact with amino-functionalized interface at multiple sites through oxygen-containing groups such as ester groups, carbonyl oxygen and ether oxygen. The sensor exhibits a detection range of 0.5-800 μg mL −1 for PET NPs, with a detection limit of 0.17 μg mL −1 . DFT calculations further indicate that the PET-APTES system exhibits a lower adsorption energy (−1.37 eV) and a more significant interfacial charge rearrangement, demonstrating that the APTES amino siloxane interface exhibits a polymer structural selectivity toward PET. Furthermore, this PEC sensor exhibits good recovery rates (96.04%-102.76%) in practical water samples such as seawater, bottled water and tap water. It provides a new method for interface recognition and signal conversion for the specific PEC detection of PET nanoplastics.

Long-term discharge of industrial oily wastewater and frequent oil spills create an urgent demand for high-performance oil-water separation membranes. Conventional membranes are limited by high cost, poor stability, and a trade-off between separation efficiency and recyclability. Meanwhile, massive waste PET plastics trigger severe environmental pollution and resource loss. Herein, waste PET bottles are recycled to fabricate porous electrospun nanofiber substrates, followed by spray-coating nano-silica/epoxy hydrophilic composite layers to obtain superhydrophilic/underwater superoleophobic PET-SE membranes. Combined FTIR, XPS, SEM and EDS characterizations verify successful epoxy grafting and uniform SiO₂ immobilization, with abundant hydrophilic amino, amide and siloxane groups enriched on fiber surfaces. Mechanical tests show the tensile stress rises from 0.78 MPa to 2.3 MPa after modification. The optimized PET-SE3 achieves an ultrahigh water flux of 12756.91 L·m⁻²·h⁻¹ . Its separation efficiency exceeds 98% for six types of immiscible oil-water mixtures, and oil rejection surpasses 90% for corresponding oil-in-water emulsions. After 30 separation cycles, oil rejection remains above 98%, and the membrane exhibits excellent chemical and structural stability. This work realizes resource recovery of waste PET. The PET-SE membrane integrates superior separation performance, robust reusability and scalable eco-friendly preparation, presenting a promising candidate for practical oily wastewater treatment.

The costimulatory receptor CD28 is indispensable for regulating T-cell effector function, and the absence of co-stimulation is associated with poor immunotherapy response. However, longitudinal molecular imaging studies targeting CD28 as a costimulatory biomarker using positron emission tomography (PET) have not been reported. Here, we developed the co-stimulation-associated radiotracer [ 89 Zr]Zr-DFO-anti-CD28 to enable early prediction of therapeutic response by identifying recovery of T-cell responsiveness following programmed cell death protein 1 (PD-1) blockade in lung cancer. [ 89 Zr]Zr-DFO-anti-CD28 demonstrated high specificity for CD28 + tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs) in vitro and in vivo. By monitoring CD28 expression and its loss within the tumor microenvironment, [ 89 Zr]Zr-DFO-anti-CD28 PET identified responses to anti-PD-1 therapy earlier than changes in tumor volume observed at day 5, and increased radiotracer uptake correlated with more favorable treatment responses. Repeated PET imaging was performed to monitor dynamic changes in CD28 + TILs induced by different immunotherapies at day 14, and [ 89 Zr]Zr-DFO-anti-CD28 PET captured the CD28-dependent restoration of T-cell effector function, further supporting its potential for early prediction. Taken together, costimulatory biomarker-specific CD28 PET molecular imaging may enable noninvasive early prediction of responses to multiple immunotherapies and facilitate the application of precision medicine in lung cancer.

The combination of enhanced char formation capacity and radical quenching effect in polymer materials at elevated temperatures is crucial for improving flame inhibition and anti-dripping performance. This study developed a phosphorus (P)-functionalized Schiff base flame retardant (HSCP) specifically for poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET). Notably, incorporation of merely 4 wt% of HSCP effectively enhanced the anti-dripping performance of PET. The PET composites containing 8 wt% of HSCP (PET/HSCP8) achieved a limiting oxygen index of 30.0% with complete anti-dripping performance, attaining a V-0 rating in vertical burning. Furthermore, PET/HSCP8 exhibited a remarkable 16.4% reduction in total smoke production compared to unmodified PET. The enhanced fire safety of PET/HSCP was achieved through the dual-phase mechanism of HSCP, which combines the char-forming effect with the quenching effect. Importantly, the PET/HSCP8 composites maintain excellent interfacial compatibility, enabling the successful fabrication of filaments through melt-spinning that simultaneously exhibit enhanced fire safety and preserved mechanical properties.

Traditional
PET methanolysis often suffers from high solvent consumption
and complicated downstream purification, particularly when processing
colored or contaminated polyester waste. Herein, we report a continuous-flow
vapor-phase methanolysis approach using a fixed-bed reactor combined
with catalyst-pretreated PET for the depolymerization of waste polyester
materials. In this process, methanol vapor continuously passes through
the reactor and transports volatile depolymerization products out
of the reaction zone during the reaction. Under optimized conditions,
the system achieved up to 90% dimethyl terephthalate (DMT) yield,
while the condensed products exhibited a combined DMT/MHET purity
of approximately 99%. In addition, colored PET feedstocks underwent
effective in-situ decolorization during vapor-phase methanolysis,
with decolorization efficiencies exceeding 90%. ICP analysis further
demonstrated substantially reduced metal contamination in the recovered
products compared to conventional liquid-phase methanolysis. These
results suggest that continuous vapor-phase methanolysis enables simultaneous
PET depolymerization and partial purification within a single-process
configuration, providing experimental insights into the treatment
and upgrading of colored and contaminated polyester wastes.

Bottom-up vat photopolymerization is widely used for high-resolution additive manufacturing. However, excessive separation forces between the cured layer and the release film often lead to part distortion, delamination, and print failure, which is particularly pronounced when printing large cross-sections or with soft resins. To address this process bottleneck, a non-adhesive composite release film was developed by laminating a soft polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) layer, grafted with a fluorinated liquid-repellent coating, onto a microporous polyethylene terephthalate (PET) substrate. The fluorinated surface reduces intrinsic resin–film adhesion, whereas the microporous PET allows air to penetrate and establish a pressure balance at the PDMS/PET interface, thereby enabling a large, controlled elastic deformation of the PDMS and transforming the separation step from rigid pull-off to a perimeter-dominated flexible peel. Compared with adhesively bonded unmodified PDMS/PET films and commercial FEP films, the non-adhesive PDMS/PET release film reduces the maximum separation force by up to 73.4% and 60.6%, respectively. Finite element simulations with a cohesive-zone model clarify the role of interface flexibility in lowering peak stresses. Demonstrations of tall (>190 mm) and geometrically complex parts printed with various resins confirm that this release-film design significantly enlarges the stable process window and improves the reliability of bottom-up vat photopolymerization.

Five titanium-centered heteropoly acids with different metal vacancies were prepared first, and then combined with an ionic liquid by ion exchange to prepare heteropoly acid ionic liquid catalysts Bmim4–6[M(H2O)TiMo11O39] (M = Cu2+, Fe2+, Pb2+, Ti4+, and Zn2+). The structure and thermal properties of each catalyst were tested and analyzed by Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, ultraviolet (UV) spectroscopy, X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), apparent morphology analysis, and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). Five heteropoly acid ionic liquids were investigated by using waste mineral water bottles as samples for performance in the catalytic degradation of bottle-grade polyethylene terephthalate (PET), and the degradation product, bis(2-hydroxyethyl) terephthalate (BHET), was analyzed for the chemical structure. The results showed that the five heteropoly acid ionic liquid catalysts were successfully prepared, with good thermal stability. Of these catalysts, Bmim4[Ti(H2O)TiMo11O39] showed the optimal catalytic performance. It achieved an alcoholysis rate of 100% and a yield of BHET of 84.73% with a catalyst dosage of 0.6% (percentage in the total mass of the raw materials) at 190 °C for 5 h. Moreover, after six cycles of use, the alcoholysis rate was still as high as 94.36%, and the yield of BHET was 75.65%. The above results indicated that the prepared heteropoly acid ionic liquid catalysts showed good performance in the catalytic degradation of bottle-grade PET, presenting a promising prospect for development.

1 The combination of carbonaceous materials and microbial degradation is an attractive measure in improving the removal efficiency of organic pollutants in water environment. In this study, the anaerobic dechlorination in a coupled system of ball-milled plastic chars (BMPCs) and the microbial consortium were investigated. The anaerobic microorganism cultured from raw sludge (CAM) contributed to the dechlorination of the 2,4,6-trichlorophenol (2,4,6-TCP) into 4-chlorophenol (4-CP) as the final product via ortho -dechlorination in all testing groups. The dechlorination rate was accelerated in different BMBC plus CAM groups than that in only CAM group (0.048 d −1 ), of which, it was greater in BMPC-500 plus CAM group (0.375 d −1 ) than that in BMPC-700 plus CAM group (0.171 d −1 ). The electron exchange capacity (EEC) of BMPCs decreased with the increase of pyrolysis temperature (0.053 mmol e − /g for BMPC-500 and 0.037 mmol e − /g for BMPC-700), which directly affected anaerobic dechlorination. Direct interspecies electron transfer (DIET) of BMPCs also boosted the biogas yield by 1.5 times compared to that without BMPCs. Microbial community analysis illustrated that BMPCs helped to enrich the putative dechlorinating bacteria. The abundance of Clostridium_aenus_stricto _12, as a dominant dechlorinator, significantly increased from 0.02 % to 11.3 % (without BMPCs), 39.76 % (BMPC-500) and 9.3 % (BMPC-700), and followed by, Prevotella and Megaspheara , which was reported to take part in anaerobic dechlorination and digestion as H 2 producers, also increased in the presence of BMPC. This study contributes to the realization of 2,4,6-TCP in-situ reduction technology and provides a scientific reference for anaerobic dechlorination by cultured anaerobes combined with BMPCs.

Based on the excellent flame retardant performance, environment-friendly and abundant surface functional groups, Carbon Dots (CDs) were adopted as copolymerizable flame retardants for Poly(ethylene terephthalate)(PET) for the first time. The CDs with gelatin as precursor (gCDs) were synthesized by one-step hydrothermal method and copolymerized with pure terephthalic acid (PTA) and ethylene glycol(EG) to prepare flame retardant copolyester (gCDs-PET) based on the hydroxyl and amine groups on the surface of gCDs by in situ polymerization. It is demonstrated that gCDs-PET had showed better smoke suppressant and higher flame retardancy than pristine PET. The limiting oxygen index (LOI) of gCDs-PET composites achieved to 29% with the addition of 2.0 wt% gCDs. What is more, cone calorimeter tests showed that the peak value of heat release rate(pk-HRR) greatly decreased 42.66% and the total smoke production (TSP) reduced 62.64%. Besides, the flame-retardant mechanism disclosed that gCDs catalyzes the thermal decomposition of PET to form a shielding carbon layer, which handicap the release of combustible materials to the outside and expand the as-formed char, so that interrupt the combustion reaction. Furthermore, mechanical properties and spinnability of gCDs-PET was evaluated. It was demonstrated that the addition of gCDs into PET could enhance the mechanical strength and gCDs-PET could be made to fibers with excellent spinnability.

In this study, the porous graphite phase carbon nitride photocatalyst (P-g-C3N4) is prepared by CaCO3 template method, and then produce P-g-C3N4/T-Polyethylene terephthalate (T-PET) catalytic fiber by padding method. P-g-C3N4 can provide more actives sites than g-C3N4 is proved by Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) and UV-visible diffuse reflectance test. P-g-C3N4 powder catalyst successfully supports on PET fiber and proves by scanning electron microscope, fourier infrared spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction spectroscopy. The photocatalytic performance of P-g-C3N4/T-PET catalytic fiber is tested by constructing single hexavalent chromium or hexavalent chromium/organic pollutant binary pollution system. The potential application value of P-g-C3N4/T-PET catalytic fiber is further explored by simulating the complex actual water environment. After 5 recycles, P-g-C3N4/T-PET catalytic fiber also has good catalytic performance. The mechanism of P-g-C3N4/PET photocatalytic degradation of organic pollutants is proposed through the capture agent experiment and electron paramagnetic resonance spectroscopy. Among them, •O2- is the most important active species of P-g-C3N4 catalytic fiber, which is used for the oxidation of organic pollutants. At the same time, photoelectrons generated by the catalytic fiber are used to reduce hexavalent chromium. The efficiency of P-g-C3N4 to remove pollutants is improved by using PET fiber as a carrier, which not only solves the problem of difficult recovery of powder catalysts, but also provides more active sites.
