Flexible piezoresistive sensors hold promising application prospects in wearable health monitoring and human−machine interaction. However, existing devices struggle to achieve a favorable balance among high sensitivity, wide detection range, long cycle life, and low cost simultaneously. In this work, an N/A/CB/MWCNTs/MXene (PCMM) flexible piezoresistive sensor with a ternary conductive network was proposed based on a polyimide (N/A) sponge. The low-cost and high-resilience N/A sponge substrate was prepared via an isocyanate-assisted one-step in situ natural foaming method. A 0D−1D−2D hybrid three-dimensional conductive network was constructed on the substrate using carbon black (CB), multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs), and two-dimensional MXene through a vacuum dip-coating process. At a MXene dosage of 30 mg, the composite material achieves a high electrical conductivity of 1.8 × 10 −2 S/m with a residual strain of only 6.02%, demonstrating outstanding mechanical resilience. The as-prepared sensor delivers a high sensitivity of 4.393 kPa −1 within the pressure detection range of 0−5 kPa, shows a response time of less than 190 ms, and maintains stable electrical output over 3000 compression cycles. Compared with previously reported N/A-based flexible sensors, this work presents distinct advantages in the structural design of conductive networks and the synergistic optimization of sensitivity and durability. The fabricated sensor has been successfully applied to human motion monitoring, physiological signal detection, and voice recognition, showing great application potential in intelligent health monitoring and next-generation wearable electronics.

Redox activity is an important indicator for evaluating electrochemical biosensors. In this work, we have successfully polymerized indole-5-carboxylic acid into poly-5-carboxyindole nanomaterials (PI-5-CA), using its superior redox activity, and introduced carboxylated single-walled carbon nanotubes (C-SWCNTs) to synthesize a composite material. Finally, a synthesized composite material was used for the modification of the glass carbon electrode to fabricate the PI-5-CA/C-SWCNTs/GCE-based immunosensor and was successfully applied for the sensitive detection of E. coli O157:H7. The fabricated immunosensor exhibited an outstanding electrocatalytic activity toward the detection of E. coli O157:H7 with a remarkably lowest limit of detection (2.5 CFU/ml, LOD = 3 SD/k, n = 3) and has a wide linear range from 2.98×101 to 2.98×107 CFU/ml. Inspired from the excellent results, the fabricated electrode was applied for the detection of bacteria from real samples (water samples) with a good recovery rate (98.13–107.69%) as well as an excellent stability and specificity. Owing to its simple preparation, excellent performance, and detection time within 30 min, our proposed immunosensor will open a new horizon in different fields for the sensitive detection of bacteria from real samples.

Protein modification by glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI) takes place in the endoplasmic reticulum (ER). GPI-anchored proteins (GPI-APs) formed in the ER are transported to the cell surface through the Golgi apparatus. During transport, the GPI-anchor structure is processed. In most cells, an acyl chain modified to the inositol of GPI is removed by a GPI-inositol deacylase, PGAP1, in the ER. Inositol-deacylated GPI-APs become sensitive to bacterial phosphatidylinositol-specific phospholipase C (PI-PLC). We previously reported that GPI-APs are partially resistant to PI-PLC when PGAP1 activity is weakened by the deletion of selenoprotein T (SELT) or cleft lip and palate transmembrane protein 1 (CLPTM1). In this study, we found that the loss of TMEM41B, an ER-localized lipid scramblase, restored PI-PLC sensitivity of GPI-APs in SELT-knockout (KO) and CLPTM1-KO cells. In TMEM41B-KO cells, the transport of GPI-APs as well as transmembrane proteins from the ER to the Golgi was delayed. Furthermore, the turnover of PGAP1, which is mediated by ER-associated degradation, was slowed in TMEM41B-KO cells. Taken together, these findings indicate that inhibition of TMEM41B-dependent lipid scrambling promotes GPI-AP processing in the ER through PGAP1 stabilization and slowed protein trafficking.

Carbon fiber (CF)-reinforced epoxy resin (ER)-based composites are promising materials with many application prospects. However, the chemical inertness of the CF surface leads to poor interfacial bonding with the matrix, adversely affecting the mechanical properties, which are regarded as an insurmountable obstacle for their practical applications. Modifying the surface morphology of CFs to increase roughness and constructing a gradient modulus interface layer with rigid-flexible structures of polyimide (PI) on the CF surface to enhance the affinity between CFs and ER. Additionally, the multi-layer interface mitigates internal and external stress concentrations to improve the mechanical properties of the material. Notably, the addition of a flexible PI nanolayer significantly reduces the brittleness of epoxy-based composites, promoting ductile fracture. The reduced contact angle of CFs in polar and non-polar solutions after modification indicates that polydopamine (PDA) and highly polar PI enhance chemical compatibility at the composite interface, increasing the overall surface energy of the CF. Additionally, thermogravimetric analysis tests reveal that the excellent heat resistance of PI significantly enhances the thermal stability of the polymer on the modified CF surface. In conclusion, this work provides a feasible method for constructing novel gradient modulus interfacial layers with nanostructured rigid-flexible architectures in ER, offering new insights for designing next-generation advanced composites.

In this study, a polyimide/aminopropyllsobutyl polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane (PI/A-POSS) membrane with a novel 3D thermal crosslinking structure is prepared by electrospinning and subsequent imidization. Compared with the pure PI membrane, PI/A-POSS composite membranes present better mechanical properties, narrower distribution of pore size, smaller average pore size, and better thermal stability. When A-POSS content is 3 wt%, the composite membrane (A3) has outstanding electrolyte uptake, excellent ionic conductivity, low interfacial resistance, and the high electrochemical stability of anode. The battery assembled with the A3 separator has an excellent first discharge capacity of 137.8 mAh g −1 and its capacity retention rate is still as high as 76.49% after 100 cycles at 2.0 C. Furthermore, battery assembled with the A3 separator shows excellent rate capacity with a relatively high discharge capacity up to 169.7 mAh g −1 at 0.2 C and a superior capacity recovery rate of 98.06% at 30 °C. Especially, the battery assembled with the A3 separator shows more prominent rate capacity with an excellent first discharge capacity up to 180.5 mAh g −1 at 0.2 C and a superior capacity recovery rate of 95.79% at 60 °C.

The continuous increase in greenhouse gas emissions is having a significant impact on the global climate system. To address this issue, efforts worldwide are promoting the development of clean energy source, with methane-rich biogas being a primary focus. However, the dilution of biogas with CO₂ significantly reduces its calorific value. Therefore, efficient methane purification and resource utilization are urgently required. This study specifically developed a high-efficiency gas separation membrane suitable for large-scale industrial applications. By precisely separating CO₂ from biogas, it provides crucial technological support for enhancing biogas energy quality and promoting its industrialization. Specifically, using a conventional polyimide membrane (6FDA-APAF) as the template, a series of intrinsically microporous polyimide membranes (PIM-PI membranes) were innovatively synthesized by incorporating fluorene-containing microporous units—Namely, 9,9′-bis(4-aminophenyl)fluorene (FDA) or 9,9′-bis(4-amino-3-fluorophenyl)fluorene (FFDA). Subsequent thermal rearrangement (TR) treatment produced PIM-PI(TR) membranes. Both the introduction of fluorene groups and TR treatment increased the interchain spacing of the membranes, with the thermally rearranged PIM-PI(TR) membranes exhibiting larger d-spacings and broader micropore peaks. The 6FDA-FFDA (PIM-PI membrane) achieved a CO₂ permeability coefficient of 151.87 barrer, which is 9.9 times higher than that of the nonporous conventional polyimide membrane (6FDA-APAF, 15.4 barrer). The 6FDA-APAF/FDA (8,2) TR400 [PIM-PI(TR) membrane], subjected to thermal rearrangement, further increased its CO₂ permeability coefficient to 813.80 barrer, representing a 19-fold improvement over the untreated membrane. Simultaneously, this membrane exhibited a CO₂/CH₄ permeability selectivity factor as high as 39.03, surpassing the 2019 Robeson upper bound. Furthermore, both macro- and micro-characterizations reveal structurally uniform and intact membranes. With superior fabrication quality that lays a solid foundation for industrial applications. These results highlight the promising potential of TR-treated PIM-PI (TR) membranes containing fluorene-based pore-forming units for gas separation. This study also offers essential technical support for the industrial application of polyimide membranes in biogas purification

Li-Zhong-Xiao-Pi granules (LZXP) are effective for treating gastric precancerous lesions (GPL) in traditional Chinese medicine. However, the active compounds of LZXP and their potential therapeutic mechanism in GPL remained unclarified. The purpose of this study is to investigate the chemical composition and potential targets of LZXP. Based on the accurate masses, ion fragments, and literature data, a total of 128 compounds were identified in the LZXP sample using ultra-performance liquid chromatography and quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry (UPLC–Q-TOF–MS) in both positive and negative ion modes, and 28 of these compounds were exactly determined by comparison with authentic reference standards. Meanwhile, 11 typical components were quantified via UPLC during a 24 min period. The linearity, accuracy, stability and recovery of the method were all proven. Through the network pharmacological analysis, six chemicals (quercetin, 4′-hydroxywogonin, sinensetin, 5, 7, 8, 3′, 4′-pentamethoxyflavanone, 8-gingerdione and quercetin) were identified as the active ingredients, and five LZXP targets (AKT1, CYP1B1, PTGS2, MMP9 and EGFR) were found to be the crucial molecules in the treatment of GPL. This study provides a systematic and applicable method for the rapid screening and identification of the chemical constituents from LZXP, and an effective understanding the mechanism of LZXP in the treatment of GPL.

Wen-Pi-Tang (WPT), a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) prescription, is commonly used to treat chronic renal failure. However, the material basis and potential mechanisms of WPT against chronic renal failure have not been clarified. UHPLC-Q-Exactive Orbitrap-MS was utilized in this work to investigate the chemical components of WPT and their prototypes or metabolites in vivo. 227 chemical compounds were identified in the WPT. Meanwhile, 56 exogenous components (24 prototype components and 32 metabolic components) were examined in rat plasma. Meanwhile, network pharmacology revealed that liquiritigenin-O-sulfate, 3-keto-18β-glycyrrhetinic acid, 22-hydroxy-18-β-glycyrrhetinic acid, and hydroxyliquiritigenin (B ring)-O-sulfate with related targets AKT1, EGFR, STAT3, ESR1, SRC, MAPK3, MTOR, and PIK3CA were considered as the effective components and core targets. Furthermore, the findings suggested that the therapeutic effects of WPT on chronic renal failure may be substantially influenced by the PI3K-Akt, HIF-1, and FoxO signaling pathways. The outcomes of molecular docking and molecular dynamics simulations indicate that the key targets have strong binding capacities with effective components. Our study offers a comprehensive method for examining the molecular foundation and underlying mechanisms of WPT against chronic renal failure, opening up new therapeutic opportunities.

Introduction Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium Viride (Qing Pi in Chinese) is a clinically effective Chinese herb, which contains biologically valuable flavonoids. Qing Pi is divided into two commodity specifications, Si Hua Qing Pi (SHQP) and Ge Qing Pi (GQP), based on the harvesting time. The flavonoid contents in Qing Pi from different origins and commodity specifications may vary significantly, which will affect their therapeutic functions. Thus, it is crucial to set up a reliable and comprehensive quality evaluation method for flavonoid analysis in Qing Pi. Objectives We aimed to establish a rapid and sensitive ultrahigh-performance liquid chromatography method coupled with diode-array detection and high-resolution mass spectrometry (UPLC-DAD-HRMS) for identification and quantification of ten flavonoids in Qing Pi. Chemometric methods were further applied to distinguish Qing Pi of different origins and specifications. Methodology An UPLC-DAD-HRMS method was developed for the simultaneous separation and quantification of ten flavonoids in 46 batches of Qing Pi samples from different sources in China. Chemometric approaches were applied to discriminate Qing Pi from different origins and commodity specifications. Results The chemometric procedures (i.e., hierarchical clustering analysis and principal component analysis) were employed to identify the differences of Qing Pi samples with different origins and commodity specifications. The results showed that the contents of ten flavonoids in Qing Pi samples of different origins were significantly different, and the same results were found out between SHQP and GQP. Conclusions This study provides a chemical basis for quality control of Qing Pi.

Ethnopharmacological relevance Pi-Pa-Run-Fei-Tang (PPRFT) is an empirical TCM prescription for treating asthma. However, the underlying mechanisms of PPRFT in asthma treatment have yet to be elucidated. Recent advances have revealed that some natural components could ameliorate asthma injury by affecting host metabolism. Untargeted metabolomics can be used to better understand the biological mechanisms underlying asthma development and identify early biomarkers that can help advance treatment. Aim of the study The aim of this study was to verification the efficacy of PPRFT in the treatment of asthma and to preliminarily explore its mechanism. Materials and methods A mouse asthma model was built by OVA induction. Inflammatory cell in BALF was counted. The level of IL-6, IL-1β, and TNF-α in BALF were measured. The levels of IgE in the serum and EPO , NO , SOD , GSH-Px, and MDA in the lung tissue were measured. Furthermore, pathological damage to the lung tissues was detected to evaluate the protective effects of PPRFT. The serum metabolomic profiles of PPRFT in asthmatic mice were determined by GC-MS. The regulatory effects on mechanism pathways of PPRFT in asthmatic mice were explored via immunohistochemical staining and western blotting analysis. Results PPRFT displayed lung-protective effects through decreasing oxidative stress, airway inflammation , and lung tissue damage in OVA-induced mice, which was demonstrated by decreasing inflammatory cell levels, IL-6, IL-1β, and TNF-α levels in BALF, and IgE levels in serum, decreasing EPO, NO, and MDA levels in lung tissue, elevating SOD and GSH-Px levels in lung tissue and lung histopathological changes. In addition, PPRFT could regulate the imbalance in Th17/Treg cell ratios, suppress RORγt, and increase the expression of IL-10 and Foxp3 in the lung. Moreover, PPRFT treatment led to decreased expression of IL-6, p-JAK2/Jak2, p-STAT3/STAT3, IL-17, NF-κB, p-AKT/AKT, and p-PI3K/PI3K. Serum metabolomics analysis revealed that 35 metabolites were significantly different among different groups. Pathway enrichment analysis indicated that 31 pathways were involved. Moreover, correlation analysis and metabolic pathway analysis identified three key metabolic pathways: galactose metabolism; tricarboxylic acid cycle; and glycine, serine , and threonine metabolism. Conclusion This research indicated that PPRFT treatment not only attenuates the clinical symptoms of asthma but is also involved in regulating serum metabolism. The anti-asthmatic activity of PPRFT may be associated with the regulatory effects of IL-6/JAK2/STAT3/IL-17 and PI3K/AKT/NF-κB mechanistic pathways.

The development of lightweight and integration for electronics requires flexible films with high thermal conductivity and electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding to overcome heat accumulation and electromagnetic radiation pollution. Herein, the hierarchical design and assembly strategy was adopted to fabricate hierarchically multifunctional polyimide composite films, with graphene oxide/expanded graphite (GO/EG) as the top thermally conductive and EMI shielding layer, Fe 3 O 4 /polyimide (Fe 3 O 4 /PI) as the middle EMI shielding enhancement layer and electrospun PI fibers as the substrate layer for mechanical improvement. PI composite films with 61.0 wt% of GO/EG and 23.8 wt% of Fe 3 O 4 /PI exhibits high in-plane thermal conductivity coefficient (95.40 W (m K) −1 ), excellent EMI shielding effectiveness (34.0 dB), good tensile strength (93.6 MPa) and fast electric-heating response (5 s). The test in the central processing unit verifies PI composite films present broad application prospects in electronics fields.
