High-entropy rare earth phosphates (HE REPO 4 , RE = Ho, Tm, Yb, Lu, Dy, Er and Y) with xenotime structure have been successfully synthesized and comprehensively characterized to evaluate their feasibility as thermal/environmental barrier coatings (T/EBCs) applied in SiC f /SiC ceramic matrix composites (SiC-CMCs). HE REPO 4 show good chemical compatibility with SiO 2 at 1400 °C and excellent high-temperature stability up to 1750 °C. The thermal expansion coefficient (TEC) of HE (6RE 1/6 )PO 4 is 5.9 × 10 −6 /°C ranging from room temperature to 900 °C, which is close to that of SiC-CMCs. Compared with single-component REPO 4 , the thermal conductivity of HE (6RE 1/6 )PO 4 (from 5.1 W·m −1 ·K −1 at 100 °C to 2.8 W·m −1 ·K −1 at 1300 °C) is significantly reduced benefiting from larger lattice distortion. These allow HE REPO 4 to be a potential candidate as T/EBCs applied in SiC-CMCs.

The rapid detection of rare earth elements is crucial in various fields, such as materials science, biomedicine, and water quality assessment . However, no studies have reported on the detection of yttrium (Y) using electrochemical sensor-based devices. In this study, we present an innovative method for detecting Y(III) ions in aquatic environments using an electroanalytical detection platform. We have developed a complexation catalytic method that integrates trans-1,2-cyclohexanediaminetetraacetic acid (CyDTA) and silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs), thereby enhancing the adsorption and electrochemical response of Y(III) ions. The modified electrode demonstrates an 18-fold increase in the response signal of the Y(III) reduction peak compared to the bare LIG electrode. To elucidate the electrocatalytic mechanism, we conducted various interface characterization methods and DFT simulations. The Ag-CyDTA/LIG electrode exhibits excellent detection performance, with a broad linear dynamic range of 1 × 10 −6 to 0.01 g/L and an exceptionally low detection limit of 0.02 μg/L. Significantly, we successfully employed the electrochemical sensing platform to analyze real water samples from rare earth ore, marking the first report on the voltammetric detection of Y(III) ions in real water samples using a flexible electrode. These findings offer a promising technical solution for the practical detection of Y(III) ions.

The electrodeposition of eosin Y (EY) on graphene oxide (GO) modified glassy carbon electrode (GCE) was performed and the modified platform applied for the simultaneous determination of dopamine (DA) and epinephrine (EP). The EY/GO modified GCE was characterized using electrochemical impedance spectra. The modified electrode exhibited excellent electroanalytical performance for DA and EP by cyclic voltammetry due to the synergistic effect of the good electrical conductivity of GO and electrochemical activity of EY. The linear responses were found by differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) between 0.2 and 100 μM concentration range for DA and EP, with detection limits of 50 nM for DA and 30 nM for EP (S/N = 3), respectively. Further experiments were investigated for electrode selectivity, stability and reproducibility. In addition, in order to evaluate electrochemical activities for this proposed electrode, the simultaneous determination of DA and EP at EY/GO/GCE was explored in diluted human urine samples.

High hydroxide conductivity and sufficient dimensional/alkaline/mechanical stability are highly desired for practical applications of anion exchange membranes (AEMs). Herein, a new di -quaternized side-chain precursor (EDQA) was firstly designed and synthesized. Then novel AEMs (DBTF-4QA-x) based on poly(fluorenylene alkylene)s containing dual Y-shaped side-chains were prepared from EDQA by an efficient click reaction. Benefiting from several structural advantages of EDQA, DBTF-4QA-x membranes possessed high hydroxide conductivities up to 154.8 mS cm −1 at 80 °C, while maintained high dimensional stability. The membranes exhibited robust mechanical properties with tensile strengths and elongation at break up to 107.4 MPa and 46.4%, respectively. Furthermore, the membranes showed high alkaline stability with the conductivity loss below 11.4% after immersing in 4 M aq. NaOH at 80 °C for 40 days. In addition, DBTF-4QA-0.5 membrane achieved the maximum peak power density of 836.4 mW cm −2 in H 2 /O 2 fuel cells at 60 °C.

The M-modified TiO 2 nanotubes (NTs) (M = Ce, Ga, Co, Y, 2.0 wt%) were synthesized by combining sol-gel method with hydrothermal treatment, based on which gold was loaded by the deposition–precipitation approach. These catalysts were loaded with 1.5 wt% gold and calcined at 300 °C, and their catalytic performance was compared with Au/TiO 2 NTs in CO oxidation. TEM results manifested Au/M-TiO 2 NTs (M = Ce, Ga, Co, Y) had smaller gold nanoparticles than Au/TiO 2 NTs. Patterns of XPS revealed the presence of the strong interaction between gold and support in Au/M-TiO 2 NTs (M = Ce, Ga, Co, Y). Ce 4+ , Ga 3+ , Co 2+ , and Y 3+ ions were present as CeO 2 , Ga 2 O 3 , CoO, and Y 2 O 3 in Au/M-TiO 2 NTs (M = Ce, Ga, Co, Y), respectively. Based on O 2 -TPD studies, Au/M-TiO 2 NTs (M = Ce, Ga, Co, Y) provided new O 2 adsorption sites for the adsorption and activation of oxygen in CO oxidation. M (M = Ce, Ga, Co, Y) modifying performed the positive effect on CO oxidation activity and Au/Y-TiO 2 NTs showed the highest activity among these catalysts. Additionally, Au/Y-TiO 2 NTs also performed excellent high-temperature stability. It was likely that the strong interaction between gold and support created the small size of gold nanoparticles, large O 2 adsorption and plenty of defects, thereby enhancing the catalytic activity of Au/M-TiO 2 NTs (M = Ce, Ga, Co, Y).

In this study, a Y-shaped amphiphilic block copolymer consisting of hydrophilic poly(ethylene glycol) (mPEG) and two poly(ε-caprolactone) (PCL) as the hydrophobic arms with a ketal linker was synthesized (mPEG-Ketal-(PCL) 2 ). The structure of the copolymer with different compositions was characterized by 1 H NMR, gel permeation chromatography (GPC) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). The amphiphilic property endows the copolymer with the ability to be self-assembled into micelles for encapsulating anticancer drug doxorubicin (DOX), and the effect of copolymer with different PCL length on drug loading properties were tested. The morphology, size, pH responsiveness, drug release profile and in vitro anticancer activity of the DOX loaded micelles were also studied. In vitro drug release studies showed that over 50% of the DOX was released at pH 5.0 in 24 h because of hydrolysis of ketal linker in the copolymers. The confocal laser microscopy and flow cytometry experiments showed that the DOX-loaded micelles could be effectively internalized by Hela cells, the ketal bond in the backbone was broken in acid endo/lysosomal compartments and triggered the fast release of DOX. The in vitro antitumor efficacy of the DOX loaded mPEG-Ketal-(PCL) 2 micelles was better than that of non-pH sensitive ones. In vivo studies showed that the mPEG-Ketal-(PCL) 2 micelles enhanced the DOX blood circulation time and had good tumor-targeting efficiency.

The development of a simple, rapid, and sensitive technology for the simultaneous detection of mycotoxins is of great significance in ensuring the safety of foods and drugs. Herein, a fluorescence aptasensor with high sensitivity and reproducibility for the simultaneous detection of aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) and ochratoxin A (OTA) was developed. In this sensing system, AFB1 and OTA aptamers were co-immobilized on the surface of magnetic beads (MBs) to form a Y-shaped structure through the principle of complementary base pairing, which were used as recognition probes to specifically capture the target. Activators generated by electron transfer for atom transfer radical polymerization (ARGET ATRP) was used as signal amplification strategy to improve the sensitivity. The initiator modified at the end of the antibody initiates the ARGET ATRP reaction. Different fluorescence signals were designed to achieve simultaneous detection of OTA and AFB1 with the limit of 18.62 and 1.60 fg/mL for AFB1 and OTA, respectively. In addition, experiments were conducted on three types of samples, and the recoveries of the two mycotoxins ranged from 87.30% to 109.50%, with relative standard deviations ranging from 0.50% to 4.92% under reproducible conditions. The results suggest that the developed aptasensor is sufficient to meet the different regulatory requirements of the two mycotoxins in food and drug safety and shows great potential.

In this study, an environmentally friendly and recyclable acid-base bifunctional CaO-SrO/biomass chars (BCs) catalyst was prepared using egg shells and poplar leaves as the base materials, and it was used to transesterify waste sheep fat into biodiesel. The structure and properties of the catalysts were investigated by EDX/SEM, BET, NH 3 TPD, and XRD analyses. Biodiesel yield was optimized for maximum values using RSM and ANN. The highest biodiesel yield of 98.83 % was achieved at a catalyst amount of 6 wt%, an alcohol-oil ratio of 8:1, a reaction time of 1.5 h, and a reaction temperature of 65 °C. The catalyst maintained 80.3 % yield after five cycles and showed good acid resistance. By studying the thermodynamics and kinetics behavior of transesterification, the results showed that the doping of SrO reduced the activation energy of the reaction, the activation energy of the reaction is 45.38 kJ/mol. These results show the great potential of our catalyst in transesterification reactions. In addition, the quality of sheep fat biodiesel meets the ASTM D6751 standard. In a life cycle cost analysis, it is shown that our process is relevant for the scale-up and to industrialize of biodiesel production.

Zeolite Y nanoparticle assemblies (Y-NA) with a mesoporous structure were directly synthesized at 75 °C for 16 h without adding any organic templates. The changes in structure, morphology and textural parameters of the materials obtained after different crystallization times were investigated via powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), infrared spectroscopy (IR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and N2-sorption. The results show that Y-NA had a micro–mesoporous structure composed of highly crystalline particle assemblies with sizes of 400–900 nm. The H-form Y-NA (HY-NA) is strongly acidic, and exhibits a good catalytic performance in the Ritter reaction, as compared with the H-form microporous zeolite Y and mesoporous zeolite ZSM-5.

Zr 1− x − y Ce x Nd y O 2− y/ 2 ceramics, which were designed as waste form materials, were obtained by simultaneous substitution of Ce 4+ and Nd 3+ for Zr 4+ in ZrO 2 . The influences of the simultaneous substitution of Ce and Nd on phase transformation of ZrO 2 were investigated systematically. Also, the aqueous durability of the ceramics was evaluated. The results show that the phase transformation caused by the simultaneous substitution mainly relates to the total content of Ce and Nd. The ZrO 2 ceramics containing Ce + Nd < 30 mol% exhibit both monoclinic and cubic phases, while the ceramics containing Ce + Nd ≥ 30 mol% are cubic phase. And the cubic phase can be stabilized by incorporating 30 mol% Ce + Nd. Moreover, LR i are modified by the incorporation of Ce and Nd, because of the presence of oxygen vacancies . The Nd and Ce co-doped zirconia waste form exhibit excellent aqueous durability (∼10 −5 g m −2 d −1 ).

Y 2 O 3 is a cost-effective and environmentally friendly wide-band gap photocatalyst with extensive application potential. However, its limited ability to be excited by visible light restricts its practical uses. In this study, we coupled the narrow bandgap semiconductor AgI with Y 2 O 3 to form a Z-scheme heterostructure , significantly promoting its photocatalytic degradation activity. Characterization and experimental results demonstrated the formation of Y-O-Ag bonds through coupling with AgI, leading to an increase in oxygen vacancies in Y 2 O 3 , which promotes the chemisorption of H 2 O and O 2 . The Y-O-Ag bond introduction promotes electron transfer , improves hole utilization, and boosts energy transfer efficiency, thus promoting the efficient generation of ·OH and 1 O 2 . The photocatalytic degradation rates of RhB and o-nitrophenol by 7.5% AgI/Y 2 O 3 were 26.5 and 4 times higher than those of pure Y 2 O 3 , respectively. This study provides theoretical support for the Z-scheme heterojunction to improve photocatalytic activity and offers efficient solutions and practical design ideas for sewage purification.

UV–vis–NIR photodetectors are of great importance to extensive applications, while they are limited by the low photon utilization and narrow light response range inherent in a single material. To overcome these limitations, we propose the construction of heterojunction photosensitive materials featuring a hollow structure. In this study, Y-type titanylphthalocyanine nanoparticles (Y-TiOPc NPs) and hollow ZnS nanotubes (ZnS NTs) are employed to fabricate a bulk heterojunction photosensitive material (Y-TiOPc NPs:ZnS NTs). This composite material exhibits a significant cavity enhancement effect, resulting from multiple light reflections and outstanding light absorption spanning from 365 to 1060 nm. The photodetector based on Y-TiOPc NPs:ZnS NTs (referred to as Y:ZT-PD) demonstrates remarkable photodetection capabilities, including photomultiplication phenomena. Specifically, it achieves a high external quantum efficiency of 24042%, an impressive photoresponsivity (R) of 101967 mA/W, and an excellent specific detectivity (D*) of 1.56 × 1012 Jones at 0.01 mW/cm2. Additionally, the multiperiod time-resolved photocurrent response curves exhibit rapid and stable responses across different wavelengths. Characterization results indicate that these exceptional performances primarily arise from the cavity enhancement effect of ZnS NTs and the hole-injection effect resulting from interfacial trapped electrons. Consequently, the outstanding performance, coupled with the broad spectral range and stability, positions the hollow bulk heterojunction as a promising material for the next generation of broadband photodetectors.
