Due to their remarkable suitability for mass production, micro-scale flow strategies for inorganic perovskite nanocrystals (NCs) are rapidly developed. However, the existing microfluidic systems belong to single-stage thermal reactors and cannot achieve temperature adjustment during NC preparation like the hot-injection method to attain beneficial crystallization and growth temperatures. In this work, we designed two-stage microfluidic system with two heating reaction modules to carry out the growth of CsPbBr 3 NCs experiencing dual reaction temperatures in flow. The nanoplatelets formed due to lower precursor combination temperatures in the first stage are mostly transformed into cuboidal NCs by a second heating reaction, improving the stability of the CsPbBr 3 NCs. Furthermore, the mixed morphology probably impedes the amplified spontaneous emission (ASE) performance, so uniform cuboidal NCs (average size of 18.3 nm) have a lower ASE threshold of 4.6 μJ cm −2 at room temperature. Additionally, this system effectively avoids the precipitation of PbBr 2 precursor at elevated temperatures, thus enabling the successful fabrication of larger-sized NCs (28.2 nm) upon raising the preparation temperature to 250 °C.

Two-dimensional (2D) CsPbBr 3 nanoplatelets (NPLs) have attracted great attention as one of promising semiconductor nanomaterials due to their large exciton binding energy and narrow emission spectra. However, the labile ionic and weakly bound surfaces of deep-blue emitting CsPbBr 3 NPLs with wide bandgap result in their colloidal instability, thus degrading their optical properties. It is challenging to obtain deep-blue emitting CsPbBr 3 NPLs with excellent optical properties. In this study, high-quality blue-emitting CsPbBr 3 NPLs with tunable thickness were prepared adopting the DBSA-mediated confinement effect based on the hot-injection method. Thanks to the coordination interaction of − SO 3 − of DBSA ligand and the Pb 2+ on the surface of the CsPbBr 3 NPLs, as well as the effective passivation of Br vacancy defects on the surface of NPLs by OAm-Br, the obtained pure-blue CsPbBr 3 NPLs and deep-blue CsPbBr 3 NPLs show high photoluminescence quantum yield (PLQY) of 92 % and 81.2 %, respectively. To the best of our knowledge, this is the highest PLQY recorded for deep-blue emitting CsPbBr 3 NPLs with two monolayers [PbBr 6 ] 4− octahedra. Furthermore, the agglomeration of CsPbBr 3 NPLs due to ligand loss induced by moisture, oxygen, and irradiation was also suppressed by the dual passivation effect of DBSA and OAm-Br. Our work provided a new approach to developing high-performance and stable deep-blue emitting CsPbBr 3 perovskite nanoplatelets.

The low stability and high toxicity of CsPbBr3 perovskite nanocrystals (PNCs) greatly limit their application in the biological field. Here, six different CsPbBr3 PNCs were prepared by ligand-assisted reprecipitation (LARP) and hot injection using oleic acid (OA), oleamine (OAm), (3-Aminopropyl) triethoxysilane (APTES) modification and SiO2 coating, respectively. Different ligands, shells, and synthesis methods give CsPbBr3 PNCs diverse optical properties, stability, and biocompatibility. Among them, OA-OAm-APTES-CsPbBr3@SiO2 has the highest photoluminescence quantum yield (PLQY) (80.74%) and higher stability (fluorescence intensity remains 70% after 15 days in an atmospheric environment). OA-OAm-APTES-CsPbBr3@SiO2 (30 μg/mL) was cocultured with liver cancer cells for 12 h, and the survival rate was 80%, indicating high biocompatibility. Under the observation of the microplate reader, bright green fluorescence appeared in the cytoplasm, indicating that OA-OAm-APTES-CsPbBr3@SiO2 has great application potential in the field of bioimaging.

Comprehensive Summary Inorganic lead halide perovskite (LHP) nanostructures, represented by formula CsPbX 3 (X = Cl, Br, I), have garnered considerable interest for their exceptional optical properties and diverse applications. Despite their potential, challenges such as environmental degradation persist. In-situ synthesis within protective materials pores is a promising way to address this issue. However, confining perovskite nanostructures into porous matrices during the synthesis can limit their photoluminescence quantum yield (PL QY) and tunability of optical properties. Various post-treatment approaches exist to improve the properties of LHP and achieve their desired functionalities, but these strategies have not been explored for LHP confined in mesoporous matrices. Here, we demonstrate the efficacy of in-situ post-synthetic treatments to improve the optical properties of CsPbBr 3 nanocrystals grown in nanoporous silica microspheres. Surface passivation with Br – ion-containing precursors boosts PL QY, while anion-assisted cation doping with Mn 2+ ions introduces a new PL band. The adjustment of precursor amount and doping duration enables precise control over the optical properties of LHP, while additional coating with a SiO 2 shell enhances their stability in polar solvents, expanding the potential applications of these composites.

Lead halide perovskite nanocrystal materials such as CsPbX3 (X = Cl, Br, and I) have triggered an intense research upsurge due to their excellent scintillation performance. Herein, an in situ crystallization strategy is developed to grow CsPbBr3 nanocrystals (NCs) within a low-melting-point (280 °C) coordination polymer (CP) glass. The viscosity of coordination glass is reduced through a low-temperature (e.g., 50 °C) thermal treatment, enabling the short-distance migration of uniformly dispersed ions (Cs+, Pb2+, and Br–) to achieve in situ crystallization of CsPbBr3 NCs. Benefiting from the high transmittance (80% within the 500–800 nm range) and outstanding scintillation performance, the prepared CsPbBr3@ZnBr2(bIm+DMSO)2 (bIm = benzimidazole, DMSO = dimethyl sulfoxide) transparent luminescence glass exhibits an excellent X-ray imaging resolution of up to 25 lp/mm, outperforming many perovskite glass and crystalline scintillators. This work would provide an idea for the development of high-resolution scintillation screens that can be prepared at low temperatures.

The halide perovskite (PVSK) material, an excellent light absorber with fast carrier kinetics, has received increased attention as a potential photocatalyst for organic synthesis. Herein, we report a straightforward synthesis of chemically modified halide perovskite and its application as an efficient photocatalyst to convert styrene into benzaldehyde. A simple method is employed to synthesize the chemically modified CsPbBr3/Cs4PbBr6 nanosheets by using ZrCl4 to simultaneously achieve the Cl doping and the surface modification with Zr species. The photocatalytic oxidation rate of styrene to benzaldehyde catalyzed by surface-modified CsPbBr3/Cs4PbBr6 nanosheets under visible light can reach 1,098 μmol g−1 h−1, 2.9 times higher than that of pristine CsPbBr3/Cs4PbBr6 nanosheets (372 μmol g−1 h−1). The enhanced photocatalytic performance may originate from the modified band structure induced by the synergistic effect of Cl doping and surface modification, whereby the same methodology can be applied to MAPbBr3. This work demonstrates the surface modification of PVSK materials and their potential as efficient photocatalyst toward organic synthesis.

In recent years, the vigorous industrial development of the country has brought about serious air pollution, and the development of low-temperature gas sensors with high response and short response/recovery time has become ideal for monitoring the industrial environment. This work demonstrates a composite gas sensor based on CsPbBr 3 perovskite quantum dots (QDs) and In 2 O 3 nanospheres for the detection of TEA gases at low temperatures. Compared with pure In 2 O 3 , the best responsive gas for the In 2 O 3 -CsPbBr 3 QDs composite was triethylamine (TEA), with a response value of 52.92 at an optimal operating temperature of 60 °C. In addition, due to the sensitive optical properties of the CsPbBr 3 QDs, UV irradiation of the In 2 O 3 -CsPbBr 3 composites was performed, and the samples were found to have response values as high as 156.42. The In 2 O 3 -CsPbBr 3 composite also has a short response recovery time (1/19 s), which is favorable for timely warning. The results of the gas-sensing experiments showed that the sensor has good sensitivity, reproducibility, and stability for triethylamine.

It is of great importance to choose a suitable solvent for the growth of high-quality CsPbBr3 single crystals. Here, by introducing acetonitrile (ACN) to the mixture of dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) and dimethylformamide (DMF) solvents, the solubility curve of CsPbBr3 exhibits a monotonic decrease in the temperature range of 20–80 °C, which can reduce the growth temperature to around 45 °C. Besides, the addition of ACN significantly increased the yield of single crystals to 38.71%. The quality of CsPbBr3 single crystals grown in the DMSO/DMF/ACN precursor was improved, evidenced by a full width at half maxima (FWHM) of 0.035° in the X-Ray rocking curve of (100) and the absence of secondary phase inside the crystal from the infrared image. A μτ value of 2.57 × 10−4 cm2 V−1 from the corresponding devices can be achieved, comparable to that of crystals grown by the melt method. Our work here provides a promising solution recipe for the preparation of high-quality CsPbBr3 single crystals.

Recently, photodetectors based on perovskite nanoplatelets (NPLs) have attracted considerable attention in the visible spectral region owing to their large absorption cross-section, high exciton binding energy, excellent charge transfer properties, and appropriate flexibility. However, their stability and performance are still challenging for perovskite NPL photodetectors. Here, a surface engineering strategy to enhance the optical stability of blue-light CsPbBr3 NPLs by acetylenedicarboxylic acid (ATDA) treatment has been developed. ATDA has strong binding capacity and a short chain length, which can effectively passivate defects and significantly improve the photoluminescence quantum efficiency, stability, and carrier mobility of NPLs. As a result, ATDA-treated CsPbBr3 NPLs exhibit improved optical properties in both solutions and films. The NPL solution maintains high PL performance even after being heated at 80 °C for 2 h, and the NPL film remains nondegradable after 4 h of exposure to ultraviolet irradiation. Especially, photodetectors based on the treated CsPbBr3 NPL films demonstrate exceptional performance, especially when the detectivity approaches up to 9.36 × 1012 Jones, which can be comparable to the best CsPbBr3 NPL photodetectors ever reported. More importantly, the assembled devices demonstrated high stability (stored in an air environment for more than 30 days), significantly exceeding that of untreated NPLs.

CsPbBr 3 nanoplates (NPs) have shown great potential in diverse optoelectronic applications. Despite the wonderful luminescence properties, the inherent instability of these NPs hinders their use in practical situations. Herein, a facile water-assisted strategy is reported to synthesize highly stable blue emission CsPbBr 3 NPs encapsulated in PbBr(OH). The introduction of water directly into the reaction mixture is pivotal, as it triggers the transformation of bulk CsPbBr 3 nanocubes into 2-D CsPbBr 3 NPs within the PbBr(OH) matrix, resulting in the formation of CsPbBr 3 @PbBr(OH) microbricks. Remarkably, the water content in the reaction mixture allows the control of the number of perovskite layers in the NPs, thus enabling the emission color to be tuned from deep blue to green. The unconventional approach presented herein not only offers a cost-effective pathway to synthesize blue-emitting perovskites which are highly stable in a wide variety of polar and non-polar solvents, but also holds immense potential for propelling the advancement of high-performance LEDs and other optoelectronic devices. The findings underscore the significance of water in dictating the growth dynamics and emission characteristics of perovskite NPs, paving the way for their practical application.

Despite recent advances, it is still difficult to fabricate deep blue-emitting perovskite light-emitting diodes (LEDs) that are immune to the color instability caused by halide mixing. This is largely because it is still challenging to achieve bright, stable, pure bromide perovskite materials with deep blue emission. Here, a novel strategy is reported for synthesizing ultrasmall CsPbBr 3 quantum dots (QDs) under ambient conditions. Precise size control is used to tune the peak emission wavelengths, via the confinement effect, from 433 to 501 nm. These ultrasmall QDs, with sizes of 2–6 nm, exhibit ultralow trap density and stable photoluminescence quantum yields up to 94%, particularly in the deep blue spectral region (440–465 nm). QD-LEDs fabricated with these materials achieve an external quantum efficiency of 1.0% at 459 nm. The exceptional control of the emission properties demonstrated here suggests a new strategy for building stable, efficient blue QD-LEDs.

As a direct band gap semiconductor, perovskite has the advantages of high carrier mobility, long charge diffusion distance, high defect tolerance and low-cost solution preparation technology. Compared with traditional metal halide perovskites, which regulate energy band and luminescence by changing halogen, perovskite quantum dots (QDs) have a surface effect and quantum confinement effect. Based on the LaMer nucleation growth theory, we have synthesized CsPbBr3QDs with high dimensional homogeneity by creating an environment rich in Br−ions based on the general thermal injection method. Moreover, the size of the quantum dots can be adjusted by simply changing the reaction temperature and the concentration of Br−ions in the system, and the blue emission of strongly confined pure CsPbBr3perovskite is realized. Finally, optical and electrochemical tests suggested that the synthesized quantum dots have the potential to be used in the field of photocatalysis.
