The “solvent-in-salt” electrolytes for an aqueous system, including “water-in-salt” electrolytes and “bisolvent-in-salt” electrolytes, have shown significantly improved electrochemical stability toward low-voltage anodes and high-voltage cathodes. However, the heavy use of salt raises concerns of high cost, high viscosity, inferior wettability, and poor low-temperature performance. Herein, a “localized bisolvent-in-salt electrolyte” is proposed by introducing 1,1,2,2-tetrafluoroethyl-2,2,3,3-tetrafluoropropyl ether (TTE) as the diluent to the high-concentration water/sulfolane hybrid (BSiS-SL) electrolytes, forming a ternary solvent-based electrolyte, Li(H2O)0.9SL1.3·TTE1.3 (HS-TTE). The introduction of TTE dilutes the compact ionic clusters, while the original primary Li+ solvation structure remains, and in the meantime, boosts the formation of a robust solid electrolyte interphase. As a result, a wide electrochemically stable window of 4.4 V is achieved. In comparison with the bisolvent BSiS-SL system, the trisolvent HS-TTE electrolyte exhibits a low salt concentration of 2.1 mol kg–1, resulting in drastically reduced viscosity, superb separator wettability, and largely improved low-temperature performance. The constructed 2.5 V Li4Ti5O12/LiMn2O4 cell shows an excellent capacity retention of 80.7% after 800 cycles, and the cell can even work at −30 °C. With these extraordinary advantages, the fundamental designing strategy of the HS-TTE electrolyte developed in this work can promote the practical applications of solvent-in-salt electrolytes.

Attributed to its medium operating potential of 0.8 V, the layered perovskite LiEuTiO 4 (LETO or L100) has been deemed as an appealing anode candidate for lithium-ion battery (LIB), circumventing the risk of lithium plating at a low potential of approximately 0 V while preserving the battery voltage. However, its inherent low conductivity and sluggish kinetics stagnate its practical use, and its compatibility with high-voltage cathode is still neglected. Therefore, we fabricate LETO@CNFWs (LC) composite using carbon nanofiber webs (CNFWs) as surface-modifier and scaffold. To fabricate this composite, firstly LETO and CNFWs compound was ball-milled according to different weight ratios. The balled-milled L100, LC20, LC5, and LC2 exhibit excellent electrochemical behaviors, nearly 133.6, 151.0, 181.0, and 200.0 mAh g −1 of specific charge capacities after 1000th cycles are acquired at 1 A g −1 , which are about one and half times higher than that of untreated LETO compared to LC2, and more stable cyclability stems from the enhanced conductivity and Li + transportation. Moreover, the full cell based on calcined LiNi 0.5 Mn 1.5 O 4 (LNMO-700 °C) and LC2, demonstrates considerable capacity with a high voltage plateau of about 4 V. As well, LC2||LNMO-700 °C full-cell exhibits 114.3 mAh g −1 superior specific charge capacity after 100 cycles at 0.1 A g −1 compared to L100|| LNMO-700 °C, LC20||LNMO-700 °C, LC5|| LNMO-700 °C. This surface-modify strategy here is instrumental to the realistic employment of LETO as a promising anode for a safe 4 V LIB with high capacity.

Conductive oxides with chemically distinct local environments are attractive for bifunctional water splitting because hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) and oxygen evolution reaction (OER) impose different requirements on adsorption and charge transfer. Here, a descriptor-informed Fe/V co-doping strategy is proposed to regulate MoO 2 for photo-assisted electrocatalysis. Density functional theory (DFT) screening based on incorporation thermodynamics, local M–O bond mismatch, and near-Fermi-level electronic states identifies V as the most favorable dopant for lattice incorporation and Fe as the dopant that minimizes local bond-length mismatch while strongly perturbing the electronic structure. Guided by this complementarity, Mo 0.9 Fe 0.05 V 0.05 O 2 was synthesized and compared with pristine MoO 2 and single-doped controls. The co-doped catalyst preserves the MoO 2 framework and delivers the best overall performance, requiring 166 and 243 mV for HER and 253 and 281 mV for OER to reach 10 and 50 mA cm −2 under illumination. Electrochemical measurements reveal improved charge-transfer behavior and enhanced light-induced current response. Optical characterization and Finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) simulations indicate that the hollow architecture promotes optical-field localization, while DFT reaction energetics suggest site-dependent catalytic preferences, with V-associated environments favoring hydrogen adsorption and Fe-associated environments facilitating OER intermediate conversion. This study demonstrates that pairing dopants according to lattice compatibility and electronic perturbation is an effective route to activate MoO 2 for photo-assisted bifunctional water splitting. A descriptor-guided Fe/V co-doping strategy activates hollow MoO 2 for photo-assisted water splitting. Fe/V co-doping enables complementary HER/OER active sites, while the hollow architecture promotes optical-field localization and enhances interfacial charge-transfer kinetics under illumination. Lithium cobalt oxide (LCO) remains the predominant cathode for consumer electronics, owing to its superior volumetric energy density and theoretical capacity. However, extending its operating voltage beyond 4.5 V triggers aggressive electrolyte decomposition, leading to structural deterioration and rapid performance decay. To address this challenge, we propose a functionalized polyester-diacrylate-polydimethylsiloxane (PAPDMS) as a slurry additive, forming a protective layer. This layer plays a crucial role in improving electronic conductivity, enhancing mechanical flexibility, and facilitating electrolyte uptake of LCO. In particular, this protective layer not only modulates the solvation structure, thereby promoting the formation of an inorganic-rich CEI, but also effectively suppresses the dissolution of transition metals. The dual-effect synergy of the PAPDMS layer on both the electrode and electrolyte significantly enhances LCO stability at 4.5 V. Compared with the original LCO, the modified LCO shows an increase in capacity retention rate from 62.3% to 85.2% after 200 cycles at 4.5 V. Moreover, in a practical graphite||LCO pouch cell, the PAPDMS-modified LCO demonstrates superior long-term stability with 78.2% capacity retention after 500 cycles, dramatically outperforming pristine LCO electrodes (46.8%). This strategy presents a scalable approach to stabilizing high-voltage LCO in next-generation lithium-ion batteries.

To meet high-power microwave system demands, low-temperature sintered Bi-Li-V substituted YIG ferrites were prepared. The experimental results reveal that Bi 3+ , Li + , and V 5+ occupy the c, a, and d sites of the garnet structure, respectively; the full-site distortion reduces the lattice activation energy, significantly reducing the transformation temperature from perovskite to garnet phase. Additionally, a dual structure with a high percentage of fine grains is observed in the substituted samples, which is an important reason for the large increase in spin-wave linewidth. Isothermal thermodynamic analysis indicates that a sintering mechanism dominated by liquid-phase sintering is conducive to the densification of YIG ferrites. Ferromagnetic resonance linewidth decomposition confirms that, due to the simultaneous increase in the saturation magnetization and the magneto-crystalline anisotropy constant, anisotropy-induced linewidth remains almost unchanged; the dense dual structure leads to a significant reduction in porosity-induced linewidth; ultimately, the ferromagnetic resonance linewidth is greatly reduced.

Excessive reactive oxygen species (ROS) generated during bone scaffold implantation disrupt cellular redox homeostasis and adversely affect stem cell proliferation and osteogenic differentiation, thereby impeding bone regeneration. In this study, vanadium (V) was doped into the cerium oxide (CeO 2 ) lattice via a wet chemical synthesis, and the resulting V-doped CeO 2 (V-CeO 2 ) nanoparticles were incorporated into a poly(L-lactic acid) (PLLA) matrix to fabricate composite scaffolds using selective laser sintering. The incorporation of V induced lattice distortion and increased the concentration of oxygen vacancies, which enhanced ROS adsorption and catalytic conversion. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) revealed that V doping increased the Ce(Ⅲ) content from 31.2% to 39.9%, thereby facilitating the Ce(Ⅲ)/Ce(IV) redox cycle. Specifically, Ce(Ⅲ)exhibited superoxide dismutase (SOD)-like activity to eliminate O 2 •- , while Ce(IV) showed catalase (CAT)-mimetic activity for H 2 O 2 decomposition. In vitro evaluations demonstrated that the PLLA/V-CeO 2 scaffold significantly reduced intracellular ROS levels and upregulated osteogenic gene expression, including BMP-2 and RUNX2. Moreover, the scaffolds exhibited favorable biocompatibility, supporting osteoblast adhesion, proliferation, and differentiation. These results suggest that V-CeO 2 -integrated scaffolds hold promise for ROS-regulated bone tissue repair.

Lithium cobalt oxide (LiCoO2) cathodes suffer serious structure instability when charged to high voltage (>4.5 V), including H1-3 phase transition, cobalt dissolution, and interfacial side reactions, which are closely related to the instability of surface lattice oxygen. Herein, an interfacial B–O complexing strategy was proposed to stabilize the surface lattice oxygen of LiCoO2 at 4.6 V, through the preferential coordination between derived products of the tris(pentafluorophenyl)borane electrolyte additive and LiCoO2. Combining a series of in situ and ex situ characterization methods with temporal and spatial resolution, it was revealed that the emergence of peroxy-like species (O22–) at high potentials is one of the origins of the instability of LiCoO2, which can be well inhibited thanks to interfacial B–O complexing. Thus, oxygen loss and interfacial side reactions can be drastically retarded, which consequently provides a more stable chemical environment for Co element, avoiding the dissolution and valence reduction of Co. Owing to the well-anchored Co and O elements, undesirable phase transition and local coordination structure change are suppressed, hence improving the capacity retention and rate performance of LiCoO2 at 4.6 V. This study provides an interfacial complexing strategy to stabilize the high-voltage LiCoO2 cathode.

Elevated phosphorus levels in wastewater created significant environmental concerns, including the degradation of surrounding soil structure, inhibition of plant growth, and potential threats to human health. To address this issue, a self-standing nanofibrous composite membrane based on PA-66/PVA-15%La(OH)3was fabricated via electrospinning, followed by glutaraldehyde (GA) crosslinking and alkali hydrolysis to create an interpenetrating structure, where PA-66 provided the overall mechanical strength of the membrane, while La served as a functional component for the adsorption of phosphate. The chemical composition, surface morphology, thermal stability, and mechanical properties of the resulting membranes were characterized using ATR-FTIR, SEM, TGA, and tensile testing, respectively. Furthermore, the adsorption performance of the membranes was evaluated systematically through static and dynamic adsorption. The Langmuir isotherm model yielded a theoretical maximum adsorption capacity of 21.39 mg/g for phosphate ions. Notably, over 96% of this capacity was retained even in the presence of interfering ions. Moreover, dynamic adsorption experiments demonstrated that the membrane can deal with 1.74 L of phosphate-containing wastewater at a low flow rate of 1.0 mL/min and 1.46 L at a high flow rate of 2.0 mL/min, respectively, while consistently maintaining a phosphate removal efficiency exceeding 90%. A controlled release of phosphate ions from a phosphate-adsorbed membrane was successfully demonstrated using Mougeotia cultivation, implying the potential for phosphorus resource recovery.

High-voltage Ni-rich cathodes, which show high energy density and large cost-effectiveness, hold great promise for power Li-ion batteries. However, the unstable cyclic structure rooted in stress restricts their practical applications. In this work, we propose a strategy using a dispersed Eu 2 O 3 buffer phase to mitigate the high-voltage cyclic stress . The optimized Ni-rich cathode shows excellent high-voltage thermal stability and practical long-term cycling stability. For the constructed 4.6 V full cell, a superior capacity retention of 92 % after 200 cycles is observed. The enhanced cyclic properties are ascribed to the mitigated stress, as revealed by multi-characterizations such as in-situ X-ray diffractions and finite element simulation. As expected, the mitigated stress well stabilizes the oxygen lattice and preserves the particle structures. More importantly, the approach is confirmed to be versatile in other high-voltage cathodes. Also, other available elements including La and Dy for the construction of buffer phases are outlooked.

The commercial deployment of lithium batteries is limited by the safety concerns of liquid electrolytes and the poor ionic conductivity of solid-state electrolytes. In this work, a lithium secondary battery is developed via in-situ polymerization of poly(ethyl 4,4,4-trifluorocrotonate) (PTCA-SPE), yielding an electrolyte with enhanced safety, interfacial compatibility, thermal stability, and high ionic conductivity. When applied in a 4.6 V lithium-rich (OLO)|Gr-Si soft-pack full cell with an energy density of 350 Wh kg −1 , the battery exhibits stable electrochemical performance. The thermal runaway threshold is elevated by 20 °C compared to a conventional liquid electrolyte, and capacity retention after 300 cycles at 0.33 C is substantially improved. The coordination between Li + and C=O/C–O functional groups facilitate effective lithium ion dissociation and transport. As a result, PTCA-SPE forms a rapid and well-organized ion transport pathway, delivering a high ionic conductivity of 6.93 × 10 −3 S cm −1 , a lithium-ion transference number of 0.84, and an electrochemical stability window exceeding 6.0 V. Beyond lithium-ion batteries, PTCA-SPE also significantly enhances the cycling stability and thermal safety of sodium-ion batteries and high-voltage NCM-based systems.

Designing and constructing the active center of Ru-based catalysts is the key to efficient hydrolysis of ammonia borane (NH 3 BH 3 , AB) for hydrogen production. Herein, V-doped Ru/Ti 2.5 V 0.5 C 2 dual-active center catalysts were synthesized, showing excellent catalytic ability for AB hydrolysis. The corresponding turnover frequency value was 1072 min −1 at 298 K, and the hydrolysis rate r B of AB was 235 × 10 3 mL·min −1 ·g Ru –1 . X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy results indicated that the interaction between V-doped Ti 3 C 2 and catalytic metal Ru transfers electrons from Ti to Ru, resulting in electron-rich Ru species. According to density functional theory calculations, the activation energy and reaction dissociation energy of the reactants AB and H 2 O on V-doped catalysts were lower than those of Ru/Ti 3 C 2 , thus optimizing the catalytic kinetics of AB hydrolysis. The modification strategy of V-doped Ti 3 C 2 provides a new pathway for the development of high-performance catalysts for AB hydrolysis.

In this study, magnetic nanocarriers (DU@Fe, D avg = 281.6 nm, zeta potential −28.0 mV) were fabricated using dextran, urushiol as the shell and superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (SPIONs) as the core. Subsequently, the specific ligand Lys-D-Ala-D-Ala of vancomycin (Van) was grafted onto the surface of DU@Fe, which generated nanoparticles (Lys-D-Ala-D-Ala@DU@Fe) with an average particle size of 385.5 nm and a zeta potential of −16.8 mV via specific and robust interaction. Ultimately, the immobilization capacity of Van reached up to 294.1 mg·g −1 for efficient antibacterial properties. Moreover, the assembly process adhered to the pseudo-second-order kinetics model ( R 2 = 0.998–0.999) and the Langmuir adsorption isotherm model ( R 2 = 0.999, 30 °C). Notably, V@DU@Fe effectively adhered to the cell envelopes of both Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria, achieving rapid bactericidal effects within 1 h. Furthermore, it maintained over 85.0 % of its initial antibacterial efficiency against S. aureus and S. epidermidis even after six recycles. Therefore, this study provides strategies and methods for the development of urushiol-dextran intelligent SPIONs nanomedicines.
