A series of Ba-modified MnCeOx/TiO2 catalysts were prepared by a wet impregnation method and tested for selective catalytic reduction (SCR) of NO with NH3 at low temperature. The results showed that Ba additives obviously improved the catalytic performance of the MnCeOx/TiO2 catalyst for NH3-SCR, and the BaMnCeOx/TiO2 catalyst with 3 wt% BaO exhibited the optimal catalytic performance. Moreover, the introduction of Ba also improved the resistances toward water vapor and SO2 of catalysts. The N2 adsorption, H2-TPR, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy results showed that the addition of Ba increased the specific surface area, redox properties, and concentrations of surface Mn4+ and chemisorbed oxygen of catalysts. Furthermore, NH3-TPD and NO-TPD were used to investigate the absorption of NH3 and NO on the catalyst. The results revealed that although the introduction of Ba significantly promoted the adsorption of NO, it also inhibited the adsorption of NH3. Consequently, the catalytic performance of MnCeOx/TiO2 was greatly improved with the Ba additives.

Catalysts loaded with metal oxides of M (M = Mn, Co, Ce) were synthesized by deposition precipitation method using cold rolled sludge (iron oxide as the main component) as a raw material for the selective catalytic reduction of NO x by ammonia (NH 3 -SCR). Among the various formulations, the co-supported catalyst containing 5 % Mn and 5 % Co on CRS-400 exhibited exceptional SCR performance, achieving over 90 % conversion of NO x from 80 °C to 200 °C. The addition of 5 % Mn and 5 % Co as active components resulted in an increase in the specific surface area for catalytic performance and an enhancement of the redox capacity, leading to a significant improvement in catalyst activity. The catalyst’s efficient denitration performance was attributed to the synergistic interaction between Mn, Co, and Fe oxides, resulting in a catalyst with a higher proportion of adsorbed oxygen, as well as an elevated composition of Mn 4+ and Fe 2+ species. The catalyst demonstrated excellent SCR activity at low-temperatures, indicating its potential for downstream applications in soot treatment equipment. This would achieve the dual benefits of purifying the atmosphere and disposing of solid waste.

Cu-modified SAPO-34 molecular sieves with different Cu loading amounts were prepared by ion-exchange and impregnation methods. Both series of catalysts were hydrothermally treated at 750 °C in 10 vol% H 2 O/air for 24 h. The catalysts were characterized by inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES), electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), H 2 temperature-programmed reduction (H 2 -TPR), NH 3 temperature-programmed desorption (NH 3 -TPD) and diffused reflectance infrared flourier transform spectroscopy (DRIFTS). All the fresh catalysts show high activity toward the selective catalytic reduction of NO x with NH 3 (NH 3 -SCR) at low temperatures regardless of preparation method. Generally, the hydrothermal aging shifts the operation window of the catalysts towards high temperatures. The improvement in high-temperatures activity is attributed to the migration of surface CuO clusters into the ion-exchanged sites as isolated Cu 2+ during ageing, which suppresses the competitive oxidation of NH 3 . The loss of low-temperatures activity is also related to the decrease in the amount of active surface CuO clusters, inhibiting the oxidation of NO to NO 2 and fast SCR reaction. Interestingly, the amount of Lewis acid sites increase linearly with the increasing isolated Cu 2+ , while the Brønsted acidity is weakened.

Typical p-type semiconductor MnO codoped with n-type semiconductors such as CeO2 and V2O5 was reported to achieve high efficiency in catalytic NO removal by NH3. In this paper, we present novel Mn-Ce codoped V2O5/TiO2 catalyst which exhibited an excellent NO conversion efficiency of 90% at 140°C. By using this codoped catalyst, the best low-temperature activity was greatly decreased when compared with single Mn- or Ce-doped catalyst. According to the characterization results from BET, XRD, and XPS, the codoped catalyst was composed of both CeO2 and amorphous Mn. The electron circulation formed between doping elements is believed to promote the electron transfer, which may be one of the reasons for excellent low-temperature denitration performance.

In this work, the phosphomolybdate (HPMo) modification strategy was applied to improve the N 2 selectivity of MnCo-BTC@SiO 2 catalyst for the selective catalytic reduction of NO x , and further, the mechanism of HPMo modification on enhanced catalytic performance was explored. Among MnCo-BTC@SiO 2 -x catalysts with different HPMo concentrations, MnCo-BTC@SiO 2 -0.75 catalyst exhibited not only the highest NH 3 -SCR performance (∼95% at 200-300°C) but also the best N 2 selectivity (exceed 80% at 100-300°C) due to the appropriate redox capacity, greater surface acidity. X-ray photoelectron spectrometer (XPS) and temperature programmed reduction of H 2 (H 2 -TPR) results showed that the modification with HPMo reduced the oxidation-reduction performance of the catalyst due to electron transfer from Mo 5+ to Mn 4+ /Mn 3+ and prevent the excessive oxidation of ammonia adsorption species. NH 3 temperature-programmed desorption of (NH 3 -TPD) results showed that the modification with HPMo could significantly improve the surface acidity and NH 3 adsorption, which enhance the catalytic activity and N 2 selectivity. In-situ diffused reflectance infrared Fourier transform spectroscopy (in-situ DRIFTS) revealed that modification with HPMo increased significantly the amount of adsorbed NH 3 species on the Bronsted acid site and C B / C L , it suppressed the production of N 2 O by inhibiting the production of NH species, the deep dehydrogenation of ammonia adsorption species. This study provided a simple design strategy for the catalyst to improve the low-temperature catalytic performance and N 2 selectivity.

Traditional Mn-Ce catalysts for selective catalytic reduction (SCR) of NO with CO (CO-SCR) in iron and steel flue gases are often hindered by competitive adsorption of NO and CO, which compromises catalytic efficiency. In this study, we present a Ni-doped Mn-Ce catalyst that overcomes these challenges, achieving 96 % NO conversion, 98 % N 2 selectivity, and 44 % CO conversion at 175 °C. Comprehensive characterization of the catalyst reveals that Ni doping significantly enhances Mn-Ce interactions, boosting oxygen vacancy density and promoting efficient redox cycling between Mn 3 + /Mn 4+ and Ce 3+ /Ce 4+ . Diffuse reflectance infrared Fourier transform spectroscopy (DRIFTS) confirms preferential NO adsorption at oxygen vacancy sites, minimizing CO-NO competition and stabilizing the Langmuir-Hinshelwood mechanism, where both gases co-adsorb and react at oxygen-rich vacancies. Mechanistic insights suggest that Ni facilitates electron transfer, weakening the N–O bond in NO and accelerating its dissociation, resulting in faster NO reduction. This study establishes Ni doping as a promising strategy for improving the low-temperature performance of Mn-Ce-based CO-SCR catalysts, paving the way for more efficient catalytic systems.

Rice husk ash (RHA) has potential as a supporter of catalysts. In this research, we studied the activity and SO2tolerance of RHA-based Fe-Cu oxide in the reduction of NO by CO. Characterization methods were employed to study the properties of the catalysts and their SO2tolerance. Activity and SO2resistance were also tested at different temperatures. We recommend two catalysts with SO2resistance ability: Fe0.67Cu0.33/RHA (the highest catalytic activity) and Fe0.8Cu0.2/RHA. The NO removal rate hardly changed with the addition of SO2and was kept at about 100%. However, the CO conversion rate decreased with increasing SO2at the lower reaction temperatures, which may be due to the formation of sulfites. Fortunately, the deactivation was reversible and can be reduced with an increase in the reaction temperature. The results of our research may help promote the application of CO-SCR.Keywords:rice husk ash;Fe-Cu catalysts;NO reduction;SO2resistance;CO-SCR

Sulfation treatment has been widely used to promote the catalytic performance of ceria (CeO 2 ) based catalysts for the selective catalytic reduction of NO by NH 3 (NH 3 -SCR of NO). Praseodymium oxide (PrO x ), another commonly used rare earth material with similar structural properties as CeO 2 , also shows satisfactory redox properties due to the facile redox cycle of Pr 3+ ↔ Pr 4+ . In this work, gas phase sulfation treatment with varied duration was performed on PrO x at 200 °C, and the NH 3 -SCR activity of sulfated PrO x was evaluated. Based on the results of systematic characterizations (e.g., N 2 -physisorption, NH 3 oxidation , NO oxidation, in situ diffuse Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy), it is revealed that the catalytic performance of sulfated PrO x is highly dependent on the sulfation time (or the amount of sulfate species deposited on PrO x ), which has a significant impact on the competitive reaction between NH 3 oxidation and NH 3 -SCR of NO, thus determining the NH 3 -SCR activity of PrO x . This work provides new insight into tuning the interaction between PrO x surface and reactants (NO, NH 3 ) via sulfation treatment, which cam guide the design and application of PrO x based catalysts for NH 3 -SCR of NO in the future.

In cement kiln flue gas emissions, high concentrations of alkali and alkaline earth metals cause the deactivation of the NbCe/Ti catalysts, significantly reducing their operational lifespan under industrial conditions. Here, the NbCe-loaded titanium nanotubes (NbCe/TiNTs) catalyst has been synthesized via hydrothermal and impregnation methods. The NbCe/TiNTs catalyst exhibits superior resistance to potassium (K) and calcium (Ca) poisoning. Notably, NbCe/TiNTs catalyst maintains high NOx conversion across a wide temperature range (192–350 °C). The 5Ca-NbCe/TiNTs and 3K-NbCe/TiNTs catalysts achieve a 90% NOx conversion at 235 and 242 °C, respectively, demonstrating remarkable resistance to K and Ca poisoning. The results indicate that TiNTs supports enhance both the specific surface area and surface acid sites of the catalyst, synergistically improving its resistance to K and Ca poisoning. Furthermore, an in situ diffuse reflectance infrared Fourier transform spectroscopy (DRIFTS) study elucidates selective catalytic reduction with the NH3 (NH3-SCR) reaction mechanism, revealing dual contributions from both the Eley–Rideal (E–R) and Langmuir–Hinshelwood (L–H) mechanisms on the catalyst. This work provides a research direction for enhancing the alkali poisoning resistance of NOx removal catalysts.

A series of Mn a Zr b Cr c O x catalysts with different Cr/Mn molar ratios were synthesized via co-precipitation for the selective catalytic reduction of NO x with NH 3 (NH 3 -SCR). It was found that a Mn 5 Zr 2 Cr 2.5 O x catalyst with a Mn:Zr:Cr ratio of 5:2:2.5 exhibited excellent low-temperature activity and the best levels of H 2 O resistance at a high weight hourly space velocity (WHSV) of 54,000 ml/(h·g). NO conversion levels were measured as greater than 87% within a temperature range of 150–250 °C, and catalytic performance levels reached 90% even 50 h after reactions occurred in the presence of 15% H 2 O at 230 °C. The characterization results show that strong interactions occurring between Mn, Zr and Cr oxides and higher quantities of Mn 4+ and Lewis acid sites improved the redox properties and facilitated H 2 O resistance. In situ diffuse reflectance infrared Fourier transform spectra ( in situ DRIFTS) show that coordinated NH 3 on Lewis acid sites and bidentate nitrates play important roles in SCR reactions and that such reactions follow both Langmuir-Hinshelwood (L-H) and Eley-Rideal (E-R) mechanisms. The competitive adsorption of H 2 O and NO may be the main cause of the adverse effects of H 2 O on catalytic performance.

In an O 2 -containing environment, achieving efficient selective catalytic reduction of nitrogen oxides (NOx) by carbon monoxide (CO) using non-noble metal catalysts remains a formidable challenge. To balance the catalytic oxidation of CO and the catalytic reduction of NOx, we need to develop a catalyst with strong reductibility and weak oxidizability for the CO selective catalytic reduction of NOx (CO-SCR) reaction in the presence of O 2 . In this study, we synthesized the CoCeOx-PVP catalyst via a coprecipitation method and employed various characterization techniques, including BET, SEM, XRD, Raman, XPS, H 2 -TPR, and O 2 -TPD. The analysis results indicate that the addition of polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) alters the surface structure of the catalyst, increases the particle size, and enhances the concentration of surface oxygen vacancies. These structural effects facilitate electron circulation and accelerate the migration of oxygen species, thereby improving the catalytic reduction performance of the catalyst and increasing the conversion rate of NOx. At 250 °C and with 5 vol% O 2 , the conversion rates of NOx and CO can attain 98% and 96%, respectively, accompanied by a remarkable N 2 selectivity of 99%. Following a sustained reaction period of 6 h, the conversion efficiencies of both NOx and CO remain above 95%. However, during extended testing periods, as the oxygen vacancies are progressively occupied by O 2 , the oxygen vacancies generated through the reduction of NO with CO fall short of sustaining the CO-SCR reaction over the long haul. Subsequently, the oxidation reactions of NO and CO come to dominate, resulting in a decline in the NOx conversion rate. Notably, the CO conversion rate still maintains 100% at this point. Based on the results of in situ diffuse reflectance infrared Fourier transform spectroscopy (in situ DRIFTS) experiments, we proposed a reaction mechanism for the CO-SCR process over the CoCeOx-PVP catalyst under O 2 -containing conditions. This study provides an effective strategy for the application of non-noble metal catalysts in the field of CO-SCR. Although maintaining long-term activity of the catalyst remains a challenge in the presence of O 2 , the catalyst in this study exhibits a slower deactivation rate compared to traditional non-noble metal catalysts.

Every year, large amounts of selective catalytic reduction (SCR) catalysts with losing catalytic activity and failing to be regenerated need to be regenerated, which will result in acute pollution. Recycling valuable metals from spent SCR catalysts can not only solve environmental problems, but also save resources. The process of sodium roasting and water leaching is able to effectively extract vanadium (V) and tungsten (W) from spent SCR catalysts. To improve the efficiencies of V and W, different sodium additives were first investigated in the roasting process. The results revealed that the process of NaCl-NaOH composite roasting and water leaching showed superior leaching efficiencies of V and W, which can reach 91.39% and 98.26%, respectively, and simultaneously, it can be found that adding low melting point NaOH promoted mass transfer as compared with the melting points of different sodium additives. Next, a single-factor experiment was conducted to investigate different roasting conditions, such as roasting temperature, roasting time, mass ratio of sodium additive and catalyst, and mass ratio of NaCl and NaOH, on the leaching efficiencies of V and W. Then, a three-level and four-factor orthogonal experiment and a weight matrix analysis were used to optimize the roasting parameters. The results showed that roasting temperature had the most significant effect on the leaching efficiencies of V and W, and the optimal roasting conditions were as follows: the roasting temperature was 750 °C, the roasting time was 2.5 h, the mass ratio of sodium additive and catalyst was 2.5, and the mass ratio of NaCl and NaOH was 1.5. Under the optimal roasting conditions, the leaching efficiencies of V and W were 93.25% and 99.17%, respectively. The results of XRD analysis inferred that VO2coming from the decomposition of VOSO4in spent SCR catalysts may first oxidize into V2O5and then react with sodium additives to produce NaVO3. The formation of titanium-vanadium oxide ((Ti0.5V0.5)2O3) was a part reason of hindering the leaching of vanadium. With the increase of roasting temperature, TiO2converted into Na2Ti3O7, which indicated that the main structure of the catalyst was destroyed, and simultaneously, more characteristic peaks of sodium metavanadate and sodium tungstate appeared, thus enhancing the leaching of V and W. Finally, it can be seen that the process of NaCl-NaOH roasting and water leaching remained higher leaching efficiencies of V and W and lower roasting temperature by comparing with leaching efficiencies of V and W in different processes of recycling SCR catalyst. The process of NaCl-NaOH composite roasting and water leaching provided a strategy with a highly efficient and clean route to leach V and W from spent SCR catalyst. The orthogonal experiment and weight matrix analysis in our study can be used as a reference to optimize the reaction conditions of a multiple indexes experiment.
