Timely and accurate on-site detection of ochratoxin A (OTA) is extremely important for global public health. In this study, a fluorescence/colorimetric biosensor based on Ti 3 C 2 nano-materials (Ti 3 C 2 -NMS) and a machine-learning (ML) based fluorescence/colorimetric intelligent learning system for detection of OTA concentration (COTA) were developed. The sensor was fabricated by functionalizing Ti 3 C 2 -NMS prepared by physical-exfoliation assisted metal-ion-induction using ssDNA. The Ti 3 C 2 -NMS exhibited good fluorescence quenching characteristics (FQC) and peroxidase-like activity (PLA). More surprisingly, the functionalization of Ti 3 C 2 -NMS by ssDNA further enhanced the FQC and PLA of the material, which could be used for dual-mode detection of OTA. When different COTA existed, ssDNA competitively bound to OTA, resulting in regular changes in fluorescence and colorimetric signals of the sensor, which realized the accurate and sensitive biosensing detection of OTA in two modalities. Based on a series of fluorescent/colorimetric RGB datasets collected by a self-developed application, a dual-channel ML model had been developed. This model can be integrated into mobile phones, clouds, and PCs to achieve intelligent sensing detection of OTA with the assistance of fully connected artificial neural networks. The method constructed had high specificity, low cost, and fast responsiveness, with a LOD as low as 1.58 pg mL −1 , indicating excellent potential for application and promotion.

Ti 3 C 2 MXene (TM) has great application potential in the field of wave absorption and corrosion resistance due to its unique performance, such as high specific surface area, high electrical conductivity, excellent mechanical and good chemical stability. However, it is difficult to obtain uniformly dispersed TM in the resin matrix due to rapid agglomeration behavior. It is difficult to obtain uniformly dispersed Ti 3 C 2 MXene (TM) in the resin matrix due to rapid agglomeration behavior. Herein, a novel method is presented to improve the corrosion protection and dispersion of TM by polymerizing polyaniline (PANI) nanoparticles between layers. The waterborne epoxy (WEP) coating with PANI-TM had high mechanical properties including impact resistance, adhesion, and flexibility and wear resistance. The PANI-TM-WEP composites can effectively absorb more than 90 % of the electromagnetic waves and demonstrate a decreased glass transition temperature of WEP from 128.0 to 107.6 ℃. Moreover, the |Z| 0.01Hz value of the PANI-TM 0.5 % was 1.2369 × 10 6 Ω·cm 2 , which was one order of magnitude larger than WEP coating. The high-performance anticorrosion of PANI intercalated TM coating is attributed to the synergistic effect of impermeable TM nanosheets and passivation effect of PANI. Therefore, PANI-TM is a potential choice for applications in the fields of anticorrosion and microwave absorption.

MXene Ti 3 C 2 has emerged as a promising biosensing material due to the high surface area, excellent biocompatibility, tunable functional groups (-F, O, -OH), and outstanding electrical conductivity, effectively addressing issues such as low sensitivity and inadequate biocompatibility in sensors. This work, MXene Ti 3 C 2 -AuNPs are synthesized as functional materials through a one-step synthesis method. We propose the first all-fiber biosensor featuring a laterally offset SMF-MMF-SMF-MMF-SMF (SMSMS) interferometric structure functionalized with MXene Ti 3 C 2 -AuNPs as the substrate of the biosensor sensor device, for the detection of the alkane degradation (ALK) gene, to the best of our knowledge. The biosensor enables in-situ target DNA (tDNA) detection across 1 fM to 1 μM concentrations based on this nanoengineered interface, demonstrating 1755.95 nm/RIU sensitivity and a 1 fM limit of detection (LOD) – Two orders of magnitude lower than conventional optical DNA sensors (μM-level). The sensor exhibits a wavelength shift of 1.23 nm in response to complementary DNA, which is 8.2 times greater than that for non-complementary DNA, with a maximum wavelength shift error of 0.11 nm across three repeated experiments and a shift within 0.1 nm over 7 days for sensors with attached functional MXene Ti 3 C 2 , demonstrating excellent specificity, stability, and reproducibility. These advantages render the fiber optic device coated with MXene Ti 3 C 2 -AuNPs an effective solution for ALK gene monitoring and broaden its applicability for ultra-trace DNA detection in environmental and biomedical contexts

Fully dense (Zr, Ti)B 2 -(Zr, Ti)C-SiC ceramics were prepared by reactive hot-pressing using ZrB 2 , TiC, and SiC as the initial materials for the first time. Effects of SiC addition on the microstructure evolution and mechanical properties were reported. The in-situ reaction between ZrB 2 and TiC as well as the SiC addition leads to the grain refinement. Besides, elongated (Zr, Ti)B 2 plate-like grains are obtained due to the occurrence of a transient liquid phase, which leads to the crack deflection in the matrix effectively. Mechanical properties are improved significantly due to grain-refinement and solid solution strengthening, and plate-like grains toughening effects. The ZrB 2 -10 mol%TiC composite with 10 mol% SiC additional exhibits good comprehensive mechanical properties of the hardness of 20.2 GPa, the flexural strength of 803 MPa, and the fracture toughness of 5.7 MPa m 1/2 .

Thin-thickness and lightweight electromagnetic wave (EMW) absorption materials are critically needed for stealth technology in the military stealth field. The special structure of a material is important for improving its good EMW absorption. Herein, a series of porous metal–organic framework-derived LaCo/C-decorated Ti 3 C 2 T x (LaCo/C/Ti 3 C 2 T x ) composites are prepared by carbonization at high temperatures. Impressively, the minimum reflection loss of LaCo/C/Ti 3 C 2 T x –2 is −47.72 dB at 10.26 GHz (thickness 2.3 mm), and the optimal effective absorption bandwidth is 5.45 GHz (thickness 1.9 mm). The excellent EMW absorption properties are due to multiple electromagnetic loss mechanisms, such as polarization loss, magnetic loss, and multiple reflections and scattering. This work provides a new route for the application of Ti 3 C 2 T x -based derivatives.

To address the challenge of balancing hardness, toughness, and strength in Ti(C, N)-based cermets, existing research predominantly focused on composition design and sintering optimization, while comparatively less attention was paid to the critical role of initial Ti(C, N) powder characteristics in determining properties. In this study, high-quality Ti(C, N) powders with varying C/N ratios were synthesized via carbothermal reduction-nitridation (CRN) coupled with Ca treatment, followed by the fabrication of Ti(C, N)-20WC-5Mo-5Ni-5Co (wt%) cermets using vacuum pre-sintering assisted spark plasma sintering (SPS). The prepared powders were characterized by the absence of free carbon, low oxygen content, uniform morphology, superior crystallinity, and excellent dispersibility. After sintering, all samples achieved high densification, comprising the (Ti, W, Mo)(C, N) hard phase, (Co, Ni) binder phase, and trace residual WC. The ceramic grains mainly displayed black core-gray rim, black core-rimless, and white core-gray rim structures, characterized by overall thin rims. As the C/N ratio decreased, the dissolution-precipitation process during sintering was inhibited. Accordingly, hardness exhibited an initial decline followed by an increase, whereas the fracture toughness ( K IC ) showed an opposite trend. Transverse rupture strength (TRS) peaked at an intermediate C/N ratio. Cermet derived from Ti(C 0.44 , N 0.56 ) powder achieved an optimal combination of properties, with hardness, K IC , and TRS values of 1867 ± 12 HV 30 , 9.13 ± 0.21 MPa m 1/2 , and 1748 ± 75 MPa, respectively. The synthesized high-quality Ti(C, N) powders provided a crucial foundation for microstructural control and improved overall properties of cermets, and adjusting the C/N ratio served to further optimize the balance among hardness, toughness, and strength.

To support green transition of vanadium titanomagnetite blast furnace smelting, various low-carbon blast furnace atmospheres, including oxygen-enriched air injection (CO–N 2 ), oxygen-enriched H 2 -rich air injection (CO–H 2 ), and H 2 -rich air injection (CO–H 2 –N 2 ) were investigated to gain insight on the Ti(C,N) formation mechanisms. In this study, thermogravimetric analysis was first employed to investigate the kinetics of the TiO 2 reaction. Arrhenius-based kinetic modeling revealed that these reactions are primarily controlled by solid-state diffusion, and N 2 directly nitrides titanium oxides to TiN, and the activation energy decreases with increasing N 2 content. In contrast, H 2 lowers the activation energy of the reaction and promotes the reduction of TiO 2 to lower-valence oxides. Then, the carbothermic reduction of TiO 2 -bearing slags was investigated. Chemical composition analysis, XRD, and EPMA-WDS mapping demonstrated pronounced atmosphere-dependent variations in the formation of TiC/N phases. In CO–N 2 atmospheres, Ti(C,N) content decreases with increasing CO content and Ti(C,N) tends to agglomerate. With pure CO, only a few, sparsely dispersed TiC particles were detected. Whereas in CO–H 2 atmospheres, increasing the H 2 concentration markedly enhanced TiC formation, yielding uniformly dispersed particles with slight clustering. Therefore, the overall atmosphere effect on the amount of TiC/N formation follows the order: 100 pct CO < 80 pct CO–20 pct H 2 < 80 pct CO–20 pct N 2 < 60 pct CO–40 pct H 2 < 60 pct CO–40 pct N 2 < 30 pct CO–70 pct N 2 atmosphere (conventional blast furnace atmosphere). The detection of dopamine (DA) with high efficiency and sensitivity is crucial to understand its involvement in various biological and pathological functions. This study presents the synthesis of a novel composite material by hybridizing layered Ti 3 C 2 T x and CuNi nanoparticles via electrostatic interactions and its application in electrochemical DA detection. The Ti 3 C 2 T x /CuNi nanocomposites were favorably synthesized through hydrothermal approach and well-characterized using different characterization techniques. The performance of this material in electrochemical sensing was subsequently investigated. The key to its efficiency lies in the synergistic interaction between the materials, Ti 3 C 2 T x facilitates rapid electron transfer, while CuNi provides numerous catalytic centers, collectively boosting electrocatalytic aptitude. The sensor demonstrates excellent performance under optimized conditions, featuring a linear concentration range of 2–250 μM, enhanced stability, sensitivity, and a low detection limit of 290 nM (S/N = 3). This research suggests that the developed sensor holds significant promise in the electrochemical detection of DA as a biomarker in real-time detection of DA in blood serum samples. The rapid advancement of highly integrated electronics demands next generation electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding materials that combine lightweight, ultrathin, flexible, and mechanically robust properties with exceptional shielding effectiveness (SE) to mitigate signal crosstalk and ensure device reliability. In this work, we demonstrate the fabrication of high-performance EMI shields using highly conductive, additive-free aqueous Ti3C2Tx (T = O, OH, Cl, F) MXene dispersions synthesized under both harsh and mild etching conditions. These dispersions were engineered into freestanding thin films and functionalized cotton fabrics via vacuum-assisted filtration, enabling tunable EMI shielding properties through precise control of etchant chemistry, flake size, microstructure, thickness, and MXene loading. The EMI shielding improved with film thickness and the 13 μm thick film demonstrated exceptional EMI shielding of 60 dB. The freestanding heat treated Ti3C2Tx film with minimal thickness of 5 µm achieved a remarkable shielding effectiveness of 71 dB (which is 37% higher than the untreated film) corresponding to 99.99999% EMI attenuation. This film also exhibited an ultrahigh absolute shielding effectiveness (SSET) of 72,300 dB cm2 g−1, surpassing all previously reported MXene-based shields of comparable thickness. The improved stability was attributed to thermal conversion of surface OH groups to O-terminations, reducing interflake spacing and enhancing conductivity. The coated cotton fabric achieved an unprecedented SE of 82 dB due to the excellent wave attenuation associated with its porous structure. Notably, the fabric retained its shielding performance even after six months of ambient exposure, highlighting exceptional environmental stability. This study establishes critical structure-property relationships, revealing that induced porosity, meta-structure effects, large flake size, and optimized surface terminations synergistically enhance EMI shielding. By elucidating the interplay between material parameters and shielding performance, this work provides a foundational framework for designing advanced EMI mitigation technologies, paving the way for scalable, high-performance shielding solutions in next-generation flexible and wearable electronics.

In situ Ti(C, N), ring phase, and multi-phase enhanced Ni204-based alloy coating were prepared by adding various Ti/C/TiN ratios particles. The effects of the reinforcement phase on the microstructure, microhardness , tribological property, and microstructure characteristics at the interface between the coating and substrate were investigated. The results show that the coatings with a 5:1 mass fraction ratio of TiN/C exhibits the highest microhardness , which is 3.78 times higher than that of the original Ni204 coating. While, the coating with 21:7:2 mass fraction ratio of TiN/Ti/C exhibits the lowest friction coefficient , which is 4.44 times smaller than that of the original Ni204 coating. The addition of Ti and C particles promotes the precipitation of ring phase and carbides , reduces ceramic agglomeration, alleviates the floating of ceramic particles, and improves the bonding strength of reinforcement phases. Owing to the good mutual solubility among Fe, Ni, and, Cr elements, the diffusion happened at the interface between the coating and substrate.

TiB 2 reinforced Ti(C,N)-based cermet was produced by the reaction spark plasma sintering of Co, Ni, Ti, C, BN, Mo 2 C, WC, and TaC mixtures. To understand the mechanism of reaction sintering, systematic investigation on the microstructure evolution and displacement variation rule was carried out. In addition, the influence of C/BN molar ratio on the microstructures and performances of cermet was investigated. Except an initially increased pressure, three densification patterns were found. The first method was the Co Ti, Ti Ni, and Ti-BN diffusion reactions, resulting in a shrinkage of 22.06%. The second pattern was the viscous flow and dissolution-reprecipitation, which corresponded to the synthesis of Ti(C,N) and TiB 2 . In this process, the shrinkage ratio was increased by 35.62%. The final densification mainly originated from the viscous flow of metallic binder. It contributed to the transformation of macrovoids into microvoids, and an increased displacement of 30.10%. With the increasing of C/BN ratio, more C atoms diffused into Ti(C,N). Furthermore, core/rim structure-Ti(C,N) and coreless (W,Mo,Ta,Ti)(C,N) were fabricated. However, the microvoids in cermets enhanced. As a result, the hardness and fracture toughness first increased and then decreased. Results from this work are helpful to understand the reaction spark plasma sintering technique, and can enrich the preparation method of cermet.
