The effect of ultrasound, ozone, and their combination treatment on the removal of two common pesticides (trichlorfon and phoxim) in pak choi samples was studied in this work. The results showed that both ultrasound and ozone treatment alone can significantly remove trichlorfon and phoxim residues in pak choi (>90%), but they reduced the quality of pak choi (such as vitamin C and color). Ultrasound and ozone had a synergistic effect on the removal of pesticide residues in pak choi. The synergistic effect of combined treatment was evaluated from the perspective of pesticide removal speed, and found that their combination significantly accelerated the removal of pesticides. Compared with ultrasound or ozone alone, the removal rate constant of trichlorfon by the combined treatment increased by 121% and 347%, and that of phoxim increased by 159% and 367%, respectively. In addition, the combined treatment of ultrasound and ozone can well maintain the vitamin C and color of pak choi while removing pesticides. Therefore, the combined treatment of ultrasound and ozone can be used as an effective cleaning method to remove pesticide residues in vegetables. Practical applications Reducing pesticide residues in vegetables is of great significance to human health, and how to maintain the quality of vegetables as much as possible while removing pesticides is a key issue. In this study, the combination of ultrasound and ozone significantly accelerated the removal of pesticides, and retained the vitamin C and color of pak choi well. Therefore, the combined application of ultrasound and ozone has the potential to be an industrial cleaning method for removing pesticide residues in fruits and vegetables without compromising quality.

Poly(3-methylthiophene)/nitrogen doped graphene modified glassy carbon electrode (P3MT/NGE/GCE) was prepared through simple drop-casting of NGE, followed by the electrodeposition of P3MT film for sensitive electrochemical determination of trace amounts of pesticide phoxim. The morphology and structure of P3MT/NGE/GCE were characterized by scanning electron microscopy; the electrochemical behavior of P3MT/NGE/GCE was investigated by cyclic voltammetry, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, and chronocoulometry. The preparation conditions of modified electrode, the dropping amount of NGE and polymerization laps of P3MT, were optimized. Under the optimized conditions, the reduction peak current of cyclic voltammetric curve varied linearly with the concentration of phoxim over the two linear ranges of 0.02–0.2 μM and 0.2–2.0 μM, and the low detection limit was 6.4 nM according to lower linear range (S/N = 3). The sensor also exhibited excellent selectivity to phoxim over a wide range of possible interferents including ions, biomolecules, common environment pollutants and widely-used organophosphate pesticides. Moreover, the satisfactory practical feasibility of the sensor was evaluated by the environmental phoxim measurements.

Meteorus pulchricornis (Wesmael) (Hymenoptera: Braconidae) is a preponderant endoparasitoid wasp, attacking the larvae of many lepidopteran pests. We present the first body transcriptome dataset for M. pulchricornis . In total, 50,781,796 clean reads were obtained and 33,144 unigenes were assembled; 15,458 unigenes showed a significant similarity (E value < 10 −5 ) to known proteins in the NCBI non-redundant protein database . Gene ontology and cluster of orthologous group analyses were performed to classify the functions of genes. To better understand the role of glutathione-S-transferases (GSTs) in detoxification mechanism in M. pulchricornis , we identified seventeen GST genes ( MpulGSTs ) from the body transcriptome. Among these, fifteen MpulGSTs belonged to cytosolic GSTs and the other two belonged to microsomal classes. The cytosolic GSTs were classified into four different clades: four in delta, three in omega, seven in sigma, and one in zeta. The expression levels of these MpulGSTs after exposure to sub-lethal concentrations of phoxim and cypermethrin were determined using real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction: seven MpulGSTs ( MpulGSTD3 , MpulGSTS1 , MpulGSTS2 , MpulGSTS4 , MpulGSTS6 MpulGSTO3 , and MpulGSTmic1 ) and 11 MpulGSTs ( MpulGSTD1 , MpulGSTD2 , MpulGSTD3 , MpulGSTO2 , MpulGSTS1 , MpulGSTS2 , MpulGSTS3 , MpulGSTS4 , MpulGSTS5 , MpulGSTS7 , and MpulGSTmic1 ) were highly expressed, respectively. These results suggested that GST genes may play a pivotal role in detoxification process in M. pulchricornis . Our findings would provide a theoretical base for elucidating insecticide susceptibility and should promote functional research on specific GST genes in parasitoid wasps.

A novel low-density solvent-based vortex-assisted surfactant-enhanced-emulsification liquid–liquid microextraction with the solidification of floating organic droplet method coupled with high-performance liquid chromatography was developed for the determination of 3,5,6-trichloro-2-pyridinol, phoxim and chlorpyrifos-methyl in water samples. In this method, the addition of a surfactant could enhance the speed of the mass transfer from the sample solution into the extraction solvent. The extraction solvent could be dispersed into the aqueous by the vortex process. The main parameters affecting the extraction efficiency were investigated and the optimum conditions were established as follows: 80 μL 1-undecanol as extraction solvent, 0.2 mmol/L of Triton X-114 selected as the surfactant, the vortex time was fixed at 60 s with the vortex agitator set at 3000 rpm, the concentration of acetic acid in sample solution was 0.4% v/v and 1.0 g addition of NaCl. Under the optimum conditions, the enrichment factors were from 172 to 186 for the three analytes. The linear ranges were from 0.5 to 500 μg/L with a coefficient of determination ( r 2 ) of between 0.9991 and 0.9995. Limits of detections were varied between 0.05 and 0.12 μg/L. The relative standard deviations ( n = 6) ranged from 0.26 to 2.62%.

This study presents a novel method using a gold-inlaid iron-based nanoenzyme (Au@MIL-53(Fe)) to rapidly detect phoxim, a neurotoxic organophosphate pesticide, in animal feed. The porous structure of MIL-53(Fe) acts as small-molecular ionic isolation lattices (SMILES), creating a solid-matrix surface confinement induced fluorescence enhancement (SSCIFE) environment for gold nanoclusters (AuNCs), enabling stable fluorescence at 642 nm and 435 nm. Additionally, it catalyzes TMB oxidation by hydrogen peroxide for colorimetric detection. Ascorbic acid 2-phosphate (AAP) is hydrolyzed by acid phosphatase (ACP) to ascorbic acid (AA), altering fluorescence and color signals. Phoxim inhibits ACP, modulating these signals and restoring the TMB color shift. The detection limits are 1.10 ng/mL (fluorescence), 1.02 ng/mL (colorimetry), and 1.04 ng/mL (smartphone colorimetric platform), respectively. The recovery rate of this method in feed is 84% ~ 116%. It offers a rapid, sensitive, and reliable solution for pesticide monitoring and food safety assurance.
