Due to their high absorption coefficient and long carrier lifetime, halide perovskites are promising candidates for photocatalysts. For this study, the antisolvent crystallization protocol and the colloidal crystal templating approach were combined to fabricate the highly crystalline cesium lead bromide perovskite with inverse opal morphology (IO-CsPbBr3). Scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscope images demonstrate the three-dimensional well-ordered porous structures of the IO-CsPbBr3and their single-crystalline features. The presented approach not only provides hierarchical porous structures but also enhances overall crystallinity. When used as catalysts to promote the polymerization of 2,2′,5′,2″-ter-3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene, the highly crystalline IO-CsPbBr3exhibits a superior photocatalytic performance compared to its polycrystalline counterpart. Furthermore, the morphology and the crystalline structure of the highly crystalline IO-CsPbBr3are well preserved under photocatalytic conditions. This novel approach enables the preparation of a halide perovskite inverse opal with high crystallinity.

Metal-halide perovskites have been hailed as remarkable materials for photovoltaic devices and, recently, their star has also been on the rise in optoelectronics and photonics . Nevertheless, challenging issues, such as the thermal/chemical stability and high-performance devices with long-term stability, limit their practical applications. Here, we successfully prepared CsPbBr 3 NCs incorporated into mesoporous silica (NCs-MS) by a simple stirred of MS with CsPbBr 3 NCs blended in toluene solution. The resultant NCs-MS nanocomposite exhibit excellent optical performance and good thermal and photostability under illumination of UV light for 120 h. Additionally, NCs-MS nanocomposite is resistant to water, which are beneficial for the fabrication of white light-emitting diode (WLED) devices. Thereby a WLED was constructed by combining NCs-MS nanocomposite with Sr 2 Si 5 N 8 :Eu 2+ red phosphor on an InGaN blue chip, achieving a highly efficient luminous efficacy of 47.6 lm/W. Moreover, the WLED also demonstrate wonderful color stability under 120 mA current. This work opens up the exciting opportunity of using all-inorganic CsPbBr 3 NCs-MS nanocomposite for high performance and low-cost WLEDs applications.

CsPbBr 3 nanocrystals-glass composite scintillators based on Ce 3+ -doped borosilicate glass were prepared by melt-quenching method with further heat-treatment. Incorporating Ce 3+ into borosilicate glasses matrix , highly enhanced green emission was observed under 365 nm ultraviolet and X-ray excitation. The transmittance of the prepared CsPbBr 3 nanocrystals-glass is as high as 80% at 527 nm, fluorescence lifetime is 21.6 ns, and the luminescent quantum efficiency reaches up to 28% after thermal treatment (550 °C, 12 h). Compared with undoped CsPbBr 3 nanocrystals-glass, the X-ray excited luminescence intensity of Ce 3+ doped CsPbBr 3 nanocrystals-glass is around 190%, which indicates that the issue of absorbing ray energy in glass matrix can be effectively solved by incorporation of Ce 3+ ions.

All-inorganic cesium halide perovskite materials are intensively investigated due to their excellent photoelectric characteristics, but poor film coverage, unbalanced charge carrier transporting and insufficient exciton harvesting are remaining challenges to be overcome in order to achieve high electroluminescent (EL) performance in perovskite light-emitting diodes (PeLEDs). Here we show that these problems can be solved by introducing both a phosphorescent sensitizer (FIrpic) and an electron transporting material (TmPyPB) into all-inorganic cesium halide perovskite (CsPbBr 3 ). And highly efficient green PeLEDs with full coverage CsPbBr 3 :TmPyPB:FIrpic film as the emissive layer have been achieved, exhibiting the maximum luminance of 37784 cd/m 2 , the maximum current efficiency of 22.6 cd/A and the corresponding maximum external quantum efficiency (EQE) of 5.85%, where the EQE is 48-fold to that of bare CsPbBr 3 PeLEDs. The enhanced EL performance is attributed to less non-radiative current leakage , better film surface passivation effect, balanced charge carrier injection and transportation, as well as better exciton harvesting. It is believed that our work will provide an effective strategy to further improve EL performance of PeLEDs via better exciton harvesting.

Obtaining whispering gallery mode (WGM) lasing with prominent stability and high quality optical cavities is extremely desirable but still a great challenge. Despite the recent surge of reports on microspheres, nanowires and nanoplatelets metal halide crystals, there has few reports on the morphology of Hemispheres (HSs) in the form of uniform, component-tunable microcrystals. Here, CsPbX 3 (X = Cl/Br) HSs with smooth surface and regular geometry structure were synthesized on silicon substrates by chemical vapor deposition (CVD) method, and the wavelength of laser can be continuously tuned from blue to green (450–540 nm) at room temperature by varying the halide composition. WGM laser with polarization ratio of 0.70 and cavity quality factor Q of 2485 were realized in the CsPbBr 3 HS cavity. Besides, the crystal cavity suggested a high photonic and thermal stability for the superb capability of continuous stable lasing output under ambient conditions. All these results illustrate that the synthesis of cesium lead halide perovskite HSs may provide an alternative solution for fundamental researches and applications in optical devices.

In this work, we coated perovskite quantum dots (CsPbBr 3 ) with metal oxide (ZnO) by an in-situ oxidation strategy to obtain CsPbBr 3 @ZnO nanocrystals , which effectively improved the moisture stability of the perovskite material. In addition, the ZnO layer can also transfer the interaction with gas molecules to the inner CsPbBr 3 , giving the CsPbBr 3 @ZnO nanocrystals good gas-sensing properties at room temperature . This study considered CsPbBr 3 @ZnO films’ structural, morphological, and gas sensing properties; and simulated breath monitoring tests. Later a sensor based on CsPbBr 3 @ZnO nanocrystals was prepared and used to detect the presence of heptanal (a breath biomarker for lung cancer and COVID-19) in different gases, including air, artificial breath, and real breath. The sensor displayed a fairish sensitivity ( S = 0.36) alongside a brief response/recovery time (36.5 s/5.3 s) towards 200 ppm heptanal prepared with air, and the limit of detection could reach up to 2 ppm in the air and 3 ppm in artificial breath (made up of air, ethanol, isopropanol, 7-tridecanone, and n-tetradecane). Furthermore, the intelligent classification algorithms were used to identified the real breath samples containing heptanal (1–5 ppm) with an 82.5% accuracy rate in simulated breath monitoring tests. Theory calculation results showed that the good response to heptanal was attributed to both the positive adsorption energy (+3 eV) and the increased lattice distortion induced by heptanal. These sensors show great potential to be an effective method for early detection and treatment of lung cancer and COVID-19 for a healthy and prolonged life. We believe that this research will open the door toward more stable and practical perovskite-based sensors.

All-inorganic CsPbX3 (X = Cl, Br, and I) perovskite quantum dots have great potential in the field of white light emission owing to their excellent optical properties. However, to date the research on white light based on perovskite quantum dots has focused on downconversion luminescence, while the up-conversion luminescence properties of quantum dots have received less attention due to lacking the anti-Stokes luminescence properties of the material itself, resulting in limitations in upconversion white light emission to some extent. In this paper, upconversion lanthanide ion-doped fluoride nanoparticles and perovskite quantum dots are combined; the luminescence of the quantum dots is excited successfully by the upconversion luminescence of the nanoparticles and then composite samples with white emission are obtained with regulators of concentration.

Blue-emitting CsPbX 3 (X = Cl, Br, I) nanocrystals (NCs) have potential applications in white light illumination and full-color luminescent displays. However, current methods for synthesizing blue-emitting CsPbX 3 NCs face challenges in poor controllability, low photoluminescence quantum yields (PLQYs), and the harmful effects of short-wavelength blue light. In this work, we report on a SnBr 2 -mediated solvothermal method for the controllable synthesis of blue-emitting CsPbBr 3 nanoplates (NPLs) that exhibit high optical purity within the harmless blue light range. The pioneering use of SnBr 2 as a mediator in solvothermal reactions plays a crucial role in the controllable synthesis process. By increasing the amount of SnBr 2 , the as-prepared products gradually transform from CsPbBr 3 NCs to mixed CsPbBr 3 /Cs 4 PbBr 6 NCs, and finally to CsPbBr 3 NPLs. By further adjusting the solvothermal reaction conditions, CsPbBr 3 NPLs with controlled thickness (2.34–3.53 nm), regulated blue-light emission (459.4–466.6 nm) and a high PLQY up to 63.17% can be obtained. This study provides a feasible method for the controllable synthesis of perovskite NPLs and opens up new possibilities for the application of perovskite blue light-emitting devices.

All-inorganic halide perovskites have attracted significant attention because of their excellent photoelectric performance. However, several remaining challenges, including large-scale synthesis, strict limitations on the experimental conditions, and material stability, limit their practical application. In this study, we propose a simple ligand-assisted supersaturated recrystallization (LASR) procedure in order to prepare perovskite-related plum-pudding-like Cs4PbBr6/CsPbBr3 microcrystals (MCs) on a large scale and at room temperature. The LASR approach was proved to rely on the selection of an appropriate antisolvent. The synthesized Cs4PbBr6/CsPbBr3 MCs exhibit strong green emission at 520 nm with a narrow full-width at half-maximum (FWHM) value of 20 nm originating from the CsPbBr3 nanocrystals (NCs) embedded in the Cs4PbBr6 MCs. Additionally, the environmental stability experiment showed ∼20% PL intensity loss after storage under ambient conditions with 50% relative humidity (RH) for 2 months.

Precursor-state grain engineering improves CsPbBr 3 powders for thick-film fabrication of reasonable quality. • Scalable CsPbBr 3 phase-pure films of uniform microstructure are achieved by blade-coating method. • Reduced trap density and structure disorder improve carrier transport and suppress ion migration. • CsPbBr 3 thick-film X-ray detectors perform high sensitivity and low detection limit. Solution-processed polycrystalline metal halide perovskite thick films have emerged as high-potential candidates for scalable direct X-ray detection owing to their strong X-ray attenuation, large mobility–lifetime (μτ) products, and low-cost fabrication. However, the solution-processing route typically leads to abundant defects in the films, which act as charge trapping centers and facilitate ion migration, thereby limiting device performance and operational stability. Here, we present a precursor-state grain engineering strategy based on high-quality CsPbBr 3 powders to suppress defect formation. The approach is compatible with scalable blade-coating processes. By systematically comparing three powder synthesis routes, we identify ball milling as the most effective method, as it enables molecular-level mixing and pre-reaction of CsBr and PbBr 2 , yielding phase-pure and highly crystalline CsPbBr 3 powders. Thick films derived from these optimized precursors exhibit reduced trap-state density, suppressed ion migration, and enhanced μτ products. As a result, the optimized detector delivers a high sensitivity of 1.95 × 10 5 μC Gy air −1 cm −2 and a low detection limit of 72.4 nGy air s −1 under a low operating bias of 50 V . Moreover, the device demonstrates excellent operational and storage stability. This study establishes precursor-state engineering as an effective strategy for achieving high-performance polycrystalline perovskite X-ray detectors.

All-inorganic CsPbBr 3 perovskite quantum dots (QDs) are promising photocatalysts for CO 2 reduction, but their application is limited by aggregation and photoinduced instability. Herein, a 2D/0D BiOBr/CsPbBr 3 S-scheme heterojunction was constructed by anchoring CsPbBr 3 QDs on BiOBr nanosheets. The 2D BiOBr support promotes uniform QD dispersion and exposes more accessible active sites. More importantly, the intimate interface establishes an internal electric field that favors directional interfacial charge transfer in an S-scheme configuration. This pathway facilitates the depletion of photogenerated holes from CsPbBr 3 while retaining strongly reductive electrons for CO 2 conversion, thereby improving charge separation and contributing to enhanced photostability. The optimized composite delivers CO and CH 4 evolution rates of 170.4 and 33.0 μmol g −1 h −1 , respectively, corresponding to 3.8- and 3.2-fold increases over pristine CsPbBr 3 QDs, together with improved cycling stability. XPS, UPS, KPFM, photoelectrochemical measurements, in situ FTIR spectroscopy, and DFT calculations collectively support the S-scheme mechanism and reveal a lower Gibbs free-energy requirement for COOH* formation. These synergistic effects account for the enhanced photocatalytic activity and stability. Download: Download high-res image (150KB) Download: Download full-size image

Utilizing solar energy to achieve photocatalytic CO2 reduction represents a potential method for CO2 conversion. As an emerging semiconductor material, metal halide perovskites offer advantages such as a broad light absorption range, long carrier lifetime, and tunable energy band, demonstrating good application prospects in the field of photocatalysis. CsPbBr3 (CPB) is a representative metal halide perovskite, possessing stable active sites and excellent photocatalytic activity. However, CPB tends to suffer from structural instability in certain environments, and its high carrier recombination rate leads to inadequate photocatalytic performance. To address these issues, we loaded CsPbBr3 quantum dots (CPB QDs) onto porous polygonal tubular carbon nitride (PCN) to construct a CPB-CN composite photocatalyst with a type-II heterojunction, which enables efficient photocatalytic CO2 reduction. Compared with pristine CPB QDs, the CPB-CN heterojunction significantly enhances carrier separation. By further optimizing the CPB-CN ratio, the optimal 20% CPB-CN composite photocatalyst exhibited improved photocatalytic reduction performance and charge separation efficiency. The CO2-to-CO reduction rate reached 20.94 μmol g–1 h–1, almost 3-fold of pure CPB. The improved photocatalytic properties can be ascribed to efficient electron extraction and migration at the interface of PCN and CPB QDs, the high specific surface area, and enhanced visible-light harvesting. This work demonstrates the potential for the design of highly catalytically active perovskite-based systems.
