This study presents a sustainable F/O co-doped hard carbon (PD-F800) derived from panda excrement via NH 4 F-assisted hydrothermal doping for sodium-ion battery anodes. PD-F800 delivers a reversible capacity of 472.87 ± 5.1 mAh g −1 at 100 mA g −1 with an initial Coulombic efficiency of 66.2 ± 2.1 %, maintains 317.72 ± 4.0 mAh g −1 at 1000 mA g −1 , and retains 72.7 ± 3.3 % capacity after 1000 cycles. In situ XRD/Raman, EIS/DRT and GITT jointly indicate that F/O co-doping introduces non-bonded F states and regulates defect/interfacial chemistry, which lowers Na + adsorption/desorption barriers, increases Na + diffusion kinetics, and stabilizes an inorganic-rich SEI, thereby coupling fast surface-controlled storage with reversible interlayer/pore processes. This work establishes a safe, scalable route from waste biomass to high-performance anodes and clarifies the structure-interface-kinetics linkage enabling advanced Na-ion storage.

Due to the known adverse effects of bisphenol A (BPA), bisphenol F (BPF) and bisphenol S (BPS) have been widely adopted as substitutes. However, they are now detected at significant levels globally, often at levels rivaling or exceeding those of BPA, raises concerns regarding their potential ecological and health risks. Our previous work indicated that BPS exhibits lower toxicity than BPF in Chinese medaka (Oryzias sinensis). To validate this, we compared their toxicity in Japanese medaka (Oryzias latipes) using both acute and developmental exposure tests. In the 96-hr acute test, embryos exposed to concentration gradient showed a BPF median lethal concentration of 128 mg/L, while BPS exposure resulted in high survival even at the highest concentrations. Based on the observed acute toxicity, we investigated the underlying mechanism of BPF and evaluated vitamin C rescue. Vitamin C treatment effectively improved embryos survival rates. Subsequently, in the 15-day developmental exposure, 2 μg/L BPF significantly increased yolk sac edema and malformation rates. Bisphenol exposure did not show concentration-dependent malformation increases. Transcriptomic analysis revealed BPF induced more differentially expressed genes (DEGs) than BPS at the tested concentrations (0.02, 0.2, 2 μg/L): 177, 14 and 24 DEGs were identified in BPF-treated groups, respectively. In contrast, only 4, 2, and 12 DEGs were detected in the corresponding BPS-treated groups. Further analysis of the Gene Ontology and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes pathways enrichments provided further insights into the potential toxicological mechanisms of BPF. This study provides a comparative toxicity assessment of BPF and BPS, elucidates BPF's acute and developmental toxicity pathways, and offers toxicological data for risk assessment and regulation, which also provides a direction for in-depth research on toxicity mechanisms.

Because of the increased incidence and prevalence, ulcerative colitis (UC) has become a global health issue in the world. Current therapies for UC are not totally effective which result in persistent and recurrent symptom of many patients. Lactobacillus with anti-inflammatory effects might be beneficial to the prevention or treatment for UC. Here, we examined the ameliorative effects of the metabolites of Lactobacillus fermentum F-B9-1 (MLF) in Caco-2 cells and dextran sodium sulfate (DSS)-induced UC model mice. MLF displayed intestinal barrier-protective activities in Caco-2 cells by increasing the expression of Occludin and ZO-1. They also showed anti-inflammatory potential in interleukin (IL)-1β and IL-6. In order to further examine the in vivo anti-inflammatory effect of MLF, the MLF was gavaged in the DSS-induced UC model mice. The intragastric administration of MLF effectively alleviated colitis symptoms of weight loss, diarrhea, colon shortening, and histopathological scores, protected intestinal barrier function by increasing Occludin and ZO-1, and attenuated colonic and systemic inflammation by suppressing production of IL-1β and IL-6. Finally, the use of MLF remodeled the diversity of the gut microbiota and increased the number of beneficial microorganisms. Overall, the results demonstrated that MLF relieved DSS-induced UC in mice. And MLF might be an effective therapy method to UC in the clinic in the future.

MO-ZrO 2 -Ta 2 O 5 (M = Zn, Co) ceramics were prepared by solid-phase reaction method. Thermo-gravimetric-differential thermal behavior, crystal structure, and microwave dielectric properties of ZnO-ZrO 2 -Ta 2 O 5 and CoO-ZrO 2 -Ta 2 O 5 ceramics were compared in this paper. Both of them exhibited monoclinic wolframite structure. Densest microstructures with uniform grains were obtained at 1400°C and 1425°C in the cases of M = Zn and Co, respectively. ZnO-ZrO 2 -Ta 2 O 5 and CoO-ZrO 2 -Ta 2 O 5 exhibited comparable ε r ~ 20.26 and 24.30, while the former had Q × f ~ 60, 983 GHz and the latter had Q × f ~ 95,300 GHz. The grain growth exponent and activation energy obtained from the phenomenological kinetic equation indicated the growth process of ceramics. The grain growth of Zn-based ceramic was dominated by interfacial reactions and lattice diffusion. For the other one, the grain growth mechanisms were grain boundary diffusion and lattice diffusion at high temperatures. The grain growth progress of them both affected by lattice diffusion. The growth process of ZnO-ZrO 2 -Ta 2 O 5 ceramics was faster than that of CoO-ZrO 2 -Ta 2 O 5 ceramic. However, the grains were overgrown and grew slowly at 1425°C and 1450°C, which was caused by the excessive high temperature.

This research aimed to analyze the biocompatibility and growth behavior of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-associated colorectal cancer (CRC) cells on a polylactic acid/polyglycolic acid (PLA-PCL) composite nanofiber scaffold (CNS) using proteomic analysis. The PLA-PCL CNS was prepared
using a gel extraction phase separation (GEPS) method in a dioxane/ethanol solvent system, and the effects of gel temperature, PLA-PCL mass ratio (MR), solvent-to-polymer MR on the structure and properties of the PLA-PCL CNS were analyzed. Subsequently, Lappaol F (LAF) was incorporated into
the PLA-PCL CNS using electrospinning (ES) technology, and tissue specimens were obtained from HIV-associated CRC patients to investigate the impacts of LAF-PLA-PCL CNS on the growth behavior of HIV-associated CRC cells through mass spectrometry and bioinformatics analysis. Field emission
scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM) revealed that the CNS could be obtained at gel temperatures between −20 °C and −10 °C, PLA-to-PCL MRs of 1:1, 3:2, 7:3, and ethanol content of 5%–15%. X-ray diffraction (XRD) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) showed
that the PLA-to-PCL MR of 70:30 exhibited compatibility and crystallinity of the PLA-PCL CNS, while the porosity increased with an increase in PCL content. Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) analysis indicated a good biological activity of the PLA-PCL CNS. The relative cell proliferation
(RCP) and cytotoxicity grades exhibited no marked differences (P >0.05) between the cancer cells cultured with DMEM and those with PLA-PCL scaffold extract over time. Proteomic analysis identified 127 differentially expressed proteins (DEPs) in HIV-associated CRC cells co-cultured
with LAF-PLA-PCL CNS, and Gene Ontology (GO) protein and KEGG pathway enrichment analysis (KEGG analysis) revealed that the LAF-PLA-PCL NCS could affect the cell cycle (CC) of HIV-associated CRC cells. In conclusion, the PLA-PCL NCS exhibited good compatibility, crystallinity, and biological
activity, while the LAF-PLA-PCL NCS showed the potential to inhibit cell proliferation by affecting the CC.

The widespread application of bisphenols (BPs) in the industry has made them ubiquitous in the environment, causing potential environmental risks. Its unknown impacts on human being have received more and more attention. In this study, we have assessed the metabolic effects of perinatal exposure to bisphenol A (BPA) and its substitutes (bisphenol S (BPS), bisphenol F (BPF), and bisphenol AF (BPAF)) in female mice adolescent offspring and female mice adulthood offspring. 1 H NMR-based serum metabolomics showed that metabolic profiles were disturbed with BPA and its three substitutes exposure in female mice adolescent offspring and female mice adulthood offspring. In addition, age-related metabolic effects were found based on changes in serum endogenous metabolites and metabolic pathways. Specifically, metabolic pathway analysis showed that major disturbed metabolic pathways in female mice adulthood offspring compare with female mice adolescent offspring also changed significantly. With the increase of age of the female mice offspring, changes in the metabolic pathways became more obvious in the BPA treatment group. Conversely, partially disturbed metabolic pathways were restored in the BPS, BPF, and BPAF treatment groups. In conclusion, perinatal exposure to BPA and its three substitutes significantly interferes with metabolic profiles and metabolic pathways, and this metabolic effects were age-related. These results offer more detailed information about the age-related metabolic effects of perinatal exposure to BPA, BPS, BPF, and BPAF in female mice offspring and provide data for systematic evaluation of the health risk assessment of BPA and its substitutes.

A novel probe incorporating quaternized 4-pyridinium group into a BODIPY molecule was synthesized and studied for the selective detection of fluoride ions (F − ) in aqueous solution. The design was based on a fluoride-specific desilylation reaction and the “Turn-On” fluorescent response of probe 1 to F − was ascribed to the inhibition of photoinduced electron transfer (PET) process. The probe displayed many desired properties such as high specificity, appreciable solubility, desirable response time and low toxicity to mammalian cells. There was a good linearity between the fluorescence intensity and the concentrations of F − in the range of 0.1–1 mM with a detection limit of 0.02 mM. The sensing mechanism was confirmed by the NMR, electrospray ionization mass spectrum, optical spectroscopy and the mechanism of “Turn-On” fluorescent response was also determinated by a density functional theory (DFT) calculation using Gaussian 03 program. Moreover, the probe was successfully applied for the fluorescence imaging of F − in human epithelial lung cancer (A549) cells and alveolar type II (ATII) cells under physiological conditions.

This work developed a fluorescence polarization (FP) assay for simultaneous monitoring BPA, BPF, BADGE, and BFDGE in canned tuna. The assay was based on the competitive binding between bisphenol analogues (BPs) and dexamethasone fluorescein (Dex-fl) for mouse peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor α ligand binding domain (mPPARα-LBD*). The soluble form of mPPARα-LBD* was expressed in Escherichia coli strain Rosetta (DE3), as a recognition element on detection of BPs. Under optimized conditions, four bisphenol analytes were detected at concentrations corresponding to the specific migration limits (SMLs) as required by the European Union. The FP assay showed IC50 values of 2.80, 6.51, 1.72, and 4.28 mg L−1 with a limit of detection of 0.35, 0.08, 0.10, and 0.49 mg L−1 for BPA, BPF, BADGE, and BFDGE, respectively. The analysis of spiked canned tuna samples showed the acceptable recoveries ranged from 87.9% to 77.3%, with variation coefficients ranging from 9.0% to 15.8%. With the high sensitivity and wide-range affinities to BPs, the developed assay based on mPPARα-LBD* exhibited the potential to be a screening assay for fast detection of BPs in canned tuna.

Axial coordination of heteroatoms to the metal sites in M-N-C catalysts exerts a direct modulation of the electronic distribution by forming a bond with the metal center, thereby optimizing its intrinsic oxygen reduction reaction (ORR). However, the steric hindrance introduced by axially coordinated heteroatoms limits reactant accessibility, potentially suppressing the overall catalytic activity. This study provides an HF wet etching strategy to synthesize a hollow porous ZIF-derived nitrogen-doped carbon-supported F-axially coordinated single-atom iron catalyst (F-Fe 1 @HNC), which simultaneously achieves F-axial coordination and high reactant accessibility. Consequently, the F-Fe 1 @HNC catalyst demonstrates outstanding ORR performance in both alkaline (0.919 V) and acidic (0.797 V) electrolytes. When employed as a cathode material in a zinc-air battery, F-Fe 1 @HNC achieves an open-circuit potential of 1.477 V and a power density of 256 mW cm −2 , significantly outperforming commercial Pt/C catalysts. Density functional theory confirmed that F-coordination altered the electronic distribution at Fe-N-C sites, optimizing the adsorption of oxygen-containing intermediates. This work highlights the importance of electron-withdrawing groups in creating the electron asymmetry at Fe-N-C sites, providing profound insights into designing highly efficient ORR catalysts. The F-axis coordinated Fe-N-C catalyst breaks the limitation imposed by spatial steric hindrance and significantly improves the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) performance. Addressing water pollution and energy shortage simultaneously remains a key environmental challenge, yet conventional water treatment rarely removes pollutants while recovering energy. Phthalate esters (PAEs), a class of toxic and persistent emerging contaminants, urgently require advanced oxidation technologies. Herein, an efficient photoelectrocatalytic (PEC) system was developed based on S-scheme F-BiOF/TiO 2 nanocones (NCs) photoanode for deep degradation of the representative PAEs, dibutyl phthalate (DBP), with simultaneous hydrogen (H 2 ) evolution. BiOF was first loaded onto TiO₂ NCs to form a compact BiOF/TiO₂ interface, and subsequent electrochemical F activation regulated the interfacial electronic structure and strengthened the internal electric field, thereby promoting S-scheme heterojunction directional charge separation. This design retained the strong oxidation ability of BiOF valence-band holes and the reduction ability of TiO₂ conduction-band electrons. Density functional theory (DFT) and spectroscopic analyses confirmed that F activation significantly strengthened the internal electric field and facilitated directional charge separation, thereby boosting PEC performance. Under simulated sunlight irradiation at 0.8 V, the system achieved 96.5% DBP removal and 967.7 μmol/cm 2 H 2 production within 90 min. Notably, the H 2 yield dropped to 559.3 μmol/cm 2 without DBP, demonstrating that anodic pollutant oxidation can promote cathodic H 2 evolution. Fukui-function revealed that the degradation of DBP initiated with preferential attack on its ester group, while HeLa cell assays confirmed decreasing intermediate toxicity. The system also showed robust performance in real wastewater, highlighting its potential for integrated recalcitrant pollutant removal and clean energy recovery.

Herein, nitrogen, phosphorus, and fluorine codoped MXene (N,P,F-MXene) was synthesized via thermal treatment using 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium hexafluorophosphate ([BMIM][PF6]) as the doping precursor. Comprehensive characterization confirmed the effective incorporation of nitrogen, phosphorus, and fluorine into the MXene lattice. Tribological testing revealed that N,P,F-MXene demonstrated excellent performance as an additive in lubrication, showing significantly reduced friction and wear. Specifically, it achieved an average COF of 0.109 and reduced wear volume by 62.5% versus the base oil. Furthermore, the N,P,F-MXene-based lubricant exhibited good adaptability under extreme operating conditions, sustaining stable tribological behavior over a broad load, frequency, and temperature range. Notably, its load capacity reached 500 N. Mechanistic analysis indicates that its superior performance originates from the synergistic effects of the physical filling and adsorption of N,P,F-MXene, coupled with the formation of a tribo-chemical film with low shear strength enriched with nitrogen/phosphorus/fluorine compounds and metal oxides in the friction process. This study provides an effective strategy for heteroatom doping of MXene and offers a promising pathway toward high-performance oil-based lubricant additives.

Exploring highly active, cost-effective, and long-life non-precious metal-based catalysts for the oxygen reduction/evolution reaction (ORR/OER) is extremely important for renewable energy conversion devices. Herein, a facile approach is proposed to fabricate a FeNi nanoparticles decorated 3D N, S, F tri-doped porous carbon nanoflower/nanotubes electrocatalyst (FeNi@NSFC) by a self-assembly pyrolysis process. The ammonium sulfate not only acts as a N and S source but also facilitates the self-assembly of 2D ZnFeNi-ZIF nanosheets into 3D nanoflowers. Meanwhile, the potassium fluoride serves as a F source and regulates the crystal growth as well as pore structure. The 3D nanoflower/nanotube structure benefits the exposure of reactive species and mass/charge transport. The optimized FeNi@NSFC catalyst achieved outstanding bifunctional catalytic performance with an overpotential gap (0.655 V), which was lower than the Pt/C + RuO 2 catalyst (0.670 V). Theoretical findings also revealed that the introduction of N, S and F atoms could tailor the electronic structure of FeNi nanoparticles, thereby enhancing the catalytic activity for ORR. Therefore, the FeNi@NSFC-assembled Zinc-air batteries (ZABs) delivered a peak power density (156.2 mW cm −2 ), and long-term cycle durability (550 h), surpassing Pt/C + RuO 2 -assembled ZABs. This work demonstrates a promising avenue for developing MOF-derived catalysts with well-defined morphology and multi-atom doping.
