Raman spectroscopy is widely used in the identification of substances. Raman spectra contain molecular information from various components and interference from noise and instruments. Therefore, using Raman spectroscopy to identify components is still challenging, especially for substances with high similarity. In this study, a class of highly similar products (methanol and ethanol) and a multicomponent mixture of propanol and water were tested using a portable Raman spectrometer. They are divided into 11 categories according to the volume fraction ratio. A total of 5,060 groups of Raman spectrum data were obtained, constituting the data set of this study. The deep neural network structure adopted in this study is based on ResNet architecture, on which the SE module in the attention mechanism is added, which increases the weight of some spectral features and achieves significant performance improvement. Finally, SE-ResNet achieves a recall of 0.95, a precision rate of 0.95, a Micro-F1 of 0.95, and an accuracy rate of 99.20%.

Non-stoichiometric copper selenide (Cu2 – xSe, x = 0.18 ∼ 0.25) nanomaterials have attracted extensive attentions due to their excellent thermoelectric, optoelectronic and photocatalytic performances. However, efficient production of Cu2 – xSe nanoparticles (NPs) through a green and convenient way is still hindered by the inevitable non-environmentally friendly operations in common chemical synthesis. Herein, we initially reveal the coexistence of seleninic acid content and elemental selenium (Se) NPs in pulsed laser-generated Se colloidal solution. Consequently, we put forward firstly a closed-cycle reaction mode for totally green production of Cu1.8Se NPs to exclude traditional requirements of high temperature and toxic precursors by using Se colloidal solution. In such closed-cycle reaction, seleninic acid works as the initiator to oxidize copper sheet to release cuprous ions which can catalyze the disproportion of Se NPs to form {{\rm{SeO}}}_{3}^{2-} and Se2– ions and further produce Cu2 – xSe NPs, and the by-product {{\rm{SeO}}}_{3}^{2-} ions promote subsequent formation of cuprous from the excessive Cu sheet. In experiments, the adequate copper (Cu) sheet was simply dipped into such Se colloidal solution at 70 °C, and then the stream of Cu1.8Se NPs could be produced until the exhaustion of selenium source. The conversion rate of Se element reaches to more than 75% when the size of Se NPs in weakly acidic colloidal solution is limited between 1 nm and 50 nm. The laser irradiation duration shows negative correlation with the size of Se NPs and unobvious impact to the pH of the solution which both are essential to the high yield of Cu1.8Se NPs. Before Cu sheet is exhausted, Se colloidal solution can be successively added without influences to the product quality and the Se conversion rate. Such green methodology positively showcases a brand-new and potential strategy for mass production of Cu2 – xSe nanomaterials.

Efficient, stable, and environmentally friendly electrocatalysts urgently need to be explored for hydrogen evolution reaction (HER). A novel and facile nickel–selenium–dysprosium (Ni–Se–Dy) electrocatalyst was synthesized on Ni foam via simple and feasible one–step galvanostatic electrodeposition . The prepared Ni–Se–Dy electrodes showed excellent HER activity in alkaline medium with low overpotential values of 72 and 173 mV to deliver the current density values of 10 and 50 mA·cm −2 . Tafel slope value (119.72 mV·dec −1 ) for Ni–Se–Dy electrode in 1.0 M KOH indicated that the Ni–Se–Dy catalyst followed a Volmer–Heyrovsky mechanism, and the rate–determining step of this reaction was a Volmer step. Electrochemical test and scanning electron microscopy results showed that the excellent HER performance of Ni–Se–Dy electrode can be attributed to surface morphology , better intrinsic activity, and high conductivity.

siRNA has demonstrated a promising paradigm for therapy of acute lung injury(ALI). However, the pulmonary mucus layer barrier powerfully hinders the therapeutic efficacy. Herein, we proposed to use dual drive power to enhance the mucus permeation of siRNA by constructing the neutral and targeted selenium nanozymes therapeutic system. The multifunctional selenium nanozymes (CWP–Se@Man) were synthesized by modifying with cationic water-soluble pillar arene (CWP) and mannose (Man). After loading CCR2-siRNA, the CWP-Se@Man reached electroneutrality that co-driven by electroneutrality and targeting, the mucus permeation capacity of CWP-Se@Man enhanced by ∼15 fold, thus effectively penetrate pulmonary mucus layer and deliver CCR2-siRNA into macrophages. Moreover, with optimizing the composition of CWP-Se@Man made of CWP (Slutsky, 2013) [5] or CWP (Ichikado et al., 2012) [6], the therapeutic system CWP (Ichikado et al., 2012) [6]-Se@Man showed better biological activities due to smaller size. In inflamed modes, the CWP-Se@Man nanotherapeutic systems loading CCR2-siRNA not only exerted pronounced anti-inflammatory effect through combining inhibit the chemotactic effect and ROS, but also effectively against ALI after blocking the circulatory effect of ROS and inflammatory cytokines. Therefore, this strategy of dual-driving force penetration mucus renders a unique approach for mediating trans -mucus nucleic acid delivery in lungs, and provide a promising treatment for the acute lung injury therapy.

CuInSe2 quantum dots (QDs) are one of the most important Cd-free fluorescent probes; they usually exhibited low fluorescence intensity, suggesting that a considerable amount of absorbed photon energy was lost as heat. In this study we aimed to improve the fluorescence intensity of CuInSe2 QDs and investigate their photoacoustic (PA) signal resulting from the heat dissipation, which was previously rarely reported. Cu–In–Zn–Se/ZnSe QDs were synthesized by adopting two strategies of Zn doping and ZnSe shell growth. It was found that there was an upper limit for Zn concentration beyond which the fluorescence intensity began to decrease. In addition, a blue shift of the emission peak of Cu–In–Zn–Se/ZnSe QDs was observed at high concentrations of ZnSe precursor due to the diffusion of excessive Zn. To prepare the dual-modal fluorescence and PA imaging probe, poly(maleic anhydride-alt-1-octadecene) (PMAO) modified with polyethylene glycol (PEG) was coated on the QDs, which led to a slight reduction in fluorescence. Cellular labeling on HeLa cells was performed to demonstrate the utility of these probes for fluorescence imaging. We further studied the in vitro PA imaging capabilities of the Cu–In–Zn–Se/ZnSe/PMAO-g-PEG nanoparticles, which showed a distinct PA signal beyond 1.0 mg ml−1. The current work demonstrated that a moderate amount of Zn doping is necessary for enhancing fluorescence and there is a limit beyond which the fluorescence will be diminished. We also demonstrated the proof of concept that Cu–In–Zn–Se/ZnSe QDs are able to serve as a potential PA imaging contrast agent.

As an important class of battery-type materials, transition metal selenides are widely investigated for application in hybrid supercapacitors. Herein, we report the two-step synthesis of bimetallic copper cobalt selenide nanoparticles embedded in N-doped carbon layers ((CuCo)Se/NC) by using metal-organic framework (MOF) as the functional templates. Benefitting from the Cu incorporation in CoSe matrix and integration of MOF-derived carbon layers, the optimized (CuCo)Se/NC electrode delivers a reasonably high specific capacity of 121.4 C/g at 1 A/g with outstanding rate capability and cycling stability. The full hybrid supercapacitor device based on the (CuCo)Se/NC electrode shows a maximum energy density of 16.3 Wh/kg at a power density of 155.3 W/kg with excellent long-term cycling stability over 5000 cycles.

In this work, a three-step (sulfurization-selenization-sulfurization) annealing process was designed to optimize the surface constitution of Cu 2 ZnSn(S, Se) 4 (CZTSSe) thin films, which was prepared by oxide nanoparticles-based approach. The devices with the Mo/CZTSSe/CdS/ZnMgO/ZnO:Al/Al structure were fabricated and their performances were studied. The additional post-sulfurization with low toxicity sulfur powder has negligible impact on the structure, morphology and composition of CZTSSe bulk, however, it improves open circuit voltage of device significantly. The open circuit voltage can be increased significantly from 408 mV (without surface sulfurization) to 497 mV (with surface sulfurization). This is benefited from the increase of surficial sulfur content and the broadening of the surface band-gap of the CZTSSe thin film. The result is confirmed by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy analysis. Such a crucial three-step annealing process promotes the power conversion efficiency from 4.71% (2-step) to 6.37% (3-step), which is the champion efficiency of oxide precursor derived CZTSSe solar cell.

The accumulation of organic selenium (Se) in grains is helpful in understanding its bioaccessibility in various Se-enriched rice cultivars after soil selenite treatments. In the present study conducted with two rice cultivars, the organic Se as well as the glutelin-derived Se and the selenomethionine (SeMet) percentage in grains increased with soil Se levels. The available Se that was detected in the forms of SeMet (∼40%) and selenite (∼12%) accounted for more than 50% of the total Se in grains, and no significant differences were observed between the two rice cultivars ( P > 0.05). Simulated gastrointestinal digestion showed that the digested grain SeMet increased with the soil Se treatment levels, whereas there were minimal changes in the percentages of selenite in the grain. Furthermore, approximately half of the available SeMet was derived from the grain glutelin . These results suggest that the non-glutelin-derived Se in rice should be further studied.

In this paper, Se-doped NiTe electrode materials for supercapacitor are synthesized through a one-step hydrothermal method by using Ni foam as Ni source and substrate. The as-obtained Se-doped NiTe electrode exhibits maximum specific capacitance of 998.2 F g −1 at the current density of 1 A g −1 , which is better than the value of NiTe electrode 603.6 F g −1 . Moreover, the Se-doped NiTe electrode assembled with AC electrode to form an asymmetric supercapacitor (ASC), which can extend the potential window to 1.6 V, and possesses of a superior energy density and power density of 42.7 Wh kg −1 and 800.6 W kg −1 at the current density of 1 A g −1 , respectively. In addition, the ASC shows an outstanding cycling stability (76.4% retained after 10,000 cycles).

Solution deposition approaches play an important role in reducing the manufacturing cost of Cu2ZnSnSe4 (CZTSe) thin film solar cells. Here, we present a novel precursor-based solution approach to fabricate highly efficient CZTSe solar cells. In this approach, low-cost elemental Cu, Zn, Sn, and Se powders were simultaneously dissolved in the solution of thioglycolic acid and ethanolamine, forming a homogeneous CZTSe precursor solution to deposit CZTSe nanocrystal thin films. Based on high-quality CZTSe absorber layer, pure selenide CZTSe solar cell with a photoelectric conversion efficiency of 8.02% has been achieved without antireflection coating.

The Cu2ZnSn(S,Se)4 (CZTSSe) has gained extensive attention in thin film solar cells due to their potential as a nontoxic, low-cost, and earth-abundant absorber material, and a rapid increase in power conversion efficiencies has been demonstrated in laboratory. Compared with the most successful hydrazine-based solution process, the nanocrystal-based ink method and non-hydrazine molecular precursor solution approach are more eco-friendly for fabricating high-efficiency CZTSSe solar cells. However, it is hard to obtain a complete large-grain CZTSSe absorber thin film which can facilitate the transport of photogenerated carriers while minimize grain boundary recombination. Here, we present a simple and effective strategy to significantly enhance grain growth of CZTSSe absorber layers by insetting Sb2S3, CuSbS2, and NaSb5S8 thin films. The incorporation of Sb-based thin films can induce grain growth in the selenization process, and did not produce the impurity phase confirmed by XRD patterns and Raman spectra. It was found that the order of the crystal growth promotion ability is Sb2S3 > CuSbS2 > NaSb5S8 under the same experimental conditions. The presented approach can be extended to other solution processes of fabricating CZTSSe solar cells to enhance their microstructural properties, which are critical for applications in CZTSSe absorbers with fine-grain layers.

To obtain high photovoltaic performances for the emerging copper zinc tin sulfide/selenide (CZTSSe) thin film solar cells, much effort has deservedly been placed on CZTSSe phase purification and CZTSSe grain size enhancement. Another highly crucial but less explored factor for device performance is the elemental constitution of CZTSSe surface, which is at the heart of p-n junction where major photogenerated carriers generate and separate. In this work we demonstrate that, despite the well-built phase and large grained films are observed by common phases and morphology characterization (XRD, Raman and SEM), prominent device efficiency variations from short circuited to 6.4% are obtained. Insight study highlights that the surface (0–250 nm) compositions variation results in different bulk defect depths and doping densities in the depletion zone. We propose that suitable sulfurization (at ~10 kPa sulfur pressure) drives optimization of surface constitution by managing the Cu, Zn and Sn diffusion and surface reaction. Therefore, our study reveals that the balance of elemental diffusion and interface reactions is the key to tuning the surface quality CZTSSe film and thus the performance of as resulted devices.
