CeO2 nanorods supported Co–CoOx catalysts showed high selectivity for higher alcohol synthesis (HAS) from syngas. The selectivity has found to increase with lowering the Co loadings, and the value over Co1/CeO2 (19.86%) is twice higher than that over Co5/CeO2 (8.67%). The active sites at the interfaces between Co0 and CoOx, or to say, Co–CoOx pairs, have evidenced to be responsible for HAS. The strong metal–support interactions between Co and CeO2 retard the reduction of CoOx and stabilize the intermediates such as CO–Coδ+. Likely, CO favors dissociating on the metallic Co surface to form CHx species, while CO is associatively activated on Coδ+ sites. Moreover, the structure evolution of the Co–CoOx interface was revealed during calcination, reduction, and reaction using in situ X-ray diffraction (XRD), in situ Raman spectroscopy, X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS), and in situ diffuse reflectance infrared fourier transform spectroscopy (CO-DRIFTS). The structure–performance relationship of HAS over Co/CeO2 was proposed.

A random terpolymer of poly(L-lactide-co-glycolide-co-ε-caprolactone) (PLLGC) was synthesized from L-lactide, glycolide and ε-caprolactone. The in-vitro hydrolytic degradation behavior of the PLLGC terpolymer was investigated as a function of the degradation time; the results showed that the degradation rate of PLLGC was lower than that of PLGA due to a reduction in the acidic degradation products. Therefore, we suggest the degradation rate of the PLGA could be controllable by introduction of ε-caprolactone into the PLGA martrix, while the physical properties (mechanical, etc.) were superior to PLGA.

The sluggish reaction kinetics between H₂O₂ and Fe(III) significantly limit the practical application of the Fenton process. Although nitrogen-doped carbon materials (C N) can promote electron transfer and facilitate Fe(III) reduction, further enhancement of Fe(III)/Fe(II) redox cycling remains challenging. Herein, we propose a synergistic phosphorus and nitrogen co-doping strategy to overcome this limitation. By optimizing surface electronic structure and porous characteristics, the prepared nitrogen and phosphorus co-doped carbon (CN–P) markedly improved the reduction efficiency of Fe(III). Phosphorus incorporation modulates charge distribution, enhances electron transport capability, and increases the redox activity of surface Fe(III), thereby accelerating H₂O₂-induced Fe(III) reduction. The optimized CN–P–4 catalyst exhibited a pseudo-first-order rate constant ( k obs ) of 0.51 min −1 , which is 2.68 times higher than that of C N (0.19 min −1 ), demonstrating effective acceleration of the rate-determining step in the Fe(III)/Fe(II) cycle. Spectroscopic and electrochemical analyses confirm that the enhanced performance originates primarily from electronic structure regulation rather than surface area effects. Despite possessing only moderate specific surface area with predominant meso /macroporous features, CN–P achieved efficient pollutant degradation through enhanced hydroxyl radical (•OH) generation. Mechanistic studies reveal that highly active surface Fe(III) species can be readily reduced by H₂O₂ without external energy input, initiating a self-sustained Fenton chain reaction. This work provides mechanistic insight and a rational design strategy for developing efficient and sustainable Fenton co-catalysts.

CA and FDH were respectively compartmentalized immobilized in different MOFs by self-assembly. • GDH was co-immobilized with FDH to facilitate in-situ cofactor regeneration. • The characterizations showed compartmentalized immobilized multi-enzyme was rationally constructed as designed. • This compartmentalized multi-enzyme system shows excellent CO 2 conversion efficiency. Multi-enzyme cascade systems provide an efficient route for CO₂ reduction and conversion into value-added products. Formate, as the first key product in CO₂ reduction, has attracted considerable interest. However, inefficient cofactor regeneration, limited enzyme stability, and mass-transfer constraints remain major challenges. Herein, a compartmentalized co-immobilized multi-enzyme system was rationally designed to enhance CO₂-to-formate conversion efficiency. Formate dehydrogenase (FDH) and glutamate dehydrogenase (GDH) were co-encapsulated within ZIF-L to enable localized cofactor regeneration and reduced diffusion resistance, while carbonic anhydrase (CA) was independently immobilized on DUiO-67 to facilitate CO₂ hydration and improve substrate availability. The two enzyme-loaded carriers were subsequently integrated via self-assembly strategy to construct a compartmentalized multi-enzyme cascade reactor. The resulting composite preserved the crystalline structure and morphology of the pristine carriers and exhibited a well-defined spatial distribution of CA, FDH, and GDH consistent with the design concept. The compartmentalized system achieved a significantly higher formate yield than free tri-enzyme systems and non-compartmentalized dual-enzyme immobilization. Compared with previously reported immobilized multienzyme platforms for CO₂ conversion, this strategy demonstrates superior catalytic efficiency. Moreover, the modular immobilized carrier coupled with cofactor regeneration is readily extendable to other cofactor-dependent redox cascade reactions, offering a scalable and cost-effective platform for CO₂ bioconversion. The co-amorphous (CAM) system has attracted widely attention for improving the solubility of poor water solubility drug and provide a formulation strategy for combination administration system. Paclitaxel (PTX) belongs to biopharmaceutics classification system (BCS) class Ⅳ drug, with the poor water solubility and membrane permeability. This study aimed to preparing the CAM system between PTX and curcumin (CUR) by rotary evaporation method. The solid-state characterization of CAM indicated that the PTX and CUR presented as amorphous state, compared with crystalline PTX and CUR, the amorphous system could improve the saturated solubility and dissolution with significantly difference, besides, the PTX absorption permeability increased after amorphization with CUR, and the rat pharmacokinetic study exhibited that the PTX-CUR had a high C max and AUC 0-∞ compared with crystalline CUR and PTX, Furthermore, the amorphous CUR and PTX exhibited the stronger anti-tumor efficacy in A549 cell model in vivo . In addition, PTX-CUR exhibited physical stability under the long-term storage condition. In conclusion, amorphization of PTX and CUR provided a promising mothed to improve the anti-tumor efficacy and oral bioavailability of PTX.

The cleavage and functionalization of C–S bonds have become a rapidly growing field for the design or discovery of new transformations. However, it is usually difficult to achieve in a direct and selective fashion due to the intrinsic inertness and catalyst-poisonous character. Herein, for the first time, we report a novel and efficient protocol that enables direct oxidative cleavage and cyanation of organosulfur compounds by heterogeneous nonprecious-metal Co-N-C catalyst comprising graphene encapsulated Co nanoparticles and Co-Nx sites using oxygen as environmentally benign oxidant and ammonia as nitrogen source. A wide variety of thiols, sulfides, sulfoxides, sulfones, sulfonamides, and sulfonyl chlorides are viable in this reaction, enabling access to diverse nitriles under cyanide-free conditions. Moreover, modifying the reaction conditions also allows for the cleavage and amidation of organosulfur compounds to deliver amides. This protocol features excellent functional group tolerance, facile scalability, cost-effective and recyclable catalyst, and broad substrate scope. Characterization and mechanistic studies reveal that the remarkable effectiveness of the synergistic catalysis of Co nanoparticles and Co-Nx sites is crucial for achieving outstanding catalytic performance.

Detection and control of nitrite are major concerns in recent years for ensuring food and environmental safety. In this study, Mn, N co-doped Co-Carbons (CoMnN-Cs) were synthesized by calcination of bimetallic Co-Mn zeolite-imidazolate framework (CoMnZIF-67) materials at different temperatures (600–900 °C) in nitrogen atmosphere. Many characterizations, such as scanning electron microscope (SEM), elemental mapping, and, N 2 adsorption–desorption were performed to analyze the morphology, structure, and composition of the CoMnN-Cs. SEM revealed the generation of rich carbon nanotubes (CNTs). Mn-doping was obtained, which could be seen from the elemental mapping. The characterization also revealed that the pyrolysis temperature has an important effect to catalytic activities. From obtained results, it was found that the CoMnN-Cs prepared at 800 °C (CoMnN-Cs-800), showed better detection performance compared with CoMnN-Cs developed at other temperatures. As a result, the CoMnN-Cs-800-based sensor manifested an extended linear range (from 0.2 to 7000 μM), a low detection limit of 0.16 μM, and high sensitivity. Meanwhile, the developed sensor exhibited good selectivity, reproducibility, and long-term stability. Moreover, the sensor achieved satisfactory recoveries for the quantification of nitrite in tap water and sausage samples. This study implies CoMnN-Cs-800 is a promising material for the measurement of nitrite. Graphical abstract

Rational design of high-performance bifunctional electrocatalysts to accelerate the sluggish oxygen reduction reactions (ORR) and oxygen evolution reactions (OER) in rechargeable Zn–air batteries remain an enduring challenge. The construction of multicomponent catalysts is a promising solution to achieve this goal. Herein, B and N co-doped interconnecting graphite carbon and carbon nanotube with the decoration of Co and vanadium nitride (VN) nanoparticles (Co/BN-CNT/VN) are synthesized using Co-modified polyoxovanadoborates as precursors. The optimized composite achieves superior bifunctional oxygen electrocatalytic activity and stability, which is comparable to noble metal catalysts and reported bifunctional electrocatalysts. Specifically, the half-potential of ORR reaches 0.85 V, and the overpotential of OER is low to 296 mV at a current density of 10 mA cm −2 . Strikingly, zinc–air batteries assembled based on Co/BN-CNT/VN demonstrate a small charge–discharge voltage gap of 0.873 V, a remarkable peak-power density of 156.3 mW cm −2 , and outstanding cycling durability (∼1000 cycles at 10 mA cm −2 ). This work affords a new alternative strategy to create cost-effective and high-potency bifunctional oxygen electrocatalysts for advanced air batteries.

Y 2.5- x Bi 0.5 Al x Fe 5 O 12 (YIG-Al x ) ceramics have been synthesized at 1175 ℃ by the solid-state reaction method. The effects of the co-doped Bi 3+ , Al 3+ ions on the phases, micromorphology, and dielectric and magnetic properties of the yttrium iron garnets (YIG) were investigated. Excessive introduction of Al 3+ ions led to the collapse of the YIG lattice and precipitation of the Bi 3+ and Fe 3+ ions; while moderate Al 3+ doping improved the dielectric properties , but not the saturation magnetization. The YIG-Al 0.2 ceramics proved to have particularly good electromagnetic properties ( ε r = 18.34 ± 0.05@11.19 GHz, tan δ = 3.09 ± 0.55 × 10 −4 , M s = 19.82 ± 0.55 emu/g). Additionally, tightly bonded Y 2.3 Bi 0.5 Al 0.2 Fe 5 O 12 /Ni 0.8 Zn 0.2 Fe 2 O 4 (YIG-Al 0.2 /NZF) composite substrates were prepared by co-firing at 1175 ℃. The composite substrates exhibited superior electromagnetic properties (YIG-Al 0.2 : ε r = 18.37 ± 0.05@11.15 GHz, tan δ = 3.08 ± 0.55 × 10 −4 , M s = 21.09 ± 0.55 emu/g; NZF: M s = 67.5 ± 0.55 emu/g), which were slightly affected by the diffusion of Ni and Zn from the NZF. Our findings show that YIG-Al 0.2 /NZF substrates have great potential for use as RF band circulators.

Norfloxacin (NX), as one of the most widely used antibiotics, is becoming a potential pollutant in water. Here, the cobalt-decorated nitrogen-rich carbon material containing abundant carbon nanotubes (Co@C-NCNTs) was synthesized by pyrolysis of the Co,Zn bimetal organic frameworks (Co,Zn-MOF). The introduction of Zn led to the formation of abundant CNTs with high aspect ratio and high N-doping in the carbon metrix. The obtained Co@C-NCNTs catalyst was applied to boost non-radical catalysis of peroxymonosulfate for NX degradation with high efficiency. The release of cobalt was greatly inhibited by Co-N interaction and carbon layer protection. The CNTs amount in Co@C-NCNTs and its catalytic activity were tunable with the Zn/Co ratio. At the optimal Zn/Co ratio, the derived Co@C-NCNTs delivered 92% removal of NX in 30 min, significantly higher than the single Co-MOF based catalyst. Free radical quenching experiments and electron paramagnetic resonance demonstrated the singlet 1 O 2 -dominated degradation process of NX accompanied by the •OH and S O 4 − effect. The electrochemical characterization verified that the electron transfer in the PMS system is greatly enhanced due to the presence of Co@C-NCNTs.

Competitive H 2 oxidation severely limits CO 2 selectivity (typically <50%) during preferential CO oxidation (CO-PROX) on Pt catalysts. While metal–oxide interfaces can potentially circumvent this trade-off, constructing architectures that spatially decouple CO and H 2 activation remains challenging. Here, we report a junction-confined FeO-Pt/SiO 2 catalyst in which FeO species selectively decorate Pt nanoparticles, creating well-defined and closely contacted interfacial sites. Unlike randomly distributed FeO in conventional catalysts, this configuration enables electron redistribution from Pt to FeO, as revealed by Bader charge analysis. This electronic effect preserves strong CO adsorption on Pt (required for CO activation) while dramatically enhancing O 2 activation at the interface. Consequently, CO oxidation proceeds via a dominant low-barrier interfacial pathway (0.20 eV), while weakened H 2 adsorption at the FeO–Pt junction mitigates competitive H 2 oxidation under H 2 -rich conditions. The catalyst achieves >70% CO 2 selectivity at complete CO conversion over 80–160 ° C and maintains stability for 100 h without noticeable deactivation under H 2 -rich conditions. This work demonstrates that precise spatial organization of metal–oxide interfaces can effectively decouple competitive reaction pathways, offering a generalizable strategy for designing selective oxidation catalysts beyond CO-PROX.

The co-deposition behavior of Co +2 and Fe +2 in ethylene glycol (EG) are investigated using cyclic voltammetry (CV) techniques. These results imply that Co +2 species can accelerate the Co-Fe co-deposition, while Fe +2 can inhibit the reduction of Co +2 . Moreover, the two effects can be improved as Co +2 or Fe +2 concentration increases. Microstructural and compositional characteristics of the samples show that Co-Fe deposits with various Fe content can be obtained from anhydrous FeCl 2 and CoCl 2 in EG. Scanning electron microscopy imaging of the surfaces of these Co-Fe alloy coatings shows that they present a dense structure with spherical “nodules”, the size of which is related to the Fe content. The electrocatalytic activity for hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) on the Co-Fe coatings is also investigated. These results indicate that its electrocatalytic activity can be improved as Fe contents increase from 2.2 to 9.8 wt.% and the Co-Fe alloy with 9.8 wt.% Fe exhibits the high electrocatalytic activity for HER with an overpotential of 124 mV at 10 mA cm −2 in 1 M KOH.
