Piezocatalysis triggered by ultrasonic vibration has emerged as an effective strategy to address the widespread environmental challenges and human health concerns. Nevertheless, the pursuit of high-performance piezoelectrics that can simultaneously realize catalysis and biotherapy still poses a significant challenge. Herein, we report a notable enhancement in piezocatalytic performance of BaTiO 3 nanoplates featuring highly exposed {001} facets. By controlling the exposure of polar facets, BaTiO 3 with highly {001} facets (I {001} /I {110} = 4.17) exhibits an impressive 1500 % improvement in degradation efficiency compared to BaTiO 3 with less-exposed {001} facets (I {001} /I {110} = 0.76). Through in vitro ultrasonic stimulation, BaTiO 3 also demonstrates a remarkable ability to regenerate neurons, facilitating the rapid differentiation of neural progenitor cells into mature neurons. The mechanism of how polar facets enhance the piezocatalytic activity is systematically investigated by finite element method (FEM) simulation and density functional theory (DFT) calculations, revealing that the enhancement stems from the abundant active sites and strong charge transfer ability. This study thus offers a comprehensive understanding of the relationship between polar facets and piezocatalytic performance, also providing inspiration for the development of high-performance piezoelectric medicine for nerve repair.

Lead-free (1 − x)BaTiO3–xBi(Zn2/3Nb1/3)O3 (x = 0.05–0.20) materials were fabricated via solid-state reactions. A pure perovskite pseudocubic structure is obtained for all compositions. Dielectric measurements reveal an intensified diffusion and relaxor-like characteristics from 5 mol% to 20 mol% Bi(Zn2/3Nb1/3)O3. Weakly coupled relaxor behavior is concluded from the exceptionally high activation energies of ∼0.20–0.22 eV from the Vogel–Fulcher model for x ≥ 0.10, which possibly results in the extremely low dielectric nonlinearity and extra slim polarization–electric field loops. An optimal discharged energy density of 0.79 J cm−3 with a high energy efficiency of 93.5% is achieved at 131 kV cm−1 for x = 0.15, which proves that the BaTiO3–Bi(Zn2/3Nb1/3)O3 material is a promising candidate for high energy storage applications.

Three-dimensional hierarchical structure coral-like BaTiO 3 nanoparticles have been self-assembled by a facile one step hydrothermal method . Cetyltrimethyl ammonium bromide (CTAB), Ba(OH) 2 ·8H 2 O and tetrabutyl titanate have been used as precursors. The prepared BaTiO 3 exhibits cubic perovskite phase at room temperature, and the coral-like architecture is a micro-nano hiberarchy consisted of dendrimer-like structure and trunk-like structure. By adjusting the hydrothermal duration and the precursor substances, a surfactant induced mechanism is proposed to understand the self-assembly process. UV-vis measurement demonstrates that the as-prepared BaTiO 3 nanoparticles exhibit dozens of times overwhelming absorptive character compared to the ordinary nanospheres at ultraviolet band, which is benefited from the coral-like porous framework. Moreover, halogen anions( F − , Cl − , Br − , and I − ) have been chosen to adjust the coral-like BaTiO 3 physical properties. Results show the halogen doping produces distinct modulation effect on the grain size, UV-vis absorbance and photoluminescence properties of the materials. The coral-like BaTiO 3 nanoparticle and its halogen modified ramifications offer significant opportunities to develop nano-laser devices, photon detectors, photocatalyst based on BaTiO 3 perovskite materials.

Polymer based composites with high dielectric constant were successfully fabricated using BaTiO3 nanowires with high aspect ratio as inorganic filler and PVDF-HFP as polymer matrix. PVDF-HFP/BaTiO3 nanoparticles composites were also prepared as a contrast. The BaTiO3 nanowires were synthesized via one-step hydrothermal method. The BaTiO3 nanowires and its two types of composites were characterized by X-ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy. For the composites, breakdown strength measurements, tensile tests and broadband dielectric spectroscopy analyses were also carried out. The results show that the two types of fillers are homogeneously dispersed in the matrix. The dielectric constant of composites filled by BaTiO3 nanowires is larger than that filled by BaTiO3 nanoparticles at the same content. Stronger interfacial polarization was found in PVDF-HFP/BaTiO3 nanowire composites. Two theoretical models were employed to predict the dielectric constants of composites, and the experimental data were consistent with the estimated trend. The enhanced dielectric properties of PVDF-HFP/BaTiO3 nanowire composites are attributed to the superior interfacial polarization and high aspect ratio of BaTiO3 nanowires.

Rational regulation of the migration and separation of photogenerated charge carriers is a pivotal strategy for optimizing photocatalytic activity. To maximize the potential of piezoelectric and plasmonic properties, W 18 O 49 /BaTiO 3 heterostructures were fabricated via a straightforward solvothermal process. As anticipated, the W 18 O 49 /BaTiO 3 heterostructures demonstrated a significantly enhanced piezo-photocatalytic degradation of tetracycline under ultraviolet, visible, and near-infrared light irradiation combined with ultrasound stimulation, outperforming both bare BaTiO 3 and W 18 O 49 . In-depth investigations indicate that the remarkable piezo-photocatalytic performance of the W 18 O 49 /BaTiO 3 heterostructures arises from their exceptional photon energy harvesting across the ultraviolet (UV) to near infrared (NIR) spectrum driven by the localized surface plasmon resonance effect of W 18 O 49 , as well as the enhanced charge-carrier separation facilitated by the polarized electric field of BaTiO 3 and the built-in electric field of the heterojunction. Consequently, the hybrid W 18 O 49 /BaTiO 3 heterostructure, which exploits synergistic piezoelectric and plasmonic effects, demonstrates great potential for antibiotic pollutant treatment.

The power supply system is an important part of modern electronic equipment. Traditional batteries have disadvantages such as large volume and poor flexibility. Nanogenerators possess characteristics such as miniaturization, sustainable power supply, and independence from external energy sources. In this work, a piezo-triboelectric hybridized nanogenerator is developed. Barium titanate (BaTiO 3 ) and MXene (Ti 3 C 2 ) are incorporated into the electrospinning process of polyacrylonitrile (PAN), resulting in an electrospun PAN/BaTiO 3 /MXene nanofibrous membrane with significantly enhanced piezoelectric properties in comparison with the pure PAN fibrous membrane. Meanwhile, the electronegative properties of the PAN/BaTiO 3 /MXene nanofibrous membrane are augmented as the negative layer during contact and separation friction. The piezoelectric output voltage of the PAN/BaTiO 3 /MXene nanofibrous membrane reaches up to 6.4 V. When a nickel-copper conductive fabric is used as the positive layer, the piezo-triboelectric hybridized nanogenerator produces an output voltage of 11.3 V, an output current of 300nA, and a maximum output power density of 3.4 mW·m −2 over a contact-separation area of only 2 × 2 cm 2 . In addition, given that MXene itself exhibits excellent photothermal conversion ability, the PAN/BaTiO 3 /MXene nanofibrous membrane can be quickly heated up to about 54℃ under near-infrared irradiation at a power of 0.8 W·cm −2 , highlighting its potential in photothermal-therapy applications.

Textiles have broad application prospects in the fields of flexible sensors and intelligent wearable devices due to their excellent breathability, softness, and structural elasticity. Piezoelectric sensors have become a hot topic in the field of wearable applications due to their ability to perform long-term sensing and detection. This article enhances the performance of composite materials by adding polydopamine (PDA) to improve the interaction between polymer matrix and nanofillers, and optimizes the composite nanofiber membrane synthesized by electrospinning polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) and barium titanate (BTO) nanoparticles. The content of β-phase in the optimized PVDF–BTO nanofiber membrane reached 81.58%. In bending mode, its open-circuit voltage reaches 10.36 V. Under vertical pressure conditions, when the pressure is 2.914N, the voltage of the sensor reaches 13.35 V, and the sensitivity of the nanofiber membrane is 2.918VN −1 , with a good linear relationship. This flexible piezoelectric sensor demonstrates various potential applications, including facial recognition, speech recognition, motion monitoring, etc. This research provides a simple and convenient way to develop high-performance self-powered wearable electronic products.

The arrangement of anisotropic dielectric fillers in polymer matrix can lead to a significant enhancement of dielectric properties along a specific direction, enabling the rapid development of integrated circuits and high-performance microelectronic devices. In this work, magnetic barium titanate nanofibers/polyimide composite films (mBT NFs/PI) with vertically oriented structures were constructed with the assistant of magnetic field. The dielectric constant was significantly increased from 20.8 to 39.1 at a filler content of 30 wt%, as compared to the randomly aligned films. However, the breakdown strength was affected. Addressing this issue, an optimized core-shell structure was fabricated by introducing insulated and thermo-conductive boron nitride (BN) “shell” on the surface of mBT NFs by coaxial electrospinning. The obtained mBT@BN/PI nanocomposite exhibits improved thermal conductivity and breakdown strength, while maintaining a high dielectric constant. This work highlights an effective strategy to achieve excellent dielectric properties and thermal conductivity for high-temperature dielectric capacitor materials.

Ferroelectric materials, known for their superior spontaneous polarization and pyroelectric and photovoltaic effects, offer a promising avenue for fabricating high-performance optoelectronic devices. Herein, we report an ultraviolet (UV) photodetector (PDs) based on BaTiO3@MXene/4H-SiC heterostructure, with its photosensitive properties significantly boosted by the ferro-pyro-phototronic effect. In the detector, the incorporation of MXene nanosheets boosts the spontaneous ferroelectric polarization of BaTiO3 nanocrystals, thereby strengthening the built-in electric field at the BaTiO3/4H-SiC heterojunction. The resulted BaTiO3@MXene/4H-SiC heterostructure can work in a self-biasing manner, with robust performances, including responsivity (∼187.74 mA/W), specific detectivity (∼6.52 × 1013 Jones), external quantum efficiency (∼75.07%), response/recovery time (∼74.3/122.7 μs) upon 310 nm light irradiation. Particularly, the superlinear increase of the photocurrent, which results from the hot-carrier multiplication in MXene nanosheets, allows the device to produce additional photocurrent under ultraviolet illumination. Theoretical analysis confirms that the surface modification of MXene nanosheets can effectively alter the length of the Ti–O bonds on BaTiO3 nanocrystal surfaces, thus enhancing their spontaneous ferroelectric polarization. Being seamlessly integrated into an ultraviolet wireless communication system, the BaTiO3@MXene/4H-SiC self-powered photodetector demonstrates promising application prospects in optoelectronic interconnection circuits. This study provides an optimization strategy for advanced BaTiO3 nanocrystals toward future high-performance electronic and optoelectronic devices in existing applications.

To mitigate the profound impact of Microcystis aeruginosa algal bloom outbreaks on aquatic ecosystems and human health, a piezoelectric T-BaTiO 3 /Ag 3 PO 4 -PVDF composite photocatalyst (T-BTO/AP-PVDF) was successfully synthesized in this study. The catalyst inactivated 97.12% of Microcystis aeruginosa within 4 h by the combined effect of ultrasound and sunlight, and the inactivation rate remained above 88% after five cycles of reuse, which exhibits excellent inactivation effectiveness and stability. Under the conditions of piezo-photocatalytic, the analysis of the physiological properties of algal cells showed that T-BTO/AP-PVDF produced a large amount of •OH, which were active species that could effectively inactivate the algal cells and promote the degradation of organic matter, thus preventing the occurrence of secondary pollution. The composite photocatalysts were characterized using XRD, SEM, XPS, FTIR, PFM, and WCA. Combined with the results of quenching experiments, possible mechanisms for the inactivation of Microcystis aeruginosa by T-BTO/AP-PVDF were proposed. The application results in actual water bodies further proved that T-BTO/AP-PVDF is a new method for effectively inhibiting cyanobacterial bloom outbreaks and shows promising potential for application.

Particulate matter (PM) pollution is widely recognized as a major threat to public health, making the development of thermally stable filters for particulate removal in high-temperature environments critically important. However, the common polymer-based nanofiber air filters are inadequate stability when exposed to high temperature. In this study, the poly (m-phenylene isophthalamide) (PMIA) and nano barium titanate (BaTiO 3 ) which showed remarkable thermal endurance was utilized to prepare the PMIA/BaTiO 3 composite nanofiber air filter. The structure and performance of nanofibers were regulated by changing the addition of BaTiO 3 . The PMIA/BaTiO 3 nanofiber air filter with nano-protrusion structure exhibits high PM2.5 filtration efficiency (98.7%) and low pressure drop (60.4 Pa). Even after being exposed to treatment at 250°C, the PMIA/BaTiO 3 composite nanofiber air filter can still maintain stable filtration performance. The results showed that PMIA/BaTiO 3 nanofiber materials hold promise for eliminating particulate matter in high-temperature environments.

The challenges of difficult injection and low recovery in low-permeability reservoirs significantly impact production efficiency. Nanofluid flooding presents a viable approach to improve to enhance recovery in such reservoirs. In this study, an amphiphilic J nano-BaTiO 3 particle (JNB-P) with a particle size of 50–90 nm was synthesized. Characterization results indicated that, compared to unmodified Nano BaTiO 3 particles, the JNB-P molecules introduced long-chain groups, leading to improved dispersion and a transition of the particle surface from hydrophilic to amphiphilic. Settling experiments identified the optimal dispersive nanofluid (JNB-FS) as a combination of 0.25 % PEG400 and 0.025 % JNB-P, with complete settling time for nanoparticles decreased as temperature or salinity increased. Emulsification experiments demonstrated that, at a water-to-oil volume ratio of 5:5, JNB-FS and crude oil successfully emulsified into an O/W emulsion with an average particle size of 0.791 μm. Interfacial tension experiments revealed that the interfacial tension of oil–water decreased by more than 50 times after adding JNB-FS. Furthermore, with increasing temperature, the degree of emulsification initially increased before decreasing, while emulsion stability, interfacial tension, and expansion modulus gradually decreased. As salinity increased, the degree of emulsification and emulsion stability declined, with interfacial tension first decreasing and then increasing, and the expansion modulus initially rising before falling. Wetting improvement experiments indicated that the core transitioned from lipophilicity to strong hydrophilicity after soaking in JNB-FS for 60 h. Finally, flow experiments demonstrated that compared to first water flooding, the oil recovery increased by 15.82 %. The oil displacement mechanism of JNB-FS primarily involved reducing interfacial tension, enhancing rock wettability, emulsification, and improving the permeability of the injected water via nanoparticles.
