Nanostructured CoSe2 anode materials hold great promise for sodium ion batteries (SIBs), drawing much recent research attention. However, high-performance CoSe2 based anodes are still challenging to obtain. Herein, using zeolitic imidazolate framework-67 (ZIF-67) particles as the starting material, nondestructive hollow polyhedral hybrids have been synthesized successfully, which are structured from CNT-bridged carbon-coated CoSe2 nanospheres (CoSe2@C/CNTs). During the synthesis, the controlled in situ growth of CNTs introduces additional mesopores and open channels to the hybrids, and avoids serious agglomeration of the CoSe2 nanospheres. When employed as anode materials for SIBs with ether-based electrolyte, the CoSe2@C/CNTs show overwhelming merits over graphitic carbon-coated CoSe2 nanosphere polyhedral hybrids (CoSe2@GC) and bare CoSe2 particles. Specifically, the CoSe2@C/CNTs anode displays a high reversible capacity (∼470 mA h g−1 at 0.2 A g−1), a good rate capability of ∼373 mA h g−1 even at 10 A g−1, and an excellent cycling stability of over 1000 cycles with a capacity retention of ∼100% calculated from the 70th cycle. In addition, the electrochemical reaction dynamics analysis indicates a considerable capacitive contribution during the discharge–charge cycles, which is beneficial to enhance the rate capability and cyclability of the CoSe2@C/CNTs anode. Such results could be ascribed to the stable ether-based electrolyte-active material intermediates, improved electrolyte-active material contact, and shortened charge transfer paths afforded by the unique hybrid nanostructure.

Fiber-based wearable electronics represent an advanced technology, enabling innovative applications in flexible, lightweight, and textile-integrated systems for continuous, non-invasive health monitoring. This research introduces a novel method for fabricating highly stretchable, conductive microfibers through a wet-spinning process that incorporates carboxylated carbon nanotubes (CNTs) and Ti 3 C 2 T x MXene into a styrene-ethylene-butylene-styrene (SEBS) fiber matrix. By employing the synergistic effects between the one-dimensional (1D) CNTs and two-dimensional (2D) MXene, our approach significantly improves both mechanical robustness and sensitivity to deformation in the composite conductive network, effectively overcoming the limitations typically encountered in single-filler fibers. The SEBS/CNTs-Ti 3 C 2 T x composite fibers exhibit outstanding mechanical performance, with an elongation at break surpassing 1000 %, and are capable of enduring substantial strain without compromising electrical conductivity. These fibers maintain exceptional electromechanical stability and sensitivity across a wide range of strain conditions, ensuring reliable, real-time monitoring of human motion signals. Furthermore, a textile woven from these composite fibers shows impressive electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding performance, achieving an effectiveness of 45.1 dB within the 8.2–12.8 GHz frequency range. This bi-functionality emphasizes the substantial potential of the SEBS/CNTs-Ti 3 C 2 T x composite fibers for both healthcare and smart textile industries.

Although much work has been reported on anticorrosive coatings at this stage, most materials are confronted with a variety of harsh environments in practical applications, posing extreme challenges to the various properties of the coatings. In this study, carbon nanotube/montmorillonite/polyphenylene sulfide (CNTs/MMT/PPS) composite coatings were prepared by air spraying method. CNTs-MMT composite fillers with nanostructures were prepared by the amide reaction of 3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane (APTES) modified MMT and carboxylated CNTs. The particle size distribution test demonstrated that the amidated CNTs-MMT exhibited superior dispersion performance compared to CNTs and MMT alone, resulted in a more homogeneous and dense coating. The coatings obtained by combining the low surface energy of polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) exhibits hydrophobicity and has excellent self-cleaning properties. The electrochemical corrosion current density of the composite coating was three orders of magnitude lower than that of bare iron, and the corrosion efficiency was 99.43 %, demonstrating excellent corrosion resistance . The thermogravimetric test results showed that the CNTs/MMT/PPS composite coatings displayed excellent thermal stability up to 530 °C. Therefore, the CNTs/MMT/PPS composite coating possesses significant advantages in the field of anti-corrosion due to its enhanced durability, heat resistance, and corrosion resistance .

Composites consisting of two nano-or molecular-scale components tend to exhibit newer properties or characterizations compared to the matrix material. However, they are extremely limited in thermoelectricity due to the difficulty of achieving an extremely homogeneous distribution of the material on such a small scale. In this paper, we successfully prepared a series of composite thermoelectric materials of Sr 0.9 La 0.1 Ti 0.85 Nb 0.15 O 3 /carbon nanotubes (CNTs, with contents of 0.5, 1.5, 2.5, and 5.0 wt%). Highly homogeneous dispersion of CNTs was observed in the strontium titanate oxide (SrTiO 3 ) matrix prepared via high-temperature and high-pressure (HPHT) synthesis due to the interaction between SrTiO 3 and multi-walled CNTs. The experimental results showed that CNTs were uniformly dispersed in the composite powders synthesized using the HPHT method. Meanwhile, the electrical conductivity increased linearly with the increase in the CNTs content. The power factor reached 684 μWm −1 K −2 at 973K with 2.5 wt% CNTs composite concentration. This considerable enhancement is attributed to the increase in the charge carrier concentration as well as the higher electron mobility. In addition, the lattice thermal conductivity was suppressed due to enhanced Umklapp scattering. This ultimately leads to a thermoelectric figure of merit, zT , of 0.33 at 973 K. This work opens a new window on the thermoelectric properties of nanocomposite SrTiO 3 -based thermoelectric materials.

Graphene aerogels have attracted increasing attention in electromagnetic wave (EMW) absorption due to their ultra-low density and excellent dielectric performance. However, pure graphene aerogels have limited loss mechanisms, and it remains a challenge to introduce multiple loss mechanisms while maintaining lightweight. Here, reduced graphene oxide/metal organic framework (MOF)-derived carbon nanotubes (rGO/MD@CNTs) aerogels are successfully constructed by uniformly compositing GO and MOF particles by hydrothermal treatment and further in-situ growing CNTs by chemical vapour deposition method. GO and MOF particles form strong bonding sites due to their interaction to construct the aerogel with excellent mechanical property, while magnetic loss is also introduced. The MOF-catalyzed CNTs not only contribute to the formation of interface and dipole polarizations, but also effectively regulate the conductivity to improve impedance matching. rGO/MD@CNTs aerogel integrates multiple losses and optimal impedance matching. With a filling ratio of 6 wt%, the aerogel exhibits an excellent reflection loss of −51.6 dB and a wide effective absorption bandwidth of 5.9 GHz. In addition, the aerogel shows good thermal stability and antifreeze properties. Therefore, this work provides an effective strategy for obtaining the aerogel with multiple losses for efficient EMW absorption, demonstrating the potential applications of rGO/MD@CNTs aerogel in complex environments.

A portable and highly sensitive electrochemical sensor for nitrite detection was developed using a NixSy/Ni/N-doped carbon nanotube (N-CNT) nanocomposite. The hybrid was fabricated by in situ growth of Ni nanoparticles on MOF-derived N-CNTs followed by hydrothermal sulfidation to form NixSy. This hierarchical nanostructure provided abundant active sites, large surface area, and enhanced conductivity. Electrochemical studies revealed outstanding nitrite sensing performance, with a wide linear range (0.2 μM–22 mM), high sensitivity (163.77 μA mM−1 cm−2), and a low detection limit (0.2 μM). The sensor showed excellent selectivity, reproducibility, and stability. Real sample analyses, including water, beverages, and pickled brine, yielded recoveries of 98.71–103.87% with low RSDs. A smartphone-integrated portable sensing system was also demonstrated, enabling accurate on-site nitrite monitoring. This work offers an effective strategy for designing advanced, field-deployable electrochemical sensors for food safety and environmental analysis.

3D hand reconstruction is an advanced technology in human-machine interaction (HMI), robotic control, and medical rehabilitation applications. However, methods based on optical cameras and data gloves suffer from high equipment costs, complex algorithms, susceptibility to ambient light interference, and high drift of inertial measurement units (IMUs). Here, a soft electronic skin (E-skin) for 3D hand reconstruction, inspired by human biology is proposed, which integrates a multi-sensor fusion of stretchable carbon nanotubes (CNTs) strain sensors and microelectromechanical system (MEMS) ultrasonic transducers. A straightforward screen-printing process is introduced- to fabricate a multi-layer stacked structure of the E-skin. The substrates of both the E-skin and strain sensors use the same material, a polyethylene glycol (PEG) mixed polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) adhesive (PPA), which strengthens the bonding between the layers. The optimized PPA exhibits a low modulus (186 kPa), high elongation (>220%), and strong adhesion (1.2 N cm −1 ), while the PPA-CNT composite strain sensor demonstrates excellent sensitivity linearity (0.99) and minimal resistance drift over 500 stretching cycles. The PPA material combines the waterproof and biocompatible properties of PDMS, while also achieving high adhesion and softness, allowing it to maintain conformal contact during finger bending (strain >70%) without glue or bandage. A Quantile Regression Neural Network (QRNN) algorithm is introduced to improve dynamic accuracy and robustness in finger joint angle detection. The system's application in gesture recognition and VR interaction is demonstrated, achieving high accuracy in sign language recognition and robust hand tracking.

In the paper, we crafted a unique eco-friendly composite phase change material (PCM) with superior leak-proof performance by integrating modified biochar, carbon nanotubes (CNTs) of specific diameters, and myristic acid (MA) through a vacuum impregnation process. The biochar was modified with KOH, resulting in a specific surface area of 813.56 m 2 /g for modified biochar (KBC3) and an increased MA loading capacity of 63 %. Various characterizations confirmed the successful incorporation of MA into the porous materials without destroying their structure. To further enhance the PCM’s loading capacity and leakage resistance, CNTs of varying diameters were added to the KBC/MA PCM. With 75 % MA loading, KBC1.5/MA (75) showed significant shape leakage (8.5 % mass loss). However, KBC1.5/CNT1/MA (75) exhibited minimal leakage during testing, indicating improved leakage resistance. Notably, KBC1.5/CNT2/MA (75) exhibited high thermal conductivity enhancement (40.1 %), a high enthalpy of phase change at 143.5 J/g, outstanding enduring durability, and consistent thermal cycling curve after 50 cycles compared to single DSC curve. Biochar modification and CNTs significantly boosted the photothermal conversion efficiency of PCMs, from 0 % in pure MA and BC/MA (63) to 58.88 % in KBC1.5/MA, and further to 76.37 % in KBC1.5/CNT2/MA (63). The addition of CNTs with appropriate diameters had a profound impact on enhancing the PCMs’ performance, primarily due to carbon nanotubes’ high thermal conductivity and strong visible light absorption capabilities.

Three dimensional (3D) hierarchical carbon-based materials have attracted attention due to their excellent structural and microwave absorption properties. However, the construction of well-defined 3D multilevel layered structures currently relies on complex preparation processes and harsh preparation conditions. In this paper, hierarchical hollow porous carbon fibers (HPCFs) were prepared by modulating the sulfuric acid treatment time using low-cost polypropylene (PP) fibers as precursors. In situ doping and uniform distribution of a small amount of iron (Fe) in PP fiber sulfonation were achieved by introducing Fe into the sulfuric acid solution. Relying on the autocatalytic effect of Fe during high-temperature carbonization, the simultaneous growth of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) on the surface and inside of HPCFs was achieved by using the pyrolysis exhaust gas of sulfonated PP fibers as a carbon source. Due to the unique hierarchical structure and the synergistic effect of multi-polarization loss, the hierarchical CNTs/HPCFs composites (CNTs@HPCFs) exhibit excellent microwave absorption performance with a minimum reflection loss of −54.03 dB and a thickness as low as 1.9 mm. Moreover, an effective absorption bandwidth as high as 6.04 GHz (11.96–18 GHz) is achieved at thicknesses as low as 1.8 mm, covering the entire Ku-band. This study provides a new idea for the facile preparation of low-cost and efficient carbon fiber wave-absorbing materials, which is instructive for the structural design of CNT-loaded carbon fiber wave-absorbing materials.

With the advancement of 5G communications, the Internet of Things (IoT), and wearable electronics, there has been an increasing demand for lightweight, flexible, and high-performance electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding materials. In this study, AgNWs/TOCNF/CNTs* nanocomposite films with Janus structure were successfully prepared by vacuum-assisted filtration followed by hot pressing. The film consisted of a conductive silver nanowire (AgNWs) layer and a supporting TOCNF/CNTs* layer. Specifically, the electromagnetic shielding and mechanical properties were effectively enhanced by constructing a three-dimensional (3D) network within the TOCNF/CNTs* layer through ionic crosslinking between Ca 2+ ions and carboxylate anions (−COO − ). Comprehensive characterization demonstrated that the film possessed excellent mechanical strength (tensile strength of 93.92 ± 3.20 MPa), superior electrical conductivity (67,114 S/m), outstanding EMI shielding effectiveness (EMI SET of 63.70 dB, EMI SEE/t exceeding 10,284 dB·cm 2 /g, and a shielding efficiency of 99.999957 %), as well as rapid Joule heating response under low voltage (2.0 V, reaching 115.60°C within less than 6s). These properties underscore the film’s strong potential for applications in portable electronics, aerospace, and military technologies.

Fiber-reinforced thermosetting polyimide-based composites have broad application prospects in the aerospace field, which makes it particularly important to optimize their preparation process and improve their electromagnetic (EM) wave absorption performance. In this study, quartz fiber/polyimide@carbon nanotubes (QF/PI@CNTs) prepregs with uniform resin distribution and controllable content were prepared through in-situ polymerization combined with a film-coating method. These prepregs were subsequently laminated and molded by vacuum hot-pressing to obtain composites integrating EM absorption and high-load bearing capability. The QF/PI@CNTs composite at a low filler ratio (3 wt% CNTs), by constructing a stable three-dimensional conductive network and inducing multi-scale interfacial polarization effects, demonstrated excellent EM wave absorption. Specifically, the QF/PI@C-3 composite achieved full-frequency absorption across the entire X-band from 25 °C (2.98 mm) to 300 °C (2.01mm), while maintaining an effective absorption bandwidth (EAB) covering 88% of the X-band at 400 °C (1.78mm). The minimum reflection loss (RL min ) improved from -26.42 dB at 25 °C to -70.35 dB at 100 °C, and remained -29.17 dB at 200 °C. Moreover, the composite also has a relatively high thermal decomposition temperature (T d5% =557 °C) and flexural strength (501.8 ± 22.9 MPa). This research provides feasible insights for the design of structural integrated materials with high-temperature EM absorption capability.

In this paper, CNTs@PANi nanocomposites were prepared by in-situ oxidation polymerization of aniline, and their structure, morphology and conductivity were characterized. A mixed solvent of toluene and tetrahydrofuran was used to prepare dispersions of CNTs@PANi and poly(styrene-ethylene-butylene-styrene) (SEBS) triblock copolymer, and bilayer composite film was prepared. According to the solvent phase separation and uneven evaporation flux, CNTs@PANi self-assembled into the interconnected coffee ring structure on the SEBS matrix. The prepared bilayer composite film had excellent stretchability, and the conductivity of the functional layer was close to that of CNTs@PANi, which could light up an LED lamp under 100% strain and restore the topological structure. Electrochemical tests showed that the bilayer film had obvious heterogeneity. The impedance characteristics of the CNTs@PANi functional layer and the SEBS matrix were analyzed, and its heterogeneous corrosion resistance mechanism further discussed.Keywords:self-assembling;coffee ring;CNTs;PANi;stretchable;SEBS triblock copolymer
