Penicimutanin C, a new alkaloidal compound, was isolated from the neomycin-resistant mutant strain 3-f-31 of the marine-derived fungus, Penicillium purpurogenum G59, together with four known compounds. The structure of penicimutanin C, including the absolute configuration, was determined by spectroscopic and chemical methods. The absolute configuration of penicimutanin A was also re-confirmed by Marfey's and chiral HPLC analyses of the hydrolyzed products. Penicimutanins C and A inhibited the proliferation of five human cancer cell lines to some extent. Penicimutanin C is the third dimer of diketopiperazine and penicimutanolone, which are only produced by mutants of P. purpurogenum G59 isolated to date, and it showed cytotoxic activity against human cancer cell lines. The neomycin-resistant screening strategy has been previously successfully used to discover new compounds by activating silent metabolites in fungi, and the present results provide an additional example of the effectiveness of this method. The effect of aminopyridines substituted at different positions on the fluorescence properties deserves to be studied. Since 2-aminopyridyl-based probes have been reported, the effects of 3-aminopyridine and 4-aminopyridine on the performance of fluorescein probes were discussed in here. Two Schiff base fluorescein probes FN-1, FN-2 were designed and synthesized. Among them, since the ligand shows a highly selective and sensitive response to metal charge transfer (LMCT), the fluorescence of FN-1 can be quenched by Ce3+ ions in PBS buffer. At the same time, a specific precipitation reaction between Ce3+ and F− releases the free probe to restore the fluorescence of FN-1. Therefore, FN-1 can be used for the recyclable 'ON-OFF-ON' detection of Ce3+and F−. The detection limits for Ce3+and F− are 4.48 μM and 11.58 μM in concentration range of 0–50 μM and 0–150 μM. However, due to the para position of N and amino groups on 4-aminopyridine, the spatial structure of FN-2 cannot be complexed with ions, resulting in poor selectivity. Polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) membrane containing FN-1 were prepared for the real-time qualitative detection of Ce3+and F− in real water samples. FN-1 exhibits high water solubility and biocompatibility and has been successfully applied to biological imaging in vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs).

A simple, sensitive, and reliable method for the voltammetric determination of bisphenol A (BPA) by using carboxylic group functionalized single-walled carbon nanotubes ( f -SWCNT)/carboxylic-functionalized poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) (PC4) complex modified glassy carbon electrode (GCE) has been successfully developed. The electrochemical behavior of BPA at the surface of the modified electrode is investigated by electrochemical techniques. The cyclic voltammetry results show that the as-prepared electrode exhibits strong catalytic activity toward the oxidation of BPA with a well-defined anodic peak at 0.623 V in PBS (0.1 mol/L, pH 7.0). The surface morphology of the 3D network of composite film is beneficial for the adsorption of analytes. Under the optimized conditions, the oxidation peak current is proportional to BPA concentration in the range between 0.099 and 5.794 μmol/L ( R 2 = 0.9989), with a limit of detection of 0.032 μmol/L ( S / N = 3). The enhanced performance of the sensor can be attributed to the excellent electrocatalytic property of f -SWCNT and the extraordinary conductivity of PC4. Furthermore, the proposed modified electrode displays high stability and good reproducibility. The good result on the voltammetric determination of BPA also indicates that the as-fabricated modified electrode will be a good candidate for the electrochemical determination and analysis of BPA.

NH2-MIL-53(Al) nanorods studded with F− were successfully synthesized via coordination modulation with HF as a modulator. The investigation of the growth mechanism pointed out that F− plays a key role in the formation process. The incorporation of F− into the framework of NH2-MIL-53(Al) not only made the crystal morphology tunable but also magnified the fluorescence enhancement performance of NH2-MIL-53(Al) in water vapor, based on which a highly efficient humidity sensor was fabricated. Among different kinds of humidity sensors, the present sensing system stood out due to its fast response rate, good sensitivity and high selectivity with a low detection limit of 0.6 μg mL−1 (S/N = 3) and a wide detection range from 4 to 40 μg mL−1. On the other hand, a majority of the conventional electronic humidity sensors seriously suffered from temperature dependence, while the present sensing system got over this disadvantage. Therefore, the NH2-MIL-53(Al) nanorod layer-based fluorescence sensing system has the potential for application in the real-time monitoring of humidity under ambient conditions.

Microgravity induces observed bone loss in space flight, and reduced osteogenesis of bone mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) partly contributes to this phenomenon. Abnormal regulation or functioning of the actin cytoskeleton induced by microgravity may cause the inhibited osteogenesis of BMSCs, but the underlying mechanism remains obscure. In this study, we demonstrated that actin cytoskeletal changes regulate nuclear aggregation of the transcriptional coactivator with PDZ-binding motif (TAZ), which is indispensable for osteogenesis of bone mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs). Moreover, we utilized a clinostat to model simulated microgravity (SMG) and demonstrated that SMG obviously depolymerized F-actin and hindered TAZ nuclear translocation. Interestingly, stabilizing the actin cytoskeleton induced by Jasplakinolide (Jasp) significantly rescued TAZ nuclear translocation and recovered the osteogenic differentiation of BMSCs in SMG, independently of large tumor suppressor 1(LATS1, an upstream kinase of TAZ). Furthermore, lysophosphatidic acid (LPA) also significantly recovered the osteogenic differentiation of BMSCs in SMG through the F-actin-TAZ pathway. Taken together, we propose that the depolymerized actin cytoskeleton inhibits osteogenic differentiation of BMSCs through impeding nuclear aggregation of TAZ, which provides a novel connection between F-actin cytoskeleton and osteogenesis of BMSCs and has important implications in bone loss caused by microgravity.

In this study, Cu(OH)F nanoparticles are prepared through a simple hydrothermal reaction and their effects on the thermal oxidation and ignition characteristics of micron-sized Al powder (μ-Al) are explored for the first time. Thermal analysis in air atmosphere (50∼1050 °C) shows that compared to raw μ-Al, the normalized weight gain of Al in Al-Cu(OH)F increases by about 36.9%, 64.8%, and 106.3% when the added Cu(OH)F is 1 wt%, 3 wt%, and 5 wt%, respectively. After mixed with NH 4 ClO 4 , electric ignition and open-air combustion tests show shortened ignition delay time (by 42.6%∼63.8%) and increased maximum light intensity (by 48.9%∼117.8%) for Al-Cu(OH)F. The effects of Cu(OH)F result from its decomposition products, namely, HF and CuO. HF reacts with alumina shell to form AlF 3 , which sublimes at high temperature and thus exposes Al core instantly, while CuO can react with Al core to release heat, further facilitating the thermal oxidation and ignition processes.

V cation was introduced at Nb-site in CoTiNb 2 O 8 for the purpose of tuning the defects concentration. XRD analysis indicated that no secondary phase developed over the whole composition range. The sintering temperature decreased to 1150 °C in current work, compared with pure CoTiNb 2 O 8 ceramic (∼1250 °C). V-introduction inhibited grain growth and benefited grain homogenization. The decreased molecular dielectric polarizability and blue shift of Raman A 1g mode both made lower ε r from 59.2 to 41.8. Based on the X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), V doping decreased the oxygen vacancy concentration and tuned the Co valence state. The defects compensation by oxygen and Co vacancies significantly improved Q × f up to 38,012 GHz, accompanied with a 50% rise. The slight increase in τ f was attributed to the Nb-O bond energy reduction. The CoTi(Nb 0.97 V 0.03 ) 2 O 8 had a high ε r of 54.6 with good Q × f of about 38,012 GHz and τ f =96.47 ppm/°C. Enhanced Q × f and low sintering temperature were achieved simultaneously.

Gadolinium-doped ceria (GDC) is the most widely used buffer layer to prevent the reaction between YSZ electrolyte and La 0.6 Sr 0.4 Co 0.2 Fe 0.8 O 3-δ (LSCF) cathode for commercial solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC). However, conductivity and sintering activity are vital to cell performance. In this paper, Ca 2+ and F − co-doped GDC (Ca 0.03 Gd 0.17 Ce 0.8 F 0.06 O 1.84-δ , CGDCF) is used as a buffer layer to improve the performance and stability of SOFC. The co-doped F − and Ca 2+ significantly improve the sintering properties and oxygen ion transport of traditional GDC material. Meanwhile, the optimized sintering temperature is 1300 °C, with the lowest ohmic resistance . The peak power density of a cell with a CGDCF buffer layer reaches 1.809 W cm −2 at 850 °C, which is 37 % higher than that of GDC. In addition, the cell with the CGDCF buffer layer exhibits excellent stability during the 150 h test owing to the lower migration of La and Sr elements. Thus, the Ca 2+ and F − co-doped GDC oxide emerges as a promising material for buffer layer applications.

Herein, a stable and ultra-sensitive rutin electrochemical sensor was successfully developed. This sensor based on glassy carbon electrode (GCE) modified with C-GCS@ZIF-F/PL nanocomposite, which was made of thermally carbonized glucose (GCS) doped with flower-like ZIF (ZIF-F) and pencil lead (PL). The electrochemical response of rutin was considerably significant at C-GCS@ZIF-F/PL/GCE, demonstrating favorable conductivity and electrocatalytic properties for detection of rutin. Under optimal conditions, the linear range is 0.1–100 μM, with a low detection limit (LOD) of 0.0054 μM. It also exhibits excellent stability, reproducibility, as well as selectivity over common interfering ions such as Na + , uric acid, quercetin and riboflavin, etc. Meanwhile, the practical utility of developed sensor was evaluated in food samples including honey, orange, and buckwheat tea, achieving satisfactory recovery rates ranging from 98.2% to 101.7%. This paper introduces a novel technique for the detection of rutin in foods.

The cigarette beetle, Lasioderma serricorne (F.), presents a significant management challenge as a stored product pest. The beetle's increasing resistance to conventional fumigants necessitates the search for alternative solutions to mitigate losses in agro-based industries. Here, we constructed a small molecule compounds library containing twenty-eight methyl benzoate-related compounds (MBCs) and evaluated their repellent and toxic effects against cigarette beetles by Y-tube olfactometer behavioral assays, free-choice box assays and fumigation assays. We found that six MBCs (methyl 3-methoxybenzoate, methyl benzoate, methyl 3-formylbenzoate, methyl 2-aminopyridine-3-carboxylate, methyl 2-aminobenzoate and methyl 4-amino-2-methoxybenzoate) act as repellents for cigarette beetles. Notably, methyl benzoate (MeBA) was effective across a broader range of concentrations (200–4000 ppm) compared to other MBCs. Four compounds (methyl 3-formylbenzoate, methyl 2-aminopyridine-3-carboxylate, methyl 2-aminobenzoate and methyl 4-amino-2-methoxybenzoate) required higher minimum concentrations (500–4000 ppm) than MeBA for repellence, while methyl 3-methoxybenzoate was effective at a concentration (10 ppm) lower than that for MeBA. Mixtures of MeBA with methyl 3-methoxybenzoate and methyl 3-formylbenzoate enhanced the repellent effect against cigarette beetles when compared to MeBA alone. Additionally, exposure to varying concentrations of MeBA, methyl 3-methoxybenzoate, methyl 3-formylbenzoate, and methyl 2-aminobenzoate resulted in 100% mortality of cigarette beetles. Our findings indicate that specific MBCs offer the potential for their use as repellents and fumigants for this problematic stored product pest.

Aluminium (Al) powder is the most common solid fuel component in metastable intermolecular composites (MICs). It is used in the field of propellants to provide energy for the flight of rockets and missiles. However, the passivation layer overlaying its surface hinders its energy release. Using fluorine (F)-containing oxidisers may etch the passivation layer, enabling Al to achieve a more direct redox process and improving its energy-release capacity. Herein, NH 4 CuF 3 , which has nano-network structure, was synthesised through the solvo-thermal method, and n-Al was filled into the nano-pore channels using a simple ultrasonic mixing method to form a new n-Al/NH 4 CuF 3 MICs with excellent dispersion and interfacial contact. The thermal decomposition process of NH 4 CuF 3 was investigated, and the results showed that NH 4 CuF 3 could release hydrogen fluoride (HF) and ammonia (NH 3 ) gaseous products. The passivation layer on the surface of the Al powder was etched by HF, and the abundance of gaseous products during the reaction of n-Al/NH 4 CuF 3 Extended the combustion region. This can enhance air capture in the reaction system, minimise reaction sintering and aid in performing external work. Furthermore, n-Al/NH 4 CuF 3 exhibits a lower onset reaction temperature, shorter ignition delay time and greater external work ability than n-Al/CuF 2 and n-Al/CuO.

Tetramethyl bisphenol F (TMBPF), regarded as a promising alternative to bisphenol A (BPA) across multiple industries, is now incorporated into polymer coatings for metal cans used in food and beverage packaging. Recent research has highlighted possible health risks associated with TMBPF, yet its impact on ovarian function and the mechanisms involved remain inadequately understood. This study provides a thorough evaluation of TMBPF's effects on granulosa cells (GCs) and uncovers its transgenerational influence on female reproductive health. We exposed pregnant CD1 mice to TMBPF at doses of 50 μg/kg/day or 200 μg/kg/day from gestational day 7 (GD7) through postnatal day 21 (PND21). Our findings indicated that maternal exposure to TMBPF adversely affects the reproductive system of the F1 generation by elevating the levels of E2, FSH, and LH, reducing the ovarian index, and increasing the number of collagen fibers in the ovarian stroma. The human granulosa-like tumor cell line KGN was employed as an experimental model to assess the toxic effects of TMBPF on GCs. The findings revealed that sublethal concentrations of TMBPF induced mitochondrial dysfunction, cellular senescence, and disrupted redox homeostasis in GCs in vitro. Our transcriptome sequencing analyses indicated that ESRRB upregulation might play a critical role in TMBPF-induced cellular senescence. Additionally, TMBPF exposure induced KGN cells senescence and senescent cell accumulation in F1 mouse ovaries by promoting ESRRB/p21 signalling. Collectively, our results indicate that TMBPF disrupts hormone levels in the ovaries, accelerates GCs senescence and promotes ovarian fibrosis, adversely affecting ovarian function in offspring. This study provides new insights into the potential effects of TMBPF exposure on the reproductive system and the related mechanisms.
