Densities and viscosities were measured for binary solutions MEA (monoethanolamine) + 3DMA1P (3-dimethylamino-1-propanol), 3DMA1P + H 2 O and ternary solutions MEA + 3DMA1P + H 2 O at P = 0.101 MPa, T = 293.15 K ∼ 333.15 K. Based on the experimental densities of solutions, the volume properties of the excess molar volume, partial molar volume, apparent molar volume and limiting partial molar volume were calculated. Moreover, the viscosity deviation and viscous flow activation energy were calculated based on the experimental viscosity. Additionally, the intermolecular interactions of the mixed solutions were analyzed and discussed, and the Redlich-Kister equation was used to correlate the excess molar volume and viscosity deviation of the binary solutions.

Wood-based panels containing urea-formaldehyde resin result in the long-term release of formaldehyde and threaten human health. In this study, inorganic aluminosilicate coatings prepared by combining metakaolin, silica fume, NaOH, and H 2 O were applied to the surfaces of wood-based panels to obstruct formaldehyde release. The Si/Al, Na/Al, and H 2 O/Na 2 O molar ratios of the coatings were regulated to investigate their effects on the structure and formaldehyde-resistant barrier properties of coatings. Results showed that the cracks in the coatings gradually disappeared and the formaldehyde resistance rates of the barrier increased as the Si/Al molar ratio was increased from 1.6 to 2.2. This value also increased as the Na/Al molar ratio was increased from 0.9 to 1.2 because of the improvement of the degree of polymerization. As the H 2 O/Na 2 O molar ratio was increased from 12 to 15, the thickness of the dry film decreased gradually and led to the reduction in the formaldehyde resistance rate. When the Si/Al, Na/Al, and H 2 O/Na 2 O molar ratios were 2.2, 1.2, and 12, respectively, the inorganic aluminosilicate coating showed good performance as a formaldehyde-resistant barrier and its formaldehyde resistance rate could reach up to 83.2%.

Herein, an efficient, facile, scalable production of graphene dispersions via exfoliation of graphite in an environment-friendly PVA/H 2 O solvent system is reported. To warrant the impact of processing parameters on exfoliation efficiency, a systematic investigation is carried out using UV–visible spectroscopy. Under the optimal shearing parameters (1 h, 10 k rpm) with the PVA-to-fed graphite mass ratio of 10, a high concentration graphene dispersion (3.36 mg mL −1 ) is achieved. The estimated graphene yield is found to be 33% that further increases to 90% after sediment recycling. With the aim of detailed quality analysis, centrifugal cascading is adopted to predominately sort the graphene flakes from the upper end of the distribution. Through various characterization techniques, it is confirmed that the resulting dispersion comprises high-quality graphene flakes (1–5 layers) having thickness up to 1.48 nm, lateral dimension ranging from 0.3 to 4 µm, and quite a low level of defects ( I D / I G = 0.1). The statistical distribution histogram reveals that most flakes are single-layer (41%), including some bi-layer (21%) and tri-layer (28%), while the remaining can be said five or multi-layer graphene. Meanwhile, the efficacy of the PVA/H 2 O solvent system is also demonstrated using ultrasonic exfoliation, providing a high concentration of graphene (1.1 mg mL −1 ) in a relatively short time (8 h). Furthermore, the applicability of the PVA-stabilized graphene dispersion is addressed by fabricating various graphene products such as graphene paper electrodes, graphene composites, and graphene thin films. Impressively, the graphene paper electrode imparts an exceptionally high specific capacitance of 199.63 F g −1 in a potential window range of 0 to 2 V, and hence could be a promising alternative to traditional electrodes in supercapacitors. Conclusively, the exfoliation of graphite in a green polymer–solvent system offers to produce highly concentrated graphene dispersions at a minimal cost that could be widely applicable in different research areas, thus holding the potential for commercial viability.

Exploration of new types of borates is important because of their promising applications in diverse fields. Two new boroselenites, namely, M(B(SeO3)3)H2O (M = Al, Ga), which represent the first IIIA metal boroselenite, were synthesized by hydrothermal reactions. M(B(SeO3)3)H2O (M = Al, Ga) possesses a unique sandwich like double-layer structure formed by two 2D [MSe2O8]5− layers interconnected by 1D [BSeO5]3− chains. More interestingly, both compounds display large band gaps (4.86/4.79 eV) and moderate birefringences (Δn = 0.063/0.064 at 1064 nm) based on density functional theory (DFT) calculations.

Biphasic solvents have been attracting increasing attention in CO 2 capture recently due to its energy-saving potential. However, most current biphasic solvents still face the problem of limited desorption performance. To solve the problem, a novel biphasic solvent of 1-(2-aminoethyl)piperazine (AEP)/1-propanol/H 2 O solution was proposed. The absorption capacity was 1.26 mol CO 2 ·mol −1 amine, which was 2.3 times that of MEA. The regeneration efficiency was 74% and the cyclic capacity after 5 absorption-desorption experiments was 0.90 mol CO 2 ·mol −1 amine, which was 2.7 times that of MEA. The absorption-desorption performance of AEP/1-propanol/H 2 O solution was much better compared with most current biphasic solvents. Meanwhile, AEP/1-propanol/H 2 O solution had a low regeneration heat of 2.74 GJ·t −1 -CO 2 , which was 27.9% lower than that of MEA. Moreover, 13 C NMR analysis was used to investigate the absorption-desorption mechanism and species distribution. The multiple amino groups in AEP could react with CO 2 to produce carbamate and carbonate. The generated absorption products were mainly concentrated in the CO 2 -rich phase, while the CO 2 -lean phase contained much 1-propanol. Most of the absorption products were decomposed during regeneration, so the high desorption performance was achieved. Overall, AEP/1-propanol/H 2 O solution is a promising energy-saving candidate for industrial CO 2 capture due to its competitive absorption-desorption performance and low regeneration energy.

The solubilities and refractive indices in the systems Na 2 SO 4 –NaBO 2 –H 2 O and NaCl–Na 2 SO 4 –NaBO 2 –H 2 O at 323.15 K were studied by the isothermal dissolution method. The phase diagram of the ternary system is composed of two single-salt crystallizations for Na 2 SO 4 and NaBO 2 ·4H 2 O. A comparison of the diagrams of system Na 2 SO 4 –NaBO 2 –H 2 O from 288.15 K to 323.15 K shows that the crystallization region of NaBO 2 ·4H 2 O changes greatly as the temperature increasing, and the solid phase of mirabilite at 288.15 K and 298.15 K transforms into the nardite at 308.15 K and 323.15 K. The dry-salt diagram of the quaternary system consists of four salt crystallization fields for NaCl , NaBO 2 ·4H 2 O, NaCl·NaBO 2 ·2H 2 O and Na 2 SO 4 , five univariant solubility curves and two invariant points. On the basis of the Pitzer model, the lacking Pitzer parameters and dissolution equilibrium constants of the solid phases in this quaternary system were fitted with the solubilities and other thermodynamic properties in this study and literature. The calculated solubilities in the two systems are in good agreement with the experimental data.

The precipitation of CaCO3 and its kinetics for the CaCl2–CO2–Mg(OH)2–H2O system were systematically studied to develop a novel process for eliminating solid and liquid waste from the Solvay soda process. The effects of operating conditions including temperature, CaCl2 concentration, flow rate of CO2, and stirring speed on the reaction kinetics were experimentally determined. The results revealed that low temperature, high CO2 flow rate, and fast stirring speed can accelerate the reaction rate, and the mass transfer of CO2 is the controlling step. An MSMPR crystallizer was used to obtain the experimental crystal size distribution (CSD). A simplified population balance equation (PBE) was used to correlate the parameters on the basis of supersaturation. The soda solid and liquid wastes discharged from the Solvay industry were used as raw material to test the new process and validate the methodology. The precipitated CaCO3 consists of calcite or aragonite with high purity and uniform CSD. A double-effect evaporative-cooling crystallization process to recover MgCl2·6H2O and NaCl was simulated with help of Aspen plus and the electrolyte-NRTL (ELENRTL) model, suggesting economic benefits.

Monolithic Mn-Fe-Ce-Al-O catalyst with honeycomb cordierite ceramic as a carrier was reported for the first time for low temperature deNOxapplication. In the reaction of selective catalytic reduction (SCR) of NO with NH3, a NO conversion of above 80% at 100 °C was obtained. Notably, the catalyst also showed excellent resistance against SO2and H2O. About 60% NO conversion was maintained after successive operation in the mixed stream of SO2and H2O for 168 h. The Brunner−Emmet−Teller (BET) measurement, SEM, EDS, thermogravimetric analysis (TG), FT-IR, and XPS results of the used catalysts indicated that certain amounts of ammonium sulfate was formed on the surface of the catalyst. XPS results revealed that partial of Fe2+was oxidized to Fe3+during the reaction process, and Fe2+species have strong redox ability, which can explain the decrease in activity after reaction. In addition, SO2and H2O induced a transformation of Ce from Ce4+to Ce3+on the surface of the catalyst, which increased the amount of chemisorbed oxygen. Owing to these factors, the addition of Ce and Fe species contributes to excellent resistance of the catalyst to SO2and H2O.Keywords:honeycomb catalyst;Mn-Fe-Ce-Al-O;low temperature denitration;water and sulfur resistance

The solubilities of the LiBr−NaBr−KBr−H 2 O system and its subsystems LiBr−NaBr−H 2 O and LiBr−KBr−H 2 O were investigated at 288.15 K by the isothermal dissolution equilibrium method, and the corresponding phase diagrams were plotted, respectively. In the three systems, neither solid solution nor double salt was found. For the first subsystem LiBr−NaBr−H 2 O, there are two invariant points, three dissolution equilibrium curves, and three crystallization regions, which are LiBr·2H 2 O, NaBr·2H 2 O, and NaBr. An invariant point, two dissolution equilibrium curves, and two crystallization regions, which are LiBr·2H 2 O and KBr, constitute the stable phase diagram of the second subsystem LiBr−KBr−H 2 O. The phase diagram of the quaternary system LiBr−NaBr−KBr−H 2 O consists of two invariant points, five solubility curves, and four regions in which are LiBr·2H 2 O, NaBr, NaBr·2H 2 O, and KBr.

The exploitation of highly active and stable catalysts for reduction of CO2 and water oxidation is one of the approaches to facilitate scalable and sustainable CO2 reduction potentially at the industrial scale. Herein, a feasible strategy to rationally build an overall CO2 + H2O electrocatalytic reaction device is the preparation and matchup of a high-performance CO2 reduction catalyst and low-cost and highly active oxygen anode catalyst. A heterostructured nanosheet, γ-NiOOH/NiCO3/Ni(HCOO)2, exhibited superior catalytic activity in the oxygen evolution reaction, and was integrated with CoPc/Fe–N–C to build an overall CO2 + H2O cell with a current density of 10 mA cm−2 at a very low cell voltage of 1.97 V, and the faradaic deficiency of CO2 to CO was maintained at greater than 90% at 1.9 V.

The solubility data of the MgF2–MnF2–MnSO4–H2O quaternary system and its subsystems are crucial for the removal of magnesium ions from a MnSO4 aqueous solution as the MgF2 precipitate. However, these data recorded at 298.15 K have not been reported, except for the MnF2–MnSO4–H2O system. In this study, the solubility isotherms of the MgF2–MnF2–H2O, MgF2–MnSO4–H2O, and MgF2–MnF2–MnSO4–H2O systems at 298.15 K and MnF2 solubility in pure water at various temperatures were systematically measured. The results show that MgF2 solubility initially decreases sharply followed by a gradual decrease as the MnF2 concentration increases. MgF2 solubility rises with increasing MnSO4 concentration in pure MnSO4 and the MnF2-saturated MnSO4 aqueous solution. MgF2 solubility in the MnF2-saturated MnSO4 aqueous solution decreases to 2.3–6.5% of its value in the pure MnSO4 aqueous solution at a certain MnSO4 concentration. MnF2 solubility increases with increasing temperatures in the MnF2–H2O system. A Pitzer–Simonson–Clegg model incorporated in the ISLEC software was used to simulate and predict the solubility curves of the MgF2–MnF2–MnSO4–H2O quaternary system and its subsystems. The model satisfactorily represented the solubility data of the subbinary and subternary systems of the MgF2–MnF2–MnSO4–H2O quaternary system within the analysis error, except for the solubility isotherms of the Mg(Mn)SO4·7H2O, Mg(Mn)SO4·4H2O, and Mg(Mn)SO4·H2O solid solutions. The predicted solubility data of the MgF2–MnSO4–H2O system at 298.15 K agree well with the experimental data with a slight deviation of the MgF2–MnF2–MnSO4–H2O system. Based on the established model, the variation of MgF2 solubility curves with the addition of anhydrous MnF2 in MnSO4 aqueous solutions at different concentrations was predicted. The study provides theoretical guidance for removing magnesium ions from a MnSO4 aqueous solution via MgF2 precipitation.
