Schisandrin B (Sch B), a natural lignan extracted from schisandra chinesis, has exhibited various pharmacological activities including anticancer effects. However, studies on the preclinical toxicokinetic profile of Sch B have not been publicly reported. This study aimed to investigate the preclinical concomitant toxicokinetics of multiple administration of Sch B. Sch B was administered orally to rats and dogs at 150, 300, and 600 mg/kg/day and 50, 100, and 200 mg/kg/day, respectively, for 26 weeks. Plasma concentrations of Sch B were determined by a validated HPLC–MS/MS method. According to the toxicokinetic results, significant gender differences were observed in the rats, and females had higher exposures than males for each dosing group. Toxicokinetic analysis demonstrated a notable accumulation in the plasma of dogs during the repeated administration of Sch B, and the degree of accumulation increased with the increase of the dose. The findings of this study indicated that there were differences in the concomitant toxicokinetics of Sch B between rats and dogs. These results can inform clinical studies and provide valuable insights for future human Sch B risk assessments.

The reaction of 4-(hydroxymethyl)phenylboronic acid with triethanolamine was carried out to synthesize a boronic ester diol featuring boron–nitrogen (B–N) coordination. This diol served as a chain extender, allowing B–N-coordinated boronic ester bonds to be introduced into polyurethane (PU) networks. Toward this end, we first synthesized a series of α,ω-dihydroxyl polyurethane telechelics with α,ω-dihydroxypropyl poly(dimethylsiloxane) as the polymeric diol. By varying the molar ratio of the boronic ester diol to 1,4-butane diol, the α,ω-dihydroxyl polyurethane telechelics were synthesized with variable contents of the dynamic covalent bonds. Thereafter, the reaction of α,ω-dihydroxyl PU telechelics with 3-isocyanatopropyl triethoxysilane was carried out to gain α,ω-ditriethoxysiloxane PU telechelics. The latter were readily cross-linked via the sol–gel process to afford the mechanically robust PU networks, with Young’s modulus and tensile strength as high as 302.7 and 35.4 MPa, respectively. More importantly, the reprocessing properties were imparted to the PU networks. Compared to the control PU network, the reprocessing temperature was depressed to 120 °C. In the meantime, the shape memory properties of PU networks were significantly improved through the introduction of dynamic covalent bonds. Furthermore, the shape memory networks featured reconfigurability with the introduction of B–N-coordinated boronic ester bonds.

During the process of producing potassium fertilizer from salt lake resources, a large amount of waste liquid brine, rich in raw materials such as magnesium chloride, is generated. In this work, a MoS2/MgAl-LDH composite material was constructed using the secondary hydrothermal technique. Characterizations including X-ray diffractometer (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) confirmed the distribution of MoS2nanosheets on the surface of MgAl-LDH. Under full-spectrum irradiation, the degradation efficiency of Rhodamine B reached 85.5%, which was 69.2% higher than that of MgAl-LDH alone. The results from the electrochemical, UV-Vis, and XPS-VB tests indicate that the internal electric field accelerated the separation and transportation of charge carriers between MoS2and MgAl-LDH. These findings demonstrate the great potential of MoS2/MgAl-LDH as a photocatalyst in the degradation of organic dyes, which will aid in the green recycling utilization of magnesium resources from salt lake by-products.

Chronic wounds of significant severity and acute injuries are highly vulnerable to fungal infections, drastically impeding the expected wound healing trajectory. The clinical use of antifungal therapeutic drug is hampered by poor solubility, high toxicity and adverse reactions, thereby necessitating the urgent development of novel antifungal therapy strategy. Herein, this study proposes a new strategy to enhance the bioactivity of small-molecule antifungal drugs based on multifunctional metal nanozyme engineering, using amphotericin B (AmB) as an example. AmB-decorated gold nanoparticles (AmB@AuNPs) are synthesized by a facile one-pot reaction strategy, and the AmB@AuNPs exhibit superior peroxidase (POD)-like enzyme activity, with maximal reaction rates (V max ) 3.4 times higher than that of AuNPs for the catalytic reaction of H 2 O 2 . Importantly, the enzyme-like activity of AuNPs significantly enhanced the antifungal properties of AmB, and the minimum inhibitory concentrations of AmB@AuNPs against Candida albicans ( C. albicans ) and Saccharomyces cerevisiae ( S. cerevisiae ) W303 are reduced by 1.6-fold and 50-fold, respectively, as compared with AmB alone. Concurrent in vivo studies conducted on fungal-infected wounds in mice underscored the fundamentally superior antifungal ability and biosafety of AmB@AuNPs. The proposed strategy of engineering antifungal drugs with nanozymes has great potential for enhanced therapy of fungal infections and related diseases.

In order to prepare white fluorescent emitting materials, poly(ethylene glycol succinate- co -2,5-furandicarboxylic acid ethylene glycol ester) (PESF) blue fluorescent copolyester was prepared by melt polycondensation, and an orange fluorescent copolyester was prepared by introducing 1,6,7,12-tetrachloro-3,4,9,10-perylene tetracarboxylic acid dianhydride, as one of the fluorescent units, into the molecular chain of poly(butylene glycol isophthalate- co -butylene glycol terephthalate)(PBIT). 4,4-dicyclohexylmethane diisocyanate (HMDI) was used as a chain extender for linking PESF and PBIT to obtain the white fluorescent copolyester. The results showed that introducing 2,5-furandicarboxylic acid (FDCA) into the molecular chain of aliphatic polyesters can significantly enhance the blue fluorescence intensity of the PESF copolyesters, and white-light emission with CIE coordinates of (0.31, 0.35) and (0.30, 0.34) was achieved for the copolyester by varying the content of in the PESF and the copolymerization ratio of PESF and PBIT. In addition, by adjusting the magnitude of the excitation wavelength, it is possible to achieve the fine-tuning of the light color of the white copolyester in a certain region, e.g., the CIE coordinates at 350 nm excitation are (0.32, 0.35). The white copolyester displayed high thermal decomposition temperature about 350 o C, remarkably increased elongation at break above 300%, relatively high tensile strength up to 33.2 MPa; therefore, these performance advantages make enhance their potential for applications.

Achieving dynamic control over stereostructures and electronic properties of rigid molecules remains a significant challenge due to the delicate balance between stability and flexibility. Here, the construction of butterfly-shaped molecular junctions stabilized by moderate-strength boron-nitrogen (B←N) coordination between boraacenes and pyridines is reported. By leveraging the pivot-like flexibility of B←N bonds, molecular conductance switching with on/off ratios exceeding 100 is achieved through force-driven dynamic transitions between distinct stacking conformations. Single-molecule electrical measurements combined with first-principle calculations identify distinct charge transport mechanisms—through-space and through-bond—associated with the butterfly-wing open and closed configurations. Furthermore, external factors like electric fields and substituent effects modulate π – π interactions and charge transport properties. The introduction of destructive quantum interference effects can be achieved by replacing molecular units. The findings demonstrate that B←N coordination serves as a dynamically tunable linkage, offering a pathway to design molecular platforms with multifunctional units, customized stereo-conformations, and quantum effects.

The operational stability of mixed-halide blue perovskite light-emitting diodes (PeLEDs) is fundamentally constrained by intrinsic halide ion migration. Employing single-halide perovskite systems represents a viable route to circumvent this issue, yet solution-processed pure-bromide perovskites typically exhibit undesirable green emission, impeding attainment of high-color-purity blue electroluminescence. Herein, this challenge is addressed through the strategic incorporation of Mg 2+ into the B-site of the pure bromine-based perovskite lattice. This substitution induces a substantial spectral blueshift and promotes phase homogenization by facilitating efficient energy transfer from small-n to large-n phases. Notably, the first systematic investigation and mechanistic elucidation of the origin of bimodal emission in blue PeLEDs is presented. Consequently, the champion PeLED delivers stable deep-blue emission at 464 nm with a maximum external quantum efficiency of 4.76%. This study presents a definitive paradigm for achieving spectrally stable and efficient deep-blue emission from single-halide perovskites. The elucidated mechanism underlying emission bimodality provides critical guidance for future development of blue PeLEDs.

Waterproof and self-healing materials are crucial for preventing leakage in implantable devices subjected to cyclic mechanical stress. Herein, we investigate how block composition governs the underwater self-healing behavior of biodegradable elastomers composed of poly(L-lactic acid) (PLLA) and poly(trimethylene carbonate) (PTMC). By tuning the PLLA/PTMC ratio, we modulated crystallinity and segmental mobility, with soft PTMC domains disrupting PLLA ordering and enhancing chain dynamics. Molecular dynamics simulations and thermal analysis revealed increased diffusivity and looser chain packing in PTMC-rich regions. In parallel, electrostatic potential mapping and surface energy analysis indicated reduced interfacial polarity, favoring hydrophobic polymer–polymer interactions under wet conditions. This work demonstrates a design strategy that integrates segmental dynamics and interfacial modulation to achieve water-tolerant self-healing in biodegradable polyesters, offering promise for biomedical sealing and tissue repair.

The contamination caused by organic dyes has become a critical global environmental issue. Developing effective and sustainable methodologies for the degradation of these pollutants is of utmost importance. In this study, we successfully fabricated the AgNbO 3 /Ag 3 PO 4 heterostructure through a combination of hydrothermal synthesis and in situ precipitation techniques. We systematically assessed the photocatalytic degradation efficacy of pristine AgNbO 3 , pristine Ag 3 PO 4 , and the AgNbO 3 /Ag 3 PO 4 heterostructure on Rhodamine B (RhB) under visible light irradiation. The results indicated that within 60 min, the AgNbO 3 /Ag 3 PO 4 heterostructure achieved a degradation efficiency of 94.77 %, markedly surpassing the 13.10 % and 72.06 % efficiencies observed for pristine AgNbO 3 and Ag 3 PO 4 , respectively. The removal efficiency of TOC reached 50.76 %. This enhanced photocatalytic performance is attributed to the reduced recombination rate of photogenerated electron-hole pairs, facilitated by the heterostructure formation. Notably, the AgNbO 3 /Ag 3 PO 4 heterostructure demonstrated exceptional stability, retaining significant photocatalytic activity even after four successive cycles. Moreover, the plausible degradation pathways of RhB were explained in detail using LC-MS. This study highlights a green synthesis approach that is straightforward, eco-friendly, and cost-effective for preparing AgNbO 3 /Ag 3 PO 4 with superior photocatalytic activity and stability for dye degradation under visible light irradiation.

Adjusting the morphology and composition of Pd-based materials is a promising strategy to improve their performance for the electrocatalytic formic acid oxidation reaction (FAOR). In this work, we report the preparation of B-doped PdRu nanopillar assemblies (B-PdRu NPAs) by a two-step method using NaBH4 as the boron dopant. On combining the hyper-branched structure and the multi-component synergistic effect, B-PdRu NPAs achieve a high mass activity of 1.09 mA μg−1Pd for the FAOR and retain 73.19% of the initial activity after 500 cycles, which is superior to undoped counterparts. The proposed synthesis strategy provides a simple method for the synthesis of metal–nonmetal nanomaterials with desired composition and design structure for electrocatalytic fields.

Bi 5 O 7 I was considered as a promising photocatalyst due to its unique structure. However, the recombination rate of electron–hole pairs generated by Bi 5 O 7 I is too fast, making it impossible for practical applications. In this study, Bi 5 O 7 I catalysts deposited with various amount of silver were manufactured and their photocatalytic efficiency for rhodamine B (RhB) was measured. It was found that Bi 5 O 7 I with a silver deposition of 15% (named as Bi 5 O 7 I/Ag-15) exhibits the highest catalytic performance, with a degradation rate of 97.34% for RhB after illumination for 90 min. The cyclic test results confirmed that Bi 5 O 7 I/Ag-15 still maintained high photocatalytic activity after six cycles of degradation. In addition, Bi 5 O 7 I/Ag-15 also exhibits an excellent photocatalytic performance in acidic or alkaline environments, indicating its potential for practical applications. A reasonable degradation mechanism for RhB photocatalysis was then proposed. Graphical abstract

The oxidation of boron (B) is of great significance in catalysis, metallurgy, corrosion, and combustion. However, understanding the early stages of oxidation and identifying intermediate phases remain a long-standing challenge. Here we reveal an oxidation mechanism termed the W–J model; unlike classical models that rely on the diffusion of oxygen or boron through a B 2 O 3 layer, the initial reaction in the W–J model takes place at the interface between the boron core and the B 2 O 3 shell. This interfacial reaction produces an oxidized intermediate, B 6 O, which is then further oxidized to form B 2 O 3 . The formation of B 6 O plays a crucial role in regulating the oxidation process. Its high thermal stability and strong oxygen affinity act as barriers to continuous oxidation, thereby lowering the ignition and combustion efficiency of boron. These findings highlight a fundamentally different reaction pathway that may help explain the limited reactivity observed in practical applications.
