In this study, an electrochemical immunosensor was constructed to detect the cytokeratin 19 fragment antigen 21-1 (CYFRA 21-1) in human serum. CYFRA 21-1 is the most sensitive tumor marker of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), its content in normal human serum should be less than 3.3 ng/mL. When lung cancer cells dissolve or die, a myriad of CYFRA 21-1 is released into a tumor patient’s blood circulation , and its serum content elevates strikingly. Consequently, detecting CYFRA 21-1 by an electrochemical biosensor is expected to provide a new method for the early detection and prevention of lung cancer. In this study, a composite of UiO-66-NH 2 and carboxylated multi-walled carbon nanotubes (CMWCNTs) was used as the substrate material of a sensor; the resulting sensor had a large specific surface area and strong electrical conductivity . Moreover, gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) were used to bind to antibodies through an Au-S bonds. Also, a supersensitive detection of CYFRA 21-1 was achieved through the specific bindings of antigens and antibodies. Under optimal detection conditions, the change of current signal intensity of the immunosensor was proportional to the logarithm of CYFRA 21-1 concentration and had a linear relation in the range of 0.005–400 ng/mL, while the detection limit was 1.15 pg/mL (S/N = 3). The proposed immunosensor had high precision, stability, and selectivity . More importantly, the sensor was been successfully applied to detect CYFRA 21-1 in human serum with high recovery, providing a new method for early screening and dynamic monitoring of lung cancer.

A loose nanofiltration (NF) membrane for dye desalination was prepared by ionic crosslinking assisted layer-by-layer self-assembly method. The natural chitosan (CS) and sodium alginate (NaAlg) were used as the cationic and anionic polyelectrolytes, respectively. CaCl 2 was used as the ionic crosslinker based on the chelating ability of NaAlg and CS to Ca 2+ ions. The structures, morphologies and surface charge properties of the assembly layers were characterized. In addition, the effects of self-assembly conditions and operation conditions on the filtration performances of composite membranes were evaluated systematically. The results indicate that the dye rejection of assembled membrane increases due to the crosslinking of Ca 2+ ions. The resultant HPAN-(CS/NaAlg) 3 membrane shows high rejections to dyes (98.8% for Congo red, 98.9% for Coomassie brilliant blue G-250, 98.5% for Direct black 38) and low rejections to inorganic salts. Moreover, HPAN-(CS/NaAlg) 3 membrane exhibits high permeate flux (54.8 L·m −2 ·h −1 ·bar −1 ), good stability in continuous filtration and antifouling property.

The use of low-cost working electrodes is of great importance for the development of sensor industrialization. Acupuncture needles electrode (ANE) was selected as working microelectrode, a sensor was designed based on poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene)-polystyrene sulfonate (PEDOT: PSS) and chitosan (CS) modified covalent organic frameworks (COFs) (CS/COFs) for detection of cadmium (Cd(II)). First, a mixture of PEDOT and PSS was electrodeposited on the surface of the acupuncture needles to synthesize a PEDOT: PSS as conductive polymeric film to support the electron transfer capability and enhance the conductive efficiency of the sensor. Then, CS/COFs was self-assembled and attached to the PEDOT: PSS/ANE surface by π-π stacking intermolecular interaction forces and the viscosity of CS, thus increasing the specific surface area of the electrode. Differential pulse anodic stripping voltammetry (DPASV) was used as the electrochemical method for detection of Cd(II). And the results indicated that the CS/COFs/PEDOT: PSS/ANE was linearly responsive in the range of 400 μg/L to 2400 μg/L, and the LOD was 13.8 ng/L for Cd(II). The constructed sensor also showed great selectivity, reproducibility, and stability. Additionally, the sensor demonstrated outstanding recovery in the detection of Cd(II) in real sample scallops. This sensing construction method based on acupuncture needles as working electrodes is of great significance to the development of sensor industrialization and aquatic product safety detection.

Synthesis of methyl methacrylate (MMA) by aldol condensation of methyl propionate (MP) with formaldehyde (FA) has received researchers’ attention in recent years. Herein, a kind of acid-base bi-functional Cs/Ti-SiO 2 was developed for the conversion of MP and FA to MMA. A series of Cs/Ti-SiO 2 samples with different acid-base properties were prepared by changing the loading amount of Cs and Ti elements and characterized using XRD, BET, FT-IR, DR UV–vis, SEM, TEM, XPS, CO 2 /NH 3 -TPD, O 2 -TPO, py-IR, and TGA. The introduction of Ti species could significantly regulate the acidity and affect the surface structure of catalyst, facilitating the activation of reactants and aldol reaction effectively. The relationship between the acid-base properties and catalytic activity was correlated, which revealed the crucial role of weak and medium acid sites in this transformative process. The production of MMA was optimized by using response surface methodology (RSM) based on the Box-Behnken design (BBD) approach. As a result, 62.8 % yield of MMA with selectivity of 75.6 % could be achieved at optimal reaction conditions. The catalyst would suffer deactivation from carbon deposition, which could be easily regenerated by simple thermal treatment without any decrease in initial activity during 600 h time-on-stream. Kinetic studies unraveled the activation energy of aldol condensation was 112.2 kJ/mol.

The wastewater generated by nuclear power plants contains a large number of radioactive substances, including 134 Cs and 137 Cs, which pose significant threats to human health and the environment. It is crucial to remove these radioactive substances from the nuclear waste . A significant challenge we encounter is the effective and selective extraction of cesium ions from wastewater. The wastewater is typically rich in competition ions and spans a wide pH range. In this report, we report a novel manganese silicate/MoS 2 composite material with high adsorption capacity for selectively removing Cs + from aqueous solutions with competition ions. Adsorption behaviors of cesium ions were investigated for composite ratio, adsorbent dosage, contact time, pH and competitive cations. Optimal conditions for the adsorption of cesium ions from aqueous solutions were achieved using a composite ratio of manganese silicate to MoS 2 at 9:1, an adsorbent concentration of 1.0 g L −1 , and a pH of 8 for a duration of 1 h. While the impact of K + and Na + is minimal at lower concentrations, it becomes more pronounced with increasing concentrations. The composite material demonstrates effective performance over the pH range of 2.0–12.0. Experimental data fitted with the pseudo-second-order kinetics and the Langmuir isotherm model suggests a single-layer chemical adsorption process , resulting in a remarkable adsorption capacity of 78.99 mg g −1 . Microscopic analysis reveals the synergistic effect of manganese silicate and MoS 2 . The manganese silicate provides efficient active sites for selective Cs + adsorption, while MoS 2 allows the highly dispersed surface for manganese silicate. This work reveals new insights into the design and synthesis of high-performance Cs + adsorption materials for application in the treatment of nuclear wastewater.

Inorganic perovskite quantum dots (QDs) have attracted extensive attention from researchers in recent years, because of their good prospects in micro-LED for next generation lighting and display. However, the research on high quality and stable inorganic perovskite blue QDs is relatively backward, which limits its further applications in micro-LED. In the present work, crystalline silicotitanate (CST) is used as matrix and synthesized by hydrothermal method , then, Cs + ion replaces Na + ion in the tunnel in c-axis dimension of CST matrix by ion exchange, and finally, the CsPbBr 3 QDs are in situ anchored on the Cs + ion in the tunnel. The sizes of the as prepared CsPbBr 3 QDs are determined to be mostly less than 4 nm, which guarantees the as prepared CST: CsPbBr 3 QDs to have a brilliant blue emission peak at 463 nm with a narrow FWHM of less than 20 nm, and it can be excited by a broad n-UV light range from 300 to 400 nm and peak at 365 nm. A photoluminescent quantum yield of 88.34% is achieved. Furthermore, the as prepared CST: CsPbBr 3 QDs is demonstrated to have a good air and thermal stability with an average PL lifetime of 112.00 ns? The color gamut of CST: CsPbBr 3 QDS together with the commercial green (Sr, Ba) 2 SiO 4 : Eu 2+ and red (Sr, Ca)AlSiN 3 : Eu 2+ phosphors is calculated to be 114.12% of the NTSC standard. Therefore, the present pure blue CST: CsPbBr 3 QDs can be a potential backlight source for display devices.

High-performance electrode modification materials play a crucial role in improving the sensitivity of sensor detection in electrochemical determination of heavy metals. In this study, a rGO/MoS2/CS nanocomposite modified glassy carbon electrode (GCE) was used to construct a sensitive sensor for detecting lead ions in tobacco leaves. The reduced graphene oxide (rGO) was used to increase the conductivity of the sensor, and the nano-flowered MoS2 could provide a large reaction specific surface area and a certain active site for heavy metal reaction. Chitosan (CS) was used to improve the enrichment ability of heavy metals and increase the electrocatalytic activity of electrode. Thus, an electrochemical sensor with excellent performance in reproducibility, stability and anti-interference ability was established. The stripping behavior of Pb(II) and the application conditions of the sensor were studied by square wave anodic stripping voltammetry (SWASV). The investigation indicated that the sensor exhibited high detection sensitivity in the range of 0.005–0.05–2.0 μM, and the limit of detection (LOD) was 0.0016 μM. This work can provide a fast and effective method for determination of Pb(II) in samples with low content, such as tobacco leaves.

The performance of Fe 3 O 4 /attapulgite (APT) nanoparticles in Pb(II) adsorption from aqueous solutions could be improved by modifying the particles with aminopropyltriethoxysilane (APTS) and then combining with chitosan (CS) into beads. After preparing the APTS-Fe 3 O 4 /APT@CS beads, their surface morphology and crystal phases were analyzed by Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, and X-ray diffraction. The magnetic properties of APTS-Fe 3 O 4 /APT@CS were studied by a vibrating sample magnetometer, while their heat resistance and stability were characterized by thermal weight analysis. A recycling test and comparison of adsorption capacities were also carried out. The adsorption capacity of Fe 3 O 4 /APT was improved by the modification with APTS and CS. The adsorption process conforms to the pseudo-second-order kinetic and Langmuir adsorption isotherm models. The adsorption of Pb(II) reaches a maximum of 625.34 mg/g, which compares favorably with other reported adsorbents. The results show that APTS-Fe 3 O 4 /APT@CS is a promising hybrid adsorbent for effective removal of Pb(II) from water.

In this work, two novel Cs(I) ion-imprinted polymers (Cs(I)-IIP1 and Cs(I)-IIP2) have been prepared by surface imprinting technique based on support matrix of SBA-15. The strategy was carried out by introducing two different reversible addition–fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) polymerization including using the free RAFT agent in solution and surface-anchored RAFT agent with appropriate initiation method, which is expected to generate a well-defined surface ion-imprinted polymer with excellent adsorption capacity. The materials were verified by FT-IR, SEM, TEM, nitrogen adsorption–desorption and TGA. Owing to the intrinsic advantages of surface-anchored RAFT polymerization, the resultant surface ion-imprinted polymer (Cs(I)-IIP2) exhibited more homogeneous and thinner polymer layer (15 nm) with excellent macrostructure in comparison to Cs(I)-IIP1 (75 nm) prepared by using the free RAFT agent in solution. Furthermore, the adsorption capacity of both polymers are compared, indicating that Cs(I)-IIP2 displays higher adsorption property and excellent selectivity for Cs(I).

A novel microsphere adsorbent based upon carboxymethyl cellulose sodium/prussian blue composite loaded with Lanthanum(III) (CMC/PB-La) was successfully synthesized via electrostatic ejection device for removal of cesium from contaminated water, and characterized by FT-IR, SEM, EDX and XPS. Influencing factors to adsorption cesium were investigated, including solution pH, adsorbent dosage, contact time, initial concentration, temperature and competing ions. Linear Freundlich isotherm was fitted satisfactorily to the adsorption data, and the adsorption kinetic data was fitted well with pseudo-second-order model. Moreover, the results of γ-irradiation experiments indicate that CMC/PB-La has good radiation stability.

Methyl methacrylate (MMA) synthesis via aldol condensation of methyl propionate with formaldehyde over Cs-based supported catalysts is intensively investigated, while the effect of their pore structures on catalytic performance still lacks in-depth understanding. Herein, series of Cs-Zr/SiO 2 catalysts with different pore structures were prepared for this aldol condensation. The physicochemical characteristics of as-prepared Cs-Zr/SiO 2 catalysts were characterized using physical N 2 adsorption–desorption isotherms and CO 2 -/NH 3 -TPD. In addition, the impact of pore structure on mass transfer, adsorption, and desorption of reactants and products was studied through in situ DRIFTS. The results show that the acid and base site densities elevated with the increasing pore volume. The mass transfer of reactants and products could be promoted with increasing pore size, while their adsorption energies exhibited a volcanic trend. As a result, the Cs-Zr/SiO 2 catalysts having average pore diameter of 12-18 nm and acid-base balance was considered as the optimal candidate for MMA production.

Mosquitoes are notorious for transmitting arbovirus diseases. Existing genetic-based control strategies only target one of mosquitoes’ flying, blood-sucking and reproduction behaviors and are technically demanding, limiting their real-world application. Therefore, there is an imperative need to identify novel molecular targets for developing multi-effect, easy-to-deploy mosquito control strategies. We herein identified and characterized the function of mosquito iron-sulfur-cluster assembly protein AalbNFS1. Silencing AalbNFS1 with double-strand RNAs (dsNFS1) caused evident metabolic and enzyme activity abnormalities in mosquito tissues and cells. Further analyses revealed that AalbNFS1 deficiency simultaneously reduced mosquitoes’ flying, blood-sucking and reproductive abilities by inducing muscle cell ferroptosis, confirming AalbNFS1 as a multi-effect molecular target for mosquito control purposes. To facilitate the real-world deployment of dsNFS1, a chitosan-tripolyphosphate-dsNFS1 (CS-TPP-dsNFS1) nanosystem was synthesized, generating satisfactory mosquito control effects. Collectively, our study pioneers the research on iron-sulfur-cluster biosynthesis mechanisms in mosquitoes and develops an effective mosquito control nanosystem with promising real-world applicability.
