Electrical bioadhesive interface (EBI), especially conducting polymer hydrogel (CPH)-based EBI, exhibits promising potential applications in various fields, including biomedical devices, neural interfaces, and wearable devices. However, current fabrication techniques of CPH-based EBI mostly focus on conventional methods such as direct casting, injection, and molding, which remains a lingering challenge for further pushing them toward customized practical bioelectronic applications and commercialization. Herein, 3D printable high-performance CPH-based EBI precursor inks are developed through composite engineering of PEDOT:PSS and adhesive ionic macromolecular dopants within tough hydrogel matrices (PVA). Such inks allow the facile fabrication of high-resolution and programmable patterned EBI through 3D printing. Upon successive freeze-thawing, the as-printed PEDOT:PSS-based EBI simultaneously exhibits high conductivity of 1.2 S m −1 , low interfacial impedance of 20 Ω, high stretchability of 349%, superior toughness of 109 kJ m −3 , and satisfactory adhesion to various materials. Enabled by these advantageous properties and excellent printability, the facile and continuous manufacturing of EBI-based skin electrodes is further demonstrated via 3D printing, and the fabricated electrodes display excellent ECG and EMG signal recording capability superior to commercial products. This work may provide a new avenue for rational design and fabrication of next-generation EBI for soft bioelectronics, further advancing seamless human-machine integration.

Benefiting from features such as high-voltage platforms, superior energy density, and cost-effectiveness, Zinc-bromine flow batteries (ZBFBs) demonstrate significant potential for large-scale energy storage applications. However, their practical implementation faces critical challenges: sluggish Br 2 /Br − redox reactions and severe shuttle effects, which lead to diminished energy efficiency and self-discharge. Here, we develop an innovative electrochemical self-induced catalyst gel encapsulation strategy. Under electrochemical driving, the poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene): poly(styrenesulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS, abbreviated as PES) catalyst spontaneously undergoes gelation and coating on carbon fibers, thereby forming a PES@C composite cathode with enhanced bromine conversion reversibility. This innovative strategy effectively addresses three critical challenges in existing ZBFBs: shuttle effect, low bromine utilization, and poor energy efficiency. PES@C with sulfur sites and C–O-C group enable efficient bromine/poly-bromide anchoring through strong polar interactions, effectively suppressing shuttling effects. Furthermore, the abundant active sites exhibit exceptional catalytic activity towards Br 2 /Br − redox reactions. This synergistic adsorption-catalysis mechanism significantly enhances the electrochemical performance of ZBFBs. The ZBFBs with PES@C achieve stable operation under ultrahigh current density (200 mA cm −2 ) and high areal capacity (40 mA h cm −2 ), delivering outstanding voltage efficiency (84.91%) and energy efficiency (81.78%). Notably, the proposed strategy demonstrates universal applicability for performance enhancement in various bromine-based battery systems, providing an efficient pathway to improve energy efficiency and cycling durability in bromine-based flow batteries.

We report efficient, planar heterojunction perovskite solar cells prepared via bar coating that are compatible with large-scale fabrication on flexible substrates . Our MAPbI 3 perovskite devices by bar coating method achieved a maximum power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 13.0% using a ITO/PEDOT: PSS/CH 3 NH 3 PbI 3 (MAPbI 3) /PCBM/Ag structure, and there is very weak hysteresis in these devices. After formulation of the precursor solution and optimization of the coating process , planar perovskite thin films containing large-size grains with low surface roughness were obtained. We found that anti-solvent plays an important role in determining the uniformity, size of grains and width of grain boundaries in perovskite films. The addition of 5 vol% isopropanol into the precursor solution leads to the formation of large aspect ratio grains with a length ca. 200 µm and width of a few hundred nanometers , together with narrow grain boundaries. However, the absence or excessive of isopropanol result in perovskite films with high surface roughness and broad grain boundaries due to inefficient crystal growth or the formation of ridges between crystal grains. These grain boundaries have high PL intensity due to charge recombination and consequently deteriorate device efficiency. When bar-coating the perovskite films in air, best devices with PCE over 11% can be achieved with a relatively high humidity around 50%, eliminating the low humidity requirement during air processing.

To address the limitations of traditional blood glucose monitoring in industrial environments, this study presents a charge transfer-enhanced glucose sensor based on organic electrochemical transistor, utilizing a carboxymethyl cellulose-modified PEDOT:PSS with aminated multi-walled carbon nanotubes/gold nanoparticles composite film. The sensor is integrated with superabsorbent polymer composites for non-invasive breath analysis. Molecular electrostatic potential calculations reveal that hydrogen-bond networks between carboxymethyl cellulose carboxyl groups and glucose hydroxyl moieties, together with π-π interactions of glucose molecules at the composite surface, enhance interfacial charge transfer efficiency by 2.5 % (0.236e→0.242e). Structural characterization confirms a honeycomb-like porous architecture (0.5–2 μm pore size) formed via carboxymethyl cellulose-mediated hydrogen bonding, accelerating glucose diffusion while suppressing interferent adsorption (response<1 %). The composite's three-dimensional conductive network combines PEDOT:PSS (p-type pathways), carbon nanotubes (surface area expansion) and gold nanoparticles (catalytic sites), achieving a linear detection range of 2–22 μmol·L⁻¹ (extendable up to 9 mM) in exhaled breath condensate with 56.656 μA·(mmol·L⁻¹·cm²)⁻¹ sensitivity, 0.2 μmol·L⁻¹ detection limit (S/N = 23.8), and < 4.8 s response time. The sensor-integrated facemask platform uses superabsorbent polymer to maintain 100 % relative humidity, stabilizing the electrolyte layer for real-time monitoring. Machine learning (random forest classifier processing 18 time-frequency features from transistor outputs) achieves 87.5 % accuracy in resolving glucose fluctuations. This work demonstrates the integration of hierarchical materials, interfacial charge control, and algorithmic processing for wearable biosensors in health monitoring.
