In this study, a Ti3C2MXene@g-C3N4composite powder (TM-CN) was prepared by the ultrasonic self-assembly method and then loaded onto a carbon nanofiber membrane by the self-assembly properties of MXene for the treatment of organic pollutants in wastewater. The characterization of the TM-CN and the C-TM-CN was conducted via X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and Fourier transform infrared spectrometer (FTIR) to ascertain the successful modification. The organic dye degradation experiments demonstrated that introducing an appropriate amount of Ti3C2MXene resulted in the complete degradation of RhB within 60 min, three times the photocatalytic efficiency of a pure g-C3N4. The C-TM-CN exhibited the stable and outstanding photocatalytic degradation of the RhB solution over a wide range of pH values, indicating the characteristics of the photodegradation of organic pollutants in a wide range of aqueous environments. Furthermore, the results of the cyclic degradation experiments demonstrated that the C-TM-CN composite film maintained a degradation efficiency of over 85% after five cycles, thereby confirming a notable improvement in its cyclic stability. Consequently, the C-TM-CN composite film exhibits excellent photocatalytic performance and is readily recyclable, making it an auspicious eco-friendly material in water environment remediation.

A heterojunction of bismuth oxybromide (BiOBr) and graphitic carbon nitride (g-C 3 N 4 ) was synthesized via an in situ deposition method for the selective photocatalytic oxidation of benzyl alcohol to benzaldehyde without the need for additional oxidants. The optimized BiOBr/g-C 3 N 4 (2:1) sample demonstrated a significant enhancement in benzaldehyde production (36.08 %) compared to pure g-C 3 N 4 (15.48 %), with improved selectivity (64.06 % compared to 29.66 % for g-C 3 N 4 ) under mild conditions (atmospheric pressure, 20°C). Structural and photoelectric property analyses, along with DFT calculations, revealed the synergistic interactions between the two components, elucidating the charge transfer mechanism and the role of the S-scheme heterojunction in enhancing photocatalytic performance. Free-radical-capture experiments identified electrons (e-) and holes (h+) generated within the BiOBr/g-C 3 N 4 system as the primary reactive species responsible for the oxidation of benzyl alcohol. This study demonstrates the potential of the BiOBr/g-C 3 N 4 composite as an advanced photocatalyst for chemical transformations, showcasing its effectiveness without the need for additional oxidants.

Perovskite materials have shown great application prospects in the field of photocatalysis due to their excellent photoelectric properties . However, the toxicity of lead and material instability limit its application. In this work, the heterojunction based on C 3 N 4 thin layer encapsulated lead-free Cs 3 Bi 2 Br 9 nanocrystals was constructed by electrostatic self-assembly method. This combination way does not disrupt the electronic, crystalline and structural properties of C 3 N 4 and Cs 3 Bi 2 Br 9 . Fluorescence quenching in C 3 N 4 /Cs 3 Bi 2 Br 9 composite is ascribed to the charge transfer process, which could be directly observed by spatially and temporally resolved fluorescence mapping image. The synergistic effect between C 3 N 4 and Cs 3 Bi 2 Br 9 can significantly improve the photocatalytic degradation efficiency of RhB , 98 % at 1 h. The stability of the composite was enhanced due to the special encapsulation effect. This work will provide a guideline for the construction of two-dimensional materials and perovskite heterojunction systems in the field of photocatalysis .

NiS cocatalyst modified LaFeO3/g-C3N4 heterostructures were successfully prepared and their photocatalytic hydrogen evolution performance under visible light irradiation was presented. LaFeO3/g-C3N4/NiS composites were characterized by transmission electron microscopy (TEM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), nitrogen adsorption desorption isotherms, UV-vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS), transient photocurrent responses and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). The results indicated that the LaFeO3/g-C3N4/NiS heterostructures had enhanced photocatalytic hydrogen evolution performance than pure g-C3N4, LaFeO3 and LaFeO3/g-C3N4. 5%-LaFeO3/g-C3N4/2%NiS exhibited the highest photocatalytic hydrogen evolution rate of 121 μmol g−1 h−1 under visible light, which was almost 60 times higher than the hydrogen evolution rate of 5%-LaFeO3/g-C3N4. The effective separation of photogenerated electron–hole pairs in the LaFeO3/g-C3N4 Z-scheme system with NiS as a cocatalyst enhanced the photocatalytic hydrogen evolution performance. This study provided a facile approach to prepare NiS modified LaFeO3/g-C3N4 heterostructures and to construct an effective photocatalytic system for hydrogen evolution under visible light irradiation.

Graphitic carbon nitride (g-C 3 N 4 ) was synthesized by directly thermal condensation of dicyandiamide and characterized by XRD, XPS, SEM, TEM and FT-IR. Then the as-prepared catalyst was employed to degrade priority pollutant 2,4,6-trichlorophenol (2,4,6-TCP) under visible light irradiation ( λ > 420 nm). The 2,4,6-TCP could be completely mineralized over g-C 3 N 4 , and the pseudo-first-order rate constant for 10 −4 M 2,4,6-TCP degradation was 0.70 h −1 in the presence of 1 g/L catalyst. O 2 - / OOH was identified as the most important reactive species contributing to 2,4,6-TCP degradation in air. Meanwhile, valence band holes (VB holes) of g-C 3 N 4 was observed to play important roles for the degradation of 2,4,6-TCP at N 2 gas ambient when metal ions were added as electron acceptors. The possible degradation pathway of 2,4,6-TCP was proposed.

Recently, photocatalytic production of H 2 O 2 by semiconductors emerges as a green and potential method for green and sustainable H 2 O 2 synthesis. In this work, a g-C 3 N 4 /CAU-17 composite with heterojunction structure was fabricated. There is a tight interface contact between g-C 3 N 4 and CAU-17. And the g-C 3 N 4 nanosheets was uniformly wrapped on CAU-17 surface. In the hybrid catalyst, CAU-17 provides a high surface area for g-C 3 N 4 dispersion and the integration of g-C 3 N 4 boosts the visible light response. Results showed that the H 2 O 2 yield is 419.0 μmol . L −1. h −1 over g-C 3 N 4 /CAU-17 sample, which is 1.59 and 7.83 fold enhancements to bare g-C 3 N 4 and CAU-17 counterparts. This work sheds light on the design of CAU-17-based composite photocatalysts and provides insights into H 2 O 2 synthesis.

Photocatalytic reduction of carbon dioxide is a technology that effectively utilizes CO2 and solar energy. Sodium niobate (NaNbO3) has received much attention in the field of photocatalysis due to its excellent photocatalytic properties. However, the application of NaNbO3 in the field of photocatalysis is still limited by poor reaction to visible light and easy recombination of photo-generated carriers. Heterojunction with g-C3N4 to construct core–shell structure can effectively improve the above problems. Combining the two can design a core–shell composite material that is beneficial for photocatalytic reduction of CO2. Herein, we prepared a core–shell heterojunction g-C3N4/NaNbO3 by uniformly impregnating urea on the surface of NaNbO3 chromium nanofibers with NaNbO3 nanofibers prepared by electrospinning as a catalyst carrier, and urea as a precursor of g-C3N4. The core–shell structure of g-C3N4/NaNbO3 was verified by a series of characterization methods such as XPS, XRD, and TEM. It was found that under the same conditions, the methanol yield of core–shell g-C3N4/NaNbO3 was 12.86 μmol·g−1·h−1, which is twice that of pure NaNbO3 (6.67 μmol·g−1·h−1). This article highlights an impregnation method to build core–shell structures for improved photocatalytic reduction of CO2.

The photocatalytic H 2 production activity of polymer carbon nitride (g-C 3 N 4 ) is limited by the rapid recombination of photoelectron-hole pairs and slow surface reduction dynamic process. Here, a supramolecular complex (named R-TAP-Pd(II)) was fabricated via self-assembly of (R)-N-(1-phenylethyl)-4-(4-(pyridin-2-yl)-1H-1,2,3-triazol-1-yl)benzamide (R-TAP) with Pd(II) and used to modify g-C 3 N 4 . In the R-TAP-Pd(II)@g-C 3 N 4 composite photocatalyst, the spin polarization of R-TAP-Pd(II) can promote charge transfer and inhibit photogenerated carrier recombination, as confirmed by spectral tests and photoelectrochemical performance tests. Electrochemical tests and in situ X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) tests proved that the Pd(II) ion in the R-TAP-Pd(II) molecule can serve as active sites to accelerate H 2 production. The R-TAP-Pd(II)@g-C 3 N 4 presented a photocatalytic H 2 generation rate of 1085 μmol g −1 h −1 when exposed to visible light, which was a about 278-fold increase compared with g-C 3 N 4 . This work finds a new approach to boost the photocatalytic efficiency of g-C 3 N 4 via supramolecular self-assembly.

Selective CO2hydrogenation faces significant technical challenges, although many efforts have been made in this regard. Herein, a Ni-doped In2O3catalyst supported by g-C3N4was prepared using the co-precipitation method, and its composition, morphology, specific surface area, and band gap were characterized using TEM, XPS, BET, XRD, CO2-TPD, H2-TPR, UV-Vis, etc. The catalytic hydrogenation reduction of CO2to produce methanol was tested. Under low-photothermal conditions (1.0 MPa), the hydrogenation of carbon dioxide to methanol is stable, effective, and highly selective, with a spatiotemporal yield of 86.0 gMeOHh−1kgcat−1, which is 30.9% higher than that of Ni-In2O3without g-C3N4loading under the same conditions.

The rapid recombination of photoinduced charge carriers in semiconductors remains a significant challenge for their practical application in photocatalysis. This study presents the design of a step-scheme (S-scheme) heterojunction composed of carbon nitride (g-C3N4) and nickel-based metal–organic framework (Ni-MOF) to achieve enhanced charge separation. The establishment of an S-scheme charge transfer configuration at the interface of the Ni-MOF/g-C3N4heterostructure plays a pivotal role in enabling efficient charge carrier separation, and hence, high CO2photoreduction efficiency with a CO evolution rate of 1014.6 µmol g−1h−1and selectivity of 95% under simulated solar illumination. CO evolution represents an approximately 3.7-fold enhancement compared to pristine Ni-MOF. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations, supported by in situ irradiated X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) experimental results, confirmed the establishment of a well-defined and strongly bonded interface, which improves the charge transfer and separation following the S-scheme mechanism. This study sheds light on MOF-based S-scheme heterojunctions as fruitful and selective alternatives for practical CO2photoreduction.

Enzyme-mimicking nanomaterials have gained significant attention for use in colorimetric immunoassays. However, further enhancing their mimetic enzyme activity remains crucial for improving assay sensitivity. In this study, CeO 2 /g-C 3 N 4 nanozymes were synthesized with enhanced catalytic activity when exposed to visible light. The irradiation facilitates electron transfer within the CeO 2 /g-C 3 N 4 nanomaterials, leading to the generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS). These ROS then promote the oxidation of 3,3',5,5'-tetramethylbenzidine (TMB), causing a distinct color change. Based on this, a novel colorimetric immunoassay platform was developed, using the CeO 2 /g-C 3 N 4 nanomaterials as labels. Under visible light, the color development signal was significant amplified, resulting in improved sensitivity. This approach showed a linear response for the detection of carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) in the range 0.5–30 ng/mL, with a limit of detection (LOD) of 0.13 ng/mL. The assay also demonstrated high specificity and excellent reproducibility. Consequently, this method offers a promising strategy for early cancer diagnosis and holds considerable potential for wider clinical applications. Graphical

Designing friction materials with high electron storage capacity, high work function, low cost, and high stability is an important method to improve the output performance of a triboelectric nanogenerator (TENG). Here, we report two kinds of friction materials based on Keggin-type polyoxometalates (POMs)-modified graphite carbon nitride (g-C3N4), namely, g-C3N4@PMo12 and g-C3N4@PW12, and form TENG with commercial indium tin oxide/poly(ethylene terephthalate) (ITO/PET) electrodes. The performance test shows that the g-C3N4@PMo12 TENG device exhibits a high output voltage of about 78 V, a current of about 657 nA, and a transfer charge of about 15 nC, which is more than 3 times higher than that of unmodified TENG. This performance improvement is attributed to the fact that POM loaded on the surface of g-C3N4 can be used as a shallow electron trap to increase the electron storage capacity through electron interaction and to increase the charge density on the surface of the material by increasing the work function of the composite. This work not only broadens the choices of TENG friction materials but also offers a practical means of enhancing TENG’s output performance.
