Facile electron injection and extraction are two important attributes desired in electron transportation layer (ETL) to improve the power conversion efficiency (PCE) of planar CsPbBr 3 perovskite solar cell (PSC). Here, it is demonstrated that Li-doping of amorphous compact Nb 2 O 5 (Li: Nb 2 O 5 ) can effectively increase the electronic conductivity and facilitate the charge extraction with low recombination. Comparing with the PSC with Nb 2 O 5 ETL, the PCE of the Li: Nb 2 O 5 -based PSC is enhanced from 5.79% to 7.06%. Furthermore, the Li: Nb 2 O 5 -based CsPbBr 3 PSC exhibits a fabulous stability when exposed in air with moisture of ∼40% for 60 days. This work shows that ion doping provides new opportunities for preparing effective ETLs and high-performance inorganic PSCs .

The instability and insolubility of perovskite quantum dots in aqueous solution prohibit applications in polar solvents. As a highly toxic gas pollutant and also an endogenous gaseous signaling molecule existing in a variety of physiological processes, hydrogen sulfide (H2S), with high selectivity and high specificity, detection is of great significance. In this study, a simple device has been designed to separate H2S from aqueous solution and CsPbBr3 quantum dots (CsPbBr3 QDs) have been used as the detection probe to develop a novel fluorescent sensor for rapid H2S detection. The addition of hydrogen sulfide to the phosphoric acid solution results in the escape of H2S from the aqueous sample and hence it passing into the n-hexane solution containing CsPbBr3 QDs, resulting in the quenching of the fluorescence of CsPbBr3 QDs. The fluorescence intensity of the system has a linear relationship with the concentration of H2S in the range of 0–100 μM with the detection limit of 0.18 μM. The proposed system has been applied to detection of H2S in rat brain microdialysate with satisfying results. The potential mechanism regarding the quenching of fluorescence from CsPbBr3 QDs by H2S has been studied as well.

All-inorganic CsPbBr 3 is attracting tremendous attentions in photovoltaic field due to its superior stability. However, CsPbBr 3 perovskite always suffers from a poor crystallinity and film morphology. Many efforts have been paid on the CsBr deposition process to improve the film quality, while few attentions are paid on the crystallization kinetics of the PbBr 2 framework film. Here, we demonstrate a novel antisolvent-washing strategy for the PbBr 2 film for the first time to fabricate high-quality CsPbBr 3 film. This technique has a significant impact on the nucleation and growth of PbBr 2 crystals. As-prepared CsPbBr 3 films exhibit more homogeneous with higher crystallinity and coverage as well as larger grain sizes compared to those untreated ones. The best-performing antisolvent-treated perovskite solar cell achieves a scanned power conversion efficiency of 8.55%, which is an excellent efficiency for planar CsPbBr 3 cells reported yet. This enhancement can be mainly attributed to the more effective charge transport and suppressed non-radiative recombination caused by the reduced defect densities . Moreover, our devices show superb stability when stored in air for 1000 h and upon persistent thermal attack at 80 °C. Our work provides a new train of thought for controlling the growth dynamics and film morphology of CsPbBr 3 films.

Cesium lead halide (CsPbX3, where X is Cl, Br, or I) perovskite quantum dots (QDs) hold great potential for applications in various devices, on account of their superior electronic and optical properties. However, the poor stability has severely restricted their applications. Herein, by exfoliating K4Nb6O17 into niobate nanosheets (KNO NSs) and utilizing the flocculation of KNO NSs as building blocks, the CsPbBr3/K4–xNb6O17 (CsPbBr3/KNO) nanocomposites were obtained via evaporation of a dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) solution and crystallization of CsPbBr3 nanocrystals. The as-synthesized CsPbBr3/KNO nanocomposites possess sandwich-like and scroll-like heterostructures, which consist of restacked KNO NSs and CsPbBr3 in the internanosheet gallery. CsPbBr3/KNO nanocomposites exhibit better exciton emission of CsPbBr3 with a prolonged emission decay time with reference to the value of CsPbBr3 QDs. In addition, the strong interaction at the interfaces of CsPbBr3 and KNO NSs endows CsPbBr3/KNO nanocomposites with significantly improved resistance to alcohol over bare CsPbBr3 QDs. This work paves a new way for utilizing oxide nanosheets as building blocks to synthesize stable all-inorganic perovskite QDs.

Mn-doped CsPbBr3 perovskite nanoplatelets (NPLs) with multicolor emission have very promising applications in light-emitting devices. However, the effects of NPL thickness on the Mn2+ luminescence properties remain to be investigated. Herein, a series of Mn-doped CsPbBr3 NPLs and nanocubes with different Mn/Pb molar ratios were synthesized by a supersaturated crystallization method at room temperature. The incorporation of Mn2+ ions into CsPbBr3 perovskites is attributed to the formation of the L2[Pb1–xMnx]Br4 intermediate structure in the precursor. The excitonic peak is tuned from 437 to 488 nm and the morphology evolves from NPLs to nanocubes with an increasing Mn2+ ion doping concentration due to the excess Br– from MnBr2. The photoluminescence quantum yields (PL QYs) of NPLs/nanocubes were greatly enhanced, achieving the maximum PL QYs of 88.7% at the Mn/Pb molar ratio of 3/1. The PL lifetime of Mn2+ emission is tuned from 0.19 to 0.44 ms due to the passivation of defect states and morphology transformation. Temperature-dependent steady-state and time-resolved PL spectra revealed that deep defect states in the NPLs/nanocubes were significantly reduced as the thickness increased. The Mn-doped CsPbBr3 NPLs/nanocubes show great potential for application in white light-emitting diodes.

Zero-dimensional quantum dots (QDs) with formulas of Cs4PbX6 and CsPbX3 (X = I, Br, Cl) have emerged in recent years for next-generation functional materials in optoelectronics fields. However, CsPbX3 and Cs4PbX6 QDs are unstable when separated from colloidal solution, still less enduring thermal and water attack. Herein, lithium disilicate glass ceramics, a fantastic dental restorative material with excellent mechanical properties and good semitransparency, have been used as the rigid armor to keep CsPbBr3/Cs4PbBr6 QDs away from destructive environmental influences. Notably, lithium disilicate glass ceramics can effectively prevent the aggregation and further growth of QDs even at a high calcination temperature (600 °C), while the average particle sizes of the QDs in lithium disilicate glass ceramic are only ∼3.3 nm. The CsPbBr3/Cs4PbBr6 quantum dot glass microcrystalline prepared at 600 °C exhibits intense green emission at ∼520 nm with a greatly enhanced emission intensity of ∼5.1 times that of the sample prepared at 500 °C. Interestingly, the abnormal luminescence enhancement (∼195%) appeared after the as-prepared CsPbBr3/Cs4PbBr6 quantum dot glass microcrystalline was immersed in water for 72 h. The ultrastable CsPbBr3/Cs4PbBr6 QDs glass microcrystalline exhibits great potential in lighting and displays fields similar to traditional inorganic phosphors.

Although stable perovskite phosphors, i.e., CsPbBr 3 /Cs 4 PbBr 6 , were extensively reported and made great progress, achieving strong photoluminescence (PL) energy outcoupling remains challenging owing to their short Stoke’s shift with serious PL energy absorption. This study utilized internal resonant scattering (IRS) to improve the PL energy outcoupling (PEO) of CsPbBr 3 /Cs 4 PbBr 6 perovskite phosphor, which was realized by the nanopore-packing perovskite particles (NP-PPs) structure inside a phosphor. The nano-porous matrix hybrid solid–liquid interfacial reaction was developed to construct NP-PPs in a phosphor, and it is optimized to achieve a denser NP-PP structure with an enhanced PEO effect (2.8-fold enhanced PL intensity). Numerical results revealed that the NP-PP structure transforms the PL energy absorption mode to the IRS mode, most of the scattering PL energy evades NP-PPs instead of propagating inside. The optimized phosphor was applied to white devices, and we finally achieved an ultrahigh luminous efficacy of 131.32 lm/W based on green perovskite phosphors. This study provides a general guide for efficient perovskite phosphors utilizing the nano-porous matrix to enable the IRS effect.

All-inorganic CsPbX 3 (X = Cl, Br, and I) perovskite nanocrystals (NCs) have great application prospects in many fields due to their excellent photoelectric properties. However, CsPbX 3 NCs are extremely sensitive to water, heat, light, and oxygen, which leads to dramatic photoluminescence quenching and seriously restricts their future commercial applications. Herein, a novel, simple one-step solution strategy for synthesizing high-quality CsPbBr 3 NCs was reported. By the combination of the hot-injection process with the mesoporous template confinement effect of the KIT-6 matrix, the space-confined growth of NCs was precisely achieved. The CsPbBr 3 NCs encapsulated by KIT-6 (CsPbBr 3 @KIT-6 composite) exhibited a uniform size, a high photoluminescence quantum yield (PLQY) of up to 82%, and a narrow full width at half-maximum (FWHM) of 24 nm. Most importantly, CsPbBr 3 @KIT-6 powder composites had dramatically enhanced light, thermal and water stability in comparison with colloidal CsPbBr 3 NCs due to the dual protection of organic ligands and matrix templates. Ultimately, a white light-emitting diode (LED) device was successfully fabricated by encapsulating a mixture of green-emitting CsPbBr 3 @KIT-6 composite and red-emitting K 2 SiF 6 :Mn 4+ phosphor onto a blue-emitting InGaN LED chip. A color coordinate of (0.327, 0.337) and a wide color gamut of 128% NTSC well demonstrate their potential applications in lighting and display.

All-inorganic perovskite photodetectors aroused widespread attention due to the splendid photoelectric characteristics and stability. However, the inherent defects in perovskite films hinders the progress of the photodetectors. Here, a Lewis base of thioacetamide additive was used to passivate defects in CsPbBr 3 perovskite films based on Lewis acid-base interactions. The quality of the film has been distinctly enhanced due to the interaction between the S donor in thioacetamide and the uncoordinated Pb 2+ in perovskite, diminishing the defect state density and inhibits the non-radiative recombination. The self-powered champion device based on CsPbBr 3 film contain optimum thioacetamide additive exhibits a lower dark current density of 4.01 nA/cm 2 , a peak responsivity of 0.39 A/W, a rapid rise/decay time of 12.4 μs/56.2 μs, a peak detectivity of 1.08 × 10 13 Jones and a lager linear dynamic range of 99 dB, which are much better than photodetector based on CsPbBr 3 perovskite without TAA additive. Furthermore, it exhibits high-resolution imaging sensing capability at zero bias. This research affords guidance for the performance improvement and application of all-inorganic perovskite photodetectors.

All-inorganic perovskite CsPbBr3 single crystals (SCs) possessing both excellent photoelectric properties and environmental stability have become promising photoelectric materials. However, it remains challenging to prepare high-quality CsPbBr3 SCs with regular shape using a solution growth method due to the difference in growth rates along different crystal orientations and the difficulty in controlling the number of nucleation seeds. In this work, a solution refinement strategy has been introduced into the choline bromide assisted inverse temperature crystallization method for achieving high-quality cuboid-shaped CsPbBr3 SCs. The acquired CsPbBr3 SCs exhibit a relatively low trap density of 4.02 × 109 cm−3 and a relatively high carrier mobility of 89.72 cm2 V−1 s−1. Furthermore, the as-grown CsPbBr3 SC based photodetector exhibits high photodetection performance, especially ultrasensitive weak light detection performance. Under 530 nm light irradiation with a low light power density of 0.11 μW cm−2, the responsivity and external quantum efficiency of the CsPbBr3 SC based photodetector at a bias of 10 V could reach 36.4 A W−1 and 8520%, respectively, and a fast response speed with a rise time of 2.84 μs and a fall time of 6.38 μs has been achieved. It is worth noting that the photodetector exhibits an extremely low detection limit of 2.25 nW cm−2, indicating its great potential for weak light detection.

Cesium lead halide perovskite nanocrystals (PNCs) have attracted great attention in optoelectronic devices due to their excellent optical properties, such as tunable emission wavelengths, long carrier lifetime, and narrow full width at half-maximum (fwhm). However, the poor stability of PNCs in water or humid environments greatly limits their wide-spreading applications. It is challenging to prepare PNCs with long-term stability in water. Herein, we successfully prepared CsPbBr3@PDMS microspheres by using the emulsification method. Due to the protection of the PDMS layer, the CsPbBr3@PDMS microspheres exhibit good optical properties and stability in water, acid, and alkali solutions. In addition, to expand the application of CsPbBr3 NCs in flexible optical devices and wearable devices, we first prepared stretchable, stable, and photoluminescent hydrogel with a CsPbBr3@PDMS microsphere (hydrogel/CsPbBr3@PDMS) by using the emulsification method. The hydrogel/CsPbBr3@PDMS elastomer exhibits good stability and stretchability. Furthermore, the hydrogel/CsPbBr3@PDMS elastomer retains bright green emission and stability under different mechanical deformations. This work provides a method to improve the CsPbBr3 PNCs with high stability by emulsification, which could also expand the applications of PNCs in underwater display, wearable, and flexible optoelectronic devices.

All-inorganic perovskite quantum dots (PeQDs) have sparked extensive research focus on white-light-emitting diodes (WLEDs), but stability and photoluminescence efficiency issues are still remain obstacles impeding their practical application. Here, we reported a facile one-step method to synthesize CsPbBr3 PeQDs at room temperature using branched didodecyldimethylammonium fluoride (DDAF) and short-chain-length octanoic acid as capping ligands. The obtained CsPbBr3 PeQDs have a near-unity photoluminescence quantum yield of 97% due to the effective passivation of DDAF. More importantly, they exhibit much improved stability against air, heat, and polar solvents, maintaining >70% of initial PL intensity. Making use of these excellent optoelectronic properties, WLEDs based on CsPbBr3 PeQDs, CsPbBr1.2I1.8 PeQDs, and blue LEDs were fabricated, which show a color gamut of 122.7% of the National Television System Committee standard, a luminous efficacy of 17.1 lm/W, with a color temperature of 5890 K, and CIE coordinates of (0.32, 0.35). These results indicate that the CsPbBr3 PeQDs have great practical potential in wide-color-gamut displays.
