Astaxanthin-loaded polylactic acid-glycolic acid nanoparticles alleviates atherosclerosis by suppressing macrophage ferroptosis via the NRF2/SLC7A11/GPX4 pathway

Mengying Jin,Xiao Chen,Lanzhuoying Zheng,Yuanyuan Peng,Mingying Lin,Ke Liang,Xinran Liu,Zihan Xu,Yiming Yang,Baozhu Wei,Jing Wan

Background Astaxanthin (ASX), a fat-soluble carotenoid mainly sourced from Haematococcus pluvialis, shows promise for clinical applications in chronic inflammatory diseases. This study investigates whether ASX can mitigate atherosclerosis (AS) by modulating macrophage ferroptosis and provides astaxanthin-loaded polylactic acid-glycolic acid nanoparticles (ASX-PLGA NPs) as comparison. Method ApoE−/− mice were fed a high-fat diet with ASX or statin intervention. Plaque area, lipid aggregation, collagen content, and ferroptosis-related indicators were assessed. Moreover, ASX-PLGA NPs were synthesized and characterized and were used to pretreat macrophages induced with oxidized low-density lipoprotein (ox-LDL). Indicators linked to ferroptosis and oxidative stress were detected. Finally, the expression of nuclear factor erythroid -related factor 2 (NRF2) was evaluated. Results ASX intervention significantly delayed the progression of AS plaques, characterized by reductions in plaque area and increased collagen fibers. The observed improvements in AS were consistent with statins. ASX-PLGA NPs demonstrate good safety and stability and have better therapeutic effects than ASX alone. Indicators linked to ferroptosis and oxidative stress were significantly improved in groups containing ASX in vivo and vitro. Additionally, ASX facilitated the nuclear translocation of NRF2, which could be attenuated with ML385, a specific inhibitor of NRF 2. Conclusion ASX-PLGA NPs have better therapeutic effects than ASX alone. The regulation of NRF2/SLC7A11/GPX4 represents a novel mechanism by which ASX can counteract ferroptosis and impede AS progression.

Brown Algae Polysaccharides Alleviate Diquat-Induced Oxidative Stress in Piglets and IPEC-J2 Cells via Nrf2/ARE Signaling Pathway

Chunjie Hou,Zirou Yu,Chenyu Shi,Ya Huang,Hu Liu

Oxidative stress caused by weaning is widespread in pig breeding and poses a serious threat to the health of piglets. As a feed additive, Brown algae polysaccharides (BAPs) have a good application prospect and have antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and antiviral activities. The present study was conducted to investigate the effects of BAP on oxidative stress in piglets. The results showed that BAPs alleviated the oxidative stress damage caused by diquat and improved the antioxidant capacity and intestinal barrier capacity of weaned piglets and IPEC-J2 cells. It is worth noting that BAPs also promoted the translocation of Nrf2 from the cytoplasm to the nucleus. These results provide a new way to illustrate the mechanism of BAPs alleviating oxidative stress in piglets. This study investigated the effect of Brown algae polysaccharides (BAPs) on diquat-induced oxidative stress in piglets and IPEC-J2 cells through Nrf2/ARE signaling pathway. In the in vivo model, 24 male piglets of the Duroc × Landrace × Large White breed were selected and divided into 4 groups (n = 6), including the CON group (basal diet), DIQ group (10 mg/kg Diquat), BAP group (1000 mg/kg BAP), and BAP+DIQ group (1000 mg/kg BAP + 10 mg/kg Diquat). Compared with the DIQ group, BAP improved growth performance and the BAP+DIQ group reduced the levels of IL-1β, IL-6, TNF-α, and DAO in plasma, increased VH and VCR, improved jejunal tissue morphology, decreased MDA levels, and increased T-AOC ( p < 0.05). Additionally, the BAP+DIQ group elevated mRNA levels of ZO-1 , and enhanced the protein levels of Occludin, Claudin1, CAT, SOD1, and HO-1 ( p < 0.05). In the in vitro model, the BAP+DIQ group decreased MDA levels, increased T-AOC, elevated mRNA levels of ZO-1 , CAT and SOD2 , as well as protein levels of Claudin1, SOD1, HO-1, and total Nrf2 compared with the DIQ group ( p < 0.05). Furthermore, BAP increased nuclear Nrf2 protein levels, and promoted the translocation of Nrf2 from the cytoplasm to the nucleus compared with the DIQ group ( p < 0.05). In conclusion, BAPs are crucial for enhancing piglets’ antioxidant capacity via Nrf2 pathway activation. These findings highlight BAP’s potential as a natural feed additive to mitigate oxidative stress and improve overall health in piglets. Further research is warranted to explore BAPs as a dietary supplement to support gut health and reduce oxidative stress.

3,3′-diindolylmethane induces ferroptosis and inhibits proliferation in non-small-cell lung cancer through the AHR/NRF2/GPX4 axis

Guo Lin,Zhang Jia,Li Yuqiang,Gao Yuehong,Huang Jiali,Liu Mengru,Li Jing,Chai Wenshu,Li Yubin

Aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AHR) is a ligand-activated transcription factor. In lung cancer, AHR activation stimulates cancer cell proliferation and promotes tissue invasion and metastasis, and targeting the AHR pathway is an effective way to prevent and treat lung cancer. In lung cancer, AHR binds to the NRF2 promoter region to promote carcinogenesis, but treatment research based on AHR/NRF2 pathway is insufficient. 3,3′-diindolylmethane (DIM), an active phytochemical derivative extracted from cruciferous vegetables, is a modulator of AHR. In this study, We investigated the medicinal value of DIM in NSCLC (non-small cell lung cancer) by in vivo and in vitro experiments and explored the underlying mechanisms. In vitro studies showed that DIM inhibited the viability of NSCLC and induced apoptosis and cycle arrest in cancer cells. DIM inhibited the migration and invasion of NSCLC cells by reversing the epithelial-mesenchymal transition. DIM induced ferroptosis in NSCLC cells; increased cellular Fe 2+ , ROS (reactive oxygen species), and MDA; decreased cellular GSH, AHR, NRF2, and GPX4; and disrupted the mitochondrial membrane potential. The effect of DIM-induced ferroptosis can be reversed by the AHR receptor antagonist CH-223191, ferroptosis inhibitor Fer-1, and ROS scavenger NAC. Overexpression of NRF2 reversed DIM-induced ferroptosis. Identical results were obtained in a nude mouse xenograft model. In summary, we have confirmed that DIM has significant potential in the treatment of non-small cell lung cancer. DIM induces cancer cell ferroptosis through the AHR/NRF2/GPX4 axis. These findings provide experimental basis for DIM treatment and future clinical research in non-small cell lung cancer.

Neohesperidin Dihydrochalcone versus CCl4-Induced Hepatic Injury through Different Mechanisms: The Implication of Free Radical Scavenging and Nrf2 Activation

Chuanyang Su,Xiaomin Xia,Qiong Shi,Xiufang Song,Juanli Fu,Congxue Xiao,Hongjun Chen,Bin Lu,Zhiyin Sun,Shanmei Wu,Siyu Yang,Xuegang Li,Xiaoli Ye,Erqun Song,Yang Song

Neohesperidin dihydrochalcone (NHDC), a sweetener derived from citrus, belongs to the family of bycyclic flavonoids dihydrochalcones. NHDC has been reported to act against CCl4-induced hepatic injury, but its mechanism is still unclear. We first discovered that NHDC showed a strong ability to scavenge free radicals. In addition, NHDC induces the phase II antioxidant enzymes heme oxygenase 1 (HO-1) and NAD(P)H/quinone oxidoreductase 1 (NQO1) through the activation of the nuclear factor (erythroid-derived 2)-like 2 (Nrf2)/antioxidant response element (ARE) signaling. Further assays demonstrated that NHDC induces accumulation of Nrf2 in the nucleus and augmented Nrf2-ARE binding activity. Moreover, NHDC inhibits the ubiquitination of Nrf2 and suggests the modification of Kelch-like ECH-associated protein 1 (Keap1) and the disruption of the Keap1/Nrf2 complex. c-Jun N-terminal kinase (JNK) and p38 but not extracellular signal-regulated protein kinase (ERK) phosphorylations were up-regulated by NHDC treatment. Taken together, NHDC showed its protective antioxidant effect against CCl4-induced oxidative damage via the direct free radical scavenging and indirect Nrf2/ARE signaling pathway.

Oleanolic acid attenuates obstructive cholestasis in bile duct-ligated mice, possibly via activation of NRF2-MRPs and FXR antagonism

Pan Chen,Jingjie Li,Xiaomei Fan,Hang Zeng,Rongrong Deng,Dongshun Li,Min Huang,Huichang Bi

Obstructive cholestasis is characterized by impairment of hepatic canalicular bile efflux and there are no clinically effective drugs to cure except surgeries. Previously we revealed that oleanolic acid (OA) protected against lithocholic acid (LCA)-induced intrahepatic cholestasis in mice. Cholestasis caused by LCA is characterized by segmental bile duct obstruction, whether OA possesses the beneficial effect on completed obstructive cholestasis induced by bile duct ligation (BDL) remains unknown. In this study, we demonstrated that BDL-induced mice liver pathological change, and increase in serum levels of ALT, AST and ALP were all significantly reduced by OA (20   mg/kg, i.p.). Meanwhile, OA also lowered total bilirubin and total bile acids levels in serum, as well as total bile acids level in liver, in contrast, urinary total bile acids output was remarkably up-regulated by OA. Gene expression analysis showed that OA caused significant increased mRNA expression of MRP3 and MRP4 located at hepatic basolateral membrane , and restoration of MRP2 and BSEP located at hepatic cannalicular membrane. Furthermore, significant NRF2 protein accumulation in nucleus was also observed in OA treated mice. In mice primary cultured hepatocytes, the effects of OA on MRP2, MRP3 and MRP4 expression were directly proved to be mediated via NRF2 activation, and BSEP downregulation induced by OA was in part due to FXR antagonism. Luciferase assay performed in Hep G2 cells also illustrated that OA was a partial FXR antagonist. Taken together, we conclude that OA attenuates obstructive cholestasis in BDL mice, possibly via activation of NRF2-MRPs and FXR antagonism.

Ginsenoside Re Regulates Oxidative Stress through the PI3K/Akt/Nrf2 Signaling Pathway in Mice with Scopolamine-Induced Memory Impairments

Xin Li,Kai Zheng,Hao Chen,Wei Li

While Ginsenoside Re has been shown to protect the central nervous system, reports of its effects on memory in the model of scopolamine-induced memory impairment are rare. The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of Ginsenoside Re on scopolamine (SCOP)-induced memory damage and the mechanism of action. Male ICR mice were treated with SCOP (3 mg/kg) for 7 days and with or without Ginsenoside Re for 14 days. As evidenced by behavioral studies (escape latency and cross platform position), brain tissue morphology, and oxidative stress indicators after Ginsenoside Re treatment, the memory damage caused by SCOP was significantly ameliorated. Further mechanism research indicated that Ginsenoside Re inhibited cell apoptosis by regulating the PI3K/Akt/Nrf2 pathway, thereby exerting a cognitive impairment improvement effect. This research suggests that Ginsenoside Re could protect against SCOP-induced memory defects possibly through inhibiting oxidative stress and cell apoptosis.

Isolicoflavonol ameliorates acute liver injury via inhibiting NLRP3 inflammasome activation through boosting Nrf2 signaling in vitro and in vivo

Xing-Jie Zhang,Yu-Kun Pu,Peng-Yun Yang,Meng-Ru Wang,Rui-Han Zhang,Xiao-Li Li,Wei-Lie Xiao

Background NOD like receptor pyrin domain containing 3 (NLRP3) inflammasome is involved in innate immunity, and related to liver injury. However, no inflammasome inhibitors are clinically available until now. Our previous research suggests that isolicoflavonol (ILF), isolated from Macaranga indica , is a potent NLRP3 inflammasome inhibitor, but its mechanism is unclear. Methods Fluorescent imaging and Western blot assay were used to ascertain the effects of ILF on pyroptosis and NLRP3 inflammasome activation in macrophages. Next, Nrf2 signal pathway, its downstream gene transcription and expression were further investigated. ML385, a Nrf2 inhibitor, was used to verify whether ILF targets Nrf2 signaling. A carbon tetrachloride induced liver injury model was introduced to evaluate the liver protection activity of ILF in mice. Results This work revealed that ILF inhibited macrophage LDH release and IL-1β secretion in a dose-dependent manner. ILF had no significant cytotoxic effect on macrophage, it reduced pyroptosis and Gasdermin D N-terminal fragment formation. Moreover, ILF inhibited IL-1β maturation and Caspase-1 cleavage, but did not affect NLRP3, pro-Caspase-1, pro-IL-1β and ASC expression. ILF decreased ASC speck rate and reduced ASC oligomer formation. ILF decreased aggregated JC-1 formation restoring mitochondria membrane potential. In addition, ILF increased Nrf2 expression, extended Nrf2 lifespan and upregulated Nrf2 signaling pathway in macrophages whether the NLRP3 inflammasome was activated or not. Besides, ILF increased Nrf2 nuclear translocation, maintained a high proportion of Nrf2 in the nucleus, and upregulated ARE-related gene transcription and expression. Furthermore, Nrf2 signal inhibition attenuated compound ILF-mediated inhibition of pyroptosis, inflammasome activation and upregulation of Nrf2 signaling. ILF in a liver injury mouse model inhibited NLRP3 inflammasome activation and enhanced Nrf2 signaling. Conclusion Our study verified that ILF ameliorates liver injury via inhibiting NLRP3 inflammasome activation through boosting Nrf2 signaling, and highlighted that ILF is a potent anti-inflammatory drug for inflammasome-related liver diseases.

Diallyl trisulfide regulates PGK1/Nrf2 expression and reduces inflammation to alleviate neurological damage in mice after traumatic brain injury

Yafei Chen,Jianliang Pang,Yulong Chen,Ying Liang,Zhengbo Zhang,Zhangquan Wang

Background Diallyl trisulfide (DATS) has a direct antioxidant capacity and emerges as a promising neuroprotective agent. This study was designed to investigate the role of DATS in traumatic brain injury (TBI). Methods TBI mouse models were established using the controlled weight-drop impact, followed by DATS administration. The effects of DATS on neurological deficit, brain damage, inflammation and phosphoglycerate kinase 1 (PGK1) expression were detected using mNSS test, histological analysis, TUNEL assay, enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay and immunofluorescence. PC12 cells were subjected to H 2 O 2 -induced oxidative injury after pre-treatment with DATS, followed by cell counting kit-8 assay, flow cytometry and ROS production detection. Apoptosis-related proteins and the PGK1/nuclear factor erythroid-2 related factor 2 (Nrf2) pathway were examined using Western blot. Results DATS ameliorated the cerebral cortex damage, neurological dysfunction and apoptosis, as well as decreased PGK1 positivity and expressions of pro-inflammatory cytokines (IL-6, IL-1β, TNF-α) in mice after TBI. DATS also enhanced viability, blocked apoptosis and inhibited ROS production in H 2 O 2 -induced PC12 cells. DATS downregulated Cleaved-Caspase3, Bax and PGK1 levels, and upregulated Bcl-2 and Nrf2 levels in TBI mouse models and the injured cells. Conclusion DATS regulates PGK1/Nrf2 expression and inflammation to alleviate neurological damage in mice after TBI.

Melatonin-Derived Carbon Dots with Free Radical Scavenging Property for Effective Periodontitis Treatment via the Nrf2/HO-1 Pathway

Xirui Xin,Junjun Liu,Xinchan Liu,Yu Xin,Yubo Hou,Xingchen Xiang,Yu Deng,Bai Yang,Weixian Yu

Periodontitis is a chronic inflammatory disease closely associated with reactive oxygen species (ROS) involvement. Eliminating ROS to control the periodontal microenvironment and alleviate the inflammatory response could potentially serve as an efficacious therapy for periodontitis. Melatonin (MT), renowned for its potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory characteristics, is frequently employed as an ROS scavenger in inflammatory diseases. However, the therapeutic efficacy of MT remains unsatisfactory due to the low water solubility and poor bioavailability. Carbon dots have emerged as a promising and innovative nanomaterial with facile synthesis, environmental friendliness, and low cost. In this study, melatonin-derived carbon dots (MT-CDs) were successfully synthesized via the hydrothermal method. The MT-CDs have good water solubility and biocompatibility and feature excellent ROS-scavenging capacity without additional modification. The in vitro experiments proved that MT-CDs efficiently regulated intracellular ROS, which maintained mitochondrial homeostasis and suppressed the production of inflammatory mediators. Furthermore, findings from the mouse model of periodontitis indicated that MT-CDs significantly inhibited the deterioration of alveolar bone and reduced osteoclast activation and inflammation, thereby contributing to the regeneration of damaged tissue. In terms of the mechanism, MT-CDs may scavenge ROS, thereby preventing cellular damage and the production of inflammatory factors by regulating the nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2 (Nrf2)/heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1) pathway. The findings will offer a vital understanding of the advancement of secure and effective ROS-scavenging platforms for more biomedical applications.

Perillaldehyde pretreatment alleviates cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury by improving mitochondrial structure and function via the Nrf2/Keap1/Trx2 axis

Ji Liu,Ying Han,Zhiyun Wu,Manli Chen,Wenwen Wu,Zijun Zhao,Jinjin Yuan,Zhijian Zheng,Qiang Lin,Nan Liu,Hongbin Chen

Background Perilladehyde, an extract of perillae in the Labiatae family, can produce significant anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects. Although literature evidences the favorable effect of perillaldehyde on ischemic stroke, the exact mechanism remains blurred. Purpose This study attempted to explore the impact of perillaldehyde on cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury and the related action mechanism. Methods The rat tMCAO and neuronal OGD/R models were established to simulate cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury. Lentiviruses were used to interfere with the expression of Nrf2 and Trx2 in neurons. The effects and action mechanisms of perillaldehyde were explored by various experimental methods, including chromatin immunoprecipitation assay, Western Blot, flow cytometry, dual-luciferase reporter gene assay, transmission electron microscopy, MRI, RNA-seq, and immunofluorescence staining. Results Perillaldehyde pretreatment effectively mitigated the tMCAO-induced brain injury in rats by reducing cerebral infarction, improving neuromotor function, and attenuating cell apoptosis in the ischemic penumbra. In vitro, perillaldehyde pretreatment alleviated cell death and excessive oxidative stress, preserved the mitochondrial membrane integrity, enhanced mitochondrial energy metabolism, and facilitated the restoration of mitochondrial ultrastructure after OGD/R. The mechanism probe revealed that perillaldehyde activated the Nrf2/Keap1/Trx2 signaling axis, thus promoting the transcription of Trx2 and improving mitochondrial structure and function. The aforementioned impacts of perillaldehyde were somewhat counteracted by disrupting the expression of Nrf2 and Trx2, suggesting that the neuroprotection of perillaldehyde partially involves the activation of the Nrf2/Keap1/Trx2 axis. Conclusions This study firstly demonstrates the existence of the Nrf2/Keap1/Trx2 signaling axis in cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury and evidences that perillaldehyde pretreatment can promote the restoration of neuronal mitochondrial structure and function by activating the Nrf2/Keap1/Trx2 axis after cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury. These findings signify that perillaldehyde holds great promises for clinical management of ischemic stroke.

Radish red attenuates chronic kidney disease in obese mice through repressing oxidative stress and ferroptosis via Nrf2 signaling improvement

Qiang Li,Yanbin Zheng,Jianyu Zhao,Xinyi Wei,Zongxin Shi,Haonan Fan,Chenxu Ge,Minxuan Xu,Jun Tan

Chronic kidney disease (CKD) presents a significant public health concern, with obesity being a prominent contributing factor to kidney disorders by inducing oxidative stress, lipotoxicity, and tubular cell injury. Natural anthocyanins extracted from red radishes ( Raphanus sativus L.) exert antioxidant and anti-apoptotic functions. This study aims to employ a novel natural pigment anthocyanin, referred to as radish red (RR) isolated from red radishes, to alleviate obesity-related metabolic disturbances and kidney impairment in a CKD mouse model induced by high-fat and high-fructose diets (HFFD). The in vitro study initially demonstrated that RR treatment significantly mitigated the palmitate acid (PA)-induced injury and cytotoxicity in human tubular epithelial HK2 cells. Subsequently, RR supplementation notably improved obesity and associated metabolic dysfunctions in mice caused by HFFD . Abnormal renal function indices including serum creatinine, blood urea nitrogen (BUN), uric acid (UA), urine protein, albuminuria and urine albumin-to-creatinine ratio (UACR) were detected in HFFD-fed mice, which were effectively alleviated by RR treatment. Histologically, renal tubular cell injury, lipid deposition, tubular dilatation, and renal fibrosis induced by HFFD were markedly improved after RR administration in mice. Furthermore, RR treatment significantly alleviated oxidative stress in HFFD-fed mice, as evidenced by the decreased renal reactive oxygen species (ROS) production, 4-HNE, and NOX4 expression levels. Anti-oxidants such as superoxide dismutase-1 (SOD1), NAD (P) H: quinone oxidoreductase (NQO1), heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1) and glutamate cysteine ligase (GCLC) were highly upregulated in kidney of HFFD-fed mice with RR consumption through improving NFE2-related factor 2 (Nrf2) signaling activation. Furthermore, ferroptosis was identified in the kidneys of HFFD-fed mice, evidenced by the elevated levels of malondialdehyde (MDA), iron content, and lipid peroxidation, along with the decreased expression of glutathione peroxidase 4 (GPX4) and solute carrier family 7 member 11 (SLC7A11). These occurrences were significantly mitigated following RR treatment. Mechanistically, we further discovered that the suppressive effects of RR in restricting oxidative stress, ferroptosis, lipid accumulation, and injury of tubular epithelial cells induced by PA were significantly counteracted by Nrf2 knockdown. Collectively, our results demonstrated that dietary supplementation with RR could potentially serve as an efficacious therapeutic modality for the management of obesity-related CKD progression by enhancing Nrf2 activation to impede oxidative stress and ferroptosis.

Ursodeoxycholic acid protects against sepsis-induced acute kidney injury by activating Nrf2/HO-1 and inhibiting NF-κB pathway

Lou Yunpeng,Shi Hongguang,Sha Ning,Li Feifei,Gu Xiaofeng,Lin Huiyan

Background Ursodeoxycholic acid (UDCA), traditionally recognized for its hepatoprotective effects, has also shown potential in protecting kidney injury. This study aimed to evaluate the protective effects of UDCA against sepsis-induced acute kidney injury (AKI) and to elucidate the underlying mechanisms. Methods Sixty male C57BL/6 N mice were utilized to establish a sepsis-induced AKI model through intravenous injection of lipopolysaccharides (LPS, 10 mg/kg). UDCA (15, 30, and 60 mg/kg) was administered intraperitoneally once daily for 7 days before LPS injection. Kidney injury was evaluated by HE staining and biochemical markers, including serum creatinine (Cr), blood urea nitrogen (BUN), urinary protein, neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin (NGAL), kidney injury molecule-1 (KIM-1), N-acetyl-β-D-glucosaminidase (NAG), and retinol binding protein (RBP). Oxidative stress parameters and nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2 (Nrf2)/ heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1) pathway, pro-inflammatory cytokines and nuclear factor-kappa B (NF-κB) pathway were also evaluated. Additionally, HK-2 cells were treated with LPS in vitro, and cell viability and apoptosis were detected using CCK-8 kit and flow cytometer, respectively. Results UDCA significantly attenuated LPS-induced renal histopathological damage and improved renal function, as evidenced by reduction in serum Cr, BUN, and urinary protein levels. UDCA also up-regulated the protein expression of zonula occludens-1 (ZO-1) and Ezrin in the kidney, and reduced the urinary levels of NGAL, KIM-1, NAG, and RBP. Moreover, UDCA inhibited NF-κB p65 phosphorylation and reduced pro-inflammatory cytokines levels (TNF-α, IL-1β, and IL-6) in both serum and kidney. UDCA alleviated oxidative stress by activating the Nrf2/HO-1 pathway in the kidney. In vitro, UDCA reduced LPS-induced cell injury and apoptosis in HK-2 cells, with these protective effects being blocked by the Nrf2 inhibitor ML385.Conclusion sOur present study demonstrated that UDCA exerts protective effects against sepsis-induced AKI by attenuating oxidative stress and inflammation, primarily through the activation of the Nrf2/HO-1 pathway and inhibition of the NF-κB pathway. These findings highlight the therapeutic potential of UDCA in preventing sepsis-induced AKI.
