The exponential accumulation of polymeric waste presents a critical environmental challenge. Recycling thermosets remains particularly formidable compared to thermoplastics due to their intractable, permanently crosslinked networks. Addressing this, chemical strategies that precisely target recyclable linkages within these robust structures offer a pathway to circularity. Here, we demonstrate an efficient chemical recycling protocol that successfully depolymerizes waste polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and cyanate ester (CE) resins into high-value small molecules, which are recovered with high purity via a streamlined separation process. Significantly, we establish a 'full-waste upcycling' paradigm based on heterogeneous waste integration, converting these recovered precursors into robust, novel cyanate ester thermosets. Unlike traditional thermosets, these fully waste-derived materials exhibit thermal shape-memory behavior, solvent-assisted chemical healing capability, and closed-loop recyclability. We elucidate a diol-mediated nucleophilic aromatic substitution (S N Ar) mechanism that facilitates the chemical recycling of these networks, enabling the regeneration of copolymers without compromising their fundamental physicochemical properties. Demonstrated as degradable electrical insulating coatings, these materials highlight a versatile and sustainable route for the circular economy of high-performance polymers.

BHETase_B exhibited higher activity toward BHET than PET and MHET. • Half-lives of engineered BHETase_B (>5.0 h) was greater than WT at 50 °C. • Mutant Q7I/A106P achieves complete degradation of BHET within 2 h at 50 °C. • Mutant Q7I/A106P plus TurboPETase can synergistically degrade PET. Polyethylene terephthalate (PET) plastic waste poses significant environmental challenges. Enzymatic degradation of PET offers a sustainable recycling route, but intermediate products such as bis (2-hydroxyethyl) terephthalate (BHET) and mono (2-hydroxyethyl) terephthalate (MHET) can inhibit further hydrolysis. A bis (2-hydroxyethyl) terephthalate hydrolase (BHETase_B) from Stenotrophomonas pavanii exhibited hydrolytic activity toward both BHET and MHET, but its poor thermal stability limited industrial application. In this study, a combination of rational design and directed evolution strategies were employed to generate BHETase_B mutants, all of which exhibited significantly improved thermal stability with half-lives greater than 5.0 h at 50 °C, compared to the wild type (<1.5 h). Notably, mutant Q7I/A106P demonstrated a 7.6 °C increase in melting temperature (Tm = 52.5 °C for the wild type) and achieved complete degradation of BHET within 2 h at 50 °C. Mutant Q7I/A106P alone showed limited activity toward solid PET, but significantly enhanced product release when combined with PET hydrolases, especially TurboPETase, releasing 206.1 μM of products, a 1.4-fold increase compared with TurboPETase alone. These findings highlighted the potential of the engineered BHETase_B mutant as a downstream auxiliary enzyme for improving cascade PET degradation. Abstract Carbonic anhydrase IX (CA IX) is a key biomarker for tumor hypoxia and a promising target for molecular imaging. In this study, we developed [68Ga]Ga-DOTA-L3, a novel small-molecule CA IX-targeted PET tracer. The radiolabeling was optimized to consistently achieve a radiochemical purity of >98% (10 μg precursor, 90 °C, pH 4.5, 10 min), with excellent stability in saline and FBS up to 240 min. In vivo studies demonstrated rapid blood clearance and predominant renal excretion. Surface plasmon resonance analysis demonstrated high-affinity binding of the DOTA-L3 precursor toward CA IX (Kd = 7.60 ± 0.37 nM) with highest affinity observed for CA IX among the tested isoforms. MicroPET/CT imaging (30−240 min p.i.) showed robust tumor accumulation in OSRC-2 (SUVmean = 1.47 ± 0.21) and HT-29 (SUVmean = 1.03 ± 0.12) xenografts, while minimal uptake was observed in CA IX-low FTC-238 tumors (SUVmean = 0.21 ± 0.05) at 60 min p.i. PET-derived tumor uptake showed a strong linear correlation with CA IX expression levels (R2 = 0.976, P < 0.001) across the three tumor models. High tumor-to-muscle and tumor-to-blood ratios further confirm favorable imaging contrast (T/M = 27.53 ± 1.89 and T/B = 24.61 ± 2.35 at 240 min p.i. for OSRC-2 model). These results support [68Ga]Ga-DOTA-L3 as a promising candidate for non-invasive assessment of CA IX-associated hypoxia and as a scaffold for future theranostic development.

Heavy metal pollution in industrial effluents continues to be a major obstacle to environmentally friendly water reuse. To effectively remove heavy metal ions from wastewater, a unique Zeolite-NaX-doped polyethylene terephthalate–polysulfone membrane (Zeolite-NaX@PET-PSF) was synthesized and tested for nanofiltration wastewater treatment. The resulting membrane demonstrated remarkable mechanical integrity, maintaining a stable permeate flux of about 16 ± 0.52 L m − 2 h − 1 at an operating pressure of 10 bars without collapsing structurally. Batch and filtration tests demonstrated excellent rejection of lead, chromium, and cadmium ions, with removal efficiency as high as 99%. Cobalt, mercury, and manganese had rejection rates of 55%, 75%, and 64%, respectively, which was due to their difficulty in removal. In all filtering cycles, near-total removal of Cd 2+ , Cr 3+ , and Pb 2+ was confirmed by inductively coupled plasma–optical emission spectrometry and surface composition of the treatment membrane using energy-dispersive spectroscopy. The hydrophilic change of the membrane surface and the production of nanoscale porosity were verified by complementary BJH, contact angle, XRD, FTIR, SEM/EDX, and TEM investigations. The Zeolite-NaX@PET-PSF composite membrane is a promising platform for advanced wastewater treatment targeting heavy metal contamination.

An automatic method that combines online solid-phase extraction (online SPE) and heart-cutting two-dimensional liquid chromatography (2D-LC) was developed to determine seven fat-soluble vitamins simultaneously and was validated in pet food. The saponified sample solution was injected directly into our combined online SPE and heart-cut 2D-LC system for enrichment, purification, separation, and quantification. Vitamin A and E isomers were analyzed using pentafluorophenyl (PFP) as the first column. Vitamins D 2 and D 3 were analyzed using C 18 as the second column. The results showed good linearity (R 2 > 0.9964) for the analytes and good reproducibility (RSD < 3 %, n = 3). The limits of quantification for vitamins A, D 2 , and D 3 , and α −, β-, γ-, and δ-E (calculated using S/N = 10:1) were 0.24, 0.09, 0.09, 2.4, 2.4, 2.4 and 2.4 μg/g, respectively. The spiked recoveries were from 80.6 to 104.0 %. The proposed method considerably simplifies the analytical workflow of standard methods for the analysis of fat-soluble vitamins and improves efficiency.

Thiram, a fungicide used to protect fruits and vegetables from fungal diseases, poses severe health risks due to its residues, so rapid and reliable detection methods are required. Herein, we developed a dual signal sensor based on copper-doped room temperature phosphorescence (RTP) carbon dots (CDs) embedded in a boric acid matrix (Cu-CDs@BA) for detecting thiram in fruits and vegetables. The rigid B 2 O 3 matrix, formed through high-temperature oxidation of boric acid, suppresses non-radiative transitions and oxygen quenching in the carbon dots, stabilizing RTP and enabling simultaneous fluorescence and phosphorescence emissions. Copper ions within the Cu-CDs@BA acted as recognition sites by forming a Cu 2+ -thiram complex. The dual signal quenching mechanism involved photoinduced electron transfer (PET) and inner filter effect (IFE), which concurrently quenched fluorescence and phosphorescence. This dual signal output established an intrinsic self-calibration mechanism, significantly enhancing detection sensitivity by compensating for environmental changes. The sensor exhibits exceptional selectivity for thiram, rapid response (< 5 min), and simplified operation by eliminating the need for exogenous Cu 2+ supplementation. The spiked recovery experiments in real food matrices (banana, carrot) verified the practicality and reliability of the method. This work provided a novel strategy for multi-modal rapid detection of pesticide residues, addressing critical needs in food safety and environmental monitoring. Graphical

Deep eutectic solvents (DES) are widely used in many fields due to their properties such as low cost, easy synthesis, low toxicity, and biodegradability. The following study selected tropine and hydrated metal salts to synthesize a series of new deep eutectic solvents as catalysts for exploring the alcoholysis reaction of PET. Then the effects of the types of DES, catalyst composition, reaction time and temperature on the alcoholysis results of PET were investigated. Using a low melting solvent of tropine/zinc acetate with a molar ratio of 4:1 as a catalyst, a reaction time of 2 h, and temperature of 180°C, the conversion rate of PET was nearly 80%, and the yield of BHET was also 80%, which was further employed to prepare nano carbon dots through simple way.

Herein, using Fe 3 O 4 nanoparticles (Fe 3 O 4 NPs) as a magnetic artificial peroxidase, an “on–off” ratiometric photoluminescence sensor with high-sensitivity and high-selectivity for coumarin was constructed based on photoinduced electron transfer (PET) between 7-hydroxycoumarin and rhodamine B (RB). The results showed that Fe 3 O 4 NPs catalyzed H 2 O 2 to generate nucleophilic group ·OH, which attacked the active site of coumarin and produced strong fluorescent 7-hydroxycoumarin molecules. Then, the fluorescence of RB was quenched with 7-hydroxycoumarin through the PET effect. The ratio signal generated in the above process was used for the quantitative detection of coumarin. Under optimized conditions, the linear range 0.5–25 mg/L was acquired for coumarin with the detection limit of 0.016 mg/L. This method had excellent selectivity and the recovery rate was 81.8%−106.8% with the relative standard deviation less than 5.6%, so it can be used for the quantitative analysis of coumarin in complex matrix samples.

Silicon quantum dots (SiQDs) are explored for the first time as an efficient photocatalyst for visible-light-regulated reversible addition-fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) polymerization. The fluorescence quenching confirmed the photoinduced electron transfer (PET) between SiQDs and RAFT reagents. Besides all features of controlled radical polymerization, the SiQDs catalyzed PET-RAFT polymerization also exhibit good temporal control, high chain-end fidelity, and versatility with diverse monomers. Moreover, amino-functionalized SiQDs can be easily coated on the surface of substrates (silicon wafer) owing to the electrostatic interaction, and play a dual role of polymer–substrate connector and photocatalyst for the surface-initiated PET-RAFT polymerization. The SiQD-coated wafer was also proved to be an efficient recycle photocatalyst for PET-RAFT polymerization.

A green strategy by integrating surface-initiated metal-free photoinduced electron transfer-atom transfer radical polymerization (PET-ATRP) with mussel-inspired polydopamine (PDA) chemistry, was used to fabricate multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs)/poly(4-vinylpyridine) (P4VP) nanocomposites. Self-healing nanocomposite hydrogels were facilely designed with these nanocomposites through dynamic supramolecular interactions. Using mussel-inspired PDA chemistry from MWCNTs, nanocomposites (MWCNTs@PDA-P4VP) were successfully prepared by metal-free PET-ATRP with MWCNTs@PDA-Br as an initiator, rhodamine B as photocatalyst, 4-vinylpyridine (4VP) as monomer, respectively. Importantly, the obtained nanocomposite hydrogels had high mechanical strength (2.9 MPa), prior fracture strain (633.8%) and excellent self-healing property (90.6%). These methodologies will provide opportunities for the design of eco-functional materials or flexible biosensors.

Thrombotic disease remains a major cause of morbidity and mortality, and rapid noninvasive visualization of active thrombi is still challenging. We designed and synthesized [ 18 F]TD-1, a novel tirofiban-derived positron emission tomography (PET) tracer targeting glycoprotein IIb/IIIa (GP IIb/IIIa) for thrombus imaging, and evaluated its preclinical imaging performance. P-Tiro was synthesized as the radiolabeling precursor, and [ 18 F]TD-1 was prepared via aromatic destannylation followed by quality control. [ 18 F]TD-1 was obtained in 12.1 ± 4.2% non-decay-corrected radiochemical yield, with radiochemical purity ≥ 98% and molar activity > 37 GBq/μmol, and remained stable in vitro for 4 h. Preliminary safety evaluation of TD-1 showed no evident adverse effects during the observation period. In healthy beagle dogs, serial PET/CT imaging suggested predominant hepatobiliary clearance, with additional renal excretion. In a canine pulmonary embolism model, positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) visualized thrombi colocalized with embolic sites. Target-to-background contrast peaked at 15 min after injection, suggesting that 15 min may be a practical early time point for static imaging. These findings support further evaluation of [ 18 F]TD-1 as a tirofiban-derived PET tracer for thrombus imaging.

In this study, we prepared a new ratiometric fluorescent sensor by first encapsulating blue-fluorescent carbon dots (B-CDs) with SiO 2 , coupling gold nanoclusters (GSH-AuNCs) to the surface, and finally anchoring a layer of Ag + . The presence of UO 2 2+ caused fluorescence quenching of the ratiometric fluorescent probe when used in aqueous solutions. Furthermore, HOMO–LUMO orbital analysis suggested that the quenching mechanism was mainly attributed to photoinduced electron transfer (PET) between B-CDs@SiO 2 @GSH-AuNCs/Ag + and UO 2 2+ . Under optimal conditions, the ratiometric fluorescent probes exhibited excellent selectivity and detected UO 2 2+ at 37 nmol/L. This new “on–off” ratiometric fluorescent sensor exhibits promising potential for convenient monitoring of UO 2 2+ levels with ideal recovery in real-world water samples.
