Trace amounts of antibiotics in water can accumulate in the human body through the food chain, posing significant health risks. Therefore, there is an urgent need to develop simple and effective methods for detecting antibiotics in water. In this study, we prepared electrochemical aptamer sensors based on carbon nanotubes@polystyrene sulfonate-gold nanoparticles/reduced graphene oxide (CNT@PSS-AuNPs/rGO) layered thin films for real-time, on-site detection of ciprofloxacin (CIP) in aquaculture environments, utilizing a portable sensing detection device. The CNT@PSS-AuNPs/rGO layered film offers an excellent specific surface area, providing ample binding sites for the aptamer. The functionalized CNT@PSS-AuNPs enhance the dispersibility and conductivity of the substrate material and increase the surface area of the electrode when loaded with rGO. Under optimal experimental conditions, the developed sensor exhibits a dynamic range from 4 ng/mL to 1.0 × 10 3 ng/mL and a limit of detection of 4 ng/mL (S/N = 3), demonstrating satisfactory sensitivity. The sensor also shows good stability, with a relative standard deviation of less than 1% after 100 repeated measurements. Moreover, when combined with a portable detection platform, CIP levels in aqueous environments can be analyzed intelligently, rapidly, and timely. Our study aims to promote simple and effective detection strategies, potentially extending their practical applications.

Prussian blue (PB) as a type of metal-organic framework has attracted widespread attention in the field of electromagnetic wave (EMW) absorption due to its adjustable composition and structure. N-doped porous carbon/rGO/Fe 4 N composite is prepared by carbonizing and nitriding PB precursor. Fe 4 N/rGO/NPC exhibits the minimum reflection loss (RL min ) is −53.09 dB at 16.16 GHz of 2.2 mm, with an effective absorption bandwidth (EAB) value of 7.84 GHz (10.16–18 GHz) at 2.6 mm. The EMW absorption mechanisms analysis displayed that excellent impedance matching and various attenuation pathways including magnetic loss, conduction loss, interfacial and dipole polarization synergistically contributed to the high EMW absorption performances. The results indicate that the Fe 4 N/rGO/NPC composite derived from PB precursor presents great potential in the field of EMW absorption.

Nitrogen dioxide (NO 2 ) is a major atmospheric pollutant that poses a significant threat to human health, the development of efficient and accurate NO 2 gas sensors is crucial for air quality monitoring. Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are considered ideal materials for gas sensing due to their exceptional tunability, large surface area, high porosity, and abundant active metal sites. However, the poor conductivity of MOFs limits their applications in electrochemical sensors. This study presents a ZIF-67/rGO nanocomposite synthesized by combining reduced graphene oxide (rGO) with ZIF-67 via a one-step solution method. Experimental results demonstrate that the ZIF-67/rGO nanocomposite sensor shows significant sensitivity to NO 2 gas at room temperature. At 5 ppm NO 2 , the response is approximately 13-fold higher than that of the pure rGO sensor. More importantly, the sensor achieves a detection limit as low as 0.5 ppm, with an ultra-fast response time of 15 s and recovery time of 40 s at room temperature. Additionally, the sensor exhibits excellent repeatability, long-term stability, and high selectivity for NO 2 . This study presents an effective strategy for accurate real-time detection of low concentration NO 2 gas and provides valuable insights for designing MOF-based hybrid sensors at room temperature.

The development of high energy and power density sodium-ion batteries (SIBs) has attracted increasing interest in the last two decades due to the abundance and cost-effectiveness of sodium resources. Herein, this study developed a self-templating synthetic method to construct MoSe2nanosheets which were intercalated by ZnSe nanoparticles and were anchored on the in situ reduced graphene oxide layers. The thus-fabricated composites exhibited excellent Coulombic efficiency, a remarkable rate capability and an exceptionally long cycle life when being utilized as the anode in SIBs. Specifically, a reversible capacity of 265 mAh g−1was achieved at 20 A g−1, which could be maintained for 6400 cycles. At an ultra-high rate of 30.0 A g−1, the anode retained a capacity of 235 mAh g−1after 9500 cycles. Such a strong performance was attributed to its unique porous structure and synergistic interactions of multi-components. The underlying sodium storage mechanism was further investigated through various techniques such as in situ X-ray diffraction spectroscopy, the galvanostatic intermittent titration method, etc. Overall, this study illustrates the great potential of clad-structured multicomponent hybrids in developing high-performance SIBs.

In this paper, Au-modified Co 3 O 4 hollow nanospheres/graphene composites (Au-Co 3 O 4 /rGO) were synthesized for the first time through a novel “one-pot cooking” method at ambient temperature. The hollow nanospheres exhibited a particle size of approximately 10–15 nm, while the modified Au nanoparticles were about 4–5 nm in diameter. A high-efficiency and high response H 2 S gas sensor was constructed based on Au-Co 3 O 4 /rGO ternary composites. The effects of different Au modifying mass ratios on the H 2 S gas-sensitive performance of the composites were systematically investigated. At an operational temperature of 92 °C, the Au-Co 3 O 4 /rGO sensor, incorporating an Au loading mass ratio of 1.3 wt%, exhibited a response value of 175.4 for H 2 S at 100 ppm, a recovery time of 30 s, and a detection limit reaching as low as 10 ppb. This response was tripled compared to the undoped Co 3 O 4 /rGO sensor. At the same time, the H 2 S sensing mechanism by Au-Co 3 O 4 /rGO was discussed in detail.

The increasing utilization of hyodeoxycholic acid (HDCA) additives in animal feed has created a pressing need for reliable detection methods. This study presents a novel non-enzymatic electrochemical platform for specific detection of HDCA using liquid nanocomposites from potassium-coordinated cyclodextrin metal-organic frameworks (K-CD-MOFs) immobilized on reduced graphene oxide (rGO) substrates. Employing neutral red (NR) as the probe, rGO-K-CD-MOFs@NR exhibits outstanding sensing performance with a wide linear detection range (5.0–100.0 μM), a high sensitivity (0.10 μA·μM −1 ), and low detection limit (1.97 μM, S/N = 3). The sensor also demonstrates exceptional selectivity for HDCA and maintains stable performance for six months under low-temperature storage conditions. The excellent performance originates from the synergistic effect between rGO's excellent electron transfer capability and K-CD-MOFs' unique host-guest recognition properties. This work not only provides an effective solution for HDCA monitoring in feed products but also offers a promising strategy for developing advanced electrochemical sensors for food safety and quality control applications in the animal husbandry industry.

Nowadays, using the cheapness catalysts to alternate the noble metal catalysts are becoming the more popular trend than ever before. Carbon materials as an industrial product are getting the more attention due to their excellent stability and conductivity. Thus, searching a method to give the carbon materials electrocatalytic performance is a hot research topic in the world. Our studies attempt to construct the defects on the carbon bones to give the carbon materials hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) performance. Concretely, the topological defects as active sites were successfully constructed on the bones of graphene, through the N-doping and N-removing on the carbon bones of graphene oxide (GO). The defects were verified by the XRD, XPS and TEM measurements. The fabricated APS/NG-1100 shows the obviously enhanced electrocatalytic performance, compared with the APS/GO-800 that is not conducted N-doping and N-removing processes. For instance, in the 1M KOH medium, the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) overpotential of APS/NG-1100 is 332 mV with a Tafel slope of 38 mV/dec. Meanwhile, it is observed that the HER overpotential of APS/NG-1100 is 337 mV with a Tafel slope of 98 mV/dec in the 0.5 M H2SO4 medium. These results indicate that the constructing the defects on the bones of carbon materials is an effective way to expand the applications of carbon materials as catalysts in the HER field.

Although forward osmosis (FO) offers the advantage of high desalination capacity without additional driving forces, it faces two challenges: the trade-off effect and membrane fouling. Embedding 2D nanosheets into the membrane effectively enhances its properties by modulating the interlayer spacing and imparting catalytic functionality, providing a key strategy to address the outlined challenges. In this work, 2D nanomaterials with photocatalytic properties, specifically carbon nitride (gCN), were intercalated into reduced graphene oxide (rGO) laminates to prepare rGO@gCN composite FO membranes. Atomically 2D gCN nanosheets acted as nanospacers, increasing the interlayer spacing between rGO nanosheets and enhancing the membrane's surface hydrophilicity, thereby providing a direct water transport channel and reducing resistance to water transport. The rGO@gCN membrane exhibited optimal performance, with a water flux of 48.4 LMH (an 11-fold increase compared to the pristine rGO membrane), without sacrificing the rejection of divalent ions and organic dyes, thereby overcoming the constraints of the trade-off effect. Additionally, the rGO@gCN membrane demonstrated self-cleaning capabilities for methylene blue (MB) fouling on the surface during both static and dynamic photocatalytic performance tests. The rGO@gCN membrane maintained 70 % of the initial water flux even after 4 h FO filtration under visible light, and the MB-contaminated membrane could be self-cleaning to restore its original appearance and water permeability. Overall, this work provides a multifaceted strategy and valuable design insights for achieving high FO performance and enhanced resistance to membrane fouling in various potential applications of 2D nanomaterial-based FO membranes.

Melatonin (MT) is a hormone regulating the sleep-wake cycle and serves as a potential biomarker for various physiological and pathological conditions. Traditional MT detection methods, such as HPLC and MS, face challenges including complex processing, low sensitivity, and the inability to provide real-time monitoring, limiting their clinical applicability. Electrochemical sensors offer advantages like simplicity, high sensitivity, and real-time detection; however, issues such as insufficient selectivity, poor stability, and limited reproducibility in complex biological matrices persist. To address these challenges, we developed an Ab-MEL/AR/ITO electrochemical sensor by integrating AgNPs@RGO (AR) composites, synthesized using a dopamine in situ reduction method, with the MEL-1A-R (B-10) antibody (Ab-MEL) as a selective molecular recognition element for MT detection. The sensor exhibited a linear response to MT concentrations ranging from 0.01 to 1000 μM, with an exceptionally low limit of detection (LOD) of 0.0016 μM. It demonstrated excellent selectivity, maintaining performance in the presence of interferents like NaCl, glucose, and dopamine, and exhibited high reproducibility and long-term stability, with only a 5.68 % decrease in response after 28 days. The sensor achieved recovery rates of 98.10 % to 106.30 % in synthetic urine, human serum, and commercial MT capsules, underscoring its robustness and precision. By addressing the limitations of conventional methods, this Ab-MEL/AR/ITO sensor provides a highly sensitive, selective, and stable platform for MT detection, offering significant potential for clinical diagnostics and biomedical research applications.

Early detection of cancer is critical for reducing mortality and improving patient outcomes, yet it remains a challenge due to limitations in existing diagnostic methods. Alpha-fetoprotein (AFP), a glycoprotein predominantly produced during fetal development, has emerged as a vital biomarker for diagnosing cancers such as hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), germ cell tumours, and yolk sac tumours. However, conventional methods for AFP detection, including immunoassays and enzyme-linked techniques, face challenges such as high costs and limited sensitivity. Here, we have developed a novel label-free electrochemical aptasensor based on a reduced graphene oxide-gold nanoparticle-MXene composite (rGO-AuNPs@MXene). This hybrid material leverages the high conductivity and catalytic activity of AuNPs, the large surface area and stability of rGO, and the exceptional electrochemical properties of MXenes. The rGO-AuNPs@MXene based composite offers high sensitivity, excellent selectivity, and favorable biocompatibility for the detection of AFP. NH 2 -aptamers were immobilized onto the rGO-AuNPs@MXene-modified electrode, enabling precise AFP recognition through specific aptamer-target interactions. The aptasensor demonstrated a broad detection range (10 fg mL −1 to 1 μg mL −1 ), with an ultra-low limit of detection of 13.91 fg mL −1 (S/N = 3). It demonstrated excellent stability, with only a 3.80 % decrease in signal after 8 days of storage, and remarkable reproducibility, showing a relative standard deviation of 1.85 % across five electrodes. These findings emphasize the remarkable efficiency of the rGO-AuNPs@MXene composite in producing highly sensitive and reliable electrochemical aptasensors. This innovation underscores its substantial potential for advancing early cancer detection and improving clinical diagnosis.

In order to boost the photothermal conversion and solar evaporation efficiency of membrane, mixed cellulose ester (MCE) filter membranes was modified by reduced graphene oxide (rGO) and Fe 3 O 4 nanoparticles, and a novel rGO-Fe 3 O 4 -MCE membrane was developed. Firstly, the solvothermal synthesis process of hybrid material rGO-Fe 3 O 4 was presented, and then the preparation process of rGO-Fe 3 O 4 /MCE membrane was introduced. Effects of different rGO mass fractions, rGO-Fe 3 O 4 loadings and light intensity on the photothermal evaporation of the thin membrane were experimentally researched. Results indicated that rGO-Fe 3 O 4 /MCE membrane shows excellent sunlight absorption and photothermal conversion efficient owing to its fast water transport capability, the evaporation rate is 1.501 kg m −2 h −1 , and the solar vapor conversion efficiency is 89.69 %, which exceeds the conversion efficiency of most previous solar evaporators. The membrane desalination performance and durability study were also conducted. Cycling tests confirmed that the system is able to maintain stable performance for 20 cycles under the same lighting conditions. The novel rGO-Fe 3 O 4 /MCE membrane of this paper has great potential application value owing to its great photothermal conversion efficiency, stable mechanical properties, cost-effectiveness, simple preparation process, and strong reusability.

The current study uses the ionic liquid (IL) 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium hexafluorophosphate, also known as BMIM-PF 6 , as a stabilizing agent to synthesize a bismuth oxide/ionic liquid/reduced graphene oxide (Bi 2 O 3 /IL/rGO) hybrid nanomaterial. A range of techniques, including scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), and UV-visible spectroscopy, were used to characterize the synthesized Bi 2 O 3 /IL/rGO nanocomposite. XRD confirmed that the composite was crystalline, and FTIR analysis suggested the presence of certain functional groups. The main elements oxygen, carbon, and bismuth were confirmed by EDX analysis, and SEM imaging showed an exfoliated and detached morphology. The synthesized nanocomposite was used to modify a glassy carbon electrode to develop a sensor for the detection of lead (Pb 2+ ). The fabricated sensor was characterized using electrochemical impendence spectroscopy (EIS) and cyclic voltammetry (CV). The results indicated that the Bi 2 O 3 /IL/rGO/GCE was more conductive, having a charge transfer resistance ( R ct ) of 428.5 Ω compared to 1870 Ω for the bare electrode. The sensor has a low detection limit of 0.001 μM and a quantification limit of 0.003 μM. When tested on water and soil samples, the sensor was confirmed to have acceptable recovery rates, ranging from 95% to 102%. In conclusion, our fabricated sensor has excellent performance in terms of ease, affordability, energy usage, and quick efficiency. The ionic liquid BMIM-PF 6 was used as stabilizing agent to synthesize Bi 2 O 3 /IL/rGO hybrid nanocomposite. A sensor was developed by modifying the surface of GCE by using hybrid nanocomposite for the detection of Pb 2+ in environmental samples.
