Metal active sites are anchored via the coordination effects between V/Co and terephthalic acid. • Co-doping constructs highly active Co-O-V catalytic sites, enhancing reaction activity. • PTA-derived oxygen-containing carbon layer mitigates metal site dissolution, improving stability. Developing highly active and stable catalysts for alkaline electrolytic water oxidation remains a challenge. Here, we prepared highly active, stable and conductive scale like microsheet Co-V 2 O 5 @C through Co-doping and coordination effect between terephthalic acid (PTA) and metal (V/Co). Specifically, Co-doping into V 2 O 5 lattice constructs highly active V-O-Co sites, thus reducing the adsorption energy of oxygen-containing intermediates. Meanwhile, the scale like microsheet Co-V 2 O 5 @C expose abundant active sites, enhancing oxygen evolution efficiency. The coordination effect between PTA and V/Co enables the in-situ formation of carbon layer on V 2 O 5 surface after carbonization, which effectively alleviates the dissolution of active sites and enhances stability. For conductive design, the Co introduction into V 2 O 5 can promote intrinsic conductivity. Moreover, under high-temperature carbonization, PTA evolves into oxygen-containing carbon layer, which boosts Co-V 2 O 5 @C overall conductivity and reaction kinetics. Based on above advantages, Co-V 2 O 5 @C displays good electrochemical performance in oxygen evolution reaction (OER) (low overpotential: 290 mV@10 mA cm −2 ; long stability: 50 h; small charge transfer resistance: 11.7 Ω). The electrocatalytic oxidation of 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) coupled with hydrogen evolution offers a sustainable approach for producing value-added chemicals and green hydrogen. Achieving both high current densities and long-term operational stability remains a significant challenge. A metal–organic framework (MOF)-structured Co–Ni(TCNQ)2·2H2O nanorod-array catalyst demonstrates exceptional activity and durability for HMF electrooxidation. This bimetallic framework achieves high current density up to 1000 mA cm−2, requiring only 1.72 V in 1.0 M KOH with 200 mM HMF, which significantly outperforms Ni(TCNQ)2·2H2O and highlights the strong promoting effect of cobalt incorporation. Nearly complete HMF conversion and high selectivity for 2,5-furandicarboxylic acid (FDCA) are observed, along with excellent recyclability under concentrated substrate conditions. Operando and ex situ analyses indicate that cobalt doping mitigates over-oxidation and the associated irreversible structural transformation of the nickel sites stabilizes a dynamic Ni2+/Ni3+ redox cycle, and enhances charge delocalization through the TCNQ ligand. These effects collectively prevent over-oxidation and ensure sustained catalytic turnover. Density functional theory calculations confirm that cobalt strengthens HMF adsorption and facilitates FDCA desorption, thereby coupling efficient substrate activation with effective product release. This dual thermodynamic modulation explains the reduced onset potential and increased current density. Thus, Co–Ni(TCNQ)2·2H2O serves as a robust, selective, and scalable electrocatalyst, linking mechanistic understanding to industrial-scale biomass upgrading and simultaneous hydrogen generation.

M-type strontium hexaferrites is a vital functional material , Co-Ti co-substitution is one of the most effective ways to regulate its performance to meet the desired requirements exactly. Herein, we report the synthesis, microstructure, permeability, magneto-thermal and magnetic properties of Co-Ti substituted SrM-based hexaferrites . FT-IR spectra and XPS survey confirm that hexagonal crystal structure is formed completely, which are correlate closely with the results of Rietveld refinement of XRD patterns . M ( T ) curves illustrate that T p decreases from 323 K to 276 K induced by the specific substitution. M ( H ) branches show M s increases slightly while H c decreases rapidly with increasing x , and the sample performs as soft magnetic properties when x ≥ 1.00. In addition, besides the imaginary permeability ( μ '') can be reduced obviously by substituting cobalt-titanium, the characteristics of low core loss ( P cv ) and high quality factor ( Q ) for the sample are performed thoroughly, indicating the excellent performance in the field of multilayer inductors.

The development of high-efficiency non-noble-metal catalysts for HCHO removal is of great significance in indoor air purification. Zeolitic imidazolate frameworks (ZIFs) are characterized by large specific surface areas, well-defined porous structures, and tunable electronic properties, making them suitable for constructing single-atom catalysts with adjustable coordination environments. In this study, three Co-ZIF materials with distinct morphologies were synthesized and subsequently pyrolyzed, yielding cobalt-based catalysts with varied coordination structures. Among these catalysts, the Co–N–C(F) primarily features atomically dispersed Co species coordinated with four N atoms, forming Co-N4 active sites. Theoretical calculations indicate that the Co-N4 coordination structure exhibits enhanced oxygen activation compared to metallic cobalt sites, which is crucial for the degradation of intermediate products in the oxidation of HCHO. The Co–N–C (F) catalyst demonstrates superior activity in HCHO oxidation to even most noble metal catalysts. During a 710 h continuous test at 15 °C, the catalyst maintained 100% HCHO removal efficiency without observable deactivation. Simulation experiments further confirmed its practical applicability, with the catalyst module able to degrade 1 ppm of HCHO to <0.07 ppm within 2 h at room temperature. This work provides valuable insights for the development of commercial nonprecious metal catalysts for HCHO oxidation.

In this study, an E-fenton oxidation system based on Co-N co-doped carbon nanotubes (Co-N-CNTs) was designed. The Co-N-CNTs system showed fast degradation efficiency and reusability for the degradation of rhodamine B (RhB). The XRD and SEM results showed that the Co-N co-doped carbon nanotubes with diameters ranging from 40 to 400 nm were successfully prepared. The E-Fenton degradation performance of Co-N-CNTs was investigated via CV, LSV and AC impedance spectroscopy. The yield of H2O2could reach 80 mg/L/h within 60 min, and the optimal voltage and preparation temperature for H2O2yield in this system was −0.7 V (vs. SCE) and 800 °C. For the target pollutant of RhB, the fast removal of RhB was obtained via the Co-N-CNTS/E-Fenton system (about 91% RhB degradation occurred during 60 min), and the •OH played a major role in the RhB degradation. When the Fe2+concentrations increased from 0.3 to 0.4 mM, the RhB degradation efficiency decreased from 91% to about 87%. The valence state of Co in the Co-N-C catalyst drove a Co2+/Co3+cycle, which ensured the catalyst had good E-Fenton degradation efficiency. This work provides new insight into the mechanism of an E-Fenton system with carbon-based catalysts for the efficient degradation of RhB.Keywords:carbon nanotubes;E-Fenton;rhodamine B;degradation;mechanism

Hydrodeoxygenation of furfural (FF) into 2-methylfuran (MF) is a significant biomass utilization route. However, designing efficient and stable non-noble metal catalyst is still a huge challenge. Herein, we reported the N, O co-doped carbon anchored with Co nanoparticles (Co-SFB) synthesized by employing the organic ligands with the target heteroatoms. Raman, electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR), electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) characterizations showed that the co-doping of N and O heteroatoms in the carbon support endows Co-SFB with enriched lone pair electrons, fast electron transfer ability, and strong metal-support interaction. These electronic properties resulted in strong FF adsorption as well as lower apparent reaction activation energy. At last, the obtained N, O co-doped Co/C catalyst showed excellent catalytic activity (nearly 100 mol% FF conversion and 94.6 mol% MF yield) and stability for in-situ dehydrogenation of FF into MF. This N, O co-doping strategy for the synthesis of highly efficient catalytic materials with controllable electronic state will provide an excellent opportunity to better understand the structure–function relationship.

In the field of electromagnetic wave (EMW) absorption, carbon matrix materials based on metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) have drawn more interest as a result of their outstanding advantages, such as porous structure, lightweight, controlled morphology, etc. However, how to broaden the effective absorption bandwidth [EAB; reflection loss (RL) ≤ −10 dB] is still a challenge. In this paper, large microsphere structures of a Co/C composite composed of small particle clusters were successfully prepared by the solvothermal method and annealing treatment. At a filling ratio of 40 wt %, the Co/C composite shows attractive microwave absorption (MA) performance after being annealed at 600 °C in an atmosphere of argon. With an EAB of 6.32 GHz (9.92–16.24 GHz) and a thickness of just 2.57 mm, the minimum RL can be attained at −54.55 dB. Most importantly, the EAB can attain 7.12 GHz (10.88–18.0 GHz) when the thickness is 2.38 mm, which is larger than that of the majority of MOF-derived composites. The superior MA performance is strongly related to excellent impedance matching and a higher attenuation constant. This study provides a simple strategy for synthesizing a MOF-derived Co/C composite with a wide EAB.

Glasses such as automobile windshields, mirrors, and lampshades are prone to fogging due to temperature changes, which affects the process of use and even jeopardizes safety. Hydrophilic films can prevent the glass surface from fogging by absorbing condensation droplets. However, the anti-fog film only lasts for a short period because it will gradually dissolve with the moisture increasing, which leads to image distortion. Herein, we propose a hydrophilic/hydrophobic coating to achieve longer anti-fog persistence. The strong interface bonding of the polymer is the key to improving the durability performance of the coating. It prevents interfacial failure and folding caused by fogging conditions. In this paper, a multifunctional coating with good anti-fog and anti-frost properties was prepared using butyl acrylate (BA), acrylic acid (AA) and 4-benzoylphenyl acrylate (BPA) as the polymer monomers . The light transmission of coated glass is up to 90 % even under harsh fogging conditions. The poly(AA- co -BA-co-BPA) can be firmly bonded with the plasma-treated glass plate, which greatly enhances the durability and water resistance of the coating. After being immersed in deionized water for 60 h at room temperature, the coated glass still has a certain anti-fog effect and the light transmittance is maintained at about 85 %. In addition, the anti-fog coating has excellent self-healing properties due to the fact that the carboxyl group in AA can generate hydrogen bonding , so that it can be healed within 15 s with the help of hot water after physical damage. This anti-fog coating has great potential for application in construction, shipbuilding and other industries.

High-performance asymmetric ceramic membranes have shown great potential in wastewater treatment. Nevertheless, high production cost, which results from expensive raw materials, high energy consumption, and complicated preparation process, hinders their large-scale production and application. Herein, a simple and cost-effective co-pressing and co-sintering method was proposed to prepare thin defect-free asymmetric ceramic membranes. This method overcomes the bottleneck of preparing thin asymmetric ceramic membrane by co-pressing. The membrane with a cornstarch content of 20 wt% and sintered at 1300 °C possessed large water permeance (3640 L·m −2 ·h −1 ·bar −1 ), high permeability (steady-state feed permeance > 1000 L·m −2 ·h −1 ·bar −1 ) and selectivity (rejection rate > 99.6%), as well as excellent oil fouling resistance and regeneration performance. The fouling mechanism of the membrane was in accord with cake filtration for the whole separation process (3 h), although multiple fouling mechanisms might occur simultaneously in the initial filtration stage. This study indicates that co-pressing and co-sintering is a quite promising method for fabricating high-performance and cost-effective ceramic membrane.

We report on the preparation of Co/N-NPC x/y with porous structure and excellent activation properties. The synthesis involves the preparation of Zn/Co-ZIF x and the carbonization of Zn/Co-ZIF x at a high temperature in an inert atmosphere. The volatilization of zinc during carbonization results in a porous structure, which is beneficial to the migration of pollutants. The sizes, specific surface areas, and pore size distribution of Co/N-NPC x/y can be achieved by tuning Zn/Co ratio. The calcination temperatures mainly affect the crystalline phase, crystallinity, and magnetic properties of the as-prepared materials. The effects of the as-prepared materials properties and activation conditions on the Rhodamine B (RhB) degradation by PMS activation were investigated. Overall, it exhibited superior catalytic activity in PMS activation, as evidenced by almost complete removal of RhB (0.020 mM, 100 mL) by using 5 mg/L Co/N-NPC 0.5/900 and 1.250 mM PMS within 30 min. Furthermore, it confirmed the participation of SO 4 •− , •OH, and 1 O 2 in the catalytic reaction, and both SO 4 •− and 1 O 2 were the main reactive oxygen species that play a major role.

Methanol electro-oxidation reaction (MOR) is the kernel of methanol fuel cell. When the multi-step microscopic transformations process of MOR couples and occurs on the same active site, undoubtedly it reduces the probability of reaction and increases the steric hindrance, resulting in slow reaction kinetics and degradation of catalytic performance. In order to decouple the dehydrogenation and CO oxidation in MOR, herein we synthesized the hierarchical catalyst (NiCo/N-TiO 2 @NaOH) with bifunctional spatial distribution, which displayed 73 mA cm −2 at the potential of 1.5 V (vs. RHE) and only 20 % degradation of performance after continuously electrolysis over 40,000 s. Based on analysis of mass transfer and electron transport in hierarchical structure, combining with in-situ mass spectrometry and theory calculation, the high MOR performance of NiCo/N-TiO 2 can be ascribed to the spatial decoupling the MOR reactions including dehydrogenation under synergic effect of Ni/Co and CO oxidation on N-TiO 2 film.

The growing problem of limited lithium resource reserves has resulted in increased attention and a corresponding surge in sodium-ion battery (SIB) research. However, SIBs have disadvantages, such as a short cycle life and low energy density. The lack of high capacity and long-cycle stability anode materials are important factors hindering the development of SIBs. In this study, hollow carbon nanospheres were nitrogen-doped, and the zeolitic imidazolate framework-67 was used as a precursor to synthesize cobalt-based layered double hydroxide using the hydrothermal method followed by synthesizing an NHCNS@CoSe 2 @C complex using calcination and carbon coating. In this design concept, the hollow-cavity structure of the carbon nanospheres provided shorter electron diffusion paths and increased stability; the introduction of nitrogen increased the number of defect sites and charge density of the porous carbon materials, which, with the transition metal selenide, enhanced the conductivity of the final product. The resulting carbon-supported anode material, NHCNS@CoSe 2 @C, had an initial stable discharge capacity of 465.6 mAh g − 1 at a current density of 0.1 A g − 1 and maintained a high capacity of 373.8 mAh g − 1 after 100 cycles. Moreover, it exhibited a high rate performance of 285.6 mAh g − 1 at a current density of 5 A g − 1 .
