Although various cations have been explored as a substitute for Pb2+ in CsPbX3 nanocrystals (NCs), there has been little research to study the influence of the doping methods on the doping results. Cu2+ is one such candidate as a transition metal with low toxicity, yet there are limited studies on Cu2+-doped CsPbX3 NCs, especially on the effect of the doping methods. Herein, Cu2+ was successfully doped into CsPbBr3 NCs with the replacement of Pb2+via a hot-injection method and postsynthetic cation-exchange reaction. Using the hot-injection method, the introduction of additional Cu2+ promoted the formation of CsPbBr3 nanoplates with a uniform thickness. The size of the CsPbBr3 nanoplates increased with the increase in the temperature. Differently, using the postsynthetic cation-exchange reaction, doping moderate Cu2+ ions into CsPbBr3 NCs evidently improved the PLQY, prolonged the PL lifetime, and decreased the non-radiative decay, resulting from an effective passivation of the surface defects on CsPbBr3 NCs. The different effect of Cu2+ was the outcome of how the CuBr2 interacted with the CsPbBr3 NCs in the different protocols. Our results should promote further research on the substitution of Pb2+ with other cations, providing effective protocols to prepare low-dimensional CsPbBr3 nanoplates with a uniform thickness and easily controlled lateral size, and can achieve an enhancement of the PLQY of CsPbBr3 NCs, which will benefit the further development of CsPbX3 in optoelectronic and other fields.

Herein, we report an approach to prepare Cu/Cu2−xS core/shell nanorods by in situ sulfidation of copper nanorods. Firstly, copper nanorods with tunable longitudinal surface plasmon resonances were synthesized by a seed-mediated method using Au nanoparticles as seeds. A convenient in situ sulfidation method was then applied to convert the outermost layer of Cu nanorods into Cu2−xS, to increase their stability and surface activity in photocatalytic applications. The thickness of Cu2−xS layer can be adjusted by controlling the amount of S source. The Cu/Cu2−xS core/shell nanorods exhibits two characteristic surface plasmon resonances located in visible and near-infrared regions, respectively. The photocatalytic performances of Cu nanorods and their derivatives were evaluated by measuring the degradation rate of methyl orange dyes. Compared with Cu nanorods, the Cu/Cu2−xS core/shell nanorods demonstrate more than a 13.6-fold enhancement in the degradation rate at 40 min. This work suggests a new direction for constructing derivative nanostructures of copper nanorods and exploring their applications. Keywords:Cu nanorods;sulfidation;degradation

A novel hemicyanine-based ratiometric fluorescent probe 3 for Cu 2+ was described. The probe exhibited fluorescence emission at 448 nm. Upon addition of Cu 2+ , the emission at 448 nm quenched and simultaneously generated a significant bathochromic shift of the emission maximum to 503 nm due to the Cu 2+ -triggered hydrolysis reaction of the picolinate moiety. Thus, a single-excitation, dual-emission ratiometric measurement with a large red shift in emission (Δ55 nm) and remarkable changes in the ratio (F 503nm /F 448nm ) of the emission intensity (R/R 0 up to 22-fold) could be established. Moreover, the probe exhibited a large Stokes shift, high sensitivity (detection limit of 1.1 nM), and high selectivity for Cu 2+ over other metal ions in complete aqueous solution.

To mitigate temperature-induced measurement inaccuracies in optical fiber sensors, a dual-channel surface plasmon resonance (SPR) sensor is proposed for trace-level Cu2+ detection with integrated temperature compensation capabilities. The SPR signal is generated through excitation by a silver film, and highly sensitive Cu2+ detection is achieved by modifying the fiber with chitosan (CS)/polyacrylic acid (PAA). Furthermore, by exploiting the modulation effect of a CeF3 thin film on the SPR dip, the temperature SPR signal and the Cu2+ detection SPR signal are separated. After coating with polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS), temperature sensing is achieved and the temperature effect on the Cu2+ detection channel is quantified. Subsequently, compensation is applied using the corresponding sensitivity matrix. Experimental results demonstrate maximum sensitivities of 0.346 nm/(μmol/L) for Cu2+ detection and 3.856 nm/°C for temperature measurement. Compared with other temperature-compensated sensors, this sensor exhibits a simpler structure, superior performance, and obviates the need for complex signal processing. Thus, this work provides a novel strategy for developing multi-parameter temperature-compensated optical fiber sensors.

This study employed Cibotium barometz (L.) J. Sm. as a carbon source and carbamide as a nitrogen source to conduct a straightforward one-step hydrothermal synthesis of nitrogen-doped carbon quantum dots (N-CQDs). The N-CQDs were fully characterized in terms of their morphological features, chemical constituents, and optical behaviors. The synthesized N-CQDs exhibited the highest fluorescence intensity with excitation and emission wavelengths set at 305 nm and 382 nm, respectively. Notably, copper ions (Cu 2+ ) could induce obvious fluorescence quenching of the N-CQDs, endowing the system with high sensitivity and selectivity. The limit of detection (LOD) for Cu 2+ ions was determined to be 3.52 µM within the linear range of 1–10 µM. The fluorescence lifetime of N-CQDs was shortened from 3.38 ns to 3.27 ns after adding Cu 2+ . The analysis shows that the N-CQDs were selective and sensitive to Cu 2+ due to the static quenching mechanism. Furthermore, this method was applied to analyze the content of Cu 2+ in actual samples with satisfying results. More importantly, studies in zebrafish embryos and Arabidopsis thaliana verified the biocompatibility of N-CQDs at low concentrations, allowing efficient in vivo bioimaging, while Cu 2+ co-exposure caused fluorescence reduction. A facile strategy for synthesizing N-CQDs from natural plant-derived precursors is proposed in this work, revealing their great prospects as both fluorescent probes and bioimaging agents. The ethnic minority villages in Qiandongnan, Guizhou, are renowned for a large number of traditional stilted wooden buildings, which hold significant ethnic characteristics and cultural value. However, the widespread use of Chinese fir ( Cunninghamia lanceolata ) as construction material poses significant fire safety challenges due to its inherent combustibility, highlighting the need for effective flame-retardant treatments for this species of timber. This study proposed a green and facile flame-retardant strategy based on a supramolecular chelated flame retardant (Cu-AP), assembled from aminotris (methylenephosphonic acid) (ATMP), piperazine (PI), and Cu 2+ . Modified wood was prepared via a vacuum impregnation process. This method significantly enhanced flame retardancy at low concentrations and short treatment times. The introduction of Cu 2+ promoted rapid char formation and aromatization, improving thermal stability and smoke suppression. The treated wood achieved a UL-94 V-0 rating, an increased limiting oxygen index (LOI) of 29.6%, and a peak heat release rate reduction of over 65% in cone calorimetry. This work presented a practical modification approach and material solution for fire protection of traditional stilted wooden buildings with regional characteristics.

Transition metals such as Fe 3+ and Cu 2+ are essential for fundamental biological processes, yet their excess can trigger diverse symptoms and diseases. Therefore, precise detection of Fe 3+ /Cu 2+ via real-time and visual analytical techniques is urgently required. In this work, cellulose-based fluorescent material was designed via Steglich esterification by grafting perylene-3,4,9,10-tetracarboxylic acid (PTCA) onto cellulose acetate (CA) backbone. The resulting materials (CA-PTCA) exhibited bright yellow fluorescence, which was quenched in the presence of Fe 3+ /Cu 2+ , providing a highly sensitive detection platform. The fluorescence quenching by Fe 3+ occurs via a photoinduced electron transfer (PET) mechanism with CA-PTCA, while that by Cu 2+ proceeds through coordination. Moreover, the excellent processability of the CA backbone enables CA-PTCA to be fabricated into diverse material forms, including inks, coatings, films, aerogels, and fibers, all of which retain outstanding fluorescence properties. This work highlights the potential of cellulose-based fluorescent materials for multifunctional applications in sensing and information encryption.

To address the challenges of insufficient near-infrared light utilization and rapid charge recombination in traditional photocatalysts, this study designed and synthesized a hollow-structured Cu 2−x S@ZnIn 2 S 4 S-scheme heterojunction with synergistic photothermal-photocatalytic properties. The synergistic mechanism between plasmonic photothermal effects and heterojunction charge-transfer in broad-spectrum catalysis was systematically elucidated. Experimental results demonstrated that the composite achieved a hydrogen evolution rate of 32.58 mmol g −1 h −1 under AM 1.5G irradiation without cooling water (WCW), which is 3.00 times that of pure ZnIn 2 S 4 . Moreover, the solution temperature reached 47.4 °C under near-infrared (NIR) illumination. Theoretical analysis revealed that the localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) of Cu 2−x S extended light absorption into the NIR region and generated a photothermal effect. Meanwhile, the S-scheme band alignment, together with multiple light scattering induced by the hollow structure, synergistically optimized carrier separation and promoted directional charge migration. The catalyst exhibited excellent stability over 750 min and demonstrated measurable NIR-driven activity at wavelengths above 800 nm. By coupling band-engineering with photothermal conversion, this work provided a theoretical foundation and a material prototype for designing efficient full-spectrum solar-to‑hydrogen conversion systems, showing clear application potential in photothermal-assisted artificial photosynthesis.

Reactive oxygen species (ROS)-based nanodynamic therapy is emerging as a promising approach for tumor treatment, particularly in eliciting immune responses for tumor immunotherapy. Nevertheless, the complex tumor microenvironment (TME) and the constraints of current sensitizers substantially compromise therapeutic efficacy. To address these challenges, we developed a rationally designed nanoplatform (LP/CuTT) through lipoic acid-modified orchestrated Cu²⁺-coordinated tetracycline-porphyrin self-assembly, to precisely remodel the immunosuppressive TME while potentiating antitumor immunotherapy via a novel photo-enhanced chemodynamic therapy (CDT) strategy. In vitro studies demonstrated that LP/CuTT-mediated photo-enhanced CDT effectively promoted concurrent apoptosis and cuproptosis in B16-F10 melanoma cells, coupled with robust induction of immunogenic cell death (ICD). Mechanistic investigations revealed that LP/CuTT drives macrophage polarization from tumor-promoting M2 to antitumor M1 phenotypes while promoting dendritic cell (DC) maturation, thereby orchestrating potent antitumor immune responses. In vivo evaluations showed preferential tumor accumulation of LP/CuTT, correlating with substantial ROS generation at tumor sites and remarkable therapeutic outcomes. Quantitative assessments further demonstrated elevated M1 macrophage infiltration in both tumor and splenic tissues, accompanied by enhanced CD8+ and CD4+ T cell recruitment. These findings provide key insights into developing orchestrated metal-coordinated nanotherapeutics by repurposing existing therapeutic agents, enabling the design of multifunctional systems that integrate efficient chemodynamic activity, TME remodeling, and immune activation for effective nanodynamic therapy.

Monitoring of heavy metals in the environment is critical to reduce health risks. The establishment of a simple and effective electrochemical sensor with high sensitivity and a wide linear range is required for the determination of heavy metal ions. This study reports a new nanocomposite of MAX-phase Ti3AlC2 and graphene oxide (GO) for the electrochemical sensing of cadmium and copper ions. The nanocomposite was synthesized by a modified mixture method and characterized using various physicochemical characterization techniques. XRD patterns confirmed a highly crystalline, phase-pure structure, and SEM analysis revealed the rough and porous surface morphology of the Ti3AlC2@GO nanocomposite. The elemental composition and XPS spectra of the nanocomposite confirmed the successful integration of MAX-phase Ti3AlC2 with GO. The nanocomposite was modified onto a glassy carbon electrode (GCE) using a simple drop-casting procedure. The electrochemical activity of the Ti3AlC2@GO/GCE was analyzed by cyclic voltammetry with differential pulse anodic stripping voltammetry (DPASV) for metal ion analysis. The results indicated that the presence of the Ti3AlC2@GO nanocomposite on the GCE enhanced the sensitivity and selectivity for Cd2+ and Cu2+ analysis. The sensor demonstrated a wide linear range from 0.1 to 100.0 µM with low detection limits of 0.055 µM for Cd2+ and 0.059 µM for Cu2+. The Ti3AlC2@GO/GCE showed excellent stability, sensitivity, selectivity, and reproducibility, making it a promising platform for the reliable electrochemical detection of Cd2+ and Cu2+ in environmental monitoring applications.

Developing sustainable and molecularly selective adsorbents for heavy-metal removal remains a critical challenge in water purification. Herein, we report a green molecular-engineering approach for fabricating aza-crown ether functionalized sodium alginate aerogels (ACSA) capable of highly selective Cu 2+ capture. The aerogels were synthesized via saccharide-ring oxidation, Cu 2+ -templated self-assembly, and reductive amination, enabling the covalent integration of aza-crown ether motifs within a hierarchically porous biopolymer matrix. Structural analyses (FTIR, 13 C NMR, XPS, SEM, TGA) confirmed the in situ formation of macrocyclic N/O coordination sites. Owing to their interconnected porosity and chemically stable framework, ACSA exhibited rapid sorption kinetics following a pseudo-second-order model (R 2 = 0.999) and a Langmuir maximum adsorption capacity of 150.82 mg·g −1 . The material displayed remarkable Cu 2+ selectivity over Zn 2+ , Cd 2+ , and Ni 2+ , arising from the precise alignment between Cu 2+ ionic radius (0.73 Å) and crown-cavity dimensions, synergistic N/O chelation, and Jahn-Teller stabilization. Over four regeneration cycles, ACSA retained more than 80% of its original adsorption capacity, confirming excellent durability and reusability. This saccharide-ring modification strategy eliminates crown-ether leaching and weak anchoring, offering a scalable and environmentally benign route to bio-based adsorbents that combine molecular recognition with structural stability for efficient Cu 2+ remediation and beyond.

A flexible electrochemical sensor with high sensitivity and specificity is developed using gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) and a reduced graphene oxide/molybdenum disulfide (rGo–MoS2) composite modified screen printed carbon electrode (SPCE), with L-cysteine (L-Cys) as a probe for Cu2+ target recognition. Owing to the AuNPs/rGo–MoS2, the electron transference ability is improved by increasing the specific surface area of the working electrode, and a high sensitivity is achieved. Meanwhile, the bidentate chelation of L-Cys to Cu2+ contributes to a good selectivity. Using differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) for spiked standard Cu2+, the test results show a dynamic range from 0.1 μM to 100 μM, a detection limit of 0.020 μM, and a high sensitivity of 1.190 μA μM−1. Furthermore, detection in both environmental water and human plasma samples demonstrates a wide applicability of this sensor in various matrices, and an excellent feasibility for environmental and clinical applications.
