With the aim of enhancing the electrochemical kinetics and capacity of the TiO2 electrode for Na ion batteries (NIBs), we have designed a hybrid material of carbon-coated TiO2 mesocrystals anchored on reduced graphene oxide (TiO2@C-rGO). Such hybrid nanostructures are fabricated through a facile one-step route including in situ growth of oriented self-assembly of TiO2 mesocrystals on GO. TiO2@C-rGO possesses a very large surface area (279 m2 g–1), mesoporous nature, and single-crystal-like structure. It is also found that the capacity of TiO2 electrode for NIBs could be improved by carbon coating at a low current rate, but pure TiO2 shows better rate performance than that of TiO2@C. Remarkably, the enhanced electrochemical kinetics and large capacity can be simultaneously achieved by designing hybrid material. The hybrid nanostructures exhibit a highly reversible capacity of 300 mAh g–1 at 100 mA g–1, superior rate capability, and long-term cycling stability (a stable capacity of 159 mAh g–1 can be maintained after 1000 cycles at 1 A g–1). The superior Na ion storage of TiO2@C-rGO is largely ascribed to the robust architecture of well-dispersed carbon-coated mesoporous TiO2 mesocrystals anchored on conductive graphene network, leading to enhanced electrochemical kinetics and offering enough active sites for the Na ion to locate.

It is well known that efficient charge separation is a crucial factor for the enhancement of photocatalytic activity for hydrogen evolution, and the internal electric field is commonly designed to improve charge separation. The microstructure of a catalyst has a significant effect on the photocatalytic and photoelectrochemical (PEC) performance. Herein, two samples are engineered with similar morphology but different crystal structures. Small wurtzite (WZ)/zinc blende (ZB) -Cd0.6Zn0.4S nanorods are featured with dense type-II homojunctions. By utilizing the excellent thermal conductivity of graphene to eliminate thermal fluctuations, WZ-Cd0.6Zn0.4S/RGO is obtained by anchoring Cd0.6Zn0.4S nanorods on the graphene sheets. The elongated WZ/ZB-Cd0.6Zn0.4S nanorods with an internal electric field formed by the heterophase homojunction greatly improve the photocatalytic hydrogen production rate to 36.33 mmol h−1 g−1, much higher than that of WZ-Cd0.6Zn0.4S-RGO. On the contrary, WZ-Cd0.6Zn0.4S/RGO shows superior photoelectrochemical performance under an external electric field, benefiting from the excellent electric conduction and the 2D network of RGO as electron transportation channels. The study strategy and synthetic route for the Cd0.6Zn0.4S nanorods with a homojunction and a homogenous structure in our work may open up new avenues for the fabrication of other semiconductor materials with distinctive photocatalytic and PEC applications.

Due to the pressing need for electromagnetic interference and radar stealth, microwave absorbers have garnered considerable attention. Through chemical co-precipitation and in-situ polymerization, we synthesize a ternary composite containing reduced graphene oxide , Fe 3 O 4 with flower-like nanostructures , and polyaniline (PANI). To fine-tune the impedance matching and corrosion resistance of composite materials, the conductive PANI was densely coated on the surface of reduced graphene oxide (rGO)/flower-like Fe 3 O 4 (f-Fe 3 O 4 ). The ternary composite exhibits excellent microwave absorption performance. In comparison to rGO/f-Fe 3 O 4 (1:10), which has a minimum reflection loss (RL min ) of −32.81 dB at 10.61 GHz and a 5.15 GHz effective absorption bandwidth (EAB) (7.34–12.49 GHz), rGO/f-Fe 3 O 4 (1:10)@PANI has an RL min of −46.49 dB at 9.93 GHz with a 2.5 mm thickness and an EAB of 4.25 (8.90–13.15 GHz). The results indicate that the addition of the PANI anticorrosion coating layer has no discernible effect on the final microwave absorption performance. This article also examines the effect of rGO weight ratio on microwave absorbing properties. When the rGO content is too high, the impedance will be mismatched, while the too low rGO content will affect the absorbing performance. This research work has contributed to our present understanding of the structure design and composition control of microwave absorbers.

Solar-driven water evaporation assisted by photothermal membranes is considered as one of the sustainable and cost-effective strategies for pure water generation and wastewater treatment. Herein, we report a facile but effective approach to improve the photothermal performance by combining 2D reduced graphene oxide (rGO) and 1D multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs), which have different nanomorphologies. The photothermal layer can be easily deposited on different substrate materials via simple vacuum assistance. Such a composite photothermal layer shows a rough surface with a controllable nano-structure, which can thus optimize solar light harvesting. On the other hand, the formation of a loose internal porous structure and suitable wettability ensure water transport inside the photothermal layer during evaporation. The surface temperature reaches as high as 78 °C even under one sun irradiation (1 kW m−2), which is 10 °C higher than the result of pure rGO membranes. When loaded on a PVDF substrate, the rGO–MWCNT based membrane is flexible and shows an obvious improvement in the evaporation rate, about 79.0% and 8.9% higher than those of pure rGO and MWCNT membranes, respectively. The solar thermal conversion efficiency can reach up to 80.4% without any extra accessory for thermal management. Based on our results, the nanocomposite strategy is facile and effective for the development of novel photothermal membranes for high-efficiency evaporation, and contributes to the widespread application in the fields of desalination and wastewater treatment.

Reduced graphite oxide (rGO) was synthesized from graphene oxide (GO) by reduction process with the aid of ascorbic acid. GO was synthesized from graphite precursor by modified Hummers method. The prepared materials were characterized in terms of surface morphology, structure, functional group, and elemental compositions by different methods such as SEM/EDS, XRD, FT-IR, Raman, and BET. rGO/K2S2O8 system was used to study the impact of different reaction parameters on the degradation of tetracycline in water. The results showed that GO and rGO materials were successfully synthesized, with high purity. The prepared rGO promoted the degradation of tetracycline by sulphate radicals generated from K2S2O8 with an efficiency of two-fold higher than sole K2S2O8. More than 95% of 5 mg l−1 tetracycline were removed by rGO/K2S2O8 system after 40 min of reaction. The catalytic performance of rGO/K2S2O system in the degradation of tetracycline was dependent on pH of the solution, catalyst loading, tetracycline initial concentration, and persulfate concentration. The optimal conditions for the degradation of tetracycline in water were at pH10, with 5 mg l−1 tetracycline initial concentration, 20 mg l−1 of rGO, and 0.2 mM persulfate added. The catalytic performance of the system showed relatively stable, with about 75% tetracycline in solution were removed after 3 cycles. The degradation of tetracycline by rGO/K2S2O8 system followed the pseudo-first order kinetics, with a typical coefficient of determination above 0.95 for all experimental conditions.

Developing ultralight aerogels that simultaneously achieve efficient electromagnetic (EM) wave absorption and multifunctionality remains challenging because of the difficulty in synergistically regulating interfacial polarization, conductive networks, and hierarchical porous structures. In this work, an in-situ growth strategy is proposed to construct interface-rich YbCoO 3 /reduced graphene oxide (rGO) aerogels, in which pentagonal YbCoO 3 units are grown in-situ and anchored within a three-dimensional (3D) rGO framework. This architecture enables precise tuning of the heterointerface density, conductive pathways, and porosity, thereby optimizing impedance matching and enhancing EM attenuation. Moreover, the introduction of Yb 3+ ions with localized 4 f electrons induces strong spin-orbit coupling and magnetic anisotropy, promoting high-frequency magnetic resonance and improving magnetic loss. Therefore, the optimized YbCoO 3 /rGO aerogel (Ybr-3 sample) exhibits a remarkable minimum reflection loss (RL min ) of −62.4 dB at 3.2 mm and an ultrawide effective absorption bandwidth (EAB) of 10.0 GHz (8–18 GHz) at a thickness of 2.2 mm while maintaining an ultralow density of 0.0047 g/cm 3 and a low filler content of 5 wt%. Additionally, a significant reduction in the radar cross-section (∼40 dB m 2 ) confirms its superior EM wave attenuation capability. The hierarchical porous structure also imparts multifunctionality, including thermal insulation and efficient dye removal. Mechanistic studies reveal that the enhanced performance arises from the synergistic effects of interfacial polarization, conductive loss, magnetic resonance, and multiple scattering, which are further strengthened by 4 f -3 d electron interactions and interface-rich porosity. This work demonstrates that integrating in situ-growth-induced structural regulation with rare-earth electronic modulation provides an effective pathway for designing ultralight materials with broadband EM wave absorption and multifunctional properties. An interface-rich YbCoO 3 /rGO aerogel was constructed via an in-situ growth strategy, which promotes strong interfacial coupling and enables broadband microwave absorption with multifunctional integration. With the rapid advancement of electronic devices, electromagnetic
radiation has increasingly caused environmental interference, thereby
stimulating the development of flexible and wearable electromagnetic
interference (EMI) shielding materials. However, it remains challenging
to achieve EMI shielding textiles that simultaneously possess facile
fabrication, high shielding efficiency, and excellent durability.
Herein, a multilevel composite conductive network composed of reduced
graphene oxide (rGO) and poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene):poly(styrenesulfonate)
(PEDOT:PSS) was successfully constructed on silk fabric (SF) via a
layer-by-layer self-assembly strategy, resulting in a flexible EMI
shielding fabric (SF-PEDOT:PSS-rGO). Specifically, PEDOT:PSS formed
a uniform conductive coating through in situ polymerization, while
rGO further established a continuous conductive network and strengthened
the interfacial interactions among the different components. Benefiting
from the synergistic effect conductive network and interfacil interactions
among PEDOT:PSS, rGO, and SF, the resulting textile exhibited outstanding
EMI shielding performance with a maximum shielding efficiency of approximately
80%. Moreover, the fabric demonstrated excellent durability, retaining
over 80% of its initial shielding efficiency after 30 washing cycles,
while maintaining stable surface resistance and EMI shielding performance
during repeated folding and tape-peeling tests. This study provides
an effective strategy for constructing durable multilevel conductive
networks on textile substrates and offers valuable guidance for the
development of high-performance wearable EMI shielding materials.

Ammonia-assisted high-temperature reduction is exploited to create ultrathin (23.7 µm) MXene/reduced graphene oxide/Ni (MXene/rGO/Ni) composite films in which monodisperse metallic Ni nanoparticles are nanosoldered between conductive nanosheets. The single-step protocol simultaneously deoxygenates graphene oxide (GO), restores the MXene basal plane, and reduces Ni 2+ , generating an intact yet flexible layered scaffold with a through-plane electrical conductivity of 3.3 × 10 3 S m −1 and sheet resistance as low as 4.5 Ω sq −1 . The reconstructed heterointerfaces supply abundant dipole polarization centers and magnetic dissipation sites, endowing the film with an X-band electromagnetic interference shielding effectiveness (EMI SE) of 35.1 dB that operates through a synergistic reflection absorption mechanism (reflection coefficient R ≈ 0.9, absorption shielding effectiveness SE A ≈ 24.9 dB). Benefiting from the dense conductive network, the film enables efficient photothermal conversion and delivers linearly tunable photothermal response with excellent cycling stability. Mechanical tensile tests give an ultimate strength of 7.4 MPa, Young's modulus of 0.97 GPa, and toughness of 31.19 KJ m −3 for rMG/Ni-600 films. The aqueous fabrication route and excellent batch-to-batch reproducibility highlight the reliability of MXene/rGO/Ni homogeneous layers as lightweight, multifunctional shields for flexible electronics and high-temperature photothermal-management platforms.

Electrocatalytic oxidation of 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) into 2,5-furandicarboxylate (FDCA) has attracted great attention due to its potential for producing degradable plastics. But, HMF electrooxidation still faces challenges such as high overpotentials and sluggish kinetics. Meanwhile, H2 evolution at the cathode is less cost-effective than cathodic reactions producing valuable chemicals. In view of this, a MOF-derived CoFeP cube anchored on rGO-encapsulated nickel foam (NF) via a facile wet-chemical method is reported. The CoFeP–rGO catalyst delivers a low potential of 1.38 V at a current density of 100 mA cm−2 in 1 M KOH containing 10 mM HMF, achieving ∼100% conversion, a 96% yield of FDCA, and 100% Faraday efficiency (FE). It acts as a bifunctional catalyst, demonstrating electrocatalytic reduction of nitrobenzene (NB) at low overpotential with 91% conversion. In the proposed mechanism, the CoFeP–rGO interface is proved to play a crucial role in increasing the catalytic activity via promoting dispersion of the CoFeP nanocrystals on the substrate and accelerating the electron transfer rate across the interface.

Pd-based catalysts play a pivotal role in nitroaromatic hydrogenation for fine chemical synthesis, yet their intrinsic overactivity often undermines target selectivity. In this study, we develop a highly efficient and magnetically recoverable Pd/Fe3O4–rGO catalyst for nitroaromatic hydrogenation through dual-support interfacial engineering, realized by precisely anchoring Pd nanoparticles at the heterojunctions of ferrosoferric oxide and reduced graphene oxide (Fe3O4–rGO). The dual-support modulation effect not only ensures uniform Pd distribution via strong interfacial interaction but also drives directional charge transfer from Pd to the Fe3O4–rGO composite support, synergistically enhancing nitro group adsorption and optimizing H2 dissociation kinetics. The prepared Pd/Fe3O4–rGO catalyst achieves exceptional catalytic performance with 99% conversion and >97% selectivity for the chemoselective hydrogenation of diverse nitroaromatics under mild conditions while maintaining remarkable activity/selectivity over multiple cycles. Notably, the integrated Fe3O4 component facilitates efficient magnetic separation (<2 min), demonstrating industrial viability for continuous processes. This work provides a rational dual-support strategy that simultaneously regulates spatial configuration and electronic states of active sites to overcome the activity-selectivity trade-off in hydrogenation catalysis.

Graphene, due to its unique mechanical properties, thermal conductivity and electrical conductivity, is considered as a reinforcement for metal materials. However, there are still issues with graphene aggregation and weak bonding at the graphene/metal interface. In this study, in-situ reduction techniques by nascent hydrogen was used to reduce graphene oxide (GO), and reduced graphene oxide (rGO) coated the Al powder to prepare composite powder. The composite powder was pre-shaped into blocks by hot-press sintering and the interface bonding issue of rGO/Al was improved by multi-pass rolling processes. Raman spectroscopy and XPS were used to analyze the reduction of GO. SEM, HRTEM and EBSD were used to analyze the composition, structure, and morphology of composites. The mechanical properties of the composite materials were studied. The results showed that GO was reduced to that almost all oxygen-containing groups were removed and uniformly dispersed in the Al matrix. The microstructure of the composites was dense, with good metallurgical bonding, and no apparent defects or porosity. When the loading amount is below 0.20 wt%, the ultimate tensile strength ( UTS ), yield strength ( YS ), and Young's modulus ( E ) were increasing along with the increased rGO content. When the addition amount was 0.20 wt%, UTS (147.67 MPa), YS (126.83 MPa), and E (36506.37 MPa), of the rGO/Al composites increased by 51.89 %, 37.87 %, and 94.48 %, compared to pure Al produced using the same process.

TEA presents substantial risks to environmental safety and human health. Thus, developing a highly efficient and precise gas sensor for TEA holds considerable practical value. In this study, In 2 O 3 /rGO heterostructures are constructed to investigate its sensing performance toward TEA. Characterization results demonstrate that In 2 O 3 nanocubes are uniformly deposited on the rGO surface, forming a unique heterostructure. The pure In 2 O 3 sensor exhibits a response of 24.04 to 100 ppm TEA gas at 280 °C. By contrast, the In 2 O 3 /rGO-0.5 % sensor has a response as high as 46.15 under the same testing conditions, which is 1.92 times that of pure In 2 O 3 sensor. Moreover, the synergistic effects between rGO and In 2 O 3 endow the heterostructure with superior long-term stability and reproducibility compared to that of pure In 2 O 3 . These results suggest that In 2 O 3 /rGO heterostructures represent potential candidates for next-generation TEA gas sensors.
