Magnetic fibrous membrane used to generate heat under the alternating magnetic field (AMF) has attracted wide attention due to their application in magnetic hyperthermia. However, there is not magnetic fibrous membrane prepared by melt electrospinning (e-spinning) which is a solvent-free, bio-friendly technology. In this work, polycaprolactone (PCL)/Fe 3 O 4 fiber membrane was prepared by melt e-spinning and using homemade self-powered portable melt e-spinning apparatus. The hand-held melt e-spinning apparatus has a weight of about 450 g and a precise size of 24 cm in length, 6 cm in thickness and 13 cm in height, which is more portable for widely using in the medical field. The PCL/Fe 3 O 4 composite fibers with diameters of 4–17 μm, are very uniform. In addition, the magnetic composite fiber membrane has excellent heating efficiency and thermal cycling characteristics. The results indicated that self-powered portable melt e-spinning apparatus and PCL/Fe 3 O 4 fiber membrane may provide an attractive way for hyperthermia therapy.

Nanoparticle-assisted microwave heating of heavy oil has the advantages of fast temperature rise and high thermal efficiency. Compared with traditional heating methods, it can reduce viscosity in a shorter time. In addition, the heavy components in the heavy oil are cracked into light components at high temperatures (this high temperature cannot be reached by conventional heating methods). This process is irreversible and avoids the problem of viscosity recovery of heavy oil after the temperature is reduced. Through absorbing microwave heating experiments, study the effect of nanoparticles on the improvement of the ability of heavy oil to absorb waves and raise temperature; through the heavy oil upgrading experiment and the four-component analysis experiment, the effect of adding hydrogen donor to assist microwave on the viscosity reduction of heavy oil upgrading by nanoparticles was studied, and the problem of viscosity recovery was determined; Through the gravity drainage experiment, the mechanism of nanoparticle-assisted microwave to improve the recovery of heavy oil is studied, and the influence of water content, nanocatalyst, and microwave power on the production of drainage is analyzed. The results show that nanoparticles can improve the wave absorption and heating capacity of heavy oil, and adding 0.6 wt% of nanomagnetic iron oxide catalyst can increase the heating rate of heavy oil in microwave by 60.6%; nanoparticle-assisted microwave heating method can effectively upgrade heavy oil and reduce viscosity. The experimental conditions are 2 wt% tetralin mass concentration, 0.5 wt% nano-Fe3O4 particle mass concentration, microwave heating time 50-60 min, and microwave power 539 W. Under this experimental condition, the viscosity is reduced by 40%. This method has viscosity recovery problems, but final viscosity reduction effect is still very significant. Obtaining the mechanism of nanoparticle-assisted microwave to enhance oil recovery, one of which is that nanoparticles improve the wave absorption and heating capacity of heavy oil and increase the heating speed of heavy oil; the second is that the nanoparticles form local high temperature under the action of microwave, which catalyzes the hydrocracking reaction between the heavy components in the heavy oil and the hydrogen donor, upgrading and reducing the viscosity of the heavy oil, and accelerating the production of heavy oil.

Iron oxide nanoparticles can induce cell death due to the ferroptosis mechanism, showing a great potential for cancer therapy. Here, we synthesized different-sized iron oxide nanoparticles (2–100 nm) to investigate their antitumor effect and toxicity mechanism. It was found that ultrasmall nanoparticles (< ∼5 nm) could accumulate in nucleus and were more efficient in triggering the generation of •OH than larger nanoparticles due to the quicker release of Fe2+, thus exhibiting more remarkable cytotoxicity. Nevertheless, 10 nm iron oxide nanoparticles group displayed the best antitumor effect in vivo. We studied the in vivo and intratumoral biodistribution of the nanoparticles and found that the therapeutic effects were related to both the tumoral accumulation and intratumoral distribution of nanoparticles. This work indicates the appropriate size of Fe3O4 NPs for cancer treatment and illustrates the possible factors that influence the therapeutic effect, suggesting the great potential of iron oxide in clinical application.

In this study, a facile and efficient approach was proposed for fabricating magnetically separable core-shell structured nanocomposites consisting of a magnetic Fe 3 O 4 core, a mesoporous ZrO 2 (mZrO 2 ) interlayer and an outer Ag nanoparticles shell using a sol-gel process and a wet chemistry method at ambient condition, and the hydrothermal treatment . The resulting Fe 3 O 4 /mZrO 2 /Ag nanocomposites were analyzed by TEM and SEM images, XPS , EDX and XRD spectra. Their photocatalytic activity was examined for the degradation of methylene blue under UV light . The effect of initial concentration, catalyst dosage and pH value was investigated and the results were discussed. Fe 3 O 4 /mZrO 2 /Ag nanocomposites showed higher photocatalytic activity, compared with Fe 3 O 4 /mZrO 2 composites. The PL analysis revealed Fe 3 O 4 /mZrO 2 composites possessed the enhanced separation efficiency of electron-hole pairs in comparison with Fe 3 O 4 /mZrO 2 . Moreover, the Fe 3 O 4 /mZrO 2 /Ag nanocomposites can be easily separated and recycled with an external magnetic field, and so they present remarkable reusability.

Sensors for rapid and reliable detection of biomolecules are crucial for clinical medical diagnoses. Here, a rapid, ultra-sensitive, magnetic-assisted biosensor based on resonance Raman scattering at MoS 2 @Fe 3 O 4 composite nanoflowers is presented. Raman shifts and X-ray photoelectron spectra indicated that the composite was formed via Fe–S covalent bonds. Convenient magnetic separations could be performed because of the superparamagnetic Fe 3 O 4 nanoparticles. MoS 2 E 1 2g and A 1g Raman peaks were used as probe signals for anti-interference immunoassays. The probe unit of the immunoassay also included goat anti-human IgG molecules that were used as the target analyte. Au substrates coupled with the goat anti-human IgG were used as capture units to form sandwich biosensors. Because of the magnetic enrichment, the detection limit was improved by three orders-of-magnitude and the detection time was reduced from 1.5 h to 1 min. Sandwich biosensors using MoS 2 @Fe 3 O 4 nanoflowers as Raman probes could be very promising sensors for proteins, antigens, and other immunogenic biopolymers, as well as for corpuscular viruses and cells.

Low-frequency microwave absorbing materials have been challenging for many years. Three-dimensional dielectric/magnetic porous materials are beneficial for improving the low-frequency microwave absorbing performance because of natural resonance and improved impedance matching. In this study, Fe 3 O 4 @C 3D foam was prepared by carbothermal reduction method and the microwave attenuation performances and mechanisms were studied. By adjusting the content of Fe 3 O 4 @C 3D foam in paraffin composites, the low-frequency microwave attenuation capacity could be effectively optimized. The minimum reflection loss (RL min ) of paraffin composite with 40% (in mass fraction) loading exhibits −54.7 dB at 4.1 GHz for a thickness of 4.0 mm. Surprisingly, the paraffin composite with 50% (in mass fraction) loading could almost cover 2–4 GHz (S-band) in the thickness range of 3.5–5.5 mm. The strong low-frequency microwave attenuation property of Fe 3 O 4 @C 3D foam is mainly attributed to excellent low-frequency impedance matching, natural resonance, interfacial/dipole polarization, multiple reflection and scattering. This method provides a new perspective for preparing lightweight and high performance low-frequency microwave absorbing materials.

A type of hollow core–shell ZnO/Fe3O4@C fibers were fabricated by a facile combination of electrospinning, calcination, and pyrolytic pyrrole-derived carbon coating. The combination of ZnO/Fe3O4 fibers and carbon nanolayer improved the dielectric loss capability of the nanocomposites and obtained good impedance matching, leading to excellent electromagnetic wave (EMW) absorption performance. The minimum reflection loss of the ZnO/Fe3O4@C nanocomposites reached −74.2 dB at a thickness of merely 2.2 mm, and the effective absorption bandwidth reached 5.5 GHz at a matching thickness of 2.1 mm. Compared with the ZnO- or Fe3O4-based composites ever reported, our ZnO/Fe3O4@C nanocomposites exhibited superior EMW absorption characteristics due to the efficient design of multiple synergistical components and hollow fibrous structures. Combined with the facile, scalable preparation approach, the hollow core–shell ZnO/Fe3O4@C nanocomposite fibers with high EMW absorption performance show great potential for EMW absorption applications.

Spherical Fe 3 O 4 /polyaniline(PANI) nanocomposites with core-shell structure were prepared by oxidative polymerization of aniline on the Fe 3 O 4 − /aniline(ANI) + nanocomposite template formed by the electrostatic interaction between nano-Fe 3 O 4 and aniline salt. FTIR and UV–Vis results indicate that there is coordination interaction between Fe 3 O 4 and PANI interface. SEM and TEM results show that the thickness of PANI shell increases with the increase of aniline/Fe 3 O 4 mass ratio. Compared with PANI, Fe 3 O 4 /PANI nanocomposites maintain obvious redox activity in neutral medium. The organic composite coating was prepared by filling Fe 3 O 4 /PANI nanocomposites into waterborne acrylate/amino baking paint. The results show that the composition ratio of aniline/Fe 3 O 4 has a great influence on the metal anticorrosive activity of Fe 3 O 4 /PANI nanocomposites. The long-term metal corrosion resistance of Fe 3 O 4 /PANI(1:2) composite coating is three times as compared with unfilled organic coating . The metal anticorrosive mechanism of Fe 3 O 4 /PANI nanocomposites has been revealed to be the excellent nano-barrier effect and the metal surface passivation .

By modifying the bonding of graphene (GR) and Fe3O4, a stable structure of GR-Fe3O4, namely magnetic GR, was obtained. Under the induction of a magnetic field, it can be orientated in an epoxy resin (EP) matrix, thus preparing EP/GR-Fe3O4composites. The effects of the content of GR and the degree of orientation on the thermal conductivity of the composites were investigated, and the most suitable Fe3O4load on GR was obtained. When the mass ratio of GR and Fe3O4was 2:1, the thermal conductivity could be increased by 54.8% compared with that of pure EP. Meanwhile, EP/GR-Fe3O4composites had a better thermal stability, dynamic thermomechanical properties, and excellent electrical insulation properties, which can meet the requirements of electronic packaging materials. Keywords:magnetic GR;EP/GR-Fe3O4composites;orientation;thermal conductivity

Bacterial cellulose (BC) aerogels provide a renewable biological macromolecular scaffold for constructing functional separation media due to their three dimensional nanofibrous network and abundant hydroxyl groups. In this study, BC derived composite aerogels were developed via a multiscale functional coordination approach, incorporating Fe 3 O 4 @PDA nanoparticles and silane derived hydrophobic domains into the cellulose framework. The BC macromolecular network preserved the porous architecture and supplied reactive sites for PDA mediated anchoring and silane condensation, while Fe 3 O 4 @PDA and FAS/MTMS enhanced interfacial adhesion, surface roughness, magnetic recoverability, and water repellency. The resulting composite aerogel exhibited excellent comprehensive performance, such as acid and alkali resistance, thermal stability, and self-cleaning ability. It retained over 80% recovery after 100 compression cycles at 50% strain and displayed outstanding hydrophobic and oleophilic behavior (water contact angle 161.9°) in oil/water separation. The adsorption capacities for oils and organic solvents were ranged from 20.73 to 48.21 g/g with over 85% capacity retention after 50 adsorption/desorption cycles and a continuous separation efficiency of 99.93%.

This paper focuses on the effect of the porosity of Fe3O4 on electromagnetic wave (EMW) loss. The pore structures were based on the Voronoi method by MATLAB, and the electromagnetic fields were constructed based on COMSOL Multiphysics. The energy loss of EMWs with frequencies of 2–18 GHz through Fe3O4 nanoparticles with different porosities was simulated and analyzed. Well-defined porous Fe3O4 nanostructures were synthesized by heating FeCl3·6H2O, urea, and surfactant (TBAB) in an ethylene glycol solution. Then, the prepared samples were eroded with oxalic acid to obtain different porosities. The electromagnetic parameters of the experimental samples were tested to validate the simulation results. The results showed that increasing the porosity, to some extent, was beneficial to the impedance matching characteristics, thus improving the EMW loss. The simulation results with different porosities and the experimental results with varying pore volumes had some consistency. When the porosity of the digital model was 30.63% and the pore volume of the experimental samples was 0.3102 cm3/g, |Zin/Z0| was the closest to 1, indicating that the impedance matching was the best. At the same time, it was found that the pore volume of the material can be used to characterize the porosity during the experimental preparation, thus simplifying the data processing.

Nanozymes with peroxidase-mimicking activities have been extensively explored for hydrogen peroxide (H 2 O 2 ) detection. However, the conventional nanozyme assay with suspensions suffer the limitations of restricted available surface, loss of short-lived radicals, and slow reaction in non-acidic conditions, thus have a greatly reduced detection sensitivity. We here proposed to overcome these drawbacks by constructing aligned nanoreactor sensor with Fe 3 O 4 nanozymes distributed alongside the nanochannels of anodized aluminum oxide (termed as NR-Fe 3 O 4 ), which allowed for a spatially confined nanozyme reactions ( ca. 5 nm) operated under a filtration reaction mode. We presented the unique merits of NR-Fe 3 O 4 on H 2 O 2 detection compared to Fe 3 O 4 nanozyme suspensions, together with the mechanism discussion about how the radical production and capturing got maximized under the confinement. As a result, our NR-Fe 3 O 4 sensor featured a highly sensitive H 2 O 2 detection with a linear concentration from 10 to 5000 nM (detection limit of 0.9 nM), expanded workable pH to neutral, and enhanced nanozyme stability for at least 8 h continuous run. We further showed the great feasibility of using NR-Fe 3 O 4 sensor in complex water matrices for H 2 O 2 detection, as it allowed for a pore rejection of background organics which in turn protected the internal radicals for a capturing and signal magnification. Our findings highlight the great interest of constructing confinement nanoreactors as an innovative approach of enhancing H 2 O 2 detection sensitivity based on the nanozyme assay.
