Titanium dioxide-based materials treat wastewater contaminated by organic pollutants. However, the wide band gap and the ease of agglomeration limit its photocatalytic activity. PDA/PEI@TiO 2 @P-HSM composites were synthesized using PDA/PEI as an interfacial bonding modifier via polymerization reaction. Phase and chemical bonding analysis confirmed the modifiedTiO 2 coated P-HSM, which can effectively reduce the band gap and control the agglomeration of titanium dioxide, i.e., suitable to degrade RhB. Under UV irradiation, PDA/PEI @TiO 2 @P-HSM can remove RhB up to 90 % in 100 min. The photocatalytic degradation process conforms to the Langmuir-Hinshelwood quasi-primary equation. The composite exhibited excellent stability and recycling i.e., a high removal effect, with a removal rate of up to 60 % after seven cycles of reaction.

Halide perovskites have attracted widespread attention in the fields of photovoltaics, LEDs, lasers, and photocatalysis due to their unique optoelectronic properties. Here, we proposed a method to synthesize CsPbBr 3 /TiO 2 composite material by embedding precursors into mesoporous titanium dioxide pores and inducing in-situ growth of the perovskites within the pores. Due to the encapsulation of mesoporous TiO 2 , CsPbBr 3 maintains its excellent luminescent characteristics in water, air, and at high temperatures. Furthermore, the Z-type heterojunction structure formed between mesoporous TiO 2 and internal CsPbBr 3 significantly enhances the photo-generated current, and the response time has increased by 1.7 times.

Atherosclerosis is a chronic inflammatory disease characterized by lipid accumulation and foam cell formation in the arterial wall. Promoting macrophage autophagy has emerged as a promising therapeutic strategy against atherosclerosis. Dipsacoside B (DB) is an oleanane-type pentacyclic triterpenoid saponin extracted from Lonicerae flos with potential anti-atherosclerotic properties. In this study, we investigated the effects of DB on atherosclerosis progression in ApoE −/− mice fed a high-fat diet and explored the underlying mechanisms in oxidized low-density lipoprotein (ox-LDL)-induced foam cells. DB treatment significantly reduced atherosclerotic lesion size, improved plaque stability, and regulated lipid metabolism without impairing liver and kidney function in ApoE −/− mice. In vitro studies revealed that DB dose-dependently inhibited ox-LDL internalization and intracellular lipid accumulation in RAW264.7 macrophages. Mechanistically, DB induced autophagy, as evidenced by increased autophagosome formation and upregulated expression of autophagy markers LC3-II and p62 both in vivo and in vitro. Inhibition of autophagy by chloroquine abolished the antiatherosclerotic and pro-autophagic effects of DB. Furthermore, DB treatment increased LC3-II and p62 mRNA levels, suggesting transcriptional regulation of autophagy. Collectively, our findings demonstrate that DB exerts anti-atherosclerotic effects by inhibiting foam cell formation via autophagy induction, providing new insights into the pharmacological actions of DB and its potential as a therapeutic agent against atherosclerosis.

Poly(acrylic acid- b -styrene) (PAA- b -PS) amphiphilic block copolymers were synthesized by consecutive telomerization of tert -butyl acrylate, atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) of styrene, and hydrolysis. The resulting block copolymers were characterized by 1 H NMR and GPC. These amphiphilic block copolymeric micelles were prepared by dialysis against water. Transmission electron micrograph (TEM) and laser particle sizer measurements were used to determine the morphology and size of these micelles. The results showed that these amphiphilic block copolymers formed spherical micelles with average size of 140–190 nm. The critical micelle concentration (CMC) and the kinetic stability of these micelles were investigated by fluorescence technique, using pyrene as a fluorescence probe. The observed CMC value was in the range of 0.075–0.351 mg/L. Kinetic stability studies showed that the stability of micelles increased with the decrease of the pH value of the solution.

Bacterial infections cause high morbidity and mortality worldwide, and the emergence of drug-resistant bacteria further complicates the treatment of infections. Therefore, it is necessary to continuously develop new treatment methods. Polymyxin B (PMB), as the last line of defense, can combat most aerobic Gram-negative bacilli including common drug-resistant bacteria in clinical practice. However, the suboptimal lung tissue concentration of PMB and dose-dependent nephrotoxicity and neurotoxicity limit its clinical application. The nanodrug delivery system offers several key advantages, including high drug loading capacity, excellent biocompatibility, controlled release mechanisms, and targeted delivery. These features enhance the bioavailability of drugs while simultaneously reducing their toxicity and minimizing side effects. In this study, we designed a targeted nanodrug delivery system (PMB@HMnO2@NM) consisting of hollow mesoporous manganese dioxide (HMnO2) coated with neutrophil membrane (NM). In a mouse model of acute pneumonia induced by multidrug-resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa, treatment with PMB@HMnO2@NM demonstrated the ability to target bacterial aggregation and specifically deliver the drug to the infected lung tissue. This targeted approach resulted in improved survival rates and reduced inflammatory damage without causing adverse effects. The findings of this study suggest the potential for developing a new class of multifunctional nanodrugs, providing new therapeutic strategies for multidrug-resistant (MDR) bacterial infections. Furthermore, these results provide a solid foundation for the design of biomimetic nanosized antibacterial drugs.

The accumulation of aggregated forms of the α-Synuclein (α-Syn) is associated with the pathogenesis of Parkinson's disease (PD), a chronic progressive neurodegenerative disorder. Extensive evidences have shown the promising effects of Ginkgo biloba consumption on motor activity after PD. However, the mechanisms underline the α-Syn-induced cell damage and whether ginkgolides exert neuroprotection against this injury are unclear. Here we showed that aggregated recombinant human α-Syn, but not α-Syn monomers, triggered cell injury in cultured human neuroblastoma cell line SH-SY5Y in an apoptosis way by using flow cytometry and western blot assay. Moreover, pre-treatment with the Ginkgolide B (GB) or Bilobalide (BB) protected SH-SY5Y cells against α-Syn-induced cell viability decreases, and reduced cell apoptosis after aggregated α-Syn stimulation. Together, we firstly find that aggregated α-Syn induced cell apoptosis and GB and BB may attenuate aggregated α-Syn-induced cell apoptosis, which gives us an insight into the novel therapy for PD in future.

The B-site complex BaZr 0.1 Ti 0.9 O 3 (BZT) microplatelets with perovskite-structured were synthesized, using the Bi 4 (Zr 0.1 Ti 0.9 ) 3 O 12 (BIZ 0.1 T 0.9 ) as a precursor. The precursor had a high aspect ratio, with an average size of ∼8.0 μm. Later, B-site complex BZT microplatelets were obtained via molten salt methods. The influence of n(BIZ 0.1 T 0.9 ):n(BaCO 3 ) ratio and calcined temperature in the composition, morphology and local piezoelectric and ferroelectric behaviour for BZT microplatelets was deeply discussed. The result showed that the reactants ratio determined the supersaturation degree in the molten salt environment, while the calcined temperature determined the crystallinity of BZT microcrystals. Overall, with the n(BIZ 0.1 T 0.9 ):n(BaCO 3 ) ratio was 1:4, the BZT microcrystal calcined at 900 °C had a better plate-like morphology. Manwhile, the micropizoelectric properties of BZT microplatelet was studied, achieving a maximum d 33 * of ∼330 pm/V. The result indicated that the B-site complex BZT microplatelets is a potential templates for textured ceramics.

To identify fungicide lead compounds with novel scaffold and high efficacy, a library of 4,5-dihydrotetrazolo [1,5-a]thieno [2,3-e]pyridine derivatives, consisting of 10 newly synthesized compounds and 12 previously reported compounds, was evaluated for their potential as fungicide agents. In vitro bioassay results indicated that some target compounds exhibited certain antifungal activity against the tested fungi at a concentration of 50 μg/mL. Especially, compoundsI-1,I-5,I-7, andI-12demonstrated promising antifungal activity againstC. arachidicola,R. solani, andS. sclerotiorum, with EC50values ranging from 4.61 to 6.66 μg/mL. Additionally, transcriptome analysis revealed that the molecular mode of action of compoundI-12involves the inhibition of nitrogen metabolism and the proteasome pathway. The present work demonstrates that 4,5,6,7-tetrahydrothieno [3,2-b] pyridine represents a promising lead scaffold and provides important theoretical foundations and innovative perspectives for the development of novel and highly efficient fungicides.

Wrinkled graphene prepared by the bubbling chemical vapor deposition method was ball milled to produce active materials for lithium-ion battery anode. By controlling milling parameters, the graphene with optimum electrode performance was obtained. After 2000 cycles at a current of 2000 mA g −1 , the reversible specific capacity can be maintained at 213.04 mAh g −1 , with a retention rate of 150.61 %. It was found that two lithium storage mechanisms coexist in this graphene material, and their capacitive control plays a major role, for example, accounting for 75.87 % contribution at a voltage scan rate of 0.8 mV s −1 . To further improve the electrode performance, B and N co-doped graphene was also prepared through ball milling. The results showed that, at the current of 2000 mA g −1 , the reversible specific capacity after 2000 cycles could reach 225.59 mAh g −1 , which was 5.9 % higher than that of the undoped one.

Developing formic acid (FA) as a promising hydrogen (H 2 ) carrier relies on the exploration of efficient dehydrogenation catalyst. In this work, well-dispersed Pd-B x nanoparticles on XC-72 carbon were synthesized and investigated for FA dehydrogenation, wherein the B doping content can be varied by changing solvothermal temperature, B source concentration, and reaction time. With sodium formate as the additive, the optimized Pd–B 0.2 /C exhibits a low apparent activation energy of 27.6 kJ mol −1 for FA dehydrogenation, enabling the CO-free H 2 production with a high initial turnover frequency of 1146 h −1 and a H 2 generation rate of 315.79 L h −1 g Pd −1 at 343 K. System investigations suggest that the strain and electronic effects induced by B doping collaboratively contribute to the superior catalytic activity by promoting the dissociation of the O–H bond in FA molecule and weakening the possible CO adsorption.

Developing highly efficient photocatalysts for purifying polluted water and degrading organic contaminants has attracted increasing attention. The generation of singlet oxygen (1O2) and superoxide radicals (O2•–) remains a key challenge for achieving high catalytic performance. Herein, a range of metal–organic frameworks (MOFs), denoted as {[MBPDC)]·H2O}n (M = Fe2+ (MOF 1), Co2+ (MOF 2), and Ni2+ (MOF 3); H2BPDC = 2,2′-bipyridine-5,5′-dicarboxylic acid), served as an efficient peroxymonosulfate (PMS) activator for the regioselective oxidation of organic pollutants. Photocatalytic experiments revealed that MOF 2 exhibited superior degradation efficiency toward Rhodamine B (RhB), achieving 99.4% removal within 12 min, significantly faster than MOF 1 (4.5%) and MOF 3 (10.0%). Notably, MOF 2 demonstrated excellent reusability and structural robustness over five consecutive cycles. Through integrated radical scavenging tests and electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectroscopy, 1O2 and O2•– were determined to be the key reactive oxygen species driving the degradation process. The outstanding durability and anti-interference capacity of MOF 2 underscore its practical potential for cost-effective and robust environmental remediation applications.

A highly efficient photocatalyst, the CdS/Mn-MOF composite, was synthesized by first preparing a new 2D Mn-MOF (Mn(L)·H 2 O, H 2 L = 5-(2-benzothiazolyl)isophthalic acid) precursor through the solvothermal method and subsequently growing CdS nanoparticles. X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), UV–vis spectroscopy, and other techniques were utilized to characterize the structural, morphological, textural, compositional, and optical properties of the composites. The prepared photocatalysts, designated as X-CdS/Mn-MOF (where X = 50, 25, and 10, represents the mass percentage of CdS), were tested for photocatalytic performance. Among them, the 50-CdS/Mn-MOF sample exhibits the optimized degradation efficiency of 99.1% for Rhodamine B (RhB, 20 mg/L) in 50 min under visible light irradiation, which is 7.3 times and 2.4 times higher than that of Mn-MOF and CdS, respectively. Various test results indicate that the improved photocatalytic activity of CdS/Mn-MOF composites can be attributed to the formation of heterojunctions. Specifically, the heterojunctions enhance the separation efficiency of photogenerated carriers and effectively suppress the recombination of electrons and holes, thereby improving the overall efficiency of the photocatalytic reaction. Moreover, the presence of heterojunctions optimizes the material's band structure, facilitating more efficient carrier transport, which further enhances photodegradation performance. Radical quenching experiments confirmed hydroxyl radicals (·OH − ) and superoxide radical anions (·O 2 − ) played dominant roles in the photodegradation process. Additionally, the composite material also demonstrates good stability and reproducibility. The research further provides evidence that the efficiency of dye degradation can be significantly improved by the rational design of composite catalysts consisting of other semiconductors and MOFs.
