New ultra-low loss, temperature-stable composite ceramics, (1- x ) Mg 1.99 Ga 0.01 Si 0.99 Al 0.01 O 4 - x CaTiO 3 , have been developed with a view to expanding the portfolio of low-cost, MW dielectrics available for 5 G/6 G telecommunications, currently dominated by 95 wt%MgTiO 3 -5 wt%CaTiO 3 , (Mg,Ca)TiO 3 (relative permittivity, ε r ∼ 21, quality factor, Q × f ∼ 56,000 GHz and temperature coefficient of resonant frequency, τ f ∼ 0 ppm/°C). Compared with (Mg,Ca)TiO 3 , 89 wt%Mg 1.99 Ga 0.01 Si 0.99 Al 0.01 O 4 -11 wt%CaTiO 3 ceramics are also temperature stable ( τ f = −2.72 ppm/°C) but have lower ε r (∼8.55) and a higher Q × f (∼ 72,900 GHz @ 12 GHz and 80,900 GHz @ 26 GHz), better suited to the higher frequencies earmarked for 6 G millimeter-wave (mm-wave) applications. To demonstrate its potential for 5 G/6 G telecommunications, a waveguide filter with novel negative coupling structure was fabricated based on simulated results. The filter had low insertion loss (0.43 dB) at the center frequency (4.8 GHz) and high selectivity with a roll-off rate of 576/375 dB/GHz. The S-parameters matched well at 25 °C and 85 °C, demonstrating that the filter had excellent temperature stability and was therefore suitable for future 5 G/6 G microwave and mm-wave communication devices.

A series of graphitic carbon nitrides (g-C 3 N 4 ) were prepared using different precursors; these g-C 3 N 4 -supported CoOx catalysts exhibited different catalytic performances in toluene catalytic combustion reaction. The structure of samples was detected by XRD, TEM, SEM, XPS, H 2 -TPR, nitrogen adsorption and desorption technique, to build up the structure–performance relationship and uncover the key property of g-C 3 N 4 that mostly influences the catalytic performance of CoOx/g-C 3 N 4 . CoOx with average particle size of 12.7 nm supported on g-C 3 N 4 prepared by dicyandiamide showed better catalytic performance than on other supports, 100% toluene conversion could be achieved at ~ 285 °C, characterization results showed that Co was directly connected with N, and the integrity of g-C 3 N 4 sheet affects the dispersion of CoOx; the content of sp 2 -N (within C=N–C structure) determines the interaction between g-C 3 N 4 and CoOx; these two factors together affect the performance of CoOx/g-C 3 N 4 catalysts in the catalytic combustion of toluene.

An efficient and facile method to fabricate a surficial dispersive heterojunction based on the assembly of g-C3N4 nanoparticles was proposed. A p–n nano heterojunction composed of BiOI and g-C3N4 was constructed by simply loading g-C3N4 nanoparticles on flower-like BiOI nanosheets. The structure-dependent optical, electronic and photoelectric properties were investigated, and the structure–property relationship was discussed. The results show that the g-C3N4 nanoparticles are uniformly loaded on the surface of BiOI nanosheets and thus form a p–n heterojunction with an intimate interface. The as-prepared samples exhibit enhanced photocatalytic degradation ability towards MO under visible-light irradiation. With the unique structure and morphology, enhanced visible-light photocatalytic activities are achieved owing to the synergistic effect of light harvesting, high transfer efficiency and enhanced separation efficiency of photo-generated carriers.

Photocatalytic production of H 2 O 2 is indeed a safe, sustainable and cost-effective technology, offering an environmentally friendly solution to the energy crisis through solar photocatalysis. However, it still faces challenges such as reliance on organic electron donors and pure O 2 , as well as inefficiencies in hole utilization. To overcome these limitations, a dual-channel photocatalytic system has been developed. In this study, we showcase the efficiency of the CuO/Cu(OH) 2 @g-C 3 N 4 composite, derived from CuBTC/g-C 3 N 4 via NaOH treatment, as a high-performance dual-channel photocatalyst for H 2 O 2 production. Under visible light (λ ≥ 420 nm), this composite achieves a H 2 O 2 yield of 1354 μmol/L in 120 min without any sacrificial agent, outperforming g-C 3 N 4 by 8.4 times, CuO by 13.6 times and CuO@g-C 3 N 4 by 1.9 times. Quenching experiments and electron paramagnetic resonance spectra confirmed that HO • and O 2 •− are intermediate products in the photocatalytic process, following a two-step single-electron reaction pathway. The superior activity of CuO/Cu(OH) 2 @g-C 3 N 4 in H 2 O 2 generation can be attributed to the synergistic effects of OH bonds on the CuO@g-C 3 N 4 Z-type heterojunction and Cu(OH) 2 . This research presents a straightforward and promising approach for developing highly efficient photocatalysts for energy conversion.

Nanoparticles including starch- graft -methylmethacrylate, starch- graft -(methylmethacrylate/methyl acrylate), starch- graft -(methyl methacrylate/butyl methacrylate) were synthesized via emulsifier-free emulsion polymerization and were blended with natural rubber latex at various mass ratios. Chemical structure of graft copolymers was confirmed by Fourier transform infrared. Transmission electron microscopy demonstrated the core-shell structures of the nanoparticles distributed uniformly around the natural rubble particles. The tensile strength of blend films was significantly enhanced by addition of graft copolymers. Besides, scanning electron microscopy and atomic force microscopy showed the blend film had smooth surface.

CoP/g-C 3 N 4 , a kind of noble-metal-free binary photocatalyst , has been demonstrated to be active for water splitting. However, high recombination rate of charge carriers is still one of the biggest factors to restrict the photoactivity of CoP/g-C 3 N 4 . In this paper, Boron doped g-C 3 N 4 nanodots (BCNDs) were introduced to CoP/g-C 3 N 4 nanosheets (CoP/CNNS) and a novel CoP/BCNDs/CNNS ternary photocatalyst was constructed. Experimental characterization and testing results indicate that BCNDs/CNNS heterojunction was formed in CoP/BCNDs/CNNS ternary photocatalyst. Comparing with CoP/g-C 3 N 4 , CoP/BCNDs/CNNS facilitates electron-hole separation, and the photocatalytic hydrogen evolution rate can reach 1332.81 μmolg −1 ·h −1 , which is approximately 9.7 times as high as CoP/CNNS. It owns an apparent quantum efficiency of 10.78% at 420 nm. This work would provide a novel strategy to construct high activity g-C 3 N 4 based catalyst without noble metals.

The greatest crux in the combination of chemotherapy and gene therapy is the construction of a feasible and biocompatible carrier for loading the therapeutic drug and gene simultaneously. Here, a new amphiphilic bifunctional pullulan derivative (named as PDP) synthesized by grafting lipophilic desoxycholic acid and low-molecular weight (1 kDa) branched polyethylenimine onto the backbone of pullulan was evaluated as a nano-carrier for the co-delivery of drug and gene for potential cancer therapy. PDP exhibited good blood compatibility and low cytotoxicity in the hemolysis and 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) assays, respectively. By self-assembly process, the amphiphilic PDP polymer formed cationic core-shell nanomicelles in aqueous solution with an average diameter of 160.8 nm and a zeta potential of approximate 28 mV. The PDP micelles had relative higher drug encapsulation efficiency (84.05%) and loading capacity (7.64%) for doxorubicin (DOX), an effective anti-tumor drug, demonstrating sustained drug release profile and good DNA-binding ability. The flow cytometry and confocal laser scanning microscopy showed that PDP/DOX micelles could be successfully internalized by MCF-7 cells, and presenting higher cytotoxicity against MCF-7 cells than that of free DOX. Furthermore, PDP micelles could efficiently transport tumor suppressor gene p53 into MCF-7 cells, and the expressed exogenous p53 protein induced MCF-7 cells to die. More excitedly, in comparison with single DOX or p53 delivery, the co-delivery of DOX and gene p53 using PDP micelles displayed higher cytotoxicity, induced higher apoptosis rate of tumor cells and blocked more effectively the migration of cancer cells in vitro . In tumor-bearing mice, co-delivery of DOX and p53 also exhibited enhanced antitumor efficacy as compared with single delivery of DOX or p53 alone. In summary, these results demonstrated that it is highly promising to use cationic PDP micelles for effectively co-delivering functional gene and chemotherapeutic agent, and thus improving antitumor efficacy and systemic toxicity.

A series of Pd/g-C3N4catalysts were synthesized using different graphitic carbon nitride precursors, and were found to exhibit significant variations in catalytic performance for solvent-free selective catalytic oxidation of benzyl alcohol. Through comprehensive characterization (XRD, N2-BET, ICP-AES, TEM, and XPS), the experimental results found that the nitrogen chemical configuration and surface Pd2+concentration critically determined the catalytic efficiency. Among the various nitrogen species, N-(C)3-type nitrogen demonstrated the strongest influence on catalytic activity, which was positively correlated with its abundance in g-C3N4matrices. In particular, g-C3N4derived from dicyandiamide contained the highest N-(C)3type nitrogen content. When serving as Pd nanoparticle support, this material simultaneously achieved the best Pd2+surface concentration and catalytic performance compared to the other g-C3N4-supported catalysts.

Chikungunya virus (CHIKV) is a mosquito-transmitted alphavirus affecting human health globally. G-quadruplex secondary structures attract great attention as potential targets for antiviral strategy. In this study, we show that the CHIKV genome possesses several conserved potential G-quadruplex sequences. G-quadruplex ligands BRACO-19 and TMPyP4 could stabilize the CHIKV G-quadruplex and inhibit the transcription of constructs containing CHIKV G-quadruplex sequences. Importantly, BRACO-19 and TMPyP4 suppress CHIKV replication. Our study not only reinforces the presence of viral G-quadruplex sequences but also suggests that targeting G-quadruplex structure could represent a novel strategy to inhibit CHIKV. By incorporating hemin into G-quadruplex (G4) during cation-templated self-assembly between guanosine and KB(OH)4, we have constructed an artificial enzyme hydrogel (AEH)-based system for the highly sensitive and selective detection of Pb2+. The sensing strategy is based on a Pb2+-induced decrease in AEH activity. Because of the higher efficiency of Pb2+ for stabilizing G4 compared with K+, the Pb2+ ions substitute K+ and trigger hemin release from G4, thus giving rise to a conformational interconversion accompanied by the loss of enzyme activity. The Pb2+-induced catalytic interconversion endows the AEH-based system with high sensitivity and selectivity for detecting Pb2+. As a result, the AEH-based system shows an excellent response for Pb2+ in the range from 1 pM to 50 nM with a limit of detection of ∼0.32 pM, which is much lower than that of the previously reported G4-DNAzyme. We also demonstrate that this AEH-based system exhibits high selectivity toward Pb2+ over other metal ions. Furthermore, two two-input INHIBIT logic gates have been constructed via switching of the catalytic interconversion induced by K+ and Pb2+ or K+ and pH. Given its versatility, this AEH-based system provides a novel platform for sensing and biomolecular computation.

A simple fluorescence biosensor is developed based on the enzyme-assisted cascade amplification strategy. The amplification system consists of a hairpin-structure DNA (H-DNA) and exonuclease III. The target DNA can hybridize with the H-DNA and initiate exonuclease III-assisted target recycling amplification to generate abundant G-rich DNA (G-DNA). One region of G-DNA is designed to possess the same sequence as target DNA. Thus, the G-DNA can also hybridize with H-DNA and initiate the digestion of H-DNA. The cascade strategy in this amplification system causes the concentration of G-DNA to grow exponentially. The fluorescence intensity of N -methylmesoporphyrin IX (NMM) is highly enhanced due to the formation of G-quadruplex configuration. Under optimal conditions, the cascade system could achieve an admirable sensitivity with a detection limit of 52 fM for HIV DNA, and guarantees a satisfactory specificity. Moreover, the cascade system could be implemented for other target DNA detections by substituting the recognition region of the H-DNA. In this way, a detection limit of 65 fM for HBV DNA could be achieved by the cascade system. The target DNA analysis in a real serum sample further indicates that this biosensor has potential for future application in clinical diagnosis.
A simple and label-free cascade amplification strategy is developed by exploiting hairpin DNA and EXO III for sensitive DNA detection.

The “Shang Han Lun” indicates that honey-processed licorice protects the heart better than raw licorice. Ten major constituents in honey-processed licorice samples were quantified. Protective effects of honey-processed licorices against doxorubicin-induced cardiotoxicity were assessed in zebrafish larvae. Network pharmacology analysis based on the ten target constituents was conducted. Results showed glabridin was lowest in honey-processed Gg, while total content of six components (such as liquiritin) was highest in honey-processed Gu, followed by honey-processed Gi, and lowest in honey-processed Gg. Pharmacological results indicated that honey-processed Gu and Gi significantly improved doxorubicin-induced abnormal pericardial edema and increased venous sinus-arterial bulb distance in larvae. The pericardial area was reduced by 23% and 20%, respectively compared to the model group, and the distances reduced to 81% and 83.3% of the model group, respectively. Although improvements in pericardial edema were rare in the honey-processed Gg group, it reversed venous sinus-arterial bulb distance increase. These results indicate that honey-processed Gu and honey-processed Gi can significantly protect zebrafish embryos against the effects of doxorubicin-induced cardiotoxicity, namely, abnormal heart rate, pericardial edema, and elongation of the venous sinus-arterial bulb distance, whereas honey-processed Gg can only significantly reverse the doxorubicin-induced increase in the venous sinus-arterial bulb distance. Network pharmacology analysis predicted that these constituents have potential for the treatment of metabolic abnormalities and cellular senescence related diseases caused by reactive oxygen species induction, linking to Rap1 pathways. Honey-processed Gu and honey-processed Gi had stronger cardioprotective effects on zebrafish embryos than honey-processed Gg possibly because of differences in composition.
