The interfacial characteristics of carbon fiber (CF)-reinforced polymer (CFRP) composites critically determine their mechanical performance. While CFs modified with nanoparticles demonstrate efficacy in interface regulation of composites, conventional methodologies are typically accompanied by limitations, including high cost of raw materials, nanoparticle agglomeration tendencies, and demanding synthesis conditions, rendering them impractical for large-scale applications. This study presents a simplified, cost-effective technique for in situ synthesis of inorganic copper sulfide (CuS) nanoparticles on CF surfaces. Utilizing copper chloride dihydrate (CuCl 2 ·2H 2 O) and sodium sulfide nonahydrate (Na 2 S·9H 2 O) as precursors, nano-CuS particles with diverse chemical structures and physical morphologies were controllably synthesized in situ on CF surfaces by regulating the ratio of copper-to-sulfur ions. Results indicate significantly improved surface activity, wettability, and smooth surface morphology for the modified CFs. Consequently, the resulting CFO–CuS 1:1 /Polyamide 6 (PA6) composites manifest superior interfacial and mechanical properties, with an interlaminar shear strength (ILSS) of 65.8 MPa and flexural strength of 959.0 MPa. These values represent 19.6% and 24.8% improvements over unsized CF/PA6 composites, respectively. In addition, the thermal conduction performance of CFO–CuS 1:1 /PA6 composites has been significantly improved. This investigation provides a practical strategy for using nanomaterials to modify CF surfaces to enhance interface adhesion and functional properties. Highlight A facile surface modification approach is developed for the in situ growth of low-cost, hydrophilic nano-CuS on carbon fibers. The interfacial bonding and thermal conduction properties of CFO–CuS 1:1 /PA6 composites are remarkably enhanced. Systematic investigation of nano-CuS morphology and structure effects on interfacial properties of CFRP composites.

To develop efficient and reusable catalysts for biodiesel production, quaternary heteropolyacid H 4 PVMo 2 W 9 O 40 (PVMo 2 W 9 ) was effectively wrapped inside rht -MOF-1 { rht -MOF-1 = [Cu 6 O(TZI) 3 (H 2 O) 6 ] 4 ⋅nH 2 O}, affording a crystalline H 4 PVMo 2 W 9 O 40 @ rht -MOF-1 ( 1 ) by one-pot hydrothermal method. The identification of the crystal structure of 1 was achieved through the utilization of X-ray crystallography. Nano-size crystals of 1 ( n-1 ) were prepared with the assistance of surfactant Tween 20. Notably, crystal n-1 was of cube shape grown along {100} facets rather than octahedral shape for 1 . When n-1 was applied as the catalyst for the esterification reactions, high conversion rates were achieved. E. g. about 97 % conversion for oleic acid to the corresponding monoalkyl esters and about 87 % for rapeseed oil to biodiesel. The catalyst was heterogeneous and recyclable 7 times without obvious attenuation. Further, the correlation between the catalytic activity and structure of n-1 was investigated in terms of the distribution of active sites, various pores in rht -MOF-1, and the accessibility of catalytic sites on the {100} facets.

The demand for photothermal fabrics requires more efficient photothermal nanoparticles and more stable interface binding fastness. Nanohybrid coating is considered as used as an efficient method to reach the goal. In this study, a nanohybrid of reduced graphene oxide-zinc-aluminum layered double metal hydroxide (RGO-LDH) was filled to WPU coating to prepare the photothermal textiles. RGO-LDH nanohybrid was surface modified by polydopamine (PDA) to improve the dispersion in WPU. In comparison to the pure WPU film, the WPU nanocomposite film exhibited enhanced water resistance, mechanical properties, and scratch resistance with the inclusion of nanohybrid filler at a 1 wt% concentration. Furthermore, the nanohybrid/WPU coated fabric showed excellent anti-ultraviolet (anti-UV) and photothermal conversion performance. The surface temperature of the nanohybrid/WPU coated fabric rose to 64 °C when exposed to a xenon lamp. After undergoing various durability tests including wearing, washing, folding, and bending, it was confirmed that the modified fabric had outstanding photothermal stability. This work provides a new strategy to fabricate the photothermal textile with excellent warming effect and weather resistance.

Herein, a fast, inexpensive, and sensitive electrochemical approach for the quantification of 6-gingerol in the ginger samples was established. Au nanoparticles-ZnO-reduced graphene oxide (AuNPs-ZnO-rGO) nanocomposites were fabricated and employed as electrode-modified materials to improve the sensitivity of the determination. UV–visible (UV–vis), transmission electron microscope (TEM), and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) characterization elucidated the successful fabrication of AuNPs-ZnO-rGO nanocomposites. Voltammetry investigation demonstrated the excellent electrocatalytic activity of AuNPs-ZnO-rGO nanocomposites toward the redox reaction of 6-gingerol. Using the best experimental conditions (pH: 2.0 BR; the amount of AuNPs-ZnO-rGO suspension: 6 μL; accumulation time: 120 s), the linearity of the peak currents relied on the concentration of 6-gingerol from 0.1 to 100 μM with a detection limit of 0.03 μM (S/N = 3). The developed approach was successfully implemented for the quantification of 6-gingerol in ginger samples, with recoveries of 99.07‒102.1%.

Coumarin is an important secondary metabolite that affects plant physiology. It is a lactone of cis- o -hydroxycinnamic acid and widely exists in medicinal plants . Clematis terniflora DC. is a plant belonging to Ranunculaceae and is rich in variety of coumarins. Feruloyl-CoA 6′-hydroxylase has been reported as a key enzyme in the formation of coumarin basic skeleton only in some common plants, however, its evidence in other species is still lacking especially for the biosynthesis of coumarins in C . terniflora . In the present study, we identified a feruloyl-CoA 6′-hydroxylase CtF6′H in C . terniflora , and functional characterization indicated that CtF6′H could hydroxylate feruloyl-CoA to 6-hydroxyferuloyl-CoA. Furthermore, the expression level of CtF6′H was differed among different tissues in C. terniflora , while under UV-B radiation, the level of CtF6′H was increased in the leaves. Biochemical characteristics and subcellular location showed that CtF6′H was mainly present in the cytosol. The crystal structure of CtF6′H was simulated by homology modeling to predict the potential residues affecting enzyme activity . This study provides the additional evidence of feruloyl-CoA 6′-hydroxylase in different plant species and enriches our understanding of biosynthetic mechanism of coumarin in C . terniflora .

A nanolipidcarrier (NLC) loaded homogalacturonan enriched pectin (citrus modified pectin, MCP4) hydrogel was designed as a novel colon inflammation site-specific oral delivery system for 6-gingerol (6G) (6G-NLC/MCP4 hydrogel) administration, and its colitis alleviation effect were investigated. 6G-NLC/MCP4 exhibited typical “cage-like” ultrastructure with 6G-NLC embedded in the hydrogel matrix as observed by cryoscanning electron microscope. And due to the homogalacturonan (HG) domain in MCP4 specifically combined with Galectin-3, which is overexpressed in the inflammatory region, the 6G-NLC/MCP4 hydrogel targeted to severe inflammatory region. Meanwhile, the prolonged-release characteristics of 6G-NLC provided sustained release of 6G in severe inflammatory regions. The matrix of hydrogel MCP4 and 6G achieved synergistic alleviation effects for colitis through NF-κB/NLRP3 axis. Specifically, 6G mainly regulated the NF-κB inflammatory pathway and inhibited the activity of NLRP3 protein, while MCP4 regulated the expression of Galectin-3 and peripheral clock gene Rev-Erbα/β to prevent the activation of inflammasome NLRP3.

The following study is conducted to improve the corrosion resistance of magnesium alloy. First, ZnAl layered double hydroxide (ZnAl LDH) film was prepared on AZ61 magnesium alloy by using hydrothermal method. Then, as-prepared ZnAl LDH was put into 2-methylimidazole (2-mIm) solution to synthetize ZIF-8 film (ZIF-8/LDH). Finally, ZIF-8/LDH film synthesized ZIF-8-DMBIM film (ZIF-8-DMBIM/LDHs) via a shell-ligand-exchange-reaction in the methanol solution containing 5, 6-dimethylbenzimidazole (DMBIM). The surface morphology, structure, and composition of the composite film were observed and determined by scanning electronic microscopy, X-ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy. The wettability of composite film was measured by using a water contact angle meter, and the corrosion resistance of the composite film was estimated by the polarization curve and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy techniques. Results show that the prepared ZIF-8-DMBIM/LDH composite film has a dense hexagonal plate morphology with a two-layer structure and a thickness of 3.5 μm. Compared with ZnAl LDH and ZIF-8/LDH films, ZIF-8-DMBIM/LDH composite film has a high contact angle (115.7°), low corrosion current density, and high corrosion potential and polarization resistance due to its near-smooth surface, dense two-layer structure, and hydrophobic characters.

Chemiluminescence (CL) intensity of luminol-H 2 O 2 system was dramatically enhanced by cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) micelle-mediated 6-aza-2-thiothymine-protected gold nanoclusters (ATT-AuNCs). It is proved that spherical micelles of CTAB in aqueous solution improved the dispersity of ATT-AuNCs, thus enhancing their catalytic activity, which brought in the increased CL intensity of luminol-H 2 O 2 system. Carbazochrome sodium sulfonate (CSS) with a hemostatic containing tetrahydroindole structure broke the spherical micelles and notably quenched the CL intensity of luminol-H 2 O 2 -CTAB-ATT AuNCs system. Based on these results, a simple, fast, and sensitive CL method has been developed for the detection of CSS with a linear range of 0.25–25 μM and a detection limit of 0.11 μM. The method has also been successfully applied to the determination of CSS in serum with satisfied recoveries in the range of 89.6 % to 103.7 %. This study not only provides an effective approach for CSS detection but also paves the way for AuNCs-based CL applications.

The litchi downy blight disease of litchi caused byPeronophythora litchiiaccounts for severe losses in the field and during storage. While ample quantitative studies have shown that 6-pentyl-2H-pyran-2-one (6PP) possesses antifungal activities against multiple plant pathogenic fungi, the regulatory mechanisms of 6PP-mediated inhibition of fungal pathogenesis and growth are still unknown. Here, we investigated the potential molecular targets of 6PP in the phytopathogenic oomycetesP. litchiithrough integrated deployment of RNA-sequencing, functional genetics, and biochemical techniques to investigate the regulatory effects of 6PP againstP. litchii. Previously we demonstrated that 6PP exerted significant oomyticidal activities. Also, comparative transcriptomic evaluation ofP. litchiistrains treated with 6PP Revealed significant up-regulations in the expression profile of TOR pathway-related genes, includingPlCytochrome Cand the transcription factorsPlYY1. We also noticed that 6PP treatment down-regulated putative negative regulatory genes of the TOR pathway, includingPlSpm1andPlrhoH12inP. litchii. Protein-ligand binding analyses revealed stable affinities between PlYY1, PlCytochrome C, PlSpm1, PlrhoH12 proteins, and the 6PP ligand. Phenotypic characterization ofPlYY1targeted gene deletion strains generated in this study using CRISPR/Cas9 and homologous recombination strategies significantly reduced the vegetative growth, sporangium, encystment, zoospore release, and pathogenicity ofP. litchii. These findings suggest that 6PP-mediated activation ofPlYY1expression positively regulates TOR-related responses and significantly influences vegetative growth and the virulence ofP. litchii. The current investigations revealed novel targets for 6PP and underscored the potential of deploying 6PP in developing management strategies for controlling the litchi downy blight pathogen.Keywords:P. litchii;6-pentyl-2H-pyran-2-one (6PP);TOR pathway;CRISPR/Cas 9;PlYY1

Epoxidized silicone rubber with an epoxy content of 5% (ESR-5) was introduced to improve the compatibility of the polyamide 6 (PA6)/poly(dimethylsiloxane) (PDMS) composite. The effects of the ESR-5 on the molecular structure, interfacial morphology, and toughness and thermal properties of the PA6/PDMS composite were investigated using nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy, differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), atomic force microscopy (AFM), and dynamic thermomechanical analysis (DMA). The FT-IR spectra and torque rheological testing confirmed the reaction between the epoxy group of ESR-5 and the carboxyl group at the end of PA6. The AFM and SEM images confirmed that the ESR-5 altered the interfacial thickness and remarkably decreased the average size of the dispersed rubber particles, which enhanced the interfacial compatibility. At a rubber content of 20% by weight in PA6/PDMS composites, the optimum impact strength at −60 °C, which is 469% higher than pure PA6, was obtained with an ESR-5 content of 50% in rubber phase.

Birefringent materials have been used extensively owing to their indispensable role in creating and modulating polarized light, while birefringent materials for deep ultraviolet (DUV, λ < 200 nm) applications are still urgently needed. Herein, a strategy to induce the formation of birefringence-active 1 ∞ [BO 2 ] chains driven by AlO m F n units is proposed for designing DUV birefringent materials, and a new fluoroaluminoborate, Li 0.5 Na 0.5 AlB 2 O 4 F 2 , with aligned 1 ∞ [BO 2 ] chains and an unprecedented [AlO 3 F 3 ] 6− motif is synthesized. The birefringence of Li 0.5 Na 0.5 AlB 2 O 4 F 2 achieves significant enhancement compared with maternal structure LiAlB 2 O 5 due to the optimization of functional units and arrangement via co-substitution and fluorination tactics. The design strategy provides a propitious and feasible way to construct novel structures with excellent optical properties.

The interaction between the outer surface of cucurbit[6]uril (Q[6]) and methyl triphenyl phosphorus iodide (MTPI) has been studied in the presence of [CdCl 4 ] 2- . The MTPI is connected to four neighboring Q[6]s through weak interactions such as C-H···π and C-H···O, whilst the [CdCl 4 ] 2- is connected with the portal carbonyl oxygen, glycoside urea methylene and a bridging methylene of a Q[6] molecule via ion–dipole interactions. These interactions were evident from a single crystal X-ray diffraction study of Q[6]-MTPI-[CdCl 4 ] 2- . Furthermore, this complex exhibits a porous structure, which can be described as a Q[6]-based supramolecular framework (QSF), and its ability to adsorb iodine was also investigated.
