An approach to the detection of F−ions in food samples was developed based on a “switch-off-on” fluorescence probe of silicon nanoparticles (SiNPs). The fluorescence of the synthetic SiNPs was gradually quenched in the presence of Fe3+ion and slightly recovered with the addition of F−ion owing to the formation of a stable and colorless ferric fluoride. The fluorescence recovery exhibited a good linear relationship (R2= 0.9992) as the concentration of F−ion increased from 0 to 100 μmol·L−1. The detection limit of the established method of F−ion was 0.05 μmol·L−1. The recovery experiments confirmed the accuracy and reliability of the proposed method. The ultraviolet–visible spectra, fluorescence decays, and zeta potentials evidenced the fluorescence quenching mechanism involving the electron transfer between the SiNPs and Fe3+ion, while the fluorescence recovery resulted from the formation of ferric fluoride. Finally, SiNPs were successfully applied to detect F−ions in tap water, Antarctic krill, and Antarctic krill powder.Keywords:determination;Fe3+ion;F−ion;fluorescence switch-off-on;silicon nanoparticles;Antarctic krill

The wastewater discharge from the process of chrome plating, which contains 6:2 chlorinated polyfluorinated ether sulfonate (F-53B) and chromium (Cr), may be toxic to biofilm. In this study we found that the biofilm formed by Pseudomonas aeruginosa PAO1 was inhibited by exposure to a combination of F-53B and Cr(VI). The combined pollution damaged the cell membranes and the structure of the biofilm, and inhibited the production of the Pseudomonas quinolone-based signal, which affected biofilm formation. Moreover, the secretion of extracellular polymeric substances decreased as a result of this combined exposure. Exposure to F-53B and Cr(VI) individually or in combination could induce the excessive accumulation of intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS), and the ROS positive rate of the bacteria increased under the treatment with 0.2 mmol/L of Cr(VI) and 250 nmol/L of F-53B, respectively. In addition, the activities of superoxide dismutase (SOD) and catalase (CAT) were enhanced for scavenging ROS in the bacteria that were exposed to Cr(VI) and F-53B. As an antioxidant, rutin was used to repair the toxicity of Cr(VI) and F-53B towards the biofilm formed by the bacteria. When rutin was added to the bacteria medium, with either Cr(VI) or F-53B as pollutant, or with the combined pollutants, the extracellular protein content of the bacteria recovered to 0.84, 0.94, and 0.85 times that of the control, respectively. Meanwhile, the accumulation of ROS and the activities of SOD and CAT decreased, which indicated that the addition of rutin can alleviate the oxidative stress and promote the antioxidant stress system.

In response to the pressing demand for acetic anhydride gas detection, this study introduces a novel gas sensor for precisely detecting acetic anhydride concentrations. The optimum conditions for the synthesis of cobalt hydroxyfluoride/cobalt oxide (CHFCO) heterojunctions with good acetic anhydride gas sensitivity were determined by carefully adjusting the calcination time, hydrothermal time and ammonium fluoride content. The best performing composite CHFCO sensor with porous rod particles was tested at 180 ℃ and achieved a response rate of 260 for 100 ppm acetic anhydride gas, with response and recovery times of 60 and 40 s, respectively. In comparison to other prepared sensors, the detection response for acetic anhydride was improved by a factor of 4.30–23.63. Moreover, the CHFCO sensor reliably detected acetic anhydride at a concentration of 500 ppb, exhibiting a response value of 1.56. Notably, the sensor demonstrated great selectivity, moisture resistance , and stability. The findings highlight the significant enhancements in gas-sensitive performance to acetic anhydride achieved by the abundant hydroxyl bonds on the surface of CHFCO heterojunction, the presence of fluorine ions , and the modulation of the band gap. These results provide valuable insights for the advancement of acetic anhydride gas sensors based on CHFCO heterojunction.

A novel tricolor F/N co-doped CDs was synthesized by alkali-assisted control with gourd flesh as a precursor, targeting at the catalytic degradation of organic dyes with extremely high catalysis rate. The synthesized nanomaterials were characterized by X-ray diffraction, Transmission electron microscopy , Fourier transform infrared spectra and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy techniques, indicating that the tricolor F/N-CDs have good dispersion and abundant surface defects which were gradually increasing from F/N-G-CDs, F/N-Y-CDs to F/N- O -CDs. Through the UV–visible and fluorescence spectra , the tricolor F/N-CDs all exhibited good fluorescence performance and the fluorescence lifetime was nano-scale level. The tricolor F/N-CDs displayed excellent photocatalytic activity which was evaluated by the organic dyes methylene blue (MB) and congo red (CR) as models. The important thing is that under sunlight irradiation, the degradation efficiency of using tricolor F/N-CDs for MB reaches ~100% and the degradation efficiency for CR dye reaches ~98% in a pole short time. With the red shift of the fluorescent tricolor F/N-CDs, the degradation time gradually decreased and the degradation rate gradually increased. The results explained that the prepared tricolor F/N-CDs had excellent application prospects in the natural degradation.

Visible light has better biocompatibility and is more accessible for anti-counterfeiting compared to UV light. However, the synthesis of visible light excitable CDs-based long afterglow materials is still a challenge, especially in aqueous solution. Herein, we provide the first example of visible-light excitable thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) in aqueous solution by confining the fluorine and nitrogen co-doped CDs in silica nanoparticles (F, NCDs@SiO 2 ). The hydrogen network and covalent bonds effectively protect the triplet excitons from quenching by water oxygen, so the nanoparticles can produce long-lived TADF in aqueous solutions under the excitation of white light. Meanwhile, the large number of silanol groups on the surface of amorphous silicon endows F, NCDs@SiO 2 with water solubility making them possible for time-resolved probes. We reveal that fluorine doping is essential for obtaining visible-light excitable TADF, which redshifts the excitation spectra and narrows the energy level between the singlet and triplet states through strong electron-withdrawing effect and heavy-atom effects. Our work provides a new strategy for the development of visible-light-excited TADF materials in aqueous solution and potential applications of CDs in information encryption, temperature sensor and time-resolved fluorescence bioimaging.

A novel sunflower-like nanocomposite of SrCo2S4 nanoflakes and functionalized multiwall carbon nanotubes (f-MWCNTs) entanglement enveloped in nitrogen-reduced graphene oxide (N-RGO) is prepared by a cheap process. The unique entanglement structure of the material
exhibits higher specific surface area, better electrical conductivity and other properties. This helps to reduce the transfer resistance in the photoelectric process of the battery and improve the electrochemical activity, thus increasing the photoelectric conversion efficiency of the battery.
The new ternary cobalt-based sulfide material can replace platinum as the counter electrode (CE) material loaded on dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs). DSSCs with SrCo2S4@f-MWCNTs@N-RGO (SCS@f-M@N-R) as CE material show excellent photoelectric conversion efficiency (PCE,
8.06%), even surpassing than that of Pt CE material (7.51%). The low cost, excellent electrocatalytic performance and simple preparation method of SCS@f-M@N-R nanomaterial provide feasibility for replacing platinum material as the CE material of DSSCs, which is of great significance and persuasion.

A novel fluorescence probe L2 based on coumarin has been designed and synthesized. The probe L2 can be used for relay recognition of metal ions Al 3+ and anion F − in the aqueous HEPES buffer (0.05 M, pH = 7.4), and build a OFF-ON-OFF detection system. The probe showed high selectivity and sensitivity to target ions in the process of relay recognition, and the corresponding detection limit could be as low as 0.014 μM (Al 3+ ) and 0.03 μM (F − ). Besides, the geometry optimizations of probe L2 and [L2 + Al 3+ ] complex were carried out using the Gaussian 16 program based on DFT, and the identification mechanism of the probe was also discussed by the mass spectrometry and theoretical calculations. Moreover, the probe has also been successfully applied to detection of target ions in living cells.

N/F-doped nanospheres hard carbon (CDC-F-900) was prepared via simple annealing followed by HF solvothermal reaction. F-doping is achieved by replacing –OH and –COOH groups with F − to form C-F and C-F 2 . Abundant micropores and defect structures exist in CDC-F-900, providing a rapid diffusion pathway for Na + /K + . Therefore, it provides the capacity of 372.2 mAh/g after 1000 cycles at 0.1 A/g in sodium-ion batteries (SIBs). Especially in potassium-ion batteries (PIBs), it can still provide an ultra-high capacity of 214.2 mAh/g at 10 A/g after 5000 cycles. This is due to the inorganics-rich SEI which possesses higher ionic conductivity and stability, resulting in excellent long-cycle stability. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations indicate that the conjugate effect of N/F leads to an appropriate adsorption energy for K + at defects. Not only does it increase the reversible capacity by reducing irreversible K + adsorption, but it also accelerates ion transport rate, resulting in better rate capability. The potassium storage mechanism of CDC-F-900 is elaborated in detail through in-situ Raman spectroscopy and XRD pattern. This work provides a new insight for the design and development of low-cost, source-rich, and long-life hard carbon anodes for SIBs/PIBs.

Sluggish oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) kinetics limit the development of metal-air batteries and fuel cells, hindering overall energy conversion efficiency. Therefore, significant research has focused on cost-effective, highly active, and exceptionally stable non-precious metal ORR electrocatalysts. This study presents the synthesis of a nanohybrid material called Fe SAs/FN-CNs. It is made up of single iron atoms embedded in ultrathin porous carbon nanosheets that are co-doped with F and N. The synthesis process involves an easy one-step pyrolysis technique without additional post-treatment. The Fe SAs/FN-CNs material is designed to function as an effective zinc-air battery ORR electrocatalyst. Based on their distinctive components and structure, the optimal Fe SAs/FN-CNs exhibit outstanding catalytic efficiency and long-lasting performance in the alkaline ORR. They have an onset potential (E onset ) of 0.95 V, a half-wave potential (E 0.5 ) of 0.85 V, a kinetic current density (J K ) of 20.49 mA cm −2 at 0.8 V, and a diffusion-limited current (J d ) of 6.2 mA cm −2 . In addition, a Zn-air battery made using homemade Fe SAs/FN-CNs demonstrated a power density of 197 mW cm −2 , a specific capacitance of 813.5 mAh g −1 , and exceptional stability. It outperformed the commercial Pt/C by operating continuously for over 147 hours at 10 mA/cm² (discharge-charge). The Fe SAs/FN-CNs nanohybrid electrocatalyst shows great potential as an electrocatalyst for various metal-air batteries.

Al 2 O 3 exhibits high activity for the resource utilization of potent greenhouse gases, hydrofluorocarbons via dehydrofluorination or F/Cl exchange. However, it experiences completely fluorination under corrosive HF environment, leading to thorough fluorination of F-Al-O active site into F-Al-F, accompanied with serious carbon deposition. In this work, we successfully confined Al 2 O 3 in SiC (Al 2 O 3 @SiC) via treating Al 2 O 3 /SiC under high temperatures (>800 °C). The results showed that different with simple loaded Al 2 O 3 (Al 2 O 3 /SiC), during high temperature treatment, reaction between Al 2 O 3 and SiC occurred, leading to the confinement effect. Then, contributed by the interaction, desired F-Al-O species could be stabilized on the surface of SiC. While for Al 2 O 3 /SiC, it thoroughly turned into AlF 3 under identical reactive conditions, leading to inferior stability during CH 3 CHF 2 dehydrofluorination. Furthermore, the reaction rate of 5 %Al 2 O 3 @SiC is nearly up to 4 folds higher than that of traditional AlF 3 . Facilitated by the suitable Lewis acid intensity, less carbon deposition formed on Al 2 O 3 @SiC. Thus, constructing strong interaction between F-Al-O and stable SiC provides a potential strategy to stabilize unstable active centers.

An electrochemical sensor demonstrating exceptional sensitivity was constructed for bisphenol F analysis. Carbon nanocages and Prussian blue nanocubes were synthesized and then applied to modify a glassy carbon electrode layer by layer, creating the unique sensing platform. The combination of carbon nanocages and Prussian blue nanocubes greatly improved the charge transfer rate and offered a substantial surface area for bisphenol F adsorption. Exhibiting outstanding electrocatalytic performance for bisphenol F oxidation, the as-proposed electrode provided a broad linear range from 0.1 to 500 μM and a low detection limit of 0.03 μM (S/N = 3). The sensor manifested strong selectivity, showing minimal interference from typical coexisting substances. Its stability and reproducibility were evaluated, and the results were satisfactory. The sensor effectively determined bisphenol F in real samples, achieving recoveries between 95.7 % and 98.4 %. This study offers a promising method for the sensitive and precise detection of bisphenol F in environmental samples, significantly contributing to environmental monitoring.

People pay more and more attention to their own health and environmental safety, which makes the monitoring and treatment of harmful amines such as triethylamine (TEA) emitted in the industrial process increasingly critical. In order to address this issue, we focus on the heterostructure construction of two-dimensional rhenium disulfide (ReS 2 ) and acid-functionalized carbon nanotubes (f-MWCNTs), using their unique electronic properties and high specific surface area for triethylamine gas detection. The findings demonstrated that, at room temperature (25°C), the ReS 2 /f-MWCNTs sensor's response to 100 ppm TEA reached 63 %. Under the same environmental conditions (25℃), the response value of the ReS 2 sensor to 100 ppm TEA is 6 %, and the sensing performance is improved by more than 10 times. In addition, the sensor has fast response recovery (73 s/46 s) and good repeatability and stability. Based on this research, we designed a simple detection device, providing a direction for the practical detection application of TEA sensors.
