Fe-based Metal–Organic Frameworks (MOFs) show promise as heterogeneous Fenton-like catalysts; however, in the removal of hydrophobic VOCs, traditional wet Fenton systems suffer from slow Fe 3+ /Fe 2+ cycling and high gas–liquid mass transfer resistance, severely limiting their industrial application. To address these challenges, this study proposes a dual optimization strategy. Specifically, a gas-phase H 2 O 2 Fenton-like system was constructed to overcome mass transfer limits, and multivalent Mn was introduced into the MIL-100(Fe) to accelerate the Fe 2+ /Fe 3+ cycle. Among the synthesized catalysts, MIL-100(Fe 4 Mn 1 ) (4FM) exhibited superior catalytic performance, achieving 85% toluene degradation efficiency and a capacity of 87.17 μg C 7 H 8 /(g·min)) under optimized conditions, significantly outperforming its monometallic counterparts. Characterization results reveal that 4FM retains an ordered crystalline structure with highly dispersed active sites and an optimized pore architecture. Mechanistic studies indicate that Fe–Mn synergy induces an “electron pump” effect, utilizing the thermodynamic potential differences to accelerate the reduction of Fe 3+ to Fe 2+ . Concurrently, the system establishes dual reaction centers (Fe and Mn), where efficient Mn 2+ /Mn 3+ /Mn 4+ and Fe 2+ /Fe 3+ redox cycles facilitate sustained gaseous H 2 O 2 activation into hydroxyl radicals (·OH), promoting efficient toluene degradation. This study provides a promising strategy utilizing gas-phase Fenton-like catalytic technology to overcome kinetic and mass transfer bottlenecks in degrading of hydrophobic VOCs. Graphical

FeMn-HATP was synthesized as an efficient Sb(III) adsorbent. • Synergistic oxidative adsorption by FeMn-HATP enhances Sb(III) removal efficiency. • Kinetic, isotherm, and thermodynamic studies investigated FeMn-HATP adsorption. • An Sb(III) degradation mechanistic pathway is proposed. • FeMn-HATP demonstrated excellent regeneration performance in fixed-bed column tests. An affordable, environmentally friendly, simple adsorbent for Sb(III) removal from aqueous solutions was prepared using attapulgite (ATP) as the matrix, and FeSO 4 and KMnO 4 as metal precursors, through an in situ precipitation approach. The morphology, pore structure, and surface chemical properties of the material were analyzed using various characterization techniques. The results indicate that the iron-manganese bimetallic-modified acid-activated ATP (FeMn-HATP) surface is loaded with relatively uniformly distributed iron and manganese components, and its specific surface area and pore structure differ significantly from the original ATP. These changes promote pollutant molecule diffusion and contact. In batch adsorption experiments, FeMn-HATP achieved good Sb(III) removal performance and remained relatively stable within a pH range of 4 −10. The material maintained a relatively stable adsorption capacity even in the presence of high concentrations of other anions. Adsorption of Sb(III) by the modified ATP better conforms to both Elovich kinetic and Langmuir isotherm models, with a theoretical maximum adsorption capacity of 102.79 mg/g at 318.15 K. Fixed-bed cycling experiments demonstrated that FeMn-HATP retained significant adsorption capacity after five NaOH regenerations, with a dynamic adsorption capacity of 14.68 mg/g and a regeneration efficiency of 68.16%. Overall, FeMn-HATP exhibits good potential for Sb(III) removal with a degree of reusability, indicating promise for the treatment of antimony-containing wastewater. Lattice oxygen defects promote efficient oxidant activation • Iron and manganese sites drive singlet oxygen dominated oxidation • Rapid antibiotic degradation achieved in real water matrices • Catalyst shows low metal leaching and good cycling stability • Treated effluents show low ecological risk in seed germination tests Enhancing the activation efficiency of peroxymonosulfate (PMS) to generate reactive oxygen species (ROS) is crucial for boosting Fenton-like reactions. However, simultaneously promoting PMS adsorption, accelerating interfacial electron transfer, and shifting the activation pathway to optimize its activation kinetics still poses a substantial challenge. Herein, we developed a bimetallic catalyst enriched with lattice oxygen defects, denoted as Fe 14 Mn 1 -LOx, for PMS activation toward the remediation of emerging organic contaminants in aquatic environments. Combined experimental and theoretical mechanistic studies reveal that the intrinsic catalytic activity of Fe 14 Mn 1 -LOx originates from the intermetallic lattice oxygen defects (Fe-O latt -Mn). These defects significantly elongate the O O bond of adsorbed PMS and drastically lower its dissociation energy to 5.79 kJ mol −1 . Furthermore, the Fe-O latt -Mn sites increase the electron density near the Fermi level and adopt a bidentate coordination configuration, enabling faster and more efficient electron transfer to the O O bond, thereby promoting the generation of radical and non-radical species, predominantly singlet oxygen ( 1 O 2 ) with a contribution as high as 97.4%. Benefiting from these merits, the Fe 14 Mn 1 -LOx catalyst exhibits an exceptional degradation rate constant of 0.513 min −1 for tetracycline (TC), a representative emerging contaminant. This rate is 3.72 and 24.4 times higher than those of pristine FeOx (0.138 min −1 ) and MnOx (0.021 min −1 ), respectively. Remarkably, complete TC removal (100%) is achieved within just 10 min, outperforming most reported analogous catalysts. This work underscores the critical role of precisely engineering intermetallic lattice oxygen defects to modulate heterogeneous PMS activation, offering an innovative catalyst design strategy for efficient deep purification of emerging contaminants in real water matrices. MOFs represent a promising platform for enzyme immobilization, yet the development of tailored strategies to accommodate both enzyme properties and MOF structures remains a challenge. In this study, we employed chitosanase BCC1 as a model enzyme and integrated Fe 2+ /Mn 2+ ions into the ZIF-8 to construct a bimetallic MOF-based immobilization system (BCC1@Fe/Mn-ZIF-8). Comprehensive characterization by SEM, FTIR, TGA confirmed the successful immobilization and structural integrity of the composite. The immobilized enzyme retained 97 % of its initial activity and exhibited enhanced stability under harsh thermal, pH, and solvent conditions. Notably, BCC1@Fe/Mn-ZIF-8 maintained 117 % activity after 14 days at 4 °C and 72 % residual activity after 14 reuse cycles, indicating excellent storage and reusability. This bimetallic MOF-based strategy offers a robust and efficient approach for enzyme immobilization, with strong potential in industrial biocatalysis.

Accurate and rapid detection of foodborne pathogens is a key to prevent foodborne disease outbreaks. In this study, a novel impedance immunosensor based on a metal-organic framework (Mn-MOF-74) is used to rapidly and sensitively detect Listeria monocytogenes ( L. m ) in milk. Divalent manganese ions are released by the MOF reduction reaction mediated by hydrogen peroxide. Consequently, the impedance signal was detected by high conductive single-crystalline gold interdigitated microelectrode to achieve quantification of L. m . First, the capture antibodies (Ab 1 ) are modified on the surface of the magnetic beads to generate immunomagnetic beads (MBs@Ab 1 ), which are used specifically to separate L. m cells in the matrices. Later, the immunosensor (Mn-MOF-74@Ab 2 ) is added to the matrices to form a sandwich complex (MBs@Ab 1 - L. m -Mn-MOF-74@Ab 2 ). Henceforward, Mn 2+ is released from the sandwich composite via the action triggered by H 2 O 2 . The release of Mn 2+ significantly changes the impedance of interdigitated microelectrodes, leading to ultrasensitive detection of L. m . The recoveries for L. m cells at the concentration between 1.0 × 10 0 and 1.0 × 10 4 CFU/mL are 90.2%–101.7% in water and 88.5%–96.2% in milk. The detection limit of this approach for L. m cells in water and milk are 7.1 and 9.2 CFU/mL, respectively. This approach can achieve rapid quantification of L. m cells within 60 min, and can also be employed to monitor other foodborne pathogens.

The slow kinetics of the oxygen evolution reaction (OER) is one of the significant reasons limiting the development of electrochemical hydrolysis. Doping metallic elements and building layered structures have been considered effective strategies for improving the electrocatalytic performance of the materials. Herein, we report flower-like nanosheet arrays of Mn-doped-NiMoO4/NF (where NF is nickel foam) on nickel foam by a two-step hydrothermal method and a one-step calcination method. The doping manganese metal ion not only modulated the morphologies of the nickel nanosheet but also altered the electronic structure of the nickel center, which could be the result of superior electrocatalytic performance. The Mn-doped-NiMoO4/NF electrocatalysts obtained at the optimum reaction time and the optimum Mn doping showed excellent OER activity, requiring overpotentials of 236 mV and 309 mV to drive 10 mA cm−2(62 mV lower than the pure NiMoO4/NF) and 50 mA cm−2current densities, respectively. Furthermore, the high catalytic activity was maintained after continuous operation at a current density of 10 mA cm−2of 76 h in 1 M KOH. This work provides a new method to construct a high-efficiency, low-cost, stable transition metal electrocatalyst for OER electrocatalysts by using a heteroatom doping strategy.Keywords:OER;Mn-doped;transition metal electrocatalyst;nanosheet

Organophosphate esters (OPEs) waste is difficult to dispose effectively because of its stability and the potential risk of P element. In this study, taking one typical organic extractant of tributyl phosphate (TBP) as an example, we proposed a strategy to treat OPEs inspired by chemical looping combustion (CLC) technology—oxygen carrier immobilization process (OCIP), aiming at efficient TBP degradation and simultaneous P immobilization. Adopting Fe-Mn bimetallic oxide (FMBO) as oxygen carrier, an almost 100% P immobilization efficiency was achieved under recommended conditions which were obtained by response surface methodology . Meanwhile, gaseous products released from TBP degradation, e.g., non-methane hydrocarbon, was lower than the maximum allowable emission concentration limit. Further characterizations implied that P-species released from reaction process were mainly immobilized as stable inorganic forms of metaphosphate, phosphate and pyrophosphate. On the basis of identifying degradation intermediates, we proposed a possible degradation pathways. FMBO as an oxygen carrier provided sufficient oxygen molecules for flameless combustion of OCIP process. Electron paramagnetic resonance measurement confirmed the existence of oxygen vacancies on FMBO surface, which contributed to the formation of •O 2 − . Oxidation by oxygen molecules and •O 2 − attack resulted in the degradation and mineralization of TBP, with simultaneously achieving P stabilization.

In recent years, the abuse of antibiotics has brought a great environmental problem. Therefore, it is important to develop highly efficient technology for treating antibiotic pollutants. Herein, Mn-doped zeolitic imidazolate framework-67 (Mn-ZIF67) nanocrystals were prepared using a modified solvothermal method and then characterized by various techniques. The prepared Mn-ZIF67 was applied to activate peroxymonosulfate (PMS) for the degradation of norfloxacin (NOR). The degradation results illustrated that a removal rate of 85% and a mineralization rate of 42% were achieved in the degradation of NOR within 30 min under the optimized reaction conditions. Additionally, free radical quenching experiments proved that the main active substance in the reaction system was SO4˙−. Besides, the material exhibits good recycling performance and can achieve a 70% NOR degradation rate after 5 cycles. According to the degradation intermediates detected by LC-MS, three possible degradation pathways of NOR were inferred. This work proves that Mn-ZIF67 has a good catalytic effect and it could be considered as a new and perspective material for organic wastewater treatment.

Mn O 2 -modified Pb 0 . 9 6 2 5 Sm 0 . 0 2 5 ( Mg 1 / 3 Nb 2 / 3 ) 0 . 7 1 Ti 0 . 2 9 O 3 ceramics were prepared via a solid-state reaction approach. Results of detailed characterizations revealed that the addition of Mn O 2 has influence on the grain size, and all samples exhibit a pure perovskite structure. As the content of manganese increases, the volume of tetragonal phase increases. The ceramics with 1.5 mol.% Mn O 2 show a high electro-strain of 0.151% at 2 kV/mm. Therefore, this study provides a new insight into the role of Mn O 2 addition in tailoring the electrical properties of the Sm-PMN-PT ceramics by acceptor doping.

Two chalcogenidoantimonates Mn(en) 3 Sb 2 S 4 ( 1 ) and Co(en) 3 Sb 2 Se 4 ( 2 ) have been synthesized in solvothermal conditions. 1 and 2 are consist of transition metal complex cations and [Sb 2 Q 4 ] 2- (Q = S, Se) anions. They have band gaps of 2.20 eV and 2.25 eV, respectively, indicating that they can be used as semiconductor materials. The photocurrent responses of 1 and 2 were also investigated. Photocatalytic experiments showed that both 1 and 2 could degrade methylene blue (MB) upon visible light irradiation, reaching 47 % for 1 and 30 % for 2 , indicating that both compounds are good photocatalytic materials. Therefore, they present a promising potential for the photoelectric research chalcogenides.

In this study, SiO 2 -composited biochar decorated with Fe/Mn was prepared by co-pyrolysis method. The degradation performance of the catalyst was evaluated by activating persulfate (PS) to degrade tetracycline (TC). The effects of pH, initial TC concentration, PS concentration, catalyst dosage and coexisting anions on degradation efficiency and kinetics of TC were investigated. Under optimal conditions (TC = 40 mg L −1 , pH = 6.2, PS = 3.0 mM, catalyst = 0.1 g L −1 ), the kinetic reaction rate constant could reach 0.0264 min −1 in Fe 2 Mn 1 @BC-0.3SiO 2 /PS system, which was 12 times higher than that in the BC/PS system (0.00201 min −1 ). The electrochemical, X-ray diffractometer (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectrum (FT-IR) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) analysis showed that both metal oxides and oxygen-containing functional groups provide more active sites to activate PS. The redox cycle between Fe(II)/Fe(III) and Mn(II)/Mn(III)/Mn(IV) accelerated the electron transfer and sustained the catalytic activation of PS. Radical quenching experiments and electron spin resonance (ESR) measurements confirmed that surface sulfate radical (SO 4 •− ) play a key role in TC degradation . Three possible degradation pathways of TC were proposed based on high-performance liquid chromatography coupled with high-resolution mass spectrometry (HPLC-HRMS) analysis, the toxicity of TC and its intermediates was analyzed by bioluminescence inhibition test. In addition to the enhanced catalytic performance, the presence of silica also improved the stability of the catalyst, as confirmed by cyclic experiment and metal ion leaching analysis. The Fe 2 Mn 1 @BC-0.3SiO 2 catalyst, derived from low-cost metals and bio-waste materials, offer an environmentally friendly option to design and implement heterogenous catalyst system for pollutant removal in water.

SCR technology is considered to be the most effective method for denitrification. However, the low NOx conversion rate of the current catalysts at low temperatures limits their further application. Herein, Sn-doped modified CoAl-LDH carriers are synthesized by a hydrothermal method, and the typical hexagonal sheet structure of the MnOx(0.25)/CoSn3Al-LDO catalyst achieves 100% NO conversion at a wide range of 120–330 °C with a GHSV of 30 000 h−1, and the 100% NO conversion may be maintained at 200 °C for 30 h. After the introduction of 150 ppm SO2 at 200 °C, the NO conversion of the MnOx(0.25)/CoSn3Al-LDO catalyst is maintained at 73.4%, which is greatly improved compared with those of CoAl-LDO and MnOx(0.25)/CoAL-LDO catalysts (64.8% and 38.6%, respectively). The active components such as MnOx and Co3O4 are highly dispersed in the MnOx(0.25)/CoSn3Al-LDO catalyst. Sn doping increases the ratios of Mn4+/Mn3+ and Co3+/Co2+ as well as the adsorbed oxygen amount on the catalyst surface, and improves the redox capacity of the catalyst and increases the number of acid sites, resulting in the excellent low-temperature NH3-SCR performance of MnOx(0.25)/CoSn3Al-LDO.
