The catalytic methane(CH 4 ) and hydrogen sulfide(H 2 S) reforming (H 2 SMR) represents a promising approach for producing high-value sulfur-carbon compounds and hydrogen without generating the greenhouse gas of CO 2 . Despite its significant potential, the mechanistic understanding of interactions between CH 4 and H 2 S remains contentious, posing substantial challenges for catalyst development. In this study, we employed a Mo/Al 2 O 3 catalyst to elucidate synergistic conversion pathways between CH 4 and H 2 S during H 2 SMR. At 1173 K with a reaction duration of 0.5 h, conversion rates of CH 4 and H 2 S reached 63.7 % and 59.2 %, respectively, accompanied by H 2 and CS 2 production rates of 688.8 μmol g −1 min −1 and 444.3 μmol g −1 min −1 , respectively. Notably, the catalyst exhibited stable performance over 5 h without significant deactivation, in contrast to pure methane cracking reactions where CH 4 conversion rapidly declined from 43.6 % to 14.3 %. Through in-situ diffuse reflectance infrared Fourier transform spectroscopy (DRIFTS) combined with alternating CH 4 /H 2 S exposure experiments, we successfully tracked the synergistic conversion pathway on the Mo/Al 2 O 3 catalyst. These investigations revealed that the formation of CH 3 S intermediates serves as a critical step facilitating CS 2 generation. This mechanistic insight not only advances fundamental understanding of H 2 SMR reaction pathways but also provides a rational foundation for designing optimized catalysts with enhanced stability and extended operational lifetimes. The identification of this intermediate-driven mechanism addresses previous controversies regarding CH 4 -H 2 S interactions and offers strategic guidance for developing efficient sulfur-resistant catalytic systems.

Sm 3 + /Sr 2+ -co-doped Bi 5 FeTi 3 O 15 (BFTO) nanocrystals were hydrothermally synthesized and embedded into a TeO 2 -based magneto-optical (MO) matrix using a melt-quenching technique. original BFTO nanocrystals exhibited 30–50 nm- hexagonal platelet-like morphology, which reduced to 20–35 nm after Sm 3+ /Sr 2+ doping due to lattice distortions and strain effects. The X-ray diffraction confirmed the crystal structure, while Raman and X-ray photoelectron spectra revealed charge redistribution and local asymmetry. Critically, Electron Paramagnetic Resonance analysis directly confirmed the presence of increased oxygen vacancies. These combined factors enhance the nonlinear optical (NLO) and chiroptical responses. The optimized 2 mol% Sm 3+ /Sr 2+ - Bi 5 FeTi 3 O 15 doped BFSS2 showed the highest third-order nonlinear susceptibility (χ (3) = 8.44 × 10 −11 esu), nonlinear refractive index (n₂ = 5.82 × 10 −10 m 2 /W), and nonlinear absorption coefficient (α 3 = 4.5 × 10 −11 m/W), demonstrating strong two-photon absorption (TPA) and Kerr nonlinearity. Photoluminescence spectra exhibited intense red emission at 610 nm and 645 nm, with BFSS2 achieving the highest circulary polarized luminescence (CPL) dissymmetry (g lum = −0.85) due to enhanced electric dipole –magnetic dipole interactions. Magnetic circularly polarized luminescence (MCPL) was significantly enhanced by Fe 2+ /Fe 3+ charge transfer and spin-orbit coupling. BFSS2 also exhibited the highest saturation magnetization (M s = 28 emu/g) and Verdet constant (28.3 rad/T·m at 633 nm), confirming strong magneto-chiral effects. These findings highlight the synergy of structural asymmetry, charge redistribution, and MO coupling in optimizing CPL, MCPL, and NLO properties, making BFSS2 a promising candidate for chiral photonic and magneto-optical applications.

Lignin, a three-dimensional network biopolymer, presents catalytic challenges due to its recalcitrant C(aryl)–O/C(aryl)–C bonds and diverse oxygen functionalities. To address this, we engineered Mo 2 C-decorated Ni-Mo bimetallic catalysts (Ni- Mo 2 C@NC-x) via dopamine-mediated self-assembly, achieving unprecedented 2D nanosheet architectures. The optimized Ni-Mo 2 [email protected] exhibited a 10.2-fold surface area enhancement (230.4 m 2 ·g⁻ 1 vs. 22.6 m 2 ·g⁻ 1 for Ni@NC), maximizing accessible active sites. The highly dispersed MoC 2 phase enhanced the graphitization degree, facilitated electron transfer while simultaneously increased Lewis and Brønsted acid densities. Furthermore, the Mo 2 C phase effectively enriched Mo 5+ species, which promoted selective cleavage of C–O and C–C bonds via oxygen vacancy generation. The synergistic interplay between the Mo 2 C phase and Ni metal centers achieved 95.69 % lignin oil conversion with 85.25 % cycloalkane selectivity. This work establishes a multifunctional catalyst design paradigm where tailored defect-acid cooperativity overcomes lignin depolymerization-deoxygenation trade-offs.

The nonisothermal crystallization kinetics of poly (vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) in PVDF/tributyl citrate (TBC) blends having undergone thermally induced phase separation were investigated through differential scanning calorimetry measurements. Ozawa theory, Mo's method and Kissinger model were used to analyze the kinetics of the nonisothermal crystallization process. The Ozawa theory failed to describe the crystallization behavior of PVDF in the PVDF/TBC blends, whereas the Mo model was able to describe the nonisothermal crystallization process fairly well. The crystallization activation energy was determined by the Kissinger method, and was in the range of 90–165 kJ/mol.

The global demand for sustainable and cleaner energy sources has driven more research on advanced desulfurization technologies from fossil fuels, in which oxidative deep desulfurization has become a hotspot. In this paper, the nucleation-controlled method was used to realize the uniform growth of porous amino metal–organic framework (MOF) on green-friendly cotton fibers (CF), and the pore structure and amino functional groups on MOF were beneficial to firmly anchor of P-Mo-W polyoxometalate (POM) active species. Thus, a kind of new supported P-Mo-W POM composite catalyst (POM@MIL-101@CF) has been obtained and exhibited excellent oxidative desulfurization performance for fuels. Under the optimal reaction conditions: T = 60°C, O/S = 7, two pieces of catalyst, the ODS efficiency of 0.5-POM@MIL-101@CF for DBT could reach 99.57%, with slight changes after more than 5 reuse times. Meanwhile, EPR experiments proved that ·O 2 − and ·OH radicals were both the main reactive substances, which promoted the remarkable catalytic desulfurization performance of POM@MIL-101@CF. Therefore, this kind of supported POM catalyst is simple to prepare and green-friendly in raw materials, as well as the strong binding between POM and CF with the bridging effects of MIL-101 makes it better adapt to the needs of actual industrial production and has a broad application prospect in practical desulfurization applications.

Modifying noble metal catalysts with transition metal oxides (MO x ) can markedly enhance catalytic performance through synergistic effects, yet precise spatial colocalization of active metal and promoter phases remains challenging. Here, we report the synthesis of KIT-6 supported Pd-MO x (M = Fe, Co, Ni) hybrid nanostructures via in situ transformation of bimetallic PdM nanoparticles under controlled thermal conditions. The resulting Pd-MO x /KIT-6 catalysts displayed superior activity and selectivity in the selective hydrogenation of acetophenone to 1-phenylethanol compared with monometallic Pd/KIT-6. Among them, Pd-CoO x /KIT-6 (Pd/Co=1:1) achieved the highest performance, with 99.7% acetophenone conversion and 98.2% selectivity, and demonstrated broad applicability for hydrogenating diverse ketones. Structural and kinetic studies revealed that interfacial Pd-CoO x sites play a pivotal role: Pd domains efficiently dissociate H 2 , while CoO x species enhance acetophenone adsorption. This synergistic interface-driven mechanism provides a general and costeffective strategy for the selective hydrogenation of multifunctional substrates.

Here, the Bi 24 O 31 Br 10 -based composite photocatalysts modified by bimetallic Bi and Mo nanoparticles (NPs) are designed and prepared (Bi-Mo-Bi 24 O 31 Br 10 ). 2D ultra-thin Bi 24 O 31 Br 10 nanosheets with suitable band gap and good chemical and optical stability are selected as the main catalyst to drive N 2 fixation by generating hot carriers. The Bi NPs in the Bi 24 O 31 Br 10 nanosheets serves as a buffer tank for electrons to improve the efficiency of electron transfer. Meanwhile, the Mo NPs serve as catalytic centers for N 2 adsorption and activation, working synergistically to enhance the overall reaction efficiency. Resulting from semiconductor-to-metal −to-metal electron transfer path and the Mo metal adsorption and activation mechanism, the nitrogen fixation rate of the Bi-Mo-Bi 24 O 31 Br 10 photocatalyst is as high as 191.2 μmol g −1 h −1 , and it is 7.2 times compared to pure Bi 24 O 31 Br 10 . This work creates a novel framework for the rational design of highly efficient visible-light-responsive nitrogen fixation catalysts.

Rare earth oxide (CeO₂/Y₂O₃) reinforced AlCrFeNiCu high-entropy alloy coatings with a Mo interlayer (designated as Mo/CeO₂-AlCrFeNiCu and Mo/Y₂O₃-AlCrFeNiCu) were successfully deposited onto a Zr-4 substrate via high-speed laser cladding. The microstructural characteristics and properties of the composite coatings were comprehensively investigated. The results demonstrate that the Mo interlayer alleviates the thermal mismatch between the substrate and the HEA coatings and, to a certain degree, counteracts the grain refinement effect induced by the rare earth oxides. Overall, it plays a critical role in enhancing interfacial structural stability, mitigating thermal stress, and improving overall coating performance. It effectively optimizes the coating-substrate bonding integrity, reduces susceptibility to high-temperature fretting fatigue and plastic deformation, and significantly lowers the specific wear rate. Furthermore, the Mo interlayer enhances the compactness and continuity of the interface, suppresses the formation of corrosive pathways, and promotes the formation of a thicker, more stable passive film on the coating surface.

To address space constraints in solid rocket motors, this study investigates Al–Ti, Al–Zr, and Al–Mo alloys. Their high density enhances energy release per unit volume. Multidimensional analyses—thermal oxidation behavior, ignition/combustion characteristics, and agglomeration properties—were conducted to elucidate how high-density alloys influence Al-based propellant combustion performance and energy release. Results show these high-density alloys exhibit shorter ignition delay time and combustion time, effectively increasing the propellant burning rate of propellants while reducing the pressure exponent. Titration measurements reveal combustion efficiencies of 84.28% (A), 87.33% (AT), 86.79% (AZ), and 85.91% (AM). Among them, Al–Zr demonstrates the most significant optimization effect on combustion performance. Due to the low ignition threshold, Al–Ti significantly suppresses agglomerate formation and accelerates the combustion. Meanwhile, Al–Mo enhances the transport efficiency of oxidizing gases through the phase-change sublimation mechanism of MoO 3 , indirectly boosting combustion efficiency. Furthermore, this work reveals the synergistic mechanisms by which high-density alloys optimize propellant combustion performance via multiple factors. The findings confirm the technical feasibility of simultaneously achieving superior combustion performance, high energy output, and effective agglomeration suppression, providing theoretical and technological guidance for developing advanced high-energy-density solid propellants.

The present study investigated a novel bimetallic Pt-Mo catalyst encapsulated within Silicalite-1 zeolite for propane dehydrogenation (PDH). The catalyst was synthesized via in situ hydrothermal crystallization, followed by direct high-temperature H 2 reduction without conventional calcination, leading to uniform encapsulation of Pt nanoparticles within the zeolite framework and simultaneous removal of the template and organic ligands. PDH performance was evaluated in a continuous-flow fixed-bed microreactor. Comprehensive characterizations (XPS, CO-DRIFTS, NH 3 -TPD, Raman, etc.) reveal that Mo incorporation in 0.4Pt@S-1 catalyst significantly enhances propane conversion while maintaining high propylene selectivity. Moreover, the bimetallic 0.4PtXMo@S-1 catalyst with 0.1 % Mo doping achieved an outstanding performance at 550 °C and a WHSV of 5.49 h −1 (propane conversion: 43 %, propylene selectivity: 97 %, propylene formation rate: 16.27 mol C3H6 ·g Pt -1 ·h −1 ). The prepared catalyst possessed favorable stability and regeneration performance, showing a deactivation rate of only 0.001454 h −1 after four reaction-regeneration cycles. This enhancement is attributed to synergistic effects arising from Mo incorporation, which promotes Pt nanoparticle dispersion, modulates Brønsted /Lewis acidity, and facilitates interfacial electron transfer between Pt and Mo species. These findings highlight the role of Pt-Mo interactions within zeolite frameworks, providing new insights for designing efficient and stable PDH catalysts.

O2 activation for the green conversion of chemicals has attracted a great deal of attentions in the field of chemistry. Developing catalysts for aerobic oxidation with both prominent instinct activity and desirable micro/nanostructure remains a tough challenge. In this work, hierarchical hollow Co–Ni–Mo–O mixed metallic-oxide nanotubes constructed by ultrathin CoMoO4/NiMoO4 nanosheets were fabricated using a sacrificial template method and employed as catalysts in aerobic oxidative desulfurization (AODS) of a model fuel. With air as the oxygen source, the catalyst demonstrated surprisingly high activity by achieving complete conversion of dibenzothiophene under mild reaction conditions. Besides, the catalyst demonstrated excellent stability on continuous repeated use. A further mechanism study reveals the electron coordination and transfer between different metal species as well as the activation route of O2. Based on the above-mentioned results, the catalyst which allows a good exposure of metal centers, a high concentration of oxygen vacancies, and the desired electronic structure is expected to serve as the high-performance AODS catalyst.

Molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) has attracted considerable interest due to its superior electronic and optical properties, which have seen promising applications in optoelectronics and catalysis. Chemical vapor deposition (CVD) has been successfully applied in synthesizing MoS2 on various substrates. However, it remains a great challenge to fabricate high-quality MoS2 sheets with well-controlled micro/nano size and homogeneous distribution over the functional substrates such as active metal oxides. Herein, we have developed a two-step synthetic strategy via depositing MoO3 first followed by subsequent vulcanization, to grow single-layer MoS2 on an atomically flat rutile TiO2(110) (r-TiO2(110)) substrate. This method not only very well controls the size as well as the spatial distribution of MoS2 nanosheets over the TiO2 surface but also averts the formation of contaminative species at the heterojunction while maintaining the atomic structure of the substrate surface. The extensive characterizations reveal that the formation of MoS2 derives from the sulfurization of the singly dispersed Mo6+ and Mo5+ species in the surface/subsurface region instead of the aggregated MoO3 patches on top of the TiO2 surface. Such a mechanism may dictate a general way for synthesizing high-quality transition-metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) over a variety of functional substrates.
