Surface interface regulation is an important research content in the field of heterogeneous catalysis. To improve the interface interaction between the active component and matrix, tremendous efforts have been dedicated to tailoring the morphology, size, and structure of composite catalysts. In this work, we report a confinement strategy to synthesize a series of core-shell catalysts loaded with metal oxides on titania nanotubes (TNTs), which were applied to the selective catalytic reduction of NO x with ammonia. Interestingly, the core-shell catalyst with confinement of TNTs exhibited the remarkable activity at low temperature region, N 2 selectivity and sulfur tolerance. Benefiting from the superior interfacial confinement characteristic of TNTs and Fe 2 O 3 , strong component interactions, the surface acid sites and strong oxidizability of MnO x were properly regulated, thus obtained the outstanding activity, N 2 selectivity and provide chemical protection to effectively prevent SO 2 poisoning. As far as the reaction mechanism, we found that the adsorption and reactivity of Lewis acid sites were the dominant factors affecting the activity in the NH 3 -SCR process by in situ DRIFT spectra. In general, our work provides an innovative strategy for constructing an TNTs-enwrapped nanocomposite with nano-confinement and core-shell structure to improve the low temperature SCR process.

Phosphorus is introduced to modify the Cu-SSZ-13 catalyst via incipient wetness impregnation, with P/Cu-SSZ-13 = 1 and 2 wt.%, and Si/Al = 4, for selective catalytic reduction of NOx with NH 3 . N 2 physisorption and XRD results show the incorporation of phosphorus as phosphate acid enhanced the hydrothermal stability of Cu-SSZ-13 significantly, during hydrothermal aging in 10 vol.% H 2 O/air at 750 °C for 16 h. NMR and Raman results suggest that phosphate ions migrate and coordinate with the framework-bonded Al species, forming a framework silicoaluminophosphate interface, thus impeding further dealumination and structure collapse. Before the hydrothermal aging, the isolated Cu 2+ ions partly interact with the phosphate ions, forming Cu-phosphate species and reducing the SCR performance. Nevertheless, the appropriate content of phosphate ions can prevent the structure collapse caused by the hydrothermal aging, remaining the isolated Cu 2+ ions as well as excellent SCR performance.

Sensitive nature of organic-inorganic hybrid perovskite material provides an opportunity to turn its electrochemical property . Herein, the conversion process from three-dimensional (3D) CH 3 NH 3 PbI 3 (MAPbI 3 ) microcubes to one-dimensional (1D) nanorod aggregates was reported by NH 3 post-treatment for 30 min, which enhanced the carrier mobility (36.91 cm 2 /V) and Li-ion diffusion coefficient (5.26 × 10 −9 cm 2 s −1 ) and narrowed the optical band gap (1.385 eV) of MAPbI 3 nanorod aggregates. The morphology evolution of 3D MAPbI 3 crystals and 1D MAPbI 3 nanorod rebuilding mechanism induced by NH 3 have been investigated and proposed. In addition, compared with samples without NH 3 treatment, 1D nanorod aggregates exhibited the improved electrochemical performances including capacity (from 53 mA h g −1 to 243 mA h g −1 ) and cycle stability (132 mA h g −1 , 300th cycle) which are ascribed to the improved electronic properties and special 1D microstructure.

Cu-SSZ-13/cordierite monolithic catalyst was prepared by in situ hydrothermal synthesis method. The physicochemical properties of the as-prepared Cu-SSZ-13/cordierite were investigated by X-ray diffraction analysis, scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, N 2 -adsorption, inductively coupled plasma, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and solid-state NMR techniques. The removal of nitrogen oxides (NO x ) from simulated diesel vehicle exhaust gas was performed using fixed-bed reactor. The effects of crystallization time and addition of HF during hydrothermal synthesis, reaction space velocity, and aging treatment of catalyst on the catalytic performances of NO x reduction reactions were investigated. The results indicate that the optimum crystallization time was 72 h. Highly crystalline structure of zeolite Cu-SSZ-13 was formed, in a close combination with a carrier, via one step hydrothermal process. Cu-SSZ-13/cordierite showed excellent DeNO x performance for selective catalytic reduction (SCR) and anti-aging properties in a simulated diesel exhaust gas under a high space velocity. At a high space velocity of 72,000 h −1 , the highest conversion and N 2 selectivity of 94% and 90%, respectively, were achieved. After the aging for 50 h at 720 °C, NO x reduction rate was still >80% in the temperature range of 350–550 °C. The larger height to diameter ratio of the same catalysts enhanced the NH 3 -SCR catalytic activity and broadened the active temperature window. The addition of HF increased the catalytic activity and anti-aging performance of the sample.

MnO x –CuO x /TiO 2 and MnO x –CuO x /Al 2 O 3 catalysts were prepared by sol–gel method and used for low temperature selective catalytic reduction of NO with NH 3 . The results showed that MnO x –CuO x /TiO 2 had better catalytic activity and SO 2 resistance than MnO x –CuO x /Al 2 O 3 in the temperature range of 100–250 °C. The properties of the catalysts were characterized by using XRD, N 2 adsorption, temperature programmed reduction (H 2 -TPR) and temperature programmed desorption (NH 3 -TPD). It was found that the support has a great impact on the acidity of catalyst; TiO 2 and Al 2 O 3 can promote the formation of Lewis acid sites and Brönsted acid sites respectively.

Ag-based catalysts show high activity in NH 3 -selective catalytic oxidation (NH 3 -SCO). The anchoring states of Ag species determines its valence and dispersion, thereby influencing the performance of Ag-based catalysts. Herein, we elucidated that the content and anchoring strength of the hydroxyl (OH) groups on support together affect the anchoring states of Ag. TiO 2 has few OH groups but high anchoring strength, the anchored Ag is in a highly dispersed oxidized state, while the unanchored Ag is aggregated in a metallic state (Ag 0 ), so it presents an unevenly sized dispersion and mainly in oxidized state. SiO 2 has abundant OH groups but weak anchoring, and can excessively agglomerate into large Ag 0 nanoparticles (Ag 0 NPs). Therefore, the introduction of SiO 2 can regulate the anchoring states of Ag on the TiO 2 support, making Ag presents highly dispersed Ag 0 NPs, thus following a reaction mechanism with lower energy barriers and significantly improving the NH 3 -SCO performance.

Ornithine is an arginine family amino acid and is not incorporated into protein. This study evaluated its role in growth, immune response and acute NH 3 stress tolerance of Penaeus vannamei . Six diets with graded levels (0.6, 0.9, 1.2, 1.5, 1.8, 2.1 g kg −1 ) of L-ornithine were formulated, and fed the shrimp for 8 weeks. The growth of shrimp was significantly improved with the dietary ornithine levels increased from 0.6 to 1.5 g kg −1 . Feed efficiency, protein efficiency ratio and protein productive value showed a similar trend to the growth performance of shrimp. Whole body protein and muscle lipid of shrimp were significantly increased in shrimp fed 1.8 g kg −1 ornithine compared to those fed 0.6 g kg −1 ornithine. The contents of several amino acids were increased with the dietary ornithine increased to 1.5 g kg −1 . Elevated levels of ornithine increased the Nitric Oxide (NO) content and suppressed arginase activity in the hemolymph. The relative mRNA expression of superoxide dismutase , heat shock protein 70 , dorsal and caspase 3 were increased with the dietary addition of ornithine, while the mRNA level of arginase was decreased with the increasing dietary ornithine levels. After 9 h acute NH 3 stress, mortality of shrimp reduced with the increasing dietary ornithine levels. The relative mRNA levels of superoxide dismutase , heat shock protein 70 , dorsal and catalase were increased with the dietary addition of ornithine after the acute NH 3 stress. The second-order regression analysis of weight gain and survival after acute stress revealed that the suitable ornithine content in the shrimp diet was 1.4–1.5 g kg −1 .

A CeO 2 /Zn 2 SnO 4 ammonia (NH 3 ) sensor with excellent sensing performance was prepared by a one-step hydrothermal method, and the effect of surface oxygen vacancies on the performance of the sensor was analyzed by density functional theory (DFT). Experimental results show that the construction of CeO 2 /Zn 2 SnO 4 heterojunction can improves the content of oxygen vacancies on the surface of Zn 2 SnO 4 , which provides more adsorption active sites for NH 3 molecules and effectively improves the gas sensing performance of the sensor. DFT results indicate that surface oxygen vacancies facilitate the charge transfer caused by the adsorption of NH 3 molecules by CeO 2 , thereby increasing the binding energy of NH 3 molecules. Additionally, the surface oxygen vacancies can cause the structure of Zn 2 SnO 4 to deform during the adsorption of NH 3 , leading to significant electron hybridization and thereby increasing the binding energy of NH 3 molecules. In addition, CeO 2 /Zn 2 SnO 4 sensor was successfully applied to detect the NH 3 gas concentration released by different levels of freshness of beef, providing an effective method for monitoring the freshness of high-protein foods.

By preparing gold nanoparticles-graphdiyne (Au-GDY) as sensing substrate and [Ru(NH 3 ) 6 ] 3+ -UiO-66-NH 2 MOFs (Ru-UiO-66) as signaling probe as well as linking the as-prepared Au-GDY and Ru-UiO-66 with the specific peptide (PT) of MMP-7 to form Ru-UiO-66/PT/Au-GDY, a cost-effective and sensitive electrochemical sensor was designed for the detection of matrix metalloproteinase-7 (MMP-7) which is an important biomarker for tumor and biliary atresia. The superior electrical properties, easy preparation, large surface area, and high stability of Au-GDY make it be a desirable substrate to immobilize PT. The unique structure of UiO-66-NH 2 is beneficial to assemble [Ru(NH 3 ) 6 ] 3+ probe and link PT. In the absence of MMP-7, the Ru-UiO-66/PT/Au-GDY modified electrode exhibited a prominent peak current of [Ru(NH 3 ) 6 ] 3+ , which is decreased after the addition of target MMP-7 since it can specifically recognize and cleave PT to induce the Ru-UiO-66 leave the electrode. The experimental results showed that the decrease of the [Ru(NH 3 ) 6 ] 3+ signal has a linear relation with the concentrations of MMP-7 in the range 0.01 pg mL −1 –10.0 ng mL −1 . By optimizing experimental conditions, the achieved detection limit (LOD) for MMP-7 is 5.0 fg mL −1 . The analysis of real serum samples has excellent accuracy. The simplicity of preparation and sensitivity make the Ru-UiO-66/PT/Au-GDY sensor a considerable promising analysis tool for MMP-7 detection. Graphical abstract

Ionogels have garnered significant attention in flexible sensing due to their outstanding mechanical properties, conductivity, and stability. However, establishing a robust and stable adhesive interface with various substrates remains a significant challenge. Herein, hydrogen-bonded ionogels were synthesized through the self-polymerization of hydrophobic ionic monomers. The introduction of hydrogen bonding effectively balances the intrinsic cohesive strength of the ionogels and their interfacial wettability, thereby enhancing adhesive strength. The optimal ionogels exhibited a tensile strength of 0.62 MPa, a modulus of 0.474 MPa, and an adhesive strength of 1208.3 kPa, surpassing most reported values for ionogels. Additionally, the ionogels retained superior electrical conductivity (44.78 mS cm −1 ) and excellent optical transparency (>80%). A strain sensor fabricated from the ionogels demonstrated excellent sensitivity and stability, enabling the construction of a smart sensing glove capable of precise gesture recognition when integrated with deep learning algorithms. Intriguingly, the ionogels also exhibited selective recognition of ammonia (NH 3 ), with a detection limit (LOD) of 65 ppb. Leveraging these advantages, the integration of the ionogel with a wireless data acquisition and transmission module enables rapid, convenient, and real-time NH 3 detection. This work presents an effective approach for developing highly adhesive ionogels, broadening their potential for practical applications.

Ammonia, a key biomarker existing in human breath, plays a critical role in non-invasive breath testing at room temperature. Among various ammonia sensors, reflective fiber-optic sensors based on surface plasmon resonance (SPR) offer significant advantages, including high sensitivity, small footprint, and portability, making them ideal for room-temperature gas sensing. In this work, WO 3 /SnO 2 nanocomposites were synthesized via a solvothermal method to obtain sensitive materials for room-temperature NH 3 detection. The WO 3 /SnO 2 nanocomposites were deposited on the surface of the SPR fiber by dip-coating to form a uniform gas-sensitive film. The sensor exhibited exceptional performance, achieving a high sensitivity of −10.84 a.u./ppm, a fast response time of 2 s, and a theoretical limit of detection of 277 ppb at room-temperature. The enhanced sensing mechanism is attributed to the formation of WO₃-SnO₂ heterojunctions, which facilitate efficient charge transfer and amplify SPR signals via dielectric modulation. This work highlights the potential of low-dimensional material-integrated optical fiber platforms for non-invasive medical diagnostics through breath ammonia detection.

The heterogeneity (acid sites) and stability (redox sites) of metal loss on metal-acid catalyst surfaces are the fundamental factors for the "trade-off" effect between activity and selectivity in the catalytic process with NH 3 as the activation precursor. However, the molecular-level impact of these surface characteristics on catalytic performance remains unclear and contentious. Herein, we propose a straightforward decomposition temperature control method, which operates below the single-layer dispersion threshold of solid sulfate/nitrate precursors. This method adjusts the micro-coordination electronic environment and work function of the active site by employing (2 H + )SO 4 2- species with negligible structural influence, thereby achieving precise control over the redox properties and acidity of metal-acid catalysts. In the NH 3 oxidation model reaction, ab initio molecular dynamics (AIMD) simulations show that even at 500 K, the (2 H + )SO 4 2- species can direct the dissociation of nearby adsorbed NH 3 into -NH 2 species. This is due to the (2 H + )SO 4 2- species can strip the electrons from the antibonding states below the Fermi level of the -NH 2 species via the high-position chemisorbed oxygen 2p orbitals, thereby reducing the electron state energy of the -NH 2 species through the -NH 2 -1s-2p-(2 H + )SO 4 2- bond, even these Brønsted strong acid sites does not participate in the low-temperature NH 3 oxidation. This prevents the over-oxidation of -NH 2 species, anchoring the nearby high-selectivity i-SCR intermediate. Diffuse reflectance infrared Fourier transform spectroscopy (DRIFTS) results confirm that abundant -NH 2 species at high temperatures can overcome the spatial steric hindrance of (2 H + )SO 4 2- species, enhancing the N 2 selectivity via the i-SCR mechanism (-NH 2 + NO x /Nitrate → N 2 + H 2 O).
