The high power density and intelligence of next-generation flexible electronic devices bring many challenges to fabricate flexible composite films with electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding effectiveness (SE) property and excellent toughness via a simple method. Herein, inspired by the layered structure and biopolymer matrix networks in natural nacre, nacre-like layered Ti 3 C 2 T x (MXene)/aramid nanofiber (ANF) films were fabricated through sol-gel, vacuum-assisted filtration, and hot-pressing. Three-dimensional (3D) interconnected aramid nanofibers networks between adjacent layered MXene result in an ultralong strain-to-failure of the film. Even though the functional filler MXene contents are as high as 60 wt.% and 70 wt.%, the strain-to-failure of the films could reach astonishing values of 18.34% ± 1.86% and 14.43% ± 1.26%, respectively. And the tensile strength could maintain about 85 MPa. Excitingly, with such a high filler, the film can also withstand double folding and vigorous rubbing without damage, which could better adapt to a harsh application environment. The result means that this work provides a convenient way to prepare other high functional filler composite films with excellent mechanical performance. The EMI SE values could reach 45 and 52.15 dB at 60 wt.% and 70 wt.% MXene in 8.2–12.4 GHz. Meanwhile, the films have prominent Joule heating properties, high sensitivity (< 15 s), small voltage operation (0.5 V), and high operation constancy (1300 s). Therefore, nacre-inspired MXene/ANF composite films in this work have ability to apply in many areas including communication technology, military, and aerospace.

Background : Cardiac hypertrophy is a prominent feature of heart remodeling, which may eventually lead to heart failure. Tongmaiyangxin (TMYX) pills are a clinically used botanical drug for treating multiple cardiovascular diseases including chronic heart failure. The aim of the current study was to identify the bioactive compounds in Tongmaiyangxin pills that attenuate cardiomyocytes hypertrophy, and to investigate the underlying mechanism of action. Methods and Results : The anti-hypertrophy effect of TMYX was validated in isoproterenol-induced cardiac hypertrophy model in C57BL/6 mice. After TMYX treatment for 2 weeks, the heart ejection fraction and fractional shortening of the mice model was increased by approximately 20% and 15%, respectively, ( p < 0.05). Besides, TMYX dose-dependently reduced the cross section area of cardiomyocytes in the angiotensin-II induced hypertrophy H9c2 model ( p < 0.01). Combining high content screening and liquid chromatography mass spectrometry, four compounds with anti-cardiac hypertrophy effects were identified from TMYX, which includes emodin, licoisoflavone A, licoricone and glyasperin A. Licoisoflavone A is one of the compounds with most significant protective effect and we continued to investigate the mechanism. Primary cultures of neonatal rat cardiomyocytes were treated with a hypertrophic agonist phenylephrine (PE) in the presence or absence of licoisoflavone A. After 48 h of treatment, cells were harvested and mitochondrial acetylation was analyzed by western blotting and Image analysis. Interestingly, the results suggested that the anti-hypertrophic effects of licoisoflavone A depend on the activation of the deacetylase Sirt3 ( p < 0.01). Finally, we showed that licoisoflavone A-treatment was able to decrease relative ANF and BNP levels in the hypertrophic cardiac cells ( p < 0.01), but not in cells co-treated with Sirt3 inhibitors (3-TYP) ( p > 0.05). Conclusion : TMYX exerts its anti-hypertrophy effect possibly through upregulating Sirt3 expression. Four compounds were identified from TMYX which may be responsible for the anti-hypertrophy effect. Among these compounds, licoisoflavone A was demonstrated to block the hypertrophic response of cardiomyocytes, which required its positive regulation on the expression of Sirt3. These results suggested that licoisoflavone A is a potential Sirt3 activator with therapeutic effect on cardiac hypertrophy.

Lithium metal batteries (LMBs) have been regarded as promising electrochemical energy storage systems due to the high theoretical specific capacity of metallic lithium. However, the uncontrolled growth of lithium dendrites, stemming from uneven lithium deposition, poses a significant challenge to their practical implementation. To tackle this issue, an ultra-thin composite separator, consisting of octamethacryloyloxy sesquioxane (MA–POSS), methacryloyloxy trimethoxysilane grafted holey graphene oxide (MPS–HGO), and aramid nanofibers (ANF), was prepared through a combination of phase transition-induced co-assembly and in situ polymerization techniques. Experiments indicate that the composite separator, with a thickness of only 3.8 μm, exhibits exceptional mechanical properties, specifically a tensile strength of 104 ± 5.1 MPa and a modulus of 3.23 ± 0.2 GPa, due to extensive hydrogen bonding and π–π interactions between the HGO sheets and ANF. Furthermore, benefiting from the synergistic effect of the abundant pores in MPS–HGO and the inhibition of stacking through the copolymerization of MPS–HGO and MA–POSS, the composite separator also demonstrates good electrolyte infiltration and a high lithium-ion transport number (tLi+ = 0.87), which not only acts as a physical obstacle but also efficiently regulates Li-ion transport to hinder irregular dendritic growth. The simultaneous regulation of Li-ion transport and mitigation of dendrite growth resulted in a long cycle life for Li|Li cells without dendrite deposition after 1500 cycles at a high current density of 5 mA cm−2. Moreover, the LiFePO4 (LFP)|Li battery with the composite separator displayed a capacity of 154 mA h g−1, a coulombic efficiency of 99%, and a high capacity retention of 99.6% after 250 cycles at 0.5C (85.7% after 1000 cycles at 2C). This work provides a promising new approach to fabricating high-performance lithium battery separators.
