The electromagnetic interference and heat accumulation pose a significant challenge for the traditional high-density single-function electromagnetic shielding materials in advanced flexible integrated electronics. Herein, nano-silver flakes (AgNFs, reflective layer), MXene (Ti 3 CNTx, loss layer) and silver nanowires (AgNWs, heat conduction and shielding layer) constructed ordered multi heterogeneous layers high-performance flexible electromagnetic shielding functional composites (AMA composites). Especially the composites exhibited outstanding electromagnetic interference shielding efficiency (EMI SE) of 70.96 dB even with an extremely thin coating of 25 g/m 2 , which is 350% higher than that of the commercial standard (20 dB). It is worth noting that the AMA composites also possessed certain qualities such as superior thermal conductivity , flame retardancy, chemical resistance, high-temperature resistance (25 °C–100 °C), and mechanical properties (tensile strength of 44.4 MPa, Young's modulus of 0.6 GPa). The composites display application possibilities in highly integrated advanced flexible electronic products and wearable electronic devices, as well as provide structural design and research ideas for the usage of a new MXene material (Ti 3 CNTx) in electromagnetic shielding composite materials.

Developing stretchable transparent electrodes that simultaneously achieve high conductivity, optical transparency, mechanical stretchability, and environmental stability remains a significant challenge. In this study, a fluorosilane-modified sandpaper template was employed to create a nanosilica-enhanced PDMS composite membrane with a wrinkled surface structure, which enhances the mechanical properties and facilitates the ordered assembly of the conductive materials. The high modulus of the nanosilica preserved the micronano structural integrity after demolding without sacrificing membrane flexibility, while the textured surface and relatively hydrophilic nature enable straightforward surface modification. Through spin-coating and thermal treatment, silver nanowires (AgNWs) and poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene):poly(styrenesulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS) were sequentially deposited onto the structured membrane, yielding a dense, well-adhered conductive network. The resulting flexible composite electrode retained optical transparency while exhibiting excellent electrical conductivity, enhanced stretchability, and outstanding environmental stability, underscoring its potential for wearable thermal management and strain sensing applications.

Thermally conductive fillers with heterogeneous structures can integrate the advantages of their constituent components to form continuous thermally conductive pathways within composites, thereby significantly improving their thermal conduction efficiency. In this study, “point-line” heterostructured silver nanowire@boron nitride nanosheet (AgNWs@BNNS) thermally conductive fillers were synthesized via surface functionalization. Subsequently, AgNWs@BNNS were incorporated into the matrix of cellulose nanofibers (CNF), and nacre-mimetic AgNWs@BNNS/CNF thermally conductive composites were prepared using vacuum-assisted filtration followed by hot-pressing. At an optimal mass ratio of AgNWs to BNNS of 1:1 and an AgNWs@BNNS mass fraction of 80 wt%, the in-plane thermal conductivity ( λ ∥ ) of the AgNWs@BNNS/CNF composite reached 5.55 W/(m·K), representing an increase of 386.84% relative to pure CNF. Furthermore, the composite exhibited multifunctional properties, including excellent temperature-voltage response (Joule-heating temperature of 134.5 °C at 2 V with a rapid response time of 10 s), superior thermal stability (temperature at maximum weight loss rate (T dmax ) of 311.63 °C), and robust mechanical performance (tensile strength of 20.80 MPa and tensile modulus of 1.17 GPa). The thermally conductive composites developed in this work provide a viable strategy for the design of efficient thermal management materials, shedding light on potential applications in thermal management for 5G electronic devices and next generation data computing network.

Wearable strain sensors are a compelling need for health monitoring while designing facile and flexible strain sensors with both super-high sensitivity and a wide strain range in an environment-friendly and scalable way remains challenging. Besides, the mechanism underlying these sensors is still insufficiently studied. Here, we propose a handy method to fabricate flexible strain sensors based on an electrospun thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) mat by coupling silver nanowires (AgNWs) and reduced graphene oxide (rGO). The TPU-based strain sensors with AgNWs and rGO alone exhibited high strain sensitivity and a broad working range, respectively, due to the morphological differences between the two types of nanomaterials. In contrast, the rGO/AgNWs/TPU sensor showed a synergistic effect on strain sensitivity and sensing range because of the interaction between the AgNWs and rGO, as well as the coupling effect arising from their assembly. For instance, the sensors with hybrid nanomaterials had ultrahigh sensitivity (gauge factor, GF ≈ 4.4 × 107) and a wider detection range in comparison with the counterpart strain sensors with AgNWs/TPU and rGO/TPU (both GFs in the range of hundreds). Besides, the sensors showed reliable responses to various frequencies and strains, as well as long-term stretching (1000 cycles). These strain sensors were applied to monitor human body motions, such as joint motion and muscle movement, which revealed their potential in healthcare and human-machine interfacing applications.

Due to the wider bandgap and low electron discharge capacity, the zeolitic imidazolate framework (ZIF-8) shows low photocatalytic performance compared with conventional semiconductor materials. To enhance the photocatalytic activity of ZIF-8, the ZIF-8@AgNWs composite is synthesized via the in situ growth method using silver nanowires (AgNWs) as the photo-enhanced material. The obtained ZIF-8@AgNWs exhibit the fully encapsulated shell-core structure of ZIF-8-AgNWs. The UV−vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS) analysis shows that the addition of AgNWs leads to a significant increase in light absorption of the ZIF-8@AgNWs composite, and the bandgap of the ZIF-8@AgNWs is 2.9 eV, with a significant decrease compared to pure ZIF-8 (4.96 eV). The ZIF-8@AgNWs-2 achieves the best photocatalytic activity for methylene blue (MB) degradation. Its degradation efficiency reaches 94%, and its apparent rate constant is 0.04371 min −1 . Herein, a novel strategy for the MOF-based photocatalytic materials with higher photocatalytic activity is provided.

In response to the shortcomings of traditional surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) substrates, such as short shelf life, poor uniformity, and low selectivity, this study innovatively proposed a three-dimensional composite substrate of CNTs/Ag/AgNWs/SiO 2 . This substrate demonstrates excellent SERS enhancement effects, with a detection limit of 10 −12 mol/L for the probe molecule Rhodamine 6G (R6G) and an enhancement factor (EF) of 8.947 × 10 8 . Further experiments confirmed the substrate’s superior uniformity and stability. The enhancement mechanism was investigated using both experimental methods and the Finite Difference Time Domain (FDTD) approach. When commonly used pesticide thiram was used as the target analyte, the detection limit of the substrate reached 0.1 mg/L, which is significantly lower than the pesticide residue standards of China and the European Union. Additionally, the genetic algorithm (GA)-optimized Back Propagation (BP) neural network was introduced for the quantitative analysis of thiram concentrations. The experimental results indicated that the GA-BP algorithm achieved the training prediction accuracy of 92.5% for thiram, demonstrating good network performance. This method shows good selectivity and has broad application prospects in the detection of toxic chemicals, environmental pollutants, and food additives.

The design and preparation of lightweight and flexible electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding composites with high efficiency and low reflection are critical to the electronic field. First, silver nanowires (AgNWs) were vacuum filtered on the electrospun thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) fibrous film. Then, by combining the adhesive with the electrospun silicon carbide nanowhisker (SiCnw) @TPU composite fibrous film, the asymmetric EMI shielding composite films with high electromagnetic shielding efficiency (EMI SE) and low incident power were obtained. The lower AgNWs-TPU layer provides the primary EMI SE, and the upper SiCnw@TPU fibrous film is used for electromagnetic wave absorption. This unique asymmetric structure, the synergistic effect of SiCnw's particular absorbing function and the excellent conductivity of the AgNWs layer make the film show high overall SE (SE T = 55.18 dB). In order to improve the absorption effect of the composite film, the number of layers of SiCnw@TPU was adjusted, resulting in a final reflection coefficient value as low as 0.55. This work proposes a new strategy for developing EMI shielding composite films with high efficiency and low reflection, serving as a reference.

A flexible piezoelectrically enhanced SERS sensor based on PVDF/AgNWs is developed for cortisol detection. • Mechanical bending of the PVDF membrane generates a non-uniform piezoelectric field that drives dielectrophoretic enrichment of cortisol. • The sensor achieves a low detection limit of 1.3 × 10 −10 M for cortisol in artificial sweat. • Preliminary human sweat tests show differences in SERS signals among sleep, normal activity, and exercise states. Wearable sensing platforms for non-invasive monitoring of stress biomarkers in sweat are highly desirable for personalized health management. This work presents a flexible surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) sensor with piezoelectric enrichment based on a PVDF/AgNWs composite membrane for sensitive detection of cortisol. The PVDF fibrous membrane is prepared by electrospinning, which endows it with a high β-phase content and good piezoelectric response. Under mechanical bending, the piezoelectric PVDF membrane generates a non-uniform electric field that polarizes the neutral cortisol molecules, driving them toward the AgNW-decorated SERS hotspots via dielectrophoretic forces, thereby achieving active analyte enrichment without an external power source. In artificial sweat, it shows a wide linear range of 1.0 × 10 −9 to 1.0 × 10 −5 M and a low detection limit of 1.3 × 10 −10 M, along with acceptable uniformity and mechanical robustness. The sensor was further assembled into a wearable patch and preliminarily evaluated using human sweat samples collected during sleep, normal activity, and exercise. Differences in SERS intensity were observed among these states. This flexible SERS sensor shows promise for non-invasive detection of cortisol in sweat and offers a potential strategy for wearable hormone monitoring. A flexible self-powered SERS sensor based on a PVDF/AgNWs composite membrane enables electrostatic enrichment of cortisol under mechanical folding, allowing sensitive and non-invasive detection of stress biomarkers in human sweat. Designing flexible electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding materials that transition from static shielding to dynamic adaptability remains a significant challenge in the development of next-generation electronic protection. In this study, we fabricated a reusable flexible polyimide (PI)/MXene/silver nanowires (AgNWs) (PMA) EMI shielding composite film by assembling MXene and AgNWs onto a shape-memory PI matrix using a vacuum-assisted filtration technique. When the ratio of MXene to AgNWs was 2:1, the composite film exhibited a maximum electrical conductivity of 132 S/cm and an EMI shielding effectiveness of 60.68 dB in the X-band (8.2-12.4 GHz). After further optimizing the material structure, the gradient-structured PMA composite film (G-PM 2 A 1 ) achieved a shielding effectiveness of 67.85 dB. The shielding performance remained essentially unchanged under harsh conditions, including ultrasonic cleaning, acid corrosion, high temperature (250 °C), and low temperature (−196 °C). Owing to the intrinsic shape-memory properties of polyimide, the film could recover its original structure after repeated deformation-heating cycles, maintaining an EMI shielding effectiveness above 60 dB. Moreover, the composite film exhibited excellent thermal stability, mechanical strength, and flame retardancy. Its lightweight, flexibility, and environmental stability indicate potential for localized EMI shielding applications relevant to electric vehicle battery systems, where lightweight, flexible, and environmentally robust shielding layers are required.

Advances in electronic device miniaturization and system integration, alongside rapid progress in wireless communication technologies, have significantly amplified electromagnetic interference problems. This development necessitates the creation of high-performance electromagnetic shielding materials. This study presents a new design for electromagnetic shielding composites comprising an asymmetric structure of cobalt-coated nylon 6 microspheres (PA6@Co), silver nanowires (AgNWs) and poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF). Specifically, PA6 microspheres were prepared using anionic reaction-induced phase separation, and cobalt was plated on their surfaces, thereby forming magnetic PA6@Co microspheres. The magnetic saturation intensity of these microspheres can reach 80 emu/g. The asymmetric PA6@Co/AgNWs/PVDF electromagnetic shielding composites with absorption-dominant characteristics were constructed using AgNWs as the conductive filler and PVDF as the matrix. The results show that within the X-band (8.2–12.4 GHz) range, the PA6@Co/AgNWs/PVDF composite material exhibits excellent electromagnetic shielding performance. Its maximum electromagnetic shielding efficiency (SET) reaches 48.1 dB, and the absorption coefficient (A) is 0.8, demonstrating a distinct absorption-dominant shielding characteristic. This asymmetric structural design strategy solves the limitations of traditional shielding materials and provides a new approach to developing environmentally friendly, efficient electromagnetic shielding materials.

With the development of 5G communication technology, electronic devices face the challenge of performance fluctuations when exposed to temperature-varying environments and multiband electromagnetic radiation. Addressing the limited performance of single-component materials, this article proposes a design strategy for synergistically enhanced composite films. Through the synergistic effects of multiple components and the regulation of multidimensional structures, the performance limitations of functional materials are overcome. In this work, a hierarchical aramid nanofiber (ANF)/silver nanowire (AgNWs)/multiwalled carbon nanotube (MWCNTs)-poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene):poly(styrenesulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS) composite film was fabricated via stepwise vacuum filtration. The bottom-layer ANF provides robust mechanical stability, and AgNWs in the interlayer form the primary conductive network. The top-layer MWCNTs-PEDOT:PSS with a “reinforced-concrete” structure significantly enhances the interfacial adhesion between AgNWs and ANF layers. This architecture fills conductive network gaps, creates additional pathways, and retards AgNWs’ oxidation effectively. The composite film retains excellent mechanical properties with a tensile strength of 231.67 MPa. It exhibits a rapid electrothermal response, reaching 122 °C from room temperature within 15 s under a low voltage of 4 V. Meanwhile, its electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding effectiveness in the X-band reaches 35.57 dB. It overcomes the performance limitations caused by uneven dispersion of traditional fillers and poor interfacial adhesion. These advantages endow it with great potential in various fields, such as smart wearable devices, aerospace engineering, flexible electronics, and medical applications.

A bioinspired honeycomb composite aerogel was fabricated by freeze-drying. • AgNWs-based conductive networks enabled stable piezoresistive sensing behavior. • PDMS impregnation improved mechanical stability and environmental resistance. • The composite elastomer exhibited antibacterial activity (∼95%). • Wearable sensors demonstrated high sensitivity, fast response and stable cycling. Wearable piezoresistive sensors show great potential for motion analysis, health monitoring, and human–computer interaction. However, conventional sensing materials often suffer from limited sensitivity, insufficient flexibility, poor environmental adaptability, and inadequate antibacterial performance for skin-contact applications. Herein, a bioinspired anisotropic AgNWs/MFC/SA composite aerogel (30 A-55MS) was fabricated by directional freeze-drying, using silver nanowires (AgNWs) as the conductive and antibacterial network, microfibrillated cellulose/sodium alginate (MFC/SA) as the biomass-derived polymer scaffold, and CaCl 2 as the ionic-gelation agent. The directional porous architecture was inspired by the transport-channel structure of taro stalks. Subsequently, polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) was introduced by vacuum-assisted impregnation to obtain the 30 A-55MS/PDMS composite aerogel elastomer. PDMS encapsulation enhanced the mechanical stability and environmental resistance of the elastomer, which also exhibited bacterial reduction efficiencies of 95.57% against E. coli and 95.21% against S. aureus . The wearable piezoresistive sensor assembled from the 30 A-55MS/PDMS elastomer exhibited a high gauge factor (GF = −20.792 in the 0–2% strain range), rapid response/recovery times of 65/40 ms, and stable cycling performance over 1000 compression cycles. Moreover, real-time finger, neck, elbow, wrist, and knee movements were successfully monitored. This work provides a promising strategy for developing multifunctional aerogel-based wearable sensors for health monitoring, motion analysis, and human–computer interaction.
