Designing a green and efficient catalyst to effectively degrade antibiotics is still one of the hot topics of research. Firstly, 1D nanorod Fe 2 O 3 /NaNbO 3 composite was successfully prepared by the two steps strategy through hydrothermal combined calcination method. In addition, the photocatalytic activity of the samples was evaluated by the degradation of tetracycline (TC) under visible light irradiation. The test results show that the 5% Fe 2 O 3 /NaNbO 3 nanorod material exhibits superior degradation rate of TC (89.4% removal efficiency in 90 min), and shows 5.62 times than that of NaNbO 3 nanorods. Under UV–visible light irradiation, 5% Fe 2 O 3 /NaNbO 3 nanorod composite with H 2 O 2 solution can degrade 97.4% of TC in 60 min, which is 12.1 times greater to that of the pure NaNbO 3 nanorods. The outstanding degradation performance may be attributed to the introduction of Fe 2 O 3 nanoparticles, which can activate H 2 O 2 more efficiently and produce more free radicals to degrade pollutants. At the same time, the 5% Fe 2 O 3 /NaNbO 3 nanorod composite can also act as an activate persulfate (PS) and generate SO 4 − to efficiently degrade TC. In addition, the catalyst also showed good performance in degrading TC in the presence of different anions and cations. Plant growth experiment ( mung bean seeds ) results showed that the degradation products have obvious lower toxicity. This study provides new domain about the designing of a photo-Fenton catalyst having dual ion synergy (Fe 3+ /Fe 2+ and Nb 5+ /Nb 4+ ) and full spectrum response.

Fe 3+ /Fe 2+ interconversion is one of the key factors for heterogeneous electro-Fenton degradation of organic pollutants. In this study, MIL-101Fe-derived carbon wrapping Fe 7 S 8 nanocomposite (Fe 7 S 8 /C-1-600) exhibits outstanding rhodamine B (RhB) degradation ability with extremely low iron leaching and high recyclable degradability within 60 min in a wide pH range. Moreover, Fe 7 S 8 /C-1-600 presents a much higher activity for RhB degradation than Fe 3 O 4 counterpart without sulfidation, which could be mainly attributed to the accelerated Fe 3+ /Fe 2+ cycling by iron with both multiple valences (Fe 0 , Fe 2+ , and Fe 3+ ) and sulfur species (S 2− and S 2 2− ) of the catalyst. The enhancement of H 2 O 2 adsorption and activation into OH on Fe 7 S 8 surface is confirmed by density functional theory calculations with respect to that on Fe 3 O 4 . Interestingly, SO 4 · − can be generated by reacting S 2 2− with dissolved O 2 and subsequently converted into ·OH, which further facilitates RhB degradation. These findings may shed a new insight into the potential application of metal sulfides for wastewater treatment.
Chemodynamic therapy (CDT) is currently constrained by insufficient endogenous H 2 O 2 , enhanced antioxidant defense, weakly acidic conditions in pancreatic cancer. However, the CDT's immunotherapeutic potential hinges on radical-mediated immunogenic cell death (ICD) induction, motivating development of potent self-cascading radical nanogenerators. Herein, this work engineers carrier-free nanoparticles (IAA NPs) through metal-organic self-assembly of Fe 3+ , artesunate (AS) and PD-L1 antibody (αPD-L1), exhibiting high drug loading (AS: 80.62%, Fe 3+ : 4.57%, and αPD-L1: 14.81%), excellent stability and GSH/pH-dependent drug release. IAA NPs achieve GSH-triggered Fe 3+ reduction to Fe 2+ , catalyzing AS decomposition into carbon-centered radicals, with this radicalogenesis being H 2 O 2 /pH-independent while concurrently depleting intratumoral GSH antioxidant. These free radicals effectively induce ICD via apoptosis pathway, eliciting CRT exposure, HMGB1/ATP release, and efficient DC maturation. In Pan02 tumor-bearing mice, IAA NPs efficiently triggers ICD, promoting DC maturation, intratumoral CD4 + /CD8 + T-cell infiltration, and markedly inhibiting tumor growth. Concurrently, αPD-L1 blocks PD-1/PD-L1 pathway and restores T cell recognition, thereby enhancing the antitumor immune response. In addition, the favorable pharmacokinetic profiles, coupled with inherent biocompatibility and biosafety, collectively enhance IAA NPs’ translational potential. Basically, IAA NPs represent a novel strategy to improve combination chemodynamic-immunotherapy through radical-induced ICD and PD-L1 blockade.
