The high-entropy materials have attracted rising attention for electrolysis application, which may have unusual performances due to the proximal configuration of dissimilar atoms. Meanwhile, design of nanostructure and fine-tuning of crystal structure could further improve their properties. In this work, amorphous FeCoNiPB high-entropy alloy (HEA) ribbons are prepared first, whose superficial species are conversed to FeCoNiPB/(FeCoNi) 3 O 4-x composite nanoparticles with a diameter of ~15 nm by the air after acid etching treatment. It is found that the obtained composite nanoparticles deposited on the surface of FeCoNiPB HEA ribbon with 3D porous array. Besides, the (FeCoNi) 3 O 4-x crystal that derived from amorphous HEA has rich defect structure, including lattice distortions, vacancy defects and discontinuous crystalline fringes. Hence, due to the advantages of heterogeneous nanostructure and defect activation, the FeCoNiPB/(FeCoNi) 3 O 4-x nanoparticle modified HEA ribbon has a high catalytic activity for oxygen evolution reaction, which need low overpotentials of 229 mV and 406 mV to export 10 and 100 mA cm −2 current density with a good stability.

Morphological design to expose more active sites and surface defect engineering to regulate the electronic structure are the two main methods to improve material properties. It is also well documented that metal sites in high valence states are beneficial to the OER process. Herein, we combine the advantages of the above three methods to fabricate extraordinary catalysts just by facile adjusting the Fe content. The catalysts with different Fe contents exhibit excellent activity and outstanding stability beyond the yardstick material (RuO 2 ) in alkaline condition. The resultant FeCoNi (oxy)hydroxide nanosheets is one of the most active trimetal-based oxygen evolution catalysts to date. Specifically, the resultant Fe 1.25 (Co 2 Ni 1 ) 2.5 (oxy)hydroxide can deliver a minimum overpotential of 212 mV to reach the current density of 10 mA cm −2 with a small Tafel slope of 52 mV dec −1 and a negligible activity attenuation after excess 72 h long-term test at 100 mA cm −2 . Most importantly, when use Fe 1.25 (Co 2 Ni 1 ) 2.5 (oxy)hydroxide as a water splitting anode, an electrolyzer delivers a current density of 10 mA cm −2 at a very low cell voltage of 1.51 V. This excellent performance is attributed to the large number of active sites exposed by the nanosheets, the active center of the catalyst to the higher valence state and the large number of oxygen defects produced. This work can provide more valuable insights to promote the development of the highly efficient oxygen evolution for applications.

To eliminate the increasing threats to human health and environmental safety posed by electromagnetic radiation, it is necessary to develop high performance and functionally integrated absorbers with superior mechanical performances. Herein, a 3D porous biomass cellulose nanofibril-based composite aerogel elastomer was first fabricated and encapsulated by Ecoflex, which was assisted by highly conductive carbon nanotubes and electromagnetic-functional carbon-shell iron-cobalt–nickel alloys with N-doped carbon. The resulting composite elastomer demonstrated excellent flexibility, high resilience, and fatigue-resistant compression. Additionally, the inclusion of Ecoflex provided tunable dielectric properties and abundant heterogeneous interfaces, enabling effective electromagnetic wave attenuation. It achieved a minimum reflection loss of −57 dB, corresponding to a super-wide effective absorption bandwidth of 7.41 GHz. Also, the enhanced elasticity endowed the aerogel elastomer with an effective piezoresistive sensing capability for sensitive and stable human motion monitoring. This unique strategy will provide new opportunities for broadening the application scenarios of functionally integrated composite elastomers.

The aim of this study was to synthesize a novel, non-noble metal-based layered double hydroxides (LDH) bifunctional catalyst for bipolar membrane water electrolysis (BPMWE) and to improve the stability of BPMWE with forward bias BPM. The FeCoNi-LDH/NF catalyst was successfully prepared using an electrodeposition method and tested in BPMWE. Low overpotentials for both the HER and OER were observed in the FeCoNi-LDH/NF electrode. Significant changes in pH and conductivity occurred in the anolyte and catholyte of BPMWE without frequently-inverted electrolyte within 192 h, resulting in an increase of cell voltage for hydrogen production. However, in the frequently-inverted electrolyte mode, where the electrolyte was periodically shifted every 24 h, excess H + in the anolyte and OH – in the catholyte of BPMWE were effectively neutralized by electrolyte shifting, resulting in stable pH and conductivity in the electrolytes and maintaining a stable cell voltage within 192 h. With 1 M KOH as the electrolyte, the cell voltage of BPMWE was only 1.58 V under a current density of 20 mA·cm −2 at 90 °C. Our study should provide insights into efficient bifunctional catalyst synthesis and operational stability control in BPMWE.

Constructing heterojunction is a good method to improve electrocatalytic activity because the heterojunctions can modulate the Fermi level and redistribute charges of the catalysts to accelerate electron transfer . In this study, Ni 3 S 2 nanocones were prepared on nickel foam (NF) by hydrothermal synthesis, and FeCoNi LDH/Ni 3 S 2 Schottky heterojunctions were constructed by electrodeposition of FeCoNi LDH nanosheets onto Ni 3 S 2 nanocones. Electrochemical results demonstrate that FeCoNi LDH/Ni 3 S 2 /NF is an efficient alkaline OER catalyst, the overpotential is 216 mV at 100 mA cm -2 , and it can maintain stable operation for 110 h. The battery voltage of the dual-electrode structure composed of FeCoNi LDH/Ni 3 S 2 /NF and NF at 1 M KOH is 1.61 V at 10 mA cm -2 . The results of XPS show that the FeCoNi LDH/Ni 3 S 2 Schottky heterojunction optimizes the electronic structure of the interface, accelerating electron transfer. Additionally, the enhanced electric field effect at the tip of Ni 3 S 2 further promotes electron transfer in the heterojunction structure. FeCoNi LDH/Ni 3 S 2 Schottky heterojunction exhibits significant OER activity, which provides a method for synthesizing transition metal heterojunction catalysts with low cost and high activity in the future.

Efficient low-frequency electromagnetic wave absorption remains intrinsically challenging due to the conflicting requirements of impedance matching and energy dissipation under long-wavelength conditions. In lightweight carbon-based systems, the lack of coordinated dielectric–magnetic response further limits attenuation at low frequencies. Here, a medium-entropy FeCoNi alloy is introduced as a multifunctional regulator to simultaneously engineer carbon structure and electromagnetic response. The alloy catalyzes low-temperature graphitization to construct conductive networks, while its intrinsic magnetic properties enable dielectric–magnetic coupling. This integrated regulation establishes a synergistic dissipation mechanism that optimizes impedance matching and shifts attenuation toward lower frequencies. The confined FeCoNi@N-doped carbons exhibit a minimum reflection loss of −62 dB at 6.1 GHz, with an effective absorption bandwidth of 3.6 GHz, covering 90% of the C band. By further tailoring dielectric dispersion, the absorption extends toward the S band, achieving −52 dB at 4.8 GHz and 99% absorption from 3.6 GHz to 4.0 GHz. Moreover, integration into porous composite fibers via microphase separation introduces additional interfacial polarization and multiple scattering, enabling −55 dB attenuation and regulated X-band response. This work provides a viable strategy for achieving low-frequency absorption in lightweight materials through coordinated regulation of carbon architecture and dielectric–magnetic coupling. The rapid separation of bubbles is crucial for electrocatalyst to achieve efficient oxygen evolution reaction (OER). In this work, a highly dispersed FeCoNi alloy catalyst was fabricated via electrodeposition, and its OER performance was significantly enhanced through a magnetic field-assisted strategy. By comparing catalysts with different substrate structures, it was found that FeCoNi/Cu 2 S@CF-W catalyst based on nanowires exhibits optimal OER performance, and the current density could reach 100 mA cm −2 only with an overpotential of 270 mV. Its highly dispersed structure effectively promotes the electron transfer between the electrode and the electrolyte, and exposes more active sites, resulting in the largest electrochemical active surface area and the lowest Tafel slope, thus accelerating the reaction kinetics. The catalyst retains excellent stability after a 55 h chronoamperometric test. By improving the magnetic moment arrangement of the catalyst and the mass transfer of bubbles, the magnetic field-assisted method enhances the adsorption of reactants and oxygen-containing intermediates, increases the number of active sites participating in the reaction, and solves the difficult problem of smooth desorption of bubbles. With the assistance of magnetic field, the overpotential of FeCoNi/Cu 2 S@CF-W catalyst is further reduced by 39 mV, requiring only 231 mV at a current density of 100 mA cm −2 , while maintaining outstanding long-term stability. This work provides a rational design strategy for for developing efficient and stable non-noble metal electrocatalysts, and offers a promising approach to boost the OER performance of electrocatalysts.

Nanostructured magnetic metal/reduced graphene oxide (rGO) composites, benefiting from well-performed losses including high dielectric/magnetic losses, have garnered considerable interest as advanced microwave absorbers (MAs) in recent years. Optional approaches of unique trimetallic/rGO nanostructures , however, are still limited to attain high electromagnetic (EM) absorption and broad bandwidth as well as improved impedance matching. Herein, porous flower-like FeCoNi/rGO nanosheets, synthesized via magnetic-field-assisted (MFA) reduction, presents facilitated microwave absorption performance. The zigzag-like attachments of neighbored nanosheets constitute the porous flower-like architecture; average thickness of the nanosheets is 5–20 nm. The reduction process, determined by appropriate GO dosage, plays a key role to tune geometry and distribution of the flower-like nanosheet structures. The optimal sample, owning a relatively high surface area (157.3 m 2 g −1 ), achieves an impressive reflection loss (RL) intensity of − 75.95 dB and its maximum effective absorption bandwidth (RL ≤ −10 dB) is up to 4.69 GHz, along with improved impedance matching. This work provides a facile and alternative route for exploring other novel nanoalloy-based MAs.

The 3D printing technique combined with electrostatic interaction fabrication approach effectively prevented the agglomeration of magnetic particles. • The MMN architectures can be printed on various substrates. • The MMN architectures show the layer tunable EMI shielding effectiveness. With the proliferation of diverse electronic devices, achieving effective electromagnetic interference shielding for equipment with complex geometries has become increasingly challenging. Conventional manufacturing processes for EMI shielding materials are often constrained by mold-dependent fabrication, which limits structural flexibility. In contrast, 3D printing offers a mold-free approach that enables the fabrication of customized architectures. However, the feasibility of 3D printing technology depends on the rheological properties of ink, which makes it difficult for magnetic particles that are easy to agglomerate to be directly used to prepare printable ink. Herein, the FeCoNi-LDH/MXene/nanocellulose architectures with customizable structures were fabricated using the 3D printing combined with electrostatic interaction strategy. MMN architectures can be printed on various substrates, and simple or complex shapes can be readily achieved through computer-aided design. The electrostatic interaction post-treatment prevented agglomeration of magnetic particles in the ink. By adjusting the number of printed layers, the average EMI shielding effectiveness of the MMN architectures can be tailored from 56.9 dB (1.8 mm) to 64.7 dB (4.1 mm) in the X band. Additionally, the absorption effectiveness (SE A /SE T ) ratio can be improved from 85.6% to 89.7%. The features position the 3D-printed MMN architectures as promising candidates for next-generation, customizable, and high-performance EMI shielding applications. To address severe volume variation upon charge/discharge cycling and inherent low electronic conductivity of silicon-based anode materials for lithium-ion batteries. A novel silicon‑carbon composite anode denoted Si@C@FeCoNi is rationally constructed, which features a dual protective coating consisting of polydopamine-derived N-doped carbon and FeCoNi ternary alloy nanoparticles. Polydopamine first undergoes self-polymerization on the surface of nanosized silicon and subsequently adsorbs Fe, Co and Ni metal cations. A one-step thermal treatment is then conducted under an Ar/H₂ atmosphere to realize synchronous carbonization and alloying. The as-prepared composite presents a distinct core-shell configuration, with silicon nanoparticles as the inner core and a homogeneous N-doped amorphous carbon as the outer shell. Abundant FeCoNi alloy nanoparticles with a face-centered cubic phase are uniformly embedded throughout the carbon matrix with particle sizes ranging from 5 to 10 nm. The obtained Si@C@FeCoNi composite delivers superior lithium storage performances with a high initial Coulombic efficiency of 91% and a high reversible capacity of 859.2 mAh g −1 after 350 long-term cycles at 2 A g −1 . Meanwhile, outstanding rate capability is realized, delivering a high capacity of 942 mAh g −1 at 5 A g −1 . The full cell paired with commercial NCM622 cathode demonstrates satisfactory cycling durability and application potential. Metal-organic gels (MOGs) are a category of metal-organic smart soft materials with large specific surface areas, loose porous structures, and open metal active sites. In this work, trimetallic Fe(III)Co(II)Ni(II)-based MOGs (FeCoNi-MOGs) were synthesized at room temperature via a simple and mild one-step procedure. Fe3+, Co2+, and Ni2+ were the three central metal ions in it, while 1,3,5-benzenetricarboxylic acid (H3BTC) served as the ligand. The solvent enclosed in it was then removed by freeze-drying to get the corresponding metal-organic xerogels (MOXs). The as-prepared FeCoNi-MOXs have excellent peroxidase-like activity and can significantly enhance luminol/H2O2 chemiluminescence (CL) by more than 3000 times, which is very effective compared with other reported MOXs. Based on the inhibitory effect of dopamine on the CL of the FeCoNi-MOXs/luminol/H2O2 system, a simple, rapid, sensitive, and selective CL method for dopamine detection was established with a linear range of 5–1000 nM and a limit of detection of 2.9 nM (LOD, S/N = 3). Furthermore, it has been effectively used for the quantitative measurement of dopamine in dopamine injections and human serum samples, with a recovery rate of 99.5–109.1%. This research brings up prospects for the application of MOXs with peroxidase-like activity in CL.

Developing cost-effective, robust oxygen evolution reaction (OER) catalysts for water electrolysis under harsh conditions remains challenging. Here, we report a one-step scalable synthesis of monolithic hierarchical FeCoNi (oxy)hydroxide nanotubes on Ni foam (H-FCNO(OH)@NF). This integrated electrode achieves exceptional OER robustness across a wide-temperature range (25-90 °C) and concentrated alkaline electrolytes (5–30 wt% KOH), delivering a low overpotential of 310 mV at 100 mA cm −2 and maintaining > 12 h stability at 100 mA cm −2 . Mechanistic studies reveal that Fe 3+ /thiourea co-mediates nanotube formation, while Co dopant-driven crystallization directs vertical nanosheet assembly. A full characterization on the catalyst after activation confirms preserved nanotube morphology, directly correlating structural integrity with catalytic durability. This work provides a facile, scalable route toward industrial-compatible OER electrodes for sustainable hydrogen production.
