Oil pollution poses severe threats to both ecosystems and human health. This study utilized electrospinning and carbonization processes to fabricate a SiO2-TiO2-C nanofiber membrane (STCNFM) exhibiting photocatalytic self-cleaning properties designed explicitly for oil-water separation. These membranes possess nanoscale rough structures, endowing them with superoleophilicity (0°) and hydrophobicity (138°). Addressing the limitations associated with traditional ceramic membranes, particularly in terms of stability and reproducibility, cyclic experiments confirm the significant stability and reproducibility of this composite membrane, ensuring reliable long-term applications for continuous oil-water separation. Leveraging the synergistic effect of TiO2 and the carbon fiber substrate, STCNFMs-5 demonstrate exceptional separation performance and notable self-cleaning capabilities. Following a 2-h exposure to ultraviolet light, the membrane's flux is restored to its original level. STCNFMs offer a promising solution for efficiently separating oil-water mixtures and emulsions, holding potential importance in water treatment and resource recovery endeavors.

Sonodynamic therapy (SDT) represents a viable approach to overcoming the limited ability of photodynamic therapy to penetrate biological barriers. However, pancreatic tumors contain a hypoxic microenvironment that limits the efficacy of oxygen-dependent type II SDT, complicating efforts to develop reliable, stable, and hypoxia-tolerant sonosensitizer. Herein, a tablet-like TiO 2 /C nanocomposite with a metal-organic-framework (MOF)-derived carbon structure was designed and found to be hypoxia-tolerant and stable in response to repeated ultrasound irradiation, enabling the TiO 2 /C-mediated generation of large quantities of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and thereby achieving efficacious type I SDT. Importantly, this nanocomposite continued to generate ROS in response to repeated ultrasound irradiation, and was able to induce tumor cell apoptosis via SDT-induced DNA damage in vitro and in vivo . This TiO 2 /C nanocomposite also exhibited good biocompatibility and did not induce any apparent toxicity in vitro and in vivo . Together, these data highlight TiO 2 /C as a valuable nanocomposite capable of facilitating repeated type I SDT, making it a promising tool for the treatment of hypoxic solid pancreatic tumors. Statement of significance In this research, a tablet-like TiO 2 /C nanocomposite with a metal-organic-framework (MOF)-derived carbon structure was designed, which exhibited great stability upon repeated ultrasound irradiation, hypoxic-tolerant ability and good biocompatibility. After ultrasound irradiation, TiO 2 /C could efficiently generate reactive oxygen species in an oxygen-independent manner, which overcame the limitation of pure TiO 2 nanoparticles . Therefore, it was applied to repeated type I sonodynamic therapy of hypoxic pancreatic tumor.

Sn-Based materials are attracting increasing attention for application in sodium-ion batteries (SIBs), due to the ultra-high theoretical capacity of pure Sn. However, low structural stability and poor rate capability restrict their further development. Herein, a facile method is reported to embed Sn nanocrystals into a TiO2/porous carbon (TiO2/C) composite by direct carbonization of a mixture of tetraphenyltin and a Ti-based metal–organic framework. The obtained cylinder-like Sn/TiO2/porous carbon (Sn/TiO2/C) composite is uniformly built from TiO2 nanoparticles, Sn nanocrystals and N-doped carbon. Importantly, pores, formed by the accumulation of nanoparticles, can effectively restrict the huge volume change of Sn during cycling. When evaluated as an anode in SIBs, the Sn/TiO2/C composite not only possessed amazing cycling stability (159.6 mA h g−1 at 1.0 A g−1 after 3000 cycles), but also exhibited excellent rate performance (172.3 mA h g−1 at 1.0 A g−1 and 114.0 mA h g−1 at 10.0 A g−1). These superior properties can be attributed to Sn nanocrystals which enhanced specific capacity and electrical conductivity, and the TiO2/C substrate which improved structural stability, facilitating charge transfer kinetics.

For non-magnetic MOF derivatives, the core challenge in current research is how to overcome impedance mismatch and enhance microwave absorption performance through precise control of the material’s micro-morphology and dielectric properties without introducing magnetic components. The incorporation of MoS 2 , a two-dimensional material with semiconductor properties and a layered structure, can significantly enhance the absorptive performance of such materials. In this work, a novel Ti-MOF derivative absorber material (TiO 2 /C@MoS 2 ) with hydrangea-like morphology is proposed by in situ growing MoS 2 with varying loadings on Ti-MOFs to overcome the aforementioned challenges. Specifically, the TiO 2 /C@MoS 2 composite material TM72 achieves a minimum reflection loss (RL min ) of −62.1 dB at a thickness of 2.05 mm, a maximum effective absorption bandwidth (EAB max ) of 5.88 GHz (corresponding to a thickness of 2.18 mm), and a radar cross-section (RCS) reduction of 16.6 dB m 2 . For TM71, the RL min is −52.82 dB at a matching thickness of 2.47 mm, with an EAB max of 6.93 GHz corresponding to a matching thickness of 2.28 mm, and it also achieves a radar cross-section (RCS) reduction of 17.95 dB m 2 . This enables TiO 2 /C@MoS 2 to fulfill the critical demands of electromagnetic wave absorbing materials (EMWAMs): “strong, broad, thin, and lightweight.” Furthermore, RCS simulations validate the actual applicability of this composite material. Consequently, this effort provides an innovative strategy for constructing next-generation EMWAMs featuring ultrathin structures, outstanding absorption performance, and broadband absorption capabilities. This study demonstrates that in-situ growth of MoS 2 nanosheets on non-magnetic Ti-MOF-derived TiO 2 /C constructs a novel hydrangea-like core–shell composite whose dielectric constant is precisely tuned by the semiconducting MoS 2 shell to overcome impedance mismatch, achieving a minimum reflection loss of −62.1 dB at 2.05 mm and an effective absorption bandwidth of 5.88 GHz without magnetic component. The synergistic mechanism—extended electromagnetic wave propagation paths within the hydrangea architecture, enhanced interfacial/dipole polarization at the TiO 2 /C–MoS 2 heterojunctions, and optimized dielectric loss balance—provides a viable strategy for designing next-generation lightweight, thin, and broadband electromagnetic wave absorbing materials. The utilization of titanium dioxide (TiO2) as a photocatalyst for the treatment of wastewater has attracted significant attention in the environmental field. Herein, we prepared an NH2-MIL-125-derived N-doped TiO2@C Visible Light Catalyst through an in situ calcination method. The nitrogen element in the organic connector was released through calcination, simultaneously doping into the sample, thereby enhancing its spectral response to cover the visible region. The as-prepared N-doped TiO2@C catalyst exhibited a preserved cage structure even after calcination, thereby alleviating the optical shielding effect and further augmenting its photocatalytic performance by increasing the reaction sites between the catalyst and pollutants. The calcination time of the N-doped TiO2@C-450 °C catalyst was optimized to achieve a balance between the TiO2content and nitrogen doping level, ensuring efficient degradation rates for basic fuchsin (99.7%), Rhodamine B (89.9%) and tetracycline hydrochloride (93%) within 90 min. Thus, this study presents a feasible strategy for the efficient degradation of pollutants under visible light. Keywords:titanium dioxide;NH2-MIL-125;N-doped TiO2@C;visible light photocatalysis;wastewater pollutants

The conventional method for synthesizing Ti 2 SC depends on the reaction between TiS and TiC, which requires the utilization of costly Ti, TiC, or TiS 2 powders. Utilizing TiO 2 as the raw material for the synthesis of Ti 2 SC enables the cost-effective preparation of this compound. However, the optimization of the TiO 2 /C/X n S m (sulfides) system is of utmost importance when aiming to synthesize Ti 2 SC through carbothermal-sulfurization of TiO 2 , as the formation temperature of TiS and TiC greatly depends on the X n S m . In this study, the identification of the thermodynamically dominant region for the formation of TiS and TiC in the TiO 2 /C/X n S m systems was conducted by utilizing various sulfides (63 types). Considering factors such as the challenges associated with removing by-products, accessibility, and toxicity, FeS 2 was ultimately chosen as a highly promising candidate. Thanks to the low melting point of FeS 2 , Ti 3 O 5 , the preliminary carbothermal reduction product of TiO 2 , has achieved rapid-deep deoxidation and phase reconstruction processes in the molten phase. Meanwhile, unlike the conventional solid-solid sintering reaction , which often results in residual reactants that are challenging to eliminate. This novel one-step phase transformation process that occurs in the molten phase exhibits minimal impurity phases, apart from the by-product Fe. Ti 2 SC with a purity greater than 99 wt% was obtained when the TiO 2 /C/FeS 2 was pickled to remove Fe after sintering at 1600 °C for 5 min. This work will provide the theoretical basis and a new path for the low-cost preparation of sulfur-containing MAX phases.

With the aim of enhancing the electrochemical kinetics and capacity of the TiO2 electrode for Na ion batteries (NIBs), we have designed a hybrid material of carbon-coated TiO2 mesocrystals anchored on reduced graphene oxide (TiO2@C-rGO). Such hybrid nanostructures are fabricated through a facile one-step route including in situ growth of oriented self-assembly of TiO2 mesocrystals on GO. TiO2@C-rGO possesses a very large surface area (279 m2 g–1), mesoporous nature, and single-crystal-like structure. It is also found that the capacity of TiO2 electrode for NIBs could be improved by carbon coating at a low current rate, but pure TiO2 shows better rate performance than that of TiO2@C. Remarkably, the enhanced electrochemical kinetics and large capacity can be simultaneously achieved by designing hybrid material. The hybrid nanostructures exhibit a highly reversible capacity of 300 mAh g–1 at 100 mA g–1, superior rate capability, and long-term cycling stability (a stable capacity of 159 mAh g–1 can be maintained after 1000 cycles at 1 A g–1). The superior Na ion storage of TiO2@C-rGO is largely ascribed to the robust architecture of well-dispersed carbon-coated mesoporous TiO2 mesocrystals anchored on conductive graphene network, leading to enhanced electrochemical kinetics and offering enough active sites for the Na ion to locate.

Metal-organic framework (MOF)-derived carbon materials exhibit significant advantages for microwave absorption applications, owing to their high electrical conductivity, structural tunability, and abundant intrinsic defects and heterogeneous interfaces. However, achieving an optimal balance between magnetic and dielectric losses remains challenging for most magnetic metal-based MOFs-derived absorbers. In this study, MIL-125(Ti) was prepared as a template, and TiO 2 @C-x composites were synthesized via a two-step pyrolysis method. Experimental results demonstrate that the pyrolysis temperature significantly affects the graphitization degree of the carbon matrix and the formation of TiO 2 nanoparticles, thereby playing a dominant role in the dielectric and microwave absorption properties of the investigated MIL-125(Ti)-derived core-shell TiO 2 @C composites. Notably, the TiO 2 @C-700 composite delivers an effective absorption bandwidth of 3.2 GHz in 9.2-12.4 GHz at a thickness of 2.01 mm. Therefore, the MIL-125(Ti)-derived TiO 2 @C composites fabricated in this study establish a viable and nonmagnetic strategy for designing tunable, lightweight, and high-performance MOF-derived microwave absorbers.

• Co/TiO 2 @C composites are derived from bimetallic MOF. • • Minimum reflection loss of −64.5 dB at 1.8 mm thickness is achieved. • • Effective absorption bandwidth of 3.2 GHz in X-band. • • Hierarchical structure boosts interfacial and dipole polarization. In this study, disk-shaped MIL-125(Ti,Co)- x precursors were synthesized via a solvothermal method with varying CoCl 2 ·6H 2 O content, and subsequently Co/TiO 2 @C composites were fabricated through a two-step pyrolysis process. The precursor morphology transforms from intact micron-scale disks into thinner flakes, and ultimately into fragmented structures with increasing the cobalt content. The pyrolysis temperature concurrently governed the composition of TiO 2 phase, the degree of carbon graphitization, and the distribution of nanoparticles. The optimized Co/TiO 2 @C(700)-2 composite achieves a minimum reflection loss of −64.5 dB at a matching thickness of 1.8 mm, and exhibits an effective absorption bandwidth of 3.2 GHz at 2.1 mm. The outstanding electromagnetic wave absorption properties stem from a favorable synergy between adequate attenuation and satisfactory impedance matching, supported by the conductive carbon network, abundant defect sites, multiple TiO 2 /carbon heterointerfaces, and hierarchical porous architecture. These results establish the cooperative regulation of electromagnetic wave absorption properties by cobalt content and pyrolysis temperature, offering a strategy for the design of MOF-derived lightweight absorbers with tunable electromagnetic wave absorption. Coating the carbon layer onto the surface of TiO 2 electrode is seen as an effective strategy to improve the electrochemical performance of lithium-ion batteries , particularly the reduced charge transfer resistance . The reduced charge transfer resistance was attributed to the chemical bonding between the phases. In this paper, however, we show that it is not only the chemical bonding but also the change of the activation energy differences that is responsible. Herein, we fabricate the carbon layer coated TiO 2 electrode (TiO 2 /C) and combine the recently proposed modified Planck-Nernst-Poisson coupled Frumkin-Butler-Volmer (MPNP-FBV) model to address the above-mentioned issues. By combining the experimental results with the electrochemical model, the charge transfer resistance and the interface behaviors are analyzed. The results show that the performance of TiO 2 /C electrode based cells is determined by the carbon layer/TiO 2 interface, while the cells based on TiO 2 electrodes are limited by the electrolyte/TiO 2 interface. Comparison between the electrochemical simulations and the experimental data indicates that this increased activation energy difference leads to the decrease of the charge transfer resistance. These results imply that activation energy difference across the interfaces can be a critical parameter for designing high performance batteries .

MgH 2 is recognized as an exceptionally promising solid-state material for hydrogen storage, but its high thermodynamic stability, slow kinetics, and cycling-induced particle coarsening remain major obstacles to practical application. In this study, a composite oxide catalyst, Nb 2 O 5 @TiO 2 -C, was synthesized via a hydrothermal route by loading nano-Nb 2 O 5 onto a TiO 2 -C support derived from a Ti-based metal- organic framework. Doping with Nb 2 O 5 @TiO 2 -C markedly enhances the hydrogen storage performance of MgH 2 . Carbon within the support effectively suppresses nanoparticle agglomeration, while the catalyst is partially reduced to low-valence species during de/rehydrogenation cycles, both contributing to the enhanced performance. The MgH 2 -7 wt.% Nb 2 O 5 @TiO 2 -C composite starts dehydrogenating at 210.6 °C. At 300 °C, it rapidly releases over 6 wt% hydrogen within 5 min. The dehydrogenated sample also exhibits fast absorption kinetics, absorbing 6 wt% hydrogen within 1 min at 200 °C under 30 bar H 2 . Moreover, the system shows excellent cycling stability, retaining a hydrogen capacity of 6.6 wt% after 20 cycles.

Spinel lithium titanate (Li4Ti5O12, LTO) is one of the most appealing anode materials for lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) due to its long cycle life and high safety performance. However, its low intrinsic electronic conductivity limits its high rate capability. Herein, we develop a novel one-pot in situ molecular self-assembly approach to prepare a dual N- and anatase-TiO2- modified Li4Ti5O12/C nanorod material (NT-LTO/C). Polypyrrole (PPy), as a pivotal carbon and nitrogen source, is introduced to confine the morphology and particle size of the NT-LTO/C anode. Due to the synergistic effects of the multilevel particle structure, uniform carbon coating, N doping, anatase TiO2 pseudopotential effect and such benefits, the NT-LTO/C electrode delivers a high reversible capacity of 196.3 mA h g−1 at 0.5C, and it maintains 105.5 mA h g−1 even at an ultrahigh rate of 100C with progressive cycling of more than 3000 cycles. In addition, the three electrode pouch full-cell shows much smaller polarization than the pristine one. This novel and facile molecular self-assembly method has broad advanced functional material applications including for ceramics, polymer/carbon-based metal alloys and inorganic non-metallic materials.
