High-performance electromagnetic wave absorbing materials have aroused widespread interest, but their synthesis is still a tremendous challenge. Here, we demonstrated the multifunctional electromagnetic absorbing characteristics of magnetic cobalt nanoparticles suspended in carbon nanotubes/expanded graphite (Co/CNTs/EG) porous composites. The well-designed multi-component and novel nano-micro porous structure endowed Co/CNTs/EG porous composites with an enhanced electromagnetic wave absorption performance. As expected, a high reflection loss of −67.2 dB, an ultrathin thickness of 1.4 mm, a broad effect absorption bandwidth of 5.1 GHz, and an ultra-low filler loading of 3 wt% were achieved. The underlying microwave absorption mechanism was synergistic effects between conduction loss caused by electron transmission in the 3D conductive network, dielectric loss attributed to dipole and interface polarization in the porous structure, magnetic loss originating from the magnetic resonance of Co nanoparticles, and multiple reflections in the porous framework. In addition, the Co/CNTs/EG porous composites exhibited favorable waterproof, flame retardant, thermal insulation, and infrared shielding functions. Therefore, we report a flexible development strategy of novel porous composites with multifunctional and efficient electromagnetic wave absorption performances.

For the past few years, intercalation-type niobium-based oxides have attracted tremendous attention due to their excellent electrochemical performance, but their rate performance and stability still need to be improved. Here, we synthesized P4Nb2O15 by a simple solvothermal method, used it as anode material in lithium-ion batteries for the first time, and further prepared P4Nb2O15@CNTs on the basis of previous research. The results indicated that P4Nb2O15@CNTs delivered a high reversible lithium storage capacity (563.3 mAh g–1 at 0.1C), with excellent rate performance (115.9 mAh g–1 at a high rate of 50C) and outstanding cycle performance of 0.0178% of capacity lost per cycle after 500 cycles at 10C. Moreover, it showed a significant interlayer pseudocapacitive contribution of 88.5% at 1.0 mV s–1. All of these advantages indicate that P4Nb2O15@CNTs have a wide application prospect as anode material in lithium-ion batteries.

A novel nanostructured carbon/TiO2 nanocomposite photocatalyst is firstly fabricated via a facile hydrothermal process by using fullerene (C60) decorated single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) as carbon source, which is denoted as C60-d-CNTs. The obtained nanostructured carbon/TiO2 nanocomposites are characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM), UV-vis diffuse reflectance spectra (DRS), Raman spectra, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and photoluminescence spectra (PL), and then are used as catalysts for photocatalytic hydrogen production. It is found that the kinds and contents of various carbon nanostructured materials (such as SWCNTs, C60 and C60-d-CNTs) coupled with TiO2 can significantly enhance the photoactivity for hydrogen production, and the 5 wt% C60-d-CNTs/TiO2 nanocomposite exhibits the best performance. Experimental results suggest that the C60-d-CNTs as a novel carbon nanostructured material could be more beneficial for the photogenerated carrier separation than SWCNTs and C60 when these carbon nanostructured materials are coupled with TiO2.

The discharge of oily wastewater and industrial wastewater poses serious threats to aquatic ecosystems and human health, highlighting the urgent need for advanced antifouling membranes capable of efficient oil-in-water emulsion separation. Unlike conventional surface coating or single-component modification strategies, herein, we report a facile strategy to transform hydrophobic PVDF membranes into superhydrophilic ones with hierarchically gradient pores. This approach distinctively exploits mussel-inspired L-3,4-dihydroxyphenylalanine (L-DOPA), rather than dopamine, in combination with polyethyleneimine (PEI) co-deposition and carbon nanotubes (CNTs) nanostructuring, forming a highly stable, multifunctional hydrophilic network that anchors CNTs while synergistically regulating pore size, pore distribution, and surface wettability. As a result, the average pore size decreased from 0.4075 μm to 0.2883 μm, enhancing selective permeability. The optimized L-DOPA/PEI/CNTs/PVDF membrane exhibited an ultrahigh pure water flux of 5367.9 L m −2 h −1 bar −1 and achieved over 99 % rejection of diverse surfactant-stabilized emulsions. Moreover, the membrane demonstrated excellent antifouling, consistently maintaining ≥98 % oil rejection over seven cycles, attributed to the formation of a compact hydration layer. By integrating bio-inspired adhesion chemistry with nanostructured pore-gradient engineering, this study provides a scalable and environmentally relevant route for fabricating high-performance separation membranes, offering strong potential for sustainable oily wastewater treatment and resource recovery applications.

Se-doped high-entropy MXene@CNT with abundant oxygen vacancies is fabricated as bifunctional electrocatalyst. • The composite accelerates polysulfide redox and suppresses Li dendrites via optimized electronic and 3D conductive structure. • Cells achieve ultra-stable long cycling, high sulfur loading performance and a 2.0 Ah pouch cell. Lithium–sulfur batteries (LSBs) hold exceptional promise for high-energy-density energy storage, yet their practical deployment is severely hindered by sluggish sulfur redox kinetics, polysulfide shuttling, and uncontrolled lithium dendrite growth. High-entropy MXene exhibits unique compositional diversity and synergistic electronic effects, but their catalytic activity remain insufficient for robust polysulfide regulation. Herein, we develop a selenium-doped high-entropy MXene@CNT (Se-HE-MX@C) bifunctional electrocatalyst with Se-induced vacancy defects to synergistically regulate cathode and anode redox reactions. Se-doping generates abundant cation vacancies and optimizes the electronic structure, strengthening polysulfide chemisorption and lowering the energy barrier for polysulfide conversion. The CNT interwoven network constructs a continuous 3D conductive pathway, accelerating electron/ion diffusion and mitigating structural degradation. Electrochemical and in-situ characterizations reveal that Se-HE-MX@C significantly promotes Li 2 S nucleation/decomposition, enhances Li + diffusion kinetics, and induces uniform lithium deposition. As a result, the LSB with Se-HE-MX@C-modified separator exhibits excellent rate performance and ultralong cycling stability (a low-capacity decay rates of merely 0.047% per cycle after 700 cycles at 1.0C). Moreover, The Se-HE-MX@C-based pouch cell delivers an ultra-high capacity of ∼2.0 Ah. This work elucidates the structure–activity relationship between defect engineering, high-entropy regulation, and bifunctional electrocatalysis, offering a rational design principle for advanced electrocatalysts in high-performance LSBs. In the context of escalating global environmental concerns, the pursuit of highly efficient photocatalysts has emerged as a prominent research focus. In this study, PBA-derived CoS₂/FeS was anchored to b-CNTs through hydrothermal and calcination techniques to serve as a Photo-Fenton-like catalyst. The CoS 2 /FeS/b-CNTs exhibited remarkable photocatalytic Fenton activity. Under xenon lamp irradiation, an impressive degradation efficiency of 97% for RhB was achieved within a mere 210 s, concomitantly exhibiting extensive adaptability across a wide pH range of pollutant solutions. Even after three consecutive cycles and magnetic recovery separation procedures, the degradation efficiency of RhB still remains at a high degradation efficiency of 94.6%. Free radical capture experiments unambiguously indicated that singlet oxygen ( 1 O 2 ) and hydroxyl radicals (•OH) played pivotal roles as the principal active species during the degradation process. This research not only pioneers a novel avenue for the design of PBA-derived layered nanostructured photocatalysts but also holds significant potential for future applications in Photo-Fenton-like degradation of recalcitrant organic pollutants, heralding a new era in environmental remediation technology.

Simultaneous sensing of pressure and temperature is essential
for
next-generation flexible electronics and electronic skin. However,
signal crosstalk between different stimuli and the reliance on complex
signal-processing circuits remain major challenges in multifunctional
sensor design. Herein, a self-decoupled flexible pressure–temperature
dual-modal sensor is developed by integrating a piezoresistive pressure-sensitive
layer composed of silicone rubber (SR) and multiwalled carbon nanotubes
(MWCNTs) with a thermoelectric temperature-sensitive layer based on
poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) and poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene):polystyrenesulfonate
(PEDOT:PSS). Benefiting from the physical separation of the piezoresistive
and thermoelectric sensing mechanisms, pressure and temperature are
independently converted into resistance and voltage signals, respectively,
enabling intrinsic signal decoupling without additional signal-processing
circuits or postprocessing algorithms. The sensor exhibits favorable
pressure-sensing performance, including a high sensitivity of 16.999
kPa –1 (0–2.06 kPa), a wide detection range
of 0–103.31 kPa, fast response/recovery times (50 ms/50 ms),
and outstanding durability over 6000 loading cycles while remaining
insensitive to temperature variation. Meanwhile, the thermoelectric
unit exhibits a Seebeck coefficient of 1.233 μV/K, a temperature
resolution of 0.5 K, and favorable linearity and output stability.
Moreover, the thermoelectric output remains nearly unchanged under
varying pressure conditions, while the pressure response is maintained
over different temperature environments, demonstrating favorable self-decoupling
capability with negligible signal crosstalk. The proposed design strategy
provides a simple and reliable approach for constructing multifunctional
flexible sensors and shows promising potential for battery temperature
monitoring, wearable healthcare, human–machine interaction,
and intelligent electronic skin.

Microwaves serve as a non-contact external energy source capable of enabling simultaneous multi-point ignition and enhanced combustion of energetic materials (EMs) by indirectly coupling electromagnetic energy into both their condensed phase and flame zone via microwave-to-heat conversion materials, which offers the potential to break through the intrinsic chemical energy limitation of EMs. However, the low dielectric property of EMs leads to poor microwave coupling efficiency. Herein, taking 1,3,5,7-Tetraaza-1,3,5,7-tetranitrocyclooctane (HMX) as a typical inert explosive, a C-CoFe alloy/CNTs dielectric-magnetic heterojunction network (NCCF) derived from CoFe-MOF was coated on HMX via recrystallization, where NCCF serves as a microwave-to-heat bridge at the interface and acts as a high-energy fuel that intensifies combustion. XPS revealed that recrystallization promotes the intermolecular coupling and interfacial polarization between NCCF and HMX. HMX@NCCF-8 (800 °C-derived alloy, 15 wt%) achievers a shortest ignition delay of 17.63 ms, breaking through the limitation that pure HMX cannot be ignited under identical microwave irradiation. Thermal analysis indicated that the recrystallization strategy and alloy serving as a high-energy fuel promote stable self-sustained combustion of HMX with enhanced flame brightness. Electromagnetic characteristics indicate that HMX@NCCF-8 and HMX@NCCF-9 enhanced the intrinsic microwave absorption of HMX (-1.04 dB), improving minimum reflection loss (RL min ) by ~2000% and ~3300% with effective absorption bandwidths (EABs) of 4.2 and 2.9 GHz, respectively. This electromagnetic coupling paradigm offers a universal route for tunable microwave responses in propellants and explosives.

Phenolic compounds are widespread industrial pollutants that threaten aquatic ecosystems and human health. Herein, carbon nanotube-supported Fe₃O₄-loaded nano-zero-valent iron (CNTs-Fe₃O₄-nZVI) composites were synthesized via liquid-phase reduction and employed as heterogeneous Fenton-like catalysts with H₂O₂ to degrade bisphenol F (BPF) and bisphenol S (BPS) in aqueous solution. The effects of H₂O₂ concentration, catalyst dosage, and initial pH on degradation efficiency were systematically investigated, and reaction conditions were optimized using the Box-Behnken response surface methodology (RSM). Results showed that at 25 °C, pH 3.0, a catalyst dosage of 0.8 g L⁻ 1 , and H₂O₂ concentrations of 10 mmol L⁻ 1 (for BPF) and 15 mmol L⁻ 1 (for BPS), the degradation efficiencies of BPF and BPS reached 98.03% and 94.30%, respectively, in good agreement with the model-predicted values (96.94% and 93.92%). After four reuse cycles, the degradation efficiencies remained above 70%, confirming good stability and reusability. Isotherm data fitted the Freundlich model better than the Langmuir model for both BPF ( R 2 = 0.9484) and BPS ( R 2 = 0.9091), with negative intercepts indicating multilayer adsorption on heterogeneous surfaces. The adsorption affinity for BPF ( K F = 8.25) was nearly double that for BPS ( K F = 4.37), revealing structure-dependent interfacial interactions. Radical quenching and mass spectrometry indicated HO· oxidation and benzene ring cleavage as the primary BPS degradation pathways. The optimized conditions were determined as H₂O₂ 10.74 mmol L⁻ 1 , catalyst 0.733 g L⁻ 1 , and pH 2.836 by RSM. TOC removal reached 64.22% for BPF and 67.97% for BPS, and ecotoxicity assessment confirmed that the degradation intermediates exhibited substantially reduced toxicity, demonstrating effective detoxification.

The development of advanced thermal management materials with combined high thermal conductivity and effective infrared stealth remains a critical challenge for aerospace avionics. We fabricate a superhydrophobic SnO₂/carbon nanotube (CNTs) composite coating on aluminum substrates via a facile spraying method. The optimized composite exhibits a water contact angle of 159.4°, attributed to the hierarchical micro−/nanostructure formed by SnO₂ particles and CNT networks. The interconnected CNT network establishes efficient in-plane thermal pathways within the coating. The overall effective thermal conductivity has increased, mainly due to improvements in carbon nanotube permeation networks and interfacial heat transfer. Spectral emissivity measurements in the 8–14 μm atmospheric window show that the coating reduces the average emissivity from 0.85 to 0.51, corresponding to a theoretical reduction in radiative signal of approximately 40%, thereby significantly lowering the infrared signature. The coating also demonstrates excellent environmental durability, retaining hydrophobicity under mechanical abrasion, extreme pH, and temperatures up to 140 °C. This multifunctional coating shows promising potential for thermal management, infrared stealth, and surface protection in harsh operational environments.

A sensitive electrochemical sensor was proposed for neohesperidin dihydrochalcone (NHDC) detection using copper oxide/ zinc imidazole framework 8@ carbon nanotubes modified glassy carbon electrode (CuO/ZIF-8@CNTs GCE). The multi-component CuO/ZIF-8@CNTs GCE was prepared by two-step drop-casting method and characterized by Field-emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM). The effective combination of CuO and ZIF-8@CNTs enhanced the electron transfer and catalytic activity of the electrode and greatly strengthened the oxidation current of NHDC, which was about 5.6-fold that of the CuO GCE and 2.3-fold that of the ZIF-8@CNTs GCE. Inspired by this, the CuO/ZIF-8@CNTs GCE was used for NHDC detection and some crucial parameters were optimized. The reaction mechanism at CuO/ZIF-8@CNTs GCE was confirmed to involve two-step two-electron process by cyclic voltammetry (CV) measurements. Finally, the sensor achieved NHDC detection ranging from 0.03 to 10 μM using differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) technique, with a detection limit of 16.0 nM. The satisfactory recoveries of 92.9–107.8 % in liquor samples also demonstrated its practicability in actual samples, matching well with that of high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). This work not only designs a simple detection method for NHDC but also opens up a paradigm for leveraging multi-component MOF composite electrode materials for food safety monitoring.
