TiO 2 /RGO composite aerogels with TiO 2 nanostructures grown on interconnected three-dimensional RGO porous networks were fabricated via a facile one-pot hydrothermal method. The as-obtained composite aerogels show controllable and continuously tunable surface wettability from super-hydrophobic to super-hydrophilic depending on the amount of incorporated TiO 2 . The TiO 2 /RGO composite aerogels with varied surface wettability can selectively degrade different pollutants in aqueous systems. The capability of forming the TiO 2 /RGO aerogels with tunable surface wettability for selective photocatalysis is important since such materials are especially useful in some systems which contain extremely poisonous contaminants in low concentration together with large quantity of un-poisonous chemicals.

Nanocomposites composed of two or more components with desirable performance have attracted tremendous attention, mainly due to the synergic effect between the components. The effective combination of ZnO and reduced graphene oxide would lead to ameliorate the photocatalytic performance. To enhance applicability of semiconductor photocatalytic, the composites used should be good interfacial contact governed by suitable particle size distribution. Herein we aim to fabricate the different crystallize size of ZnO nanoparticles (NPs) in ZnO–reduced graphene oxide (ZnO–rGO) nanocomposites by sonochemical synthesis and subsequent facile drying treatment method. The Zn precursor, Zn(Ac) 2 , with a plenty of functional groups, was used as a starting source for both reduction of graphene oxide and formation of ZnO on rGO sheets through chemical bonds without the addition of hazardous reducing agents. LiOH was chosen as an assistive reagent to enhance the complete reaction between Zn(Ac) 2 and GO in the formation of ZnO–rGO nanocomposites. More remarkably, drying condition has the great influence on the crystallize size of ZnO NPs in as-prepared ZnO–rGO nanocomposites. It is found that ZnO–rGO nanocomposites dried at −50 °C (freeze drying) show the highest photocatalytic efficiency in the degradation of rhodamine B (RhB) as compared to ZnO–rGO nanocomposites by other drying conditions under visible-light irradiation. Correlating the crystallize size obtained by different drying temperatures with the photocatalytic activity, it is probed that the smaller crystallize size in ZnO–rGO nanocomposites enhances the interfacial contact and a chemical bonding between rGO and ZnO NPs leading to the effective separation of electrons and holes. In addition, the O
·− 2
anion was determined to be the main active oxidant by free radicals trapping experiment and a photodegradation mechanism of ZnO–rGO nanocomposites over rhodamine B (RhB) was proposed based on our observations.

We report a simple and facile strategy for fabricating RGO-g-SSS/CdTe graphene/quantum dot nanocomposites via electrostatic interactions at room temperature. Firstly, sodium p-styrenesulfonate (SSS) was successfully grafted on the reduced graphene oxide (RGO) surface via in situ free radical polymerization. Then, through the electrostatic interactions between positively charged amino groups of CdTe QDs and negatively charged sulfonic acid groups of the RGO-g-SSS surface, we have successfully fabricated RGO-g-SSS/CdTe nanocomposites. We have systematically analysed the structures and photoluminescence behaviors of RGO-g-SSS/CdTe nanocomposites. Finally, by virtue of their special electronic properties, we extended the as-prepared RGO-g-SSS composites as an excellent conductive scaffold to employ in quantum dot sensitized solar cells. These RGO-g-SSS/CdTe hybrids present enhanced optoelectronic properties compared with the pure CdTe QDs, especially in power conversion efficiency, indicating an improvement of 56%.

A series of yolk–shell ZnFe2O4@reduced graphite oxide@TiO2 (ZFO@RGO@TiO2) microspheres with different void sizes and TiO2 shell thicknesses has been successfully synthesized by combining a layer-by-layer coating process and chemical etching route. Compared to pure ZFO and hierarchical ZFO@SiO2@RGO@TiO2, the as-synthesized yolk–shell microspheres exhibited significantly enhanced microwave absorption properties in terms of effective bandwidth and reflection loss. Among these, the minimum reflection loss of the as-synthesized yolk–shell microspheres with a thickness of 2.6 mm could reach up to −44.3 dB at 15.92 GHz, and their effective absorption bandwidth at less than −10 dB was 4.1 GHz. In addition, as the shell thickness of the yolk–shell microspheres decreased, the frequency corresponding to the minimum reflection loss shifted to the high-frequency range. Hence, these obtained yolk–shell microspheres are potential new candidates for high-frequency shielding and lightweight microwave absorbing materials.

A ternary composite of Fe 3 O 4 /SnO 2 /rGO has been synthesized via a facile one-step hydrothermal method . In the composite, rGO serves as a conductive and robust matrix, Fe 3 O 4 and SnO 2 nanoparticles are uniformly loaded on the rGO nanosheets without aggregation, due to the space-confine effect of the simultaneous nucleation and growth of Fe 3 O 4 and SnO 2 nanocrystallites . As an anode material for lithium-ion batteries, the Fe 3 O 4 /SnO 2 /rGO nanocomposite exhibited a reversible capacity of 947 mAh g −1 at a current density of 200 mA g −1 in the first cycle, and maintained 831 mAh g −1 after 200 cycles. The cyclic performance and rate capability of the Fe 3 O 4 /SnO 2 /rGO are markedly improved compared with the binary counterparts of FeO x /rGO and SnO x /rGO obtained in the control experiment, as a result of enhanced structural stability and kinetics for charge and Li + transfer due to the synergetic effect in the ternary composite.

In this paper, capacitive-type humidity sensors were prepared by sequentially drop-coating the aqueous suspensions of zinc oxide (ZnO) nanopowders and polyvinyl pyrrolidone–reduced graphene oxide (PVP-RGO) nanocomposites onto interdigitated electrodes. Significant improvements in both sensitivity and linearity were achieved for the ZnO/PVP-RGO sensors compared with the PVP-RGO/ZnO, PVP-RGO, and ZnO counterparts. Moreover, the produced ZnO/PVP-RGO sensors exhibited rather small hysteresis, fast response-recovery time, and long-term stability. Based on morphological and structural analyses, it can be inferred that the excellent humidity sensing properties of the ZnO/PVP-RGO sensors may be attributed to the high surface-to-volume ratio of the multilayer structure and the supporting roles of the PVP-RGO nanocomposites. The results in this work hence provide adequate guidelines for designing high-performance humidity sensors that make use of the multilayer structure of semiconductor oxide materials and PVP-RGO nanocomposites. Keywords:ZnO nanopowders;RGO;PVP;capacitive humidity sensor

Nanocomposite films made from graphene oxide (GO) and MXene have a dense layered structure due to nanosheet self-stacking, limiting their dye adsorption performance. In this study, acid–base neutralization reactions are used to induce MXene/reduced graphene oxide (RGO) films bulging, which opens the stacked layer structure within the membrane and enhances MB adsorption performance. The effects of the pH, temperature, contact time, and initial concentration of MB on the adsorption performance are further investigated. The results indicate that the adsorption process conforms to the pseudo-second-order kinetic and Freundlich isotherm models and is heat-absorbing and spontaneous, and the MXene/RGO foams have an adsorption capacity of up to 1099.5 mg g–1 for MB. In addition, our study show that the MXene/RGO foams not only have better reusability, but also exhibit better adsorption for other dyes. The efficient MB removal is attributed to the increased specific surface area of the composite foams, increased active sites, strong electrostatic interactions between MB and the composite foams, as well as intercalation adsorption. These findings offer new options for solving dye effluent problems.

Photocatalytic technology is an attractive option for environmental remediation because of its green and sustainable nature. However, the inefficient utilization of solar energy and powder morphology currently impede its practical application. Here, we designed a floatable photocatalyst by anchoring 0D Cu2(OH)PO4 (CHP) nanoparticles on 2D graphene to construct 0D/2D CHP/reduced graphene oxide (rGO) aerogels. The CHP/rGO aerogels have interconnected mesopores that provide a large surface area, promoting particle dispersion and increasing the number of active sites. Moreover, the optical response of the CHP/rGO aerogel has been significantly expanded to cover the full spectrum of the solar light. Notably, the 20%CHP/rGO aerogel displayed a high degradation rate (k = 0.178 min–1) taking methylene blue (MB) as a model pollutant under light irradiation (λ > 420 nm). The enhanced photocatalytic activity is ascribed to the rapid electron transfer in the CHP/rGO heterostructures, as supported by the DFT theoretical calculations. Our research highlights the utilization of full spectrum responsive photocatalysts for the elimination of organic pollutants from wastewater under solar light irradiation, as well as the potential for catalyst recovery using floatable aerogels to meet industrial requirements.

Nitrite is commonly found in the environment, but its overuse and potential toxicity pose serious health risks. There is a strong need to develop robust and reliable methods for detecting nitrite. Herein, a novel In 2 O 3 solution-gated electrochemical transistor (SGET) nitrite sensor was designed and fabricated for highly sensitive detection of nitrite. Different thicknesses of In 2 O 3 thin films were prepared by sol–gel method, which were used as the channel of transistors and optimized through evaluating the electronic and electrochemical properties. To improve the catalytic oxidation of nitrite, PtAu 4 nanoparticles modified reduced graphene oxide nanocomposites (PtAu 4 /RGO) were fabricated on the gate of transistors through electrodeposition approach. The developed sensor exhibited exceptional sensing performance in nitrite detection, which featured with low detection limit (0.1 nM nitrite) and ultra-wide linear range from 0.1 nM to 1 mM. The developed In 2 O 3 SGET sensor displayed excellent stability and high resistance to common interfering ions, thereby demonstrating superior anti-interference performance. Nitrite in real samples of natural lake water has been accurately measured, suggesting that the designed sensor could act as an ideal transducer platform for highly sensitive and selective nitrite detection in food and environmental fields.

This study involved the synthesis of modified ZnO materials for photoelectrocatalysis (PEC) by a simple and environmentally friendly electrochemical procedure. The objective was to assess their capacity to photochemically breakdown ofloxacin (OFX) in an aqueous solution. To enhance the PEC performance of pure ZnO, a zinc oxide–reduced graphene oxide (ZnO–rGO) composite was synthesized through an electrochemical co-deposition process without the use of a reducing agent. Subsequently, ZnO–rGO was doped with N (ZnO–rGO:N) to further augment the PEC performance of the photoanode. The surface morphology, microstructure, and optical characteristics of the materials were systematically investigated through X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), Raman spectroscopy, and UV–visible spectroscopy. The parameters for synthesizing ZnO–rGO were optimized based on the experimental results” if it can more simply convey your intended meaning. Electrochemical tests demonstrated that N-doping significantly enhanced the photocurrent density of the ZnO–rGO films, which reached 15.14 μA cm −2 , representing 1.6- and 1.3-fold enhancements with respect to those of pure ZnO (9.25 μA cm −2 ) and ZnO–rGO (12.0 μA cm −2 ), respectively. Additionally, the band gap in ZnO was narrowed from 3.4 to 3.18 eV owing to rGO co-deposition and N-doping. After 180 min of Xe lamp irradiation, with a bias potential of 0.7 V (referenced to Ag/AgCl), ZnO–rGO:N demonstrated an OFX degradation rate of 55.7 %. Thus, the N-doped material exhibited higher PEC performance than either ZnO (31.8 %) or ZnO–rGO (36.3 %), implying its enhanced PEC capabilities. Therefore, the modified ZnO-based photoanode prepared using the straightforward electrochemical deposition method satisfied the objective of this study, which was to enhance its PEC activity while providing a viable foundation for nitrogen doping through electrochemical methods.

Designing a simple and sensitive photoelectrochemical (PEC) sensor is crucial to addressing the limitations of routine analytical methods. The sensitivity of the PEC sensor, however, relies on the photoelectric material used. In this manuscript, composites of MoS2/rGO (MG) with a large area and layered structure are prepared by simple steps. This material exhibits sensitivity to visible light and demonstrates outstanding photoelectric conversion performance. The constructed PEC aptasensor using this material to detect aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) shows significantly higher sensitivity and stability compared to similar sensors. This may be attributed to the presence of surface defects in MoS2, which provide more active sites for photocatalysis. Additionally, graphene oxide (GO) is reduced to rGO by thiourea and forms a heterojunction with MoS2, enhancing charge carrier separation and interfacial electron transfer. Our research has revealed that the photocurrent intensity of the aptamer electrode decreases with an increase in AFB1 concentration, resulting in a “signal-off” PEC aptasensor. The detection limit of this aptasensor is 2.18 pg mL−1, with a linear range of 0.001 to 100 ng mL−1. This result will also provide a reference for the study of other mycotoxins in food.

As a well-known photocatalyst, TiO2still suffers from rapid electron–hole recombination and limited visible light absorption. To overcome these challenges, the combination of graphene and TiO2has been proposed. However, traditional methods such as ball milling and hydrothermal synthesis face limitations, including high energy consumption and complex procedures. Here, we develop a simple and industrially feasible method to prepare reduced graphene oxide (rGO)-coated TiO2nanoparticles, referred to as rGO-TiO2composites. The optimized rGO-TiO2composites exhibit an enhanced photocatalytic degradation of rhodamine B (RhB) under simulated sunlight conditions, about 99.95% for 4% rGO-TiO2within 80 min. The first-order reaction rate constant (k) of 4% rGO-TiO2(0.0867 min−1) is 5.42 times higher than that of nano TiO2(0.0135 min−1). The key reactive species involved in the degradation process are identified. Additionally, the effects of pH and NaCl concentration on the degradation efficiency of rGO-TiO2are also investigated. The 4% rGO-TiO2composite exhibits an excellent photocatalytic activity within the pH range of 3.87–11.89, and the NaCl concentration does not affect its photocatalytic efficiency. After characterization, the enhanced photocatalytic activity is ascribed to the introduction of rGO and the generation of surface oxygen vacancies (OV) and Ti3+in TiO2crystals.
