The one-step preparation of methacrylic acid from isobutylene presents a significant challenge. In this study, three-dimensionally ordered macroporous (3DOM) Mo-V-P-Ce was synthesized using the hard template method and employed as a carrier for heteropolyacids in the selective oxidation of isobutene (IBN) to produce methacrylic acid (MAA). The CuNH 4 PAV@3DOM Mo-V-P-Ce catalyst developed through this method exhibits an ordered macroporous structure, which significantly enhances its thermal stability. Additionally, it contains a significant number of active species (VO 2 + ) and appropriate moderately strong acidic centers, which collectively improve the overall performance of the catalyst. The combination of CuNH 4 PAV with the 3DOM structure increases the surface concentration of oxygen vacancy species, thereby promoting the catalytic activity of the composite catalyst in converting these oxygen vacancy species into lattice oxygen species. Notably, the selectivity of the synthesized heteropolyacid catalysts for MAA increased to 84 % after loading. This work offers a novel approach to the development of efficient catalysts.

Diabetic infections/wounds remain to be a threatening challenge as it seriously leads to lower limb amputation with endless pains and subsequent high economic/psychosocial costs. The exceptional peroxidase-like activity of single-atom nanozymes (SAzymes) holds great promise for chemodynamic therapy (CDT) of diabetic infection, but is extremely restricted by the near-neutral pH and insufficient H 2 O 2 levels in physiological conditions. Herein, we innovated a hollow mesoporous molybdenum single-atom nanozyme (HMMo-zyme) featured with catalytic activity, photothermal performance and drug delivery properties for more effective antibacterial therapeutic in diabetic conditions. The glucose oxidase (GOx) was encapsulated into HMMo-zyme with phase-change material (PCM) to form HMMo/GOx@P system, which could be controllably disassembled by near-infrared ray (NIR) to trigger cascade CDT toward bacterial infections. The results revealed that the release of GOx accelerated by NIR could facilitate the continuous conversion of glucose (Glu) into gluconic acid, accompanied by a sharply decrease in pH to establish a low-pH environment that notably enhanced the catalytic activity of HMMo-zyme, which subsequently drives the conversion of generated H 2 O 2 into toxic hydroxyl radicals ( · OH) for amplified anti-bacterial treatment. As a proof of the concept, this NIR-assisted HMMo/GOx@P strategy could efficiently inhibit/kill bacteria and suppress tissue inflammations, thereby accelerating the wound healing processes both in in vitro and in vivo diabetic infection models. This study provides a novel strategy that may serve as a promising alternative for antibiotic therapeutics against diabetic infection, thus holding promise for more effective diabetic infection treatment manipulating Mo-based SAzymes.

To effectively mitigate the global warming issue, it is crucial to develop advanced technologies that can significantly reduce carbon dioxide emissions. CO 2 hydrogenation for methanol synthesis is increasingly recognized as a promising chemical approach for the green-house gas utilization. In this study, we present a highly active, selective and stable Mo modified ZnCu-MOF and ZnCuAl-LDH composite catalysts, which achieves 18% CO 2 conversion and 70% methanol selectivity at 230 °C, 3.0 MPa at a space velocity of 3600 mL·g cat −1 ·h −1 . Furthermore, after 140 h of operation, the catalyst demonstrates superior durability. In-situ DRIFT results reveal that this CO 2 hydrogenation reaction over the ZnCu-MOF and ZnCuAl-LDH composite catalysts proceeds through key intermediate formate species, ultimately leading to the methanol formation. In contrast, the Mo-modified catalysts facilitate the CO insertion reaction (CO 2 → CO*, CO* + *CH x → CH 3 OH), thereby enhancing the methanol yield. Graphical

The coatings play a crucial role in enhancing the performance of soft magnetic composites (SMCs). This study aims to create coatings for Fe-Ni-Mo SMCs using polysilazane (PSZ) as the precursor. The transformation mechanism of the PSZ/resin mixture is studied by analyzing functional groups and chemical bonds at various temperatures. During the self-polymerization process of PSZ at 350 °C, N–H, C = C–H, Si-H bonds, –CH 3 , and Si-CH 3 groups undergo crosslinking reactions to form C–C and Si-N bonds. When the temperature reaches 600 °C, PSZ polymer cleavage, O-Si-C and Si-N-Si bond dominate in the coating. Additionally, PSZ can effectively enhance the heat resistance of silicone resin through its reaction with Si-OH groups, which has a significant effect on increasing the resistivity of SMCs and reducing high frequency core loss. Optimizing the PSZ content to 0.5 wt% enhances the magnetic properties of Fe-Ni-Mo SMCs, resulting in a μ e of 74.0 at 100 kHz and a corresponding core loss ( P cv ) of 547.7 mW/cm 3 at 100 kHz/100 mT. The findings provide valuable insights for optimizing PSZ content to improve magnetic performance in SMCs.

The potassium‑oxygen battery (KOB) as the only new system in metal-air batteries does not generate singlet oxygen ( 1 O 2 ). It is a novel high-energy-density storage device which has attracted widespread attention. However, the low efficiency of potassium ion and oxygen transfer in KOB, along with slow kinetics, results in poor cycling stability. For this reason, a new composite catalytic material with a multicomponent Mo@VN/V 2 O 3 -Co 3 O 4 in cathode of KOB has been designed and prepared. The homologous heterostructure formed between VN and V 2 O 3 exhibits a good lattice match, enhancing the carrier mobility and electrochemical activity of the electrode, thereby increasing the discharge capacity of the KOB. The multicomponent active interface formed between Co 3 O 4 and VN/V 2 O 3 stimulates more electrons to participate in redox reactions, and the synergistic catalytic effect promotes the reversible decomposition of KO 2 , improving the cycle life of the KOB. The doping of Mo enables Mo 6+ to enter the V 2 O 3 lattice, replacing some V δ+ , which creates crystal defects that facilitate the rapid diffusion of K + and O 2 in the electrode. Final, the Mo@VN/V 2 O 3 -Co 3 O 4 is used as a cathode catalyst of KOB, shown discharge specific capacity of 1899.61 mAh·g −1 with a cycle life >170 cycles.

The oxygen evolution reaction (OER), serving as the anode in water electrolysis, plays a pivotal role in various applications. Developing efficient non-iridium-based catalysts for acidic water splitting remains a significant challenge. This study employs a phase engineering strategy to synthesize defect-rich crystalline/amorphous Ru 0.6 Mo 0.2 Cr 0.2 O x solid solution catalysts through dual-metal doping. The catalyst exhibits superior acidic OER performance with an overpotential of 204 mV (@10 mA cm −2 ) and mass activity of 577.8 A g Ru −1 at 1.5 V vs RHE, outperforming all control samples. Furthermore, synergistic Cr/Mo doping effectively reduces the oxidation state of Ru in RuO 2 while enhancing structural stability, resulting in minimal activity decay during prolonged testing. Theoretical calculations reveal that dual-doping synergistically modulates charge distribution on Ru sites, lowering the energy barrier for *OOH formation in the thermodynamic limiting step. This work provides a facile strategy for developing high-performance acidic OER catalysts with dramatically reduced noble metal loading, demonstrating critical industrial relevance.

The integration of heterogenous Fenton reaction with membrane filtration has emerged as an effective technology for removing micropollutants from water. In this study, a novel bimetallic Fe Mo oxide (FeMoO)-modified catalytic ceramic membrane (CM) was fabricated, enabling continuous Fenton reaction for micropollutant removal and membrane fouling mitigation. By coating the FeMoO catalyst hybridized with NH 2 -MIL-88B(Fe) (NM88B) on the CM, i.e., FeMoO/NM88B@CM, a catalytic layer ~24 μm in thickness was formed on the membrane to provide abundant active sites for H 2 O 2 activation during the filtration process. FeMoO/NM88B@CM with H 2 O 2 dosing exhibited a remarkable treatment performance, achieving 98.5 % degradation of moxifloxacin (MOX) within 3.1 min of single-pass water filtration, greatly surpassing the 16.8 % removal by FeMoO/NM88B@CM without H 2 O 2 dosing and 16.2 % removal by bare CM with H 2 O 2 dosing. The FeMoO/NM88B@CM/H 2 O 2 system also performed exceptionally well in treating actual secondary wastewater effluent, removing more than 60 % of the residual organics while mitigating the membrane fouling problem. In addition, the catalytic membrane filtration demonstrated its high effectiveness in degrading various micropollutants, in the presence of complex water matrix substances, and during long-term operation. Hydroxyl (‧OH) and superoxide (‧O 2 − ) radicals were identified as the active species generated by the catalytic membrane for organic oxidation and membrane fouling control. It is considered that H 2 O 2 -induced Mo(VI)/Mo(IV) cycle of the immobilized Fe Mo bimetallic catalyst played a crucial role in driving the essential Fe(II)/Fe(III) redox cycle for continuous regeneration of Fe(II) and heterogeneous Fenton oxidation. The research findings provide valuable insights into the fabrication and potent functionality of catalytic ceramic membranes in high-rate removal of micropollutants for water pollution control.

The development of a hydrogen evolution catalyst with both catalytic activity and stability is critical for hydrogen production from electrolytic water. Herein, a V-based porous alloy was prepared via high-energy ball milling and solid-state sintering. Then, the V-based porous alloy was modified with a Ni-Cu-Mo ternary alloy coating by direct current electrodeposition to obtain a composite hydrogen evolution cathode with high hydrogen evolution activity. The substrate has a certain hydrogen storage capacity combined with a high-activity Ni-Cu-Mo coating. The composite hydrogen evolution cathode exhibited high electrocatalytic activity toward the HER. It can afford a lower overpotential of 93 mV and a smaller Tafel slope of 97.4 mV/dec with a current density of 10 mA/cm 2 in 1.0 M KOH. The composite hydrogen evolution cathode demonstrated outstanding stability after 2000 cycles and good durability after intermittent electrolysis for 20 h. Hydrogen protons can protect the components of the cathode composite from dissolution during discontinuous constant potential electrolysis. The composite hydrogen evolution cathode also exhibited a strong catalytic capacity for hydrogen evolution during intermittent electrolysis under alkaline conditions.

The grain boundary control is requisite in the development of high-performance molybdenum (Mo) composites in the field of high-temperature applications. Meanwhile, strengthening these Mo-based materials without sacrificing their plasticity has been a huge challenge. In this study, we introduced TiC nanoparticles into the Mo alloy system to break the development bottleneck of the mechanical alloying (MA) approach: a large amount of oxygen impurities and large-size second-phase particles at grain boundaries (GBs). Unlike traditional oxides, TiC could undergo a purification effect to absorb a large number of oxygen impurities to generate in-situ and dispersed Ti 3 O 5 nanoparticles during the high-temperature SPS process. First-principles calculations also elucidated that these semi-coherent Ti 3 O 5 nanoparticles could enhance the interface bonding strength of the Mo GBs on account of the stronger Mo-Ti-O bonds. As a result, the average grain size of Mo-Ti 3 O 5 composite fabricated via spark plasma sintering (SPS) technology at 1200 °C is only 1.3 μm owing to the uniform dispersion of nanoscale second-phase particles. Meanwhile, our prepared ultrafine-grained Mo-Ti 3 O 5 composites possess outstanding mechanical properties, where the compressive yield strength, total strain-to-failure, and hardness of the Mo-Ti 3 O 5 composite are 1340 MPa, greater than 50 %, and 362.8 HV 0.5 , respectively. Our strategy using core-shell composite powder as a raw material provides a novel perspective for the preparation of high-performance refractory metals and has potential to be applied to relevant engineering applications.

To address the bottlenecks of low photocatalytic activity and poor stability in Ag₃PO₄, this study proposes a dual-defect synergistic modulation strategy by simultaneously incorporating Mo doping and oxygen vacancies (OVs) into the Ag₃PO₄ lattice. Systematic hybridization of experimental characterizations and density functional theory (DFT) simulations demonstrates that Mo²⁺ substitution at Ag⁺ lattice sites induces distinctive intermediate states, effectively red-shifting the optical absorption edge to the near-infrared region (700 nm). Concurrently, oxygen vacancies within the bulk phase function as electron scavengers, extending carrier lifetime to 13.5 ns through dynamic charge delocalization. At the atomic interface, surface-anchored OVs regulate local charge distribution, enabling directed OH⁻ migration to Ag active sites and significantly reducing the kinetic barrier for • OH radical formation. The optimized 2 %Mo-Ag₃PO₄ exhibits exceptional visible-light-driven tetracycline mineralization, achieving 93 % degradation efficiency within 30 min while retaining 83 % activity over five catalytic cycles. Band structure modulation ensures a valence band hole (+2.41 V)-dominated h⁺/ • OH degradation pathway. This study establishes a theoretical framework and technical paradigm for dual-defect cooperative optimization in photocatalyst design.

Selective electroreduction of nitrobenzene (NB) to generate valuable azoxybenzene (AOB) is an important electrochemical N-N coupling reaction, but suffering from low selectivity at low potential. Herein, we constructed a Mo-incorporated NiFe bimetallic nitride on nickel foam (Mo-Fe 2 Ni 2 N/NF), effectively catalyzing selective electroreduction of NB (NSR) to generate AOB. Experimental and theoretical findings reveal that incorporating Mo into Fe 2 Ni 2 N triggers a rational charge redistribution, which induces a moderate hydrogen affinity, alongside enhances the adsorption of nitrosobenzene and phenylhydroxylamine intermediates so as to lower energy barrier of potential-determining step (PDS) for formation of AOB and higher energy barriers of PDS for formation of by-products (amine and azobenzene) can be achieved, thus leading to desired tandem reactions of partial hydrogenation reduction and bimolecular coupling for selective electrosynthesis of AOB. As a result, Mo-Fe 2 Ni 2 N/NF exerts an ultralow potential (0.341 V@100 mA cm −2 ) along with 100 % conversion of NB and 97.2 % yield of AOB. Remarkably, an anion exchange membrane flow electrolyzer of pairing cathodic NSR with anodic benzylamine oxidation by using Mo-Fe 2 Ni 2 N/NF cathode and Mo x Ni y N/NF anode is integrated, and simultaneous synthesis of value-added, easy-separation AOB and benzonitrile can be accomplished with low voltage (1.50 V@100 mA cm −2 ) and high productivity (> 90 %), highlighting its large potential for industrial application. This work showcases a new route to design efficient electrocatalysts for organic electrosynthesis via manipulating adsorption of key reaction species of constructing multicomponent nitrides.

Photocatalytic hydrogen production (PHE) technology has emerged as a sustainable approach to convert solar energy into hydrogen energy, exhibiting significant potential for clean energy applications. In this study, an ultrasonic-assisted method was adopted to fabricate S-scheme MoSe 2 /Mn 0.5 Cd 0.5 S (MoSe 2 /MCS) composites, where intimate heterostructures are formed through interfacial Mo–S bonds between MCS and MoSe 2 . The atomic-level Mo–S bonds establish charge transport pathways and enable directional control of charge transfer. The as-constructed S-scheme MoSe 2 /MCS photocatalysts exhibit two critical advantages: enhanced charge carrier separation rate and improved overall redox capacity. Under visible-light irradiation, the MoSe 2 /MCS composites significantly outperform pure MCS in PHE performance. The optimal 5-MoSe 2 /MCS composite demonstrates the superior PHE activity, achieving an apparent quantum yield value of 71.16 % at 400 nm and remarkable photocatalytic stability. Key characterization techniques, including (solution-based) time-resolved photoluminescence technique, theoretical calculation, photoelectrochemical measurements, were employed to elucidate the positive correlation between ion-carrier interaction and charge separation efficiency, thereby enhancing the PHE performance. Based on experimental analysis and theoretical calculation, a plausible PHE mechanism for the S-scheme MCS composites is revealed and discussed in detail. These findings provide valuable insights for designing high-efficiency S-scheme heterostructured composites with interfacial chemical bonds.
