Polysaccharide-based hydrogels with strong tissue adhesion, injectability, and self-healing capability are highly desirable for wound management, yet their performance is often limited by rigid polymer conformations and insufficient interfacial interactions. Here, we report a mussel-inspired, dopamine-grafted curdlan hydrogel (Cur-DA) featuring a predominantly single-helical β-glucan architecture. Cur-DA hydrogels were synthesized under alkaline conditions using ethylene glycol diglycidyl ether (EGDE) as a linker, thereby facilitating regioselective dopamine grafting at the C6 position of curdlan. Spectroscopic analyses (UV–Vis, FTIR, solid-state 13 C NMR, XRD, and circular dichroism), together with XPS characterization, confirmed successful dopamine incorporation and a conformational transition from native triple helices to more flexible single helices. With this single-helical architecture and catechol functionalization, Cur-DA formed a nanofibrous, porous network with high water content (>90%), increased swelling capacity, and excellent mechanical compliance. Owing to catechol-mediated interfacial interactions and the mobility of single-helical chains, which likely serve as dynamic “sticky ends,” Cur-DA hydrogels exhibited robust tissue adhesion (up to 10.21 kPa), self-healing, and outstanding injectability. In vitro assays indicated excellent hemocompatibility and cytocompatibility. In a murine full-thickness skin wound model, an optimized formulation (Cur-DA3) accelerated wound closure, promoted re-epithelialization, and enhanced collagen deposition without inducing systemic toxicity. This work establishes a conformation-engineering strategy for β-glucan hydrogels and highlights Cur-DA as a promising injectable, adhesive wound dressing.

Naphthalene, as a representative polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH), is persistent, bioaccumulative, and toxic, posing a long-term threat to aquatic environments. To address this issue, a mineral-mediated Au-TiO 2 /g-C 3 N 4 composite photocatalyst with coupled adsorption and photocatalytic functions was constructed through photodeposition, co-pyrolysis, and subsequent in situ mineral loading/calcination. Characterization analyses demonstrated that 1.0 wt% Au provided the most effective electronic modulation, giving an apparent rate constant of 0.174 min −1 for naphthalene degradation, which was 3.78 times that of the Au-free counterpart. Among the tested mineral supports, bentonite exhibited the strongest adsorption-enrichment effect, increasing the adsorption efficiency to 47.2% and enabling complete removal and near-complete mineralization of naphthalene within 25 min of irradiation. Radical trapping experiments and ESR spectra identified ·OH, ·O 2 − , and h + as the dominant reactive species. Combined with Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS) and in situ Gas Chromatography (GC) analyses, naphthalene was found to undergo progressive hydroxylation, ring opening, and oxidation before final mineralization. This work provides a feasible strategy for designing mineral-semiconductor composite photocatalysts for efficient PAH removal from water.

There is a tremendous demand for noncontact temperature sensing technologies due to their fast response and accurate testing. In this work, Ba 3 LaNb 3 O 12 :Sm 3+ /g-C 3 N 4 mixed phosphors with various compositional ratios were synthesized via a high-temperature solid-state reaction. Over the temperature range of 313–573 K, the luminescent intensity of g-C 3 N 4 exhibited a decreasing trend. In contrast, the luminescent intensity of Ba 3 LaNb 3 O 12 :Sm 3+ demonstrates an antithermal quenching phenomenon due to the high structural rigidity of Ba 3 LaNb 3 O 12 . To achieve high temperature sensitivity, Ba 3 LaNb 3 O 12 :0.08Sm 3+ and g-C 3 N 4 were mixed at an optimal 15:1 ratio, leveraging their contrasting thermal responses. The composite exhibits tunable emission, with its color shifting from cyan to orange as the temperature rises. This property enables a dual-mode temperature sensing based on fluorescence intensity ratio (FIR) and Commission Internationale de l'Éclairage (CIE) chromaticity coordinates, achieving maximum relative sensitivities of 1.63% K −1 at 313 K and 0.34% K −1 at 573 K, respectively. Besides, the repeatability of the optimal mixed phosphors reaches 98% across variable temperature cycles. These results indicate that the Ba 3 LaNb 3 O 12 :Sm 3+ /g-C 3 N 4 mixed phosphor exhibits high sensitivity and exceptional repeatability, demonstrating its potential for application in self-calibrated optical thermometry.

To further improve the antibacterial performance of photocatalytic paper, a BiOBr/g-C 3 N 4 photocatalyst was synthesized via a two-step method, involving calcination for g-C 3 N 4 preparation followed by a solvothermal process for BiOBr/g-C 3 N 4 composite formation. The BiOBr/g-C 3 N 4 photocatalytic paper was fabricated by loading sunflower stalk pulp with a self-made hot-pressing device. In the composite, BiOBr and g-C 3 N 4 form tight heterojunctions through close contact, facilitating efficient charge separation and enhancing visible-light utilization. The resulting photocatalytic paper exhibits excellent recyclability and strong antibacterial activity, achieving 99.99% antibacterial efficiency and extending the fruit preservation time by fourfold compared with the control group. This study provides a green and scalable approach for developing recyclable and biodegradable photocatalytic packaging materials with potential applications in sustainable food preservation.

The high relapse rate of drugs is currently a therapeutic dilemma in the treatment of substance use disorder (SUD). Emerging evidence from preclinical animal models demonstrates that pretreatment with selective dopamine D 2 receptor (D 2 R) antagonists prevents reinstatement of drug-seeking. However, the role of D 2 R downstream signaling in regulating relapse behavior remains unclear. In this study, we investigated the roles of G α i -protein- and β-arrestin-dependent D 2 R signaling pathways in cocaine-primed reinstatement using cocaine self-administration (SA) mouse model treated with biased ligands. We found that treatment of D 2 R G α i -protein antagonists, but not β-arrestin antagonists, significantly attenuated cocaine-primed reinstatement of drug seeking without affecting locomotor activity or anxiety levels. Administration of D 2 R G α i -protein antagonists, but not β-arrestin antagonists, increased cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP) levels in the nucleus accumbens (NAc). Furthermore, treatment of D 2 R G α i -protein antagonists, but not β-arrestin antagonists, suppressed cocaine-induced neuronal activation in the NAc. Our results demonstrate that G α i -protein-dependent D 2 R signaling plays a crucial role in cocaine-primed reinstatement and suggest that D 2 R G α i -protein-biased ligands may be promising pharmacotherapeutic targets for SUD treatment.

Graphitic carbon nitride (g-C 3 N 4 ) has emerged as a promising metal-free photocatalyst for solar driven hydrogen evolution. However, the rapid recombination of photogenerated electron-hole pairs in pristine g-C 3 N 4 severely limits its opportunities for practical application. Herein, we developed an intramolecular S-scheme with an endogenous built-in electric field (BIEF) via simply ethylenediamine-mediated two-step thermal polycondensation, producing an heteroaromatic-modified g-C 3 N 4 (HA-CN). The experimental results showed this structural innovation achieves dual optimization: (1) molecular-level integration of aromatic ring-modified melon (A-domain) and pristine melon-skeleton (P-domain) establish a BIEF to promote carriers transfer and separation; (2) the aromatic substitution extends π-electron delocalization of the adjacent melon domains, enhancing n→π* transitions and broadening visible-light absorption. The optimized HA-CN exhibited exceptional enhancement of hydrogen evolution (5.99 mmol g⁻¹ h⁻¹, λ ≥ 420 nm), surpassing pristine g-C 3 N 4 by 39-fold, with an apparent quantum efficiency (AQE) of 3.93 % at 420 nm. Time-resolved spectroscopy and electrochemical analysis confirm the suppressed charge recombination and reduced interfacial charge-transfer resistance, corresponding to BIEF-driven directional carrier migration. This research offers valuable insights into junction engineering strategy from molecular level for designing efficient photocatalysts.

Particle-size engineering, conductive-network construction and catalysis were integrated. • Recrystallization and ball milling reduced Li 2 C 2 O 4 D50 from 142.8 to 0.55 μm. • A NiO/g-C 3 N 4 composite catalyst promoted Li 2 C 2 O 4 activation. • The decomposition potential decreased from 4.805 to 4.254 V. • The bilayer electrode delivered 267.49 mAh·g −1 additional capacity. Lithium oxalate is regarded as a promising cathode prelithiation additive for compensating irreversible active lithium loss during the initial cycle of lithium-ion batteries, owing to its high theoretical specific capacity, good air stability, and low cost. However, its intrinsically low electrochemical activity and high decomposition potential severely limit its practical application. Herein, a synergistic regulation strategy combining particle-size refinement, conductive-network construction, and NiO/g-C 3 N 4 catalyst modification was developed to promote the electrochemical activation of Li 2 C 2 O 4 . The reduced particle size shortens Li + transport pathways, while Ketjen black constructs an efficient conductive network and the NiO/g-C 3 N 4 composite catalyst promotes the electrochemical activation of Li 2 C 2 O 4 . As a result, the decomposition potential of Li 2 C 2 O 4 was reduced from 4.805 to 4.254 V, while a high discharge capacity of 510.2 mAh·g −1 was maintained. When applied in LiFePO 4 half-cells using a bilayer electrode configuration, the optimized prelithiation layer delivered an additional specific capacity of 267.49 mAh·g −1 without compromising cycling stability. This work provides a feasible strategy for improving the electrochemical utilization of Li 2 C 2 O 4 and demonstrates its potential as an efficient cathode prelithiation additive for lithium-ion batteries.

CRISPR (clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats) technology holds tremendous promise for gene regulation and editing. However, precise control of CRISPR editing is essential to overcome its uncontrollable reaction process and excessive activity that leads to off-target editing. To overcome this problem, we engineered a photoswitch on G-quadruplex gRNA (GqRNA) for precisely controlled gene editing and expression by embedding dicationic azobenzene derivatives (AZD++). Our results demonstrated that rational design of the G-quadruplex onto crRNA conferred higher stability and sequence recognition specificity than unmodified single guide (sgRNA). Light-induced isomerization of AZD++ quickly transformed the on state of GqRNA, which facilitated rapid activation of ribonucleoprotein activity for genome editing of on-target sites in cells with excellent editing efficiency. In turn, AZD++–GqRNA promptly refolded to an off state to inhibit genomic cleavage, and limited the generation of off-target effects and by-products. Therefore, the proposed strategy of a photo-reversible modality presents a new opportunity for CRISPR-Cas9 modulation to improve its safety and applicability.

g-C3N4and g-C3N4/TCNQ composites with different doping levels were prepared using the copolymerization thermal method with melamine as a precursor. XRD, FT-IR, SEM, TEM, DRS, PL, and I-T characterized them. The composites were successfully prepared in this study. The photocatalytic degradation of pefloxacin (PEF), enrofloxacin (ciprofloxacin), and ciprofloxacin (ciprofloxacin) under visible light (λ > 550 nm) showed that the composite material had the best degradation effect on PEF. When TCNQ doping is 20 mg and catalyst dosage is 50 mg, the catalytic effect is the best, and the degradation rate reaches 91.6%, k = 0.0111 min−1, which is four times that of g-C3N4. Repeated experiments found that the cyclic stability of the g-C3N4/TCNQ composite was good. The XRD images were almost unchanged after five reactions. The radical capture experiments revealed that ·O2−was the main active species in the g-C3N4/TCNQ catalytic system, and h+also played a role in PEF degradation. And the possible mechanism for PEF degradation was speculated. Keywords:TCNQ;graphite phase carbon nitride;pefloxacin;photocatalysis

Using an ultrasound-assisted chemical technique, ZnO quantum dot and ZnO composites were created. The optical characteristics and structural details of these composites were examined using TEM, XRD, XPS, FT-IR, UV-vis, and BET. The results revealed that both the ZnO quantum dot composite and ZnO composite exhibited outstanding optical properties, making them suitable for photocatalytic reactions. In order to analyze the photocatalytic performance, a degradation experiment was conducted using Rhodamine B solution as the simulation dye wastewater. The experiment demonstrated that the degradation of Rhodamine B followed the first-order reaction kinetics equation when combined with the photocatalytic reaction kinetics. Moreover, through cyclic stability testing, it was determined that the ZnO QDs-GO-g-C3N4composite sample showed good stability and could be reused. The degradation rates of Rhodamine B solution using ZnO-GO-g-C3N4and ZnO QDs-GO-g-C3N4reached 95.25% and 97.16%, respectively. Furthermore, free-radical-trapping experiments confirmed that ·O2−was the main active species in the catalytic system and its photocatalytic mechanism was elucidated. The photocatalytic oxidation of ZnO quantum dots in this study has important reference value and provides a new idea for the subsequent research. Keywords:zinc oxide;graphene oxide;graphite phase carbon nitride;composites;photocatalysis;degradation

As an efficient, safe, and environmentally friendly technology, semiconductor photocatalysis has been widely used in the removal of antibiotics from wastewater. In this work, a novel Ag/BiOI/g-C 3 N 4 composite photocatalytic material, BiOI/g-C 3 N 4 , g-C 3 N 4 , and BiOI are prepared as the photocatalysts. The morphologies, chemical properties, and photocatalytic performances of the photocatalysts are characterized using scanning electron microscope, transmission electron microscope, X-ray diffraction, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, Fourier-transform infrared spectrometer, ultraviolet–visible spectroscopy (UV–Vis) diffuse reflectance spectra, and photoluminescence spectra. In addition, tetracycline hydrochloride (TC) and ceftiofur sodium aqueous solutions are used to simulate wastewater and the photocatalytic degradation performances of the photocatalysts are investigated and compared under visible light. Compared to g-C 3 N 4 , BiOI, and BiOI/g-C 3 N 4 , the Ag/BiOI/g-C 3 N 4 demonstrates superior performance, increasing the removal rates of TC and ceftiofur sodium to 85.6% and 90.2%, respectively. The photocatalytic mechanism of the Ag/BiOI/g-C 3 N 4 may involve the promotion of the visible light–harvesting ability and inhibition of the recombination of photogenerated electron/hole pairs. Furthermore, the primary active groups in the system are identified as superoxide radicals (·O 2 − ) and hydroxyl radicals (·OH). Herein, some valuable insights into the development of innovative photocatalytic materials are offered for the effective removal of antibiotics from water.

Graphitic carbon nitride (g-C 3 N 4 ) had aroused tremendous attention in photodynamic antibacterial therapy due to its excellent energy band structure and appealing optical performance. Nevertheless, the superfast electron-hole recombination and dense biofilm formation abated its photodynamic antibacterial effect . To this end, a nanoheterojunction was synthesized via in-situ growing copper sulfide (CuS) on g-C 3 N 4 (CuS@g-C 3 N 4 ). On the one hand, CuS could form Fermi level difference with g-C 3 N 4 to accelerate carrier transfer and thus facilitate electron-hole separation. On the other hand, CuS could respond near-infrared light to generate localized thermal to disrupt biofilm. Then the CuS@g-C 3 N 4 nanoparticle was introduced into the poly- l -lactide (PLLA) scaffold. The photoelectrochemistry results demonstrated that the electron-hole separation efficiency was apparently enhanced and thereby brought an approximate sevenfold increase in reactive oxygen species (ROS) production. The thermal imaging indicated that the scaffold possesses a superior photothermal effect, which effectively eradicated the biofilm by disrupting its extracellular DNA and thereby facilitated to the entry of ROS. The entered ROS could effectively kill the bacteria by causing protein, K + , and nucleic acid leakage and glutathione consumption. As a consequence, the scaffold displayed an antibacterial rate of 97.2% and 98.5% against E. coli and S. aureus , respectively.
