Titanium-based implants often lead to premature implant failure due to the lack of antimicrobial, osteogenic, and angiogenic properties. To this end, a new strategy was developed to fabricate CaO2@ZIF-67-HA-ADH coating on titanium surfaces by combining calcium peroxide (CaO2) nanoparticles, zeolite imidazolate framework-67 (ZIF-67), and the chemical coupling hyaluronic acid–adipic acid dihydrazide (HA-ADH). We characterized CaO2@ZIF-67-HA-ADH with scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and inductively coupled plasma–atomic emission spectrometry (ICP–AES). The results demonstrated that CaO2@ZIF-67-HA-ADH was pH-sensitive and decomposed rapidly under acidic conditions, and it released inclusions slowly under neutral conditions. Antibacterial experiments showed that the CaO2@ZIF-67-HA-ADH coating had excellent antibacterial properties and effectively killed methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and Pseudomonas aeruginosa (PAO-1). Cell experiments revealed that the CaO2@ZIF-67-HA-ADH coating promoted pro-osteoblast adhesion, proliferation, and differentiation and also promoted the migration and angiogenesis of human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs), exhibiting excellent osteogenic and angiogenic properties. In in vivo animal implantation experiments, the CaO2@ZIF-67-HA-ADH coating exhibited strong antimicrobial activity early after implantation and excellent osseointegration later after implantation. In conclusion, the pH-responsive CaO2@ZIF-67-HA-ADH coating conferred excellent antibacterial, osteogenic, and angiogenic properties to titanium implants, which effectively enhanced osseointegration of the implants and prevented bacterial infection; the coating shows promise for use in the treatment of bone defects.

Designing a cost-effective and high-performance catalyst for NaBH 4 hydrolysis is a significant step in developing a sustainable hydrogen source . Herein, we prepared a cost-effective Ru-clusters decorated cobalt-cerium oxides coating ZIF-67 (Ru/Co 6 Ce 1 @ZIF-67) catalyst via a facile reduction method, displaying high performance and exceptional reusability in alkaline NaBH 4 solution. The optimized catalyst exhibits a high hydrogen generation rate (HGR, 5726.1 mL min −1 g −1 ), turnover frequency (TOF, 413.9 mol H2 min −1 mol R u − 1 ), and low activation energy (E a , 53.0 kJ mol −1 ), surpassing most of the recently reported catalysts. Furthermore, the catalytic performance does not change considerably after five cycles, indicating the catalyst's multi-cycle reusability. Studies imply the uniquely synergistic effect of Ru, Co/Ce oxides, abundant oxygen vacancies , as well as the porous nanocube structure, enabling the catalysts to possess high metal dispersion, outstanding catalytic performance and exceptional reusability. This work will open light on using an oxygen vacancies-rich strategy to design a high-activity catalyst for promoting NaBH 4 hydrolysis.

The inhibition of acetylcholinesterase (AChE) from decomposing acetylcholine (ACh) is regarded as a common therapeutic strategy for Alzheimer's disease (AD). Screening AChE inhibitors is of great significance for AD treatment . In this work, AChE was physically absorbed on the synthesized MnO 2 -ZIF-67 through electrostatic interaction for the first time, and the fabricated MnO 2 -ZIF-67 immobilized AChE coupled with capillary electrophoresis (CE) was applied to screening AChE inhibitor. The established MnO 2 -ZIF-67 immobilized AChE with excellent pH, thermal and organic solvents tolerance stability was evaluated by Ellman's method. Huperzine A was used as model inhibitor to investigate the inhibition kinetics of the immobilized AChE, which possess the feasibility and applicability for its inhibitor screening. The screening mechanism of AChE inhibitor was based on the Ellman's method and measured by the changes of 5-thio-2-nitrobenzoic acid (TNB), which was produced by the reaction of thiocholine (TCh) with 5,5-dithiobis-(2-nitrobenzoic acid) (DTNB). Benefiting from the advantages of convenience and high sensitivity, the proposed platform was employed to screen AChE inhibitors from 11 compounds isolated from Inula macrophylla , and macrophyllic acid A (compound 1 ), dibutyl phthalate (compound 2 ) exhibited strong AChE inhibitory activity. Thus, this work not only provides a promising platform for monitoring AChE activity, but also holds great potential for the further exploration of active components with AChE inhibitory activity from Inula macrophylla .

A catalytic membrane nano reactor (CMNR) with two-dimensional channels has been fabricated by graphene oxide (GO) nanosheets with ZIF-67 derived Co 3 S 4 catalyst immobilized on. The characterization by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Raman spectroscopy and X-ray photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS) indicates the successful fabrication of Co 3 S 4 @GO nanosheets. The uniformly dispersed Co 3 S 4 nanoparticles immobilized on GO nanosheets in the range of 3–5 nm and the thickness of the CMNR is in the range of 206–1091 nm can be determined by Transmission electron microscope (TEM) and Scanning electron microscope (SEM), respectively. The catalytic performance of this CMNR has been evaluated by 4-nitrothiophenol (4-NTP) reduction under the flow-through mode. The 4-NTP conversion of over 99% can be achieved under the condition of membrane flux of being 144.4 L·m −2 ·h −1 . The uniformly dispersed Co 3 S 4 with small size and the confined two-dimensional channels with nano scale for enhanced mass transfer can be contributed to the good catalytic performance of this CMNR. High 4-NTP conversion and nice stability can be achieved for a long time by this CMNR under the condition of humic acid mixed in the reactant solution, since the CMNR is resistant to the poisoning of catalysts by humic acid.

In this work, a two-step calcination method to fabricate Co3O4@CoP hollow nanoparticles embedded in N, S-co-doped reduced graphene oxide substrates is reported. The electrocatalyst is synthesized through a hydrothermal-calcination method of adding graphene oxide using ZIF-67 as a template followed by an annealing process in the presence of NaH2PO4·H2O. In the designed electrocatalyst, the formed hollow nanoparticles had an average diameter of 100 nm. The synthesized electrocatalyst displays a hydrogen evolution reaction overpotential of 54 mV at 10 mA cm–2 current density in 0.5 mol L–1 H2SO4 solution at room temperature, comparable to Pt/C catalysts. The oxygen evolution reaction overpotential in 1 mol L–1 KOH electrolyte is 288 mV, which is almost equivalent to that of IrO2. Stated thus, the as-prepared composite catalysts are promising candidates for bifunctional catalysts for water splitting technology, relieving the limitation of commercial catalysts caused by their single catalytic performance.

Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), as a typical type of porous materials, are widely used as fillers in mixed matrix membranes (MMMs) to enhance the gas separation performance. However, non-selective interface defects are prone to appear in MMMs under high MOF loading conditions, meanwhile, the discontinuous dispersion of MOF particles in polymeric matrices makes the gas molecules diffuse along the MOF-polymer-MOF intersection path and difficult to achieve efficient molecular transfer. These factors greatly compromise the ability of MOF to enhance membrane separation performance. Herein, the [C 5 min][BF 4 ] encapsulated ZIF-67 (IL@ZIF) composites were embedded into the defect-free IL/Pebax ion gel matrix to form a mixed matrix ion gel membrane without interface defects. On the basis of good interfacial compatibility, the relatively continuous and highly selective CO 2 transmission channels were constructed via increasing the filler loading up to 80 wt%. In this context, the typical IL@ZIF/IL/Pebax membrane with 80 wt% IL content and 70 wt% IL@ZIF doping amount exhibits a CO 2 permeability of 408.2 Barrer and CO 2 /N 2 selectivity of 97.2, surpassing the latest upper line. This work may have high reference value in the construction and preparation of MOF-based MMMs with high performance in gas separation.

Designing highly efficient non-precious metal electrocatalysts to facilitate overall water decomposition is critical and highly desirable, but still challenging. In this study, we synthesized ZIF-67@POM nanomaterials by doping H3PMo12O40 in ZIF-67. The molybdenum-doped carbon matrix can effectively reduce CoP agglomeration, which is conducive to improving the specific surface area and active sites of the catalyst. The doping of Mo also optimizes the electronic structure of Mo-CoP-100 and improves its electrocatalytic activity. Compared with CoP derived from pristine ZIF-67, the optimal Mo-CoP-100 exhibits significantly enhanced oxygen evolution reaction (OER) catalytic activity with an almost constant overpotential of 290 mV to maintain a stable current density of 10 mA cm−2 in alkaline media for at least 100 h. Furthermore, compared with traditional precious metal-free OER electrocatalysts, the Mo-CoP catalysts prepared in this work have high specific surface area, rich surface-active sites, good cycling stability and high diffusion efficiency.

The extracellular domain of the human epidermal growth factor receptor (HER2-ECD) is a breast cancer biomarker. Accurate and sensitive detection of HER2-ECD concentration in serum is crucial in the diagnosis and patient follow-up. Herein, an “off–on” type electrochemiluminescence (ECL) aptasensor based on the resonance energy transfer (RET) between AuPt@ZIF-67 and AuNPs/g-C3N4/PDDA was developed for detecting HER2-ECD. First, AuNP-modified g-C3N4 (AuNPs/g-C3N4/PDDA), as a signal substrate, generates ECL signals under the co-reactant peroxodisulfate (S2O82–) in a specific potential range and shows significantly enhanced signal strength and stability. Then, AuPt@ZIF-67 expeditiously quenched the ECL signal of AuNPs/g-C3N4/PDDA because of ECL resonance energy transfer (ECL-RET) between AuPt@ZIF-67 and AuNPs/g-C3N4/PDDA. We designed a new aptasensor detection platform for HER2-ECD detection. After specific binding of the aptamer with HER2-ECD, the AuPt@ZIF-67 content in the system decreased, and the ECL response recovered. The biosensor demonstrated a linear range of HER2-ECD detection between 100 fg/mL and 100 ng/mL under ideal circumstances, with a low detection limit of 17.3 fg/mL. Furthermore, this biosensor was successfully tested in human serum samples. This strategy, as a novel ECL system with satisfactory stability and excellent sensitivity, can realize the detection of other biological molecules by changing the probe, which is a promising method.

The preparation of raw materials is an important prerequisite for studying the function of natural active ingredients. Here, the preparation of MWCNTs/ZIF-67@MIPs based on surface molecular imprinting technology for the separation of bilobalide (BB) from real samples was proposed. The successful preparation of MWCNTs/ZIF-67@MIPs was demonstrated using several techniques. Adsorption equilibrium was achieved when the time was 4 h, and the rate of adsorption calculated from the dynamic adsorption results was 14.2 μg mL –1 h –1 . The maximum adsorption amount for MWCNTs/ZIF-67@MIPs of BB was calculated to be 59.2 mg g –1 , which was more than three times that for MWCNTs/ZIF-67@NIPs (23.1 mg g –1 ), and the Freundlich isotherm model and pseudo-second-order kinetic model were more suitable for the explanation of isothermal and kinetic adsorption behaviors, respectively. The results of selective adsorption indicated that MWCNTs/ZIF-67@MIPs show excellent selectivity and specificity for BB compared to structurally similar compounds such as ginkgolides A, B and C, with an excellent imprinting factor (2.83). The results of reuse studies indicated that MWCNTs/ZIF-67@MIPs exhibited great reproducibility with a recovery rate of 70.8% after repeated use for five times. Finally, the developed MWCNTs/ZIF-67@MIPs were used as a solid-phase extraction sorbent to directly separate BB from treated gingko leaf extract and crude extract of BB, and the results suggested that the purity of BB in the two samples was increased by about 30%, and the recoveries reached 68.34% and 71.54%, respectively. Meanwhile, the separation effect of MWCNTs/ZIF-67@MIPs on BB was better than that of BBMIP prepared by bulk polymerization. © 2021 Society of Industrial Chemistry.

Hydrogen fuel cells (HFCs) and water electrolysis are emerging clean energy technologies that can alleviate the problems of environmental pollution and energy shortage. Oxygen Extraction Reaction (OER) is a slow four-electron transfer process with a high energy barrier, and often regarded as the bottleneck of a series of clean energy technologies. In this paper, NiMoO 4 nanorods (denoted as NMO) were in situ grown on nickel foam substrate, and then ZIF-67 nanoparticles were assembled onto NiMoO 4 nanorods (denoted as NMO@ZIF-67). Finally, the surface layers of NiMoO 4 nanorods and ZIF-67 nanoparticles were vulcanized by hydrothermal treatment for 6 h to obtain the catalyst NiMoO 4 @NiMoCo-S-6 (denoted as NMO@NMC-S-6). In 1 M KOH aqueous solution, NMO@NMC-S-6 exhibited excellent electrochemical performance, only 176 mV and 243 mV overpotentials were required at current densities of 10 and 100 mA cm -2 , respectively, and Tafel slope of NMO@NMC-S-6 is 24.81 mV dec -1 . In addition, benefitting from the combined structure of nanorods and nanoparticles effectively prevented nanoparticles aggregation and enhanced its own structure and transport channel stability, NMO@NMC-S-6 showed remarkable stability in 20 h electrochemical test. This work brings a reference orientation for constructing cost-efficient alkaline OER catalyst through structure combination strategy.

Catalysts consisting of Zeolite imidazolyl ester skeleton-67 (ZIF-67) and graphene oxide (GO) were fabricated through a solvothermal method, followed by etching ZIF-67 with oxygen-rich functional groups on GO in a reduction atmosphere at 400 °C. During this process, an open type of cobalt metal center was formed by the partial vaporization and oxidation of ZIF-67, further reducing to Co and partially combining with oxygen species to amorphous CoO x . Benefiting from the rich functional N, and metal/oxides active centers derived from the calcination process, the synthesized Co/CoO x @NSG-400 showed a low OER overpotential of 10 mA·cm −2 at 298 mV, and an ORR half-wave potential of 0.8 V, which demonstrated its excellent bifunctional catalytic activity. Such a controllable calcination strategy with high yields could be expected to pave the way for synthesizing low-cost and efficient bifunctional electrocatalysts.

Halonitrophenols (HNPs) are an emerging type of aromatic disinfection byproduct, with detected concentrations of ∼nmol L−1 in source water and drinking water. Currently, there are no standard methods for identifying HNPs, and most of the reported methods are time-consuming and equipment-dependent. A core–shell metal–organic framework (MOF) based electrochemical sensor (Ag/ZIF-8@ZIF-67) capable of detecting 2,6-dichloro-4-nitrophenol (2,6-DCNP) is reported in this study. The electrochemical sensor obtains the concentration of 2,6-DCNP by detecting the peak current passing through the sensor. In this sensor, Ag nanoparticles (AgNPs) play a key role in electrochemical sensing by reducing nitro groups via electron transfer, and porous structure with a large surface area is offered by ZIF-8@ZIF-67. The cyclic voltammetry (CV) response of Ag/ZIF-8@ZIF-67 was found to be approximately 1.75 times and 2.23 times greater than that of Ag/ZIF-8 and Ag/ZIF-67, respectively, suggesting an ideal synergistic effect of the core–shell structures. The Ag/ZIF-8@ZIF-67 sensor exhibited exceptional sensitivity to 2,6-DCNP, exhibiting a broad linear response range (R2 = 0.992) from 240 nmol L−1 to 288 μmol L−1 and a low detection limit of 20 nmol L−1. Furthermore, the sensor exhibited good anti-interference for isomers and common distractors in water, excellent stability and reproducibility, and high recovery in actual water samples. Our reported sensor gives a novel strategy for sensitive, selective, and in situ detection of 2,6-DCNP in practical analysis.
