At present, the problem of electromagnetic wave (EMW) pollution is critical, and the design of high-performance absorbers is of great significance. Based on the synergy between dielectric and magnetic losses, and between multicomponents in heterostructures, the development of light-weight absorbers with a strong absorption capability and multiple scattering is a promising strategy to achieve high-performance absorbers. In this work, CoFe-MOF precursors with a bouquet-like structure were prepared via the hydrothermal method, and Co 7 Fe 3 /C and Co 9 S 8 /Fe/CoS 2 /C composites were obtained through a carbonization and sulfuration treatment during the high-temperature pyrolysis process, respectively. The experimental and theoretical results show that the Co 9 S 8 /FeCoS 2 /C composite has a better EMW absorption performance, and its optimal reflection loss (RL) value is -53.9 dB at a low filler loading of 20 wt.%, which is due to the S doping that enhances the interface polarization relaxation process and improves the impedance matching characteristics. Moreover, the Co 9 S 8 /FeCoS 2 /C composite can be as candidates of high-efficiency absorbers in extreme application environments.

The preparation of low-cost and high-activity oxygen evolution reaction (OER) catalysts is a technical bottleneck in the field of electrolysis of water to produce hydrogen. Amorphous metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) with low-cost transition metals have attracted increasing attention in the catalytic field, yet metal atoms that are the main active sites are still ambiguous. Here, we synthesized a series of amorphous ternary Fex(NiCu)3−x-MOFs via an ultrasonic method. The optimal amorphous FeNiCu-MOF is found to be able to supply a current density of 10 mA cm−2 merely at a low overpotential of 260 mV with a small Tafel slope of 61 mV dec−1 and exhibits high durability over 24 h. Moreover, density functional theory (DFT) calculations show that the Fe atoms are the main active sites for the OER in the FeNiCu-MOF. This work shows that amorphous ternary MOFs have great potential for application in OER electrocatalysts due to the multiple synergistic effects and amorphous MOF structures.

The development of feasible and facile method to construct oxygen vacancies on metal oxides is crucial for improving their gas sensing properties. In this work, we developed a highly sensitive and stable CO gas sensor based on metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) template-derived Pt nanoparticles (NPs)-functionalized CeO 2 nanorods (Pt-CeO 2 ) with abundant oxygen vacancies through facile solvothermal method. The obtained Pt-CeO 2 -based sensors exhibit good thermal stability and superior CO sensing performance with high response value of 47.7% towards 500 ppm CO at 300 °C, which is higher than that of the pristine CeO 2 sensor (17.8%). Moreover, Pt-CeO 2 -based sensor exhibits excellent selectivity, rapid response/recovery speed (9/11 s) and remarkable long-term stability toward CO. Finally, the enhanced CO sensing mechanism is proposed through a combination of experiments and characterizations, which is attributed to porous structure, abundant oxygen vacancies and electron sensitization effect of Pt NPs. This work not only provides unique insights into the facile design of metal oxide-based nanomaterials with abundant oxygen vacancies, but also has great application potential in building sensing systems for fast CO detection.

Laccase, as an environmentally friendly biocatalyst with high catalytic efficiency and less by-product, has huge potential in the field of biodegradation and attracted extensive attention. However, the substrates range of laccase was limited by its low redox potential. The involvement of redox mediators which are called the laccase-mediator system (LMS) can expand the substrate range of laccase to non-phenolic substances and improve its degradation efficiency. Herein, a co-immobilized method with practical application possibilities of laccase and 2,2-Azino-bis-3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic Acid (ABTS) was developed for the treatment of dyes that could not be directly degraded by laccase in wastewater. An amino-functionalized metal–organic framework (MOF), UiO-66(Zr)–NH 2 , was grown in situ on polyethylene terephthalate (PET) using a hydrothermal method, and the obtained composites were acted as the carrier of laccase. Laccase was covalently immobilized on the PET/UiO-66(Zr)–NH 2 , and then ABTS was fixed to the pores of the UiO-66(Zr)–NH 2 by adsorption, realizing the co-immobilization of ABTS and laccase, named PET/ABTS@UiO-66(Zr)–NH 2 /Lac. PET/UiO-66(Zr)–NH 2 /Lac enhanced the pH stability of free laccase under acidic conditions, and also has a higher affinity for substrate and great recyclability. The resultant lamellar biocatalyst (PET/ABTS@UiO-66(Zr)–NH 2 /Lac) was used in the degradation of crystal violet (CV), and the CV removal was increased from 8.61% (free laccase) to 58.80% in 24 h. The removal of malachite green (MG), alizarin green (AG), and methyl orange (MO) was up to 64.82%, 61.61%, and 21.12%, respectively. The laccase and ABTS could be recycled synchronously, which avoided the loss of activity of the system. This work provides a navigation reference for the co-immobilization of LMS by MOFs.

With the increasing demand for freshwater resources , the sustainable and effective utilization of atmospheric water has become a critical issue. Herein, an efficient and stable monolithic water-adsorbent is designed via functionalizing glass fiber paper loaded with two-linker metal-organic frameworks (CGF-mixed-MOFs(Al)). Firstly, a chitosan (CTS) polyelectrolyte layer is constructed on glass fiber paper to improve the MOFs loading capacity (306.71%) through electrostatic interaction and hydrophilic interaction. Subsequently, a series of two-linker metal-organic frameworks (mixed-MOFs(Al)) composed of MIL-160(Al) and Al-fumarate are tailor-made on CGF surface through a situ synthesis self-assembly technology . The resultant mixed-MOFs(Al) monolith exhibits better water harvesting ability and faster adsorption kinetics at low humidity owing to possessing more active adsorption sites. Different from CGF-MIL-160(Al) and CGF-Al-fumarate, the water sorption of CGF-mixed-MOFs(Al) 5 at 30% RH, 25% RH and 20% RH reaches 0.37 g/g, 0.31 g/g and 0.25 g/g, respectively. The lab-scale atmospheric water harvesting device based on CGF-mixed-MOFs(Al) 5 confirms the feasibility of this work-tailored product as a potential water sorbent in low-humidity environments. The cyclability results (50 times) indicate that CGF-mixed-MOFs(Al) 5 maintains good water capture performance, integrity (no MOFs leakage) and crystallinity , which guarantees its working reliability and sustainable benefits. Therefore, our customized water adsorption system provides a simple, long-effective, economical and advanced strategy to capture more fresh water from atmosphere in arid climates.

Abstract A facile one-step route was presented to prepared NH 2 -MIL-88B(Fe) and Fe 3 O 4 modified reduced graphene oxide nanoparticles (NH 2 -MIL-88B(Fe)@MRGO) as mimic enzymes. The as-prepared NH 2 -MIL-88B(Fe)@MRGO exhibits a higher affinity for hydrogen peroxide and thus possessed a prominent peroxidase-mimic activity. Under the most favorable conditions, the hybrid nanomaterials with high catalytic velocity (2.57 × 10 −7 M s −1 ) and affinity (Km = 0.0091 mM) for substrates of H 2 O 2 display a great glucose detection performance in the range of 20–800 μM with a Limit of detection (LOD) of 3.16 μM (S/N = 3). Graphic Abstract Favorable mimic enzymes catalysis is achieved on NH 2 -MIL-88B(Fe) and Fe 3 O 4 modified reduced graphene oxide nanoparticles (NH 2 -MIL-88B(Fe)@MRGO) for glucose detection.

In this paper, the electrocatalytic efficiency of bi-metallic organic framework compounds grown on nickel foam (NF) has been enhanced by adjusting the amount of iron and cobalt precursors. A unique wedge-like morphology was observed in Fe-1-Co-1-MOF. The optimized Fe-1-Co-1-MOF (1:1 of molar ratio of iron to cobalt) exhibits superior catalytic activity to oxygen evolution reaction (OER) performance with a lowest overpotential of only 233 mV at a current density of 10 mA·cm−2 and the higher current density of 400 mA·cm−2 can be provided at overpotential of 264 mV. The Tafel slope in alkaline aqueous solutions was 24.4 mV·dec−1. After 10 h of continuous operation, the catalyst showed only a slight loss of current density at 50 mA·cm−2. This success may be attributed to synergy between the bi-metallic organic framework catalyst and the large pores of conductive nickel foam, as well as the synergistic effect between the two phases molecules of the bi-metallic organic framework metal.

The polyvinylamine (PVAm) was respectively modified by the MOFs (IRMOF-3 and ZIF-8) with amine groups that were characterized by TEM, SEM and XRD . The PVAm-MOFs/polysulfone (mPSf) mixed matrix membranes (MMMs) were fabricated by coating different PVAm-MOFs mixtures on mPSf ultrafiltration membranes. The performance of the PVAm-MOFs/mPSf and PVAm/mPSf membranes for CO 2 /CH 4 separation was investigated. Compared with the PVAm/mPSf virgin membrane, PVAm-MOFs/mPSf MMMs display higher CO 2 separation performance due to the decreased membrane effective thickness and incorporation of amine-rich nanochannels. Furthermore, compared with PVAm-ZIF-8/mPSf MMM, the PVAm-IRMOF-3/mPSf MMM possesses higher CO 2 /CH 4 separation performance. Then the CO 2 /CH 4 separation performance of the PVAm-IRMOF-3/mPSf MMMs with different IRMOF-3 loadings was studied. Compared with other reported membranes, the PVAm-IRMOF-3/mPSf MMM loaded 25 wt% IRMOF-3 shows higher CO 2 /CH 4 separation performance at both low and high feed pressure.

Most metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are synthesized from carboxylate and metal precursors by hydrothermal process, which will consume a large amount of solvent and carboxylate. To address this issue, a new strategy for Cu-based MOFs was developed, in which the Cu-based MOFs was obtained by using abundant natural polymer (tannic acid) as one of the precursors and using high-energy ball milling to achieve a self-assembly of tannic acid and copper sulfate. Based on this strategy, a novel Cu-based MOFs derivative (Cu x O@C composite) was synthesized by high-temperature sintering of Cu-based MOFs and used for sulfamerazine (SMR) removal via O 2 activation. The BET specific surface area and average pore size of Cu x O@C composite were 110.34 m 2 g −1 and 21.06 nm, respectively, which made Cu x O@C composite had the maximum adsorption capacity ( Q max ) for SMR of 104.65 mg g −1 and favored the subsequent degradation of SMR. The results from XRD and XPS indicated that Cu x O@C composite contained a lot of Cu 0 and Cu 2 O with the sizes of 76.6 nm and 9.8 nm, respectively, which led to its high performance of O 2 activation. The removal efficiency of SMR and 90.2% TOC achieved 100% and 90.2%, respectively in the Cu x O@C/air system at initial pH of 4.0, air flow rate of 100 mL min −1 , Cu x O@C dosage of 1 g L −1 and reaction time of 30 min. Reactive species, including H 2 O 2 , OH and O 2 - radicals were detected in the Cu x O@C/air system, and OH and O 2 - were mainly responsible for the degradation of SMR.

Metal organic frameworks (MOFs) have raised considerable interest because of their favorable impacts on the performance of water treatment membranes. Herein, the novel nanocomposite based on both nanoporous MOFs and hydrophilic carbon quantum dots (CQDs) was exploited as a novel dopant for the fabrication of PES ultrafiltration (UF) membranes. CQDs were synthesized via pyrolysis of citric acid, and UiO-66-NH 2 @CQDs were synthesized via the condensation reactions of CQDs and UiO-66-NH 2 using EDC and NHS as the condensating agents. The properties of resulting membranes on the porosity, membrane morphology, hydrophilicity, permeability and anti-fouling performance were adequately investigated. The membranes incorporated with UiO-66-NH 2 @CQDs exhibited significantly improved water flux (up to 358.5 Lm −2 h −1 ), which was ~1.82 times that of pristine PES membrane. Additionally, the BSA rejections rates for the hybrid membranes were all maintained above 95.0%. Furthermore, the hybrid membranes exhibited enhanced anti-fouling performance and the highest flux recovery ratio ( FRR ) of the hybrid membrane with 0.5% UiO-66-NH 2 @CQDs reached 77.6%. The membranes incorporated with UiO-66-NH 2 @CQDs exhibited better permeability and anti-fouling performance than those incorporated with CQDs or UiO-66-NH 2 . This work reveals that the novel hydrophilic nanofillers combining CQDs and MOFs exhibit great potential for application in water treatment membranes.

In this study, magnetic Cu and Ni bimetallic particles embedded carbon sheets, namely as C@Cu–Ni, was derived via calcining a mixture of Cu-MOFs and Ni-MOFs (mass ratio = 4:6) under N 2 protection and served as a catalyst for the degradation of 2,4,6-trichlorophenol (2,4,6-TCP) by peroxymonosulfate (PMS). The results showed that more than 98.5% of 2,4,6-TCP (10 mg L −1 ) was rapidly decomposed at initial pH = 5, PMS = 1 mM and catalyst dosage = 0.1 g L −1 within 30 min, accompanied by 42.47% removal of total organic carbon (TOC). This fully confirmed that C@Cu–Ni possessed excellent catalytic performance for PMS activation . The radical quenching experiments and electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) investigation testified that the reactive oxygen species (ROS) included SO 4 •− , • OH, O 2 •− radicals and singlet oxygen ( 1 O 2 ), which were responsible for the rapid degradation of 2,4,6-TCP. Among them, O 2 •− and 1 O 2 played a decisive role. Cyclic voltammograms (CV) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) revealed that C@Cu–Ni material possessed superior electrical conductivity and electron transfer , improving its catalytic activity . What is more, C@Cu–Ni displayed excellent stability and could be consecutively used for five times without any decline of catalytic performance. The main intermediates of the 2,4,6-TCP degradation were analyzed by high-performance liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (HPLC-MS/MS) and possible pathways of 2,4,6-TCP degradation were further proposed. The extraordinary stability and superior catalytic activity of C@Cu–Ni coupled with its easy separation from wastewater due to magnetism suggest that the newly synthesized material may offer a promising alternative approach to efficiently degrade organic pollutants by PMS.

Dielectric polymer/composites films with excellent capacitive performance has initiated enormous interest from both academic and industry because of their great potential as flexible and light-weight electrostatic capacitors for modern electric and electronic systems. In this work, we report a novel flexible dielectric composite film consisting of poly (vinylidene fluoride-co-hexafluoropropylene) (P(VDF-HFP)) and dopamine-modified metal-organic frameworks Co 3 [Co(CN) 6 ] 2 (D-M) with excellent capacitive performance for energy storage application . It is found that the D-M show good compatibility with P(VDF-HFP), permitting a high breakdown strength for composites. Meanwhile, the large specific surface area and special porous three-dimensional nanostructure of D-M also has the effect of raising dielectric performance while eliminating the inherent ferroelectric loss of P(VDF-HFP), resulting in considerably promoted discharge energy density . Furthermore, D-M is found to favor the formation of γ-phase in P(VDF-HFP), which is also advantageous to raise the discharge energy density. Upon a small loading of 0.6 wt% D-M, the composites perform a maximum discharge energy density of 11.89 J/cm 3 and discharge efficiency of 71.28% at 350 MV/m, which are 3.04 times and 1.25 times those of the pure P(VDF-HFP) film, respectively. For the first time, we demonstrate that the applicability of flexible D-M/P(VDF-HFP) dielectric composites as advanced electrostatic capacitors, providing a new sight for the design of dielectrics with high capacitive performance.
