Solid-state polymer electrolytes (SPEs) are candidate schemes for meeting the safety and energy density needs of advanced lithium-based battery because of their improved mechanical and electrochemical stability compared to traditional liquid electrolytes. However, low ionic conductivity and side reactions occurring in traditional high-voltage lithium metal batteries (LMBs) hinder their practical applications. Here, amino-modified metal-organic frameworks (UiO-66-NH 2 ) with abundant defects as multifunctional fillers in the polyurethane based SPEs achieve the collaborative promotion of the mechanical strength and room temperature ionic conductivity. The surface modified amino groups serve as anchoring points for oxygen atoms of polymer chains, forming a firmly hydrogen-bond interface with polycarbonate-based polyurethane frameworks. The rich interfaces between UiO-66-NH 2 and polymers dramatically decrease the crystallization of polymer chains and reduce ion transport impedance, which markedly boosted the ionic conductivity to 2.1 × 10 −4 S·cm −1 with a high Li + transference numbers of 0.71. As a result, LiFePO 4 ∣SPEs∣Li cells exhibit prominent cyclability for 700 cycles under 0.5 C with 96.5% capacity retention. The LiNi 0.6 Co 0.2 Mn 0.2 O 2 (NCM622)∣SPEs∣Li cells deliver excellent long-term lifespan for 260 cycles with a high capacity retention of 91.9% and high average Coulombic efficiency (98.5%) under ambient conditions. This simple and effective hybrid SPE design strategy sheds a milestone significance light for high-voltage Li-metal batteries.

With the continuous development of environmental protection and resource recycling demands, the development of bio-based separation membrane materials has increasingly attracted attention. Bio-based polyamide 56 (PA56), exhibiting excellent hydrophilicity, spinnability, and mechanical properties, is expected to complement and replace traditional separation membrane materials. In this study, the electrospinning preparation and structural control of PA56 nanofiber membranes were achieved through the optimization of PA56 content and mixed solvent ratios. The study found that when the PA56 content was 16 wt% and the formic acid to acetone ratio in the mixed solvent was 8:2, the nanofiber diameter distribution was the most uniform. Building on this, amino-functionalized modified silica (SiO 2 –NH 2 ) nanoparticles were introduced to prepare PA56/SiO 2 –NH 2 composite nanofiber membranes featuring a cobweb-like nanofiber network and micro-nodule structure. The effects of the addition of SiO 2 –NH 2 nanoparticles on the morphology, structure, and properties of the fiber membranes were studied. The results indicate that the control of the mixed solvent ratio and the addition of SiO 2 –NH 2 nanoparticles led to the formation of a cobweb-like nanofiber network and micro-nano nodular structure on the nanofiber surface, enhancing the hydrophilicity of PA56 nanofiber membranes. The M − 3 membrane with a nanoparticle addition amount of 0.8 wt% exhibited high hydrophilicity and underwater superoleophobic properties, achieving efficient separation of stable oil-in-water emulsions with a separation efficiency of 99.8 %. This work provides a new bio-based membrane material and its preparation method for treating oily wastewater using the membrane separation method.

Graphical This work describes the application of a highly efficient catalyst (NH 2 -UiO-66-Mo) to the catalytic oxidation desulfurization process. NH 2 -UiO-66-Mo can greatly improve the efficiency of oxidative desulfurization The optimum operating conditions of NH 2 -UiO-66-Mo are investigated through experiments, which prove the excellent performance of the catalyst, and the reaction mechanism is further studied through a series of characterizations. A highly efficient oxidative desulfurization composite catalyst NH 2 -Uio-66-Mo has been prepared and applied in the catalytic oxidative desulfurization. It was elucidated that Mo 6+ could increase the oxygen vacancies and active sites on the catalyst and increase the pore size of UiO-66. Meanwhile, the removal rate of dibenzothiophene (DBT) reached 99.2 % after 60 min under optimal conditions and remained above 90 % after 5 cycles, showing the composite catalyst's remarkable catalytic performance and satisfactory reusability NH 2 -UiO-66-Mo. In addition, kinetic studies revealed that the desulfurization process can present a pseudo-first-order kinetic process. The apparent activation energy was 10.6 kJ/mol. Finally, in combination with oxides, possible oxidation pathways were identified.

Critical challenges associate with zinc anodes, including dendritic growth and uncontrollable side reactions, severely hinder the long-term cycling stability of aqueous zinc-ion batteries (AZIBs). To address these issues, we propose an interfacial engineering strategy by constructing functional coating layers on Zn anode surfaces. Building upon the hydrophobic metal-organic framework-5 ( MOF-5) coating, we further introduce zincophilic -NH 2 groups to develop amino-modified MOF-5 (NMOF-5) coatings, which synergistically combine the hydrophobic protection of MOF-5 with accelerated Zn 2+ transport. Experimental results demonstrate that the NMOF-5 interlayer offers high interfacial ion transport capability, promotes uniform Zn deposition, and effectively suppresses hydrogen evolution reaction and corrosion. Remarkably, even with an ultra-thin Zn foil (20 μm), the NMOF-5@Zn symmetric cell achieve exceptional cycling stability, delivering a lifespan exceeding 2000 h at 1 mA cm −2 /1 mAh cm −2 , while the NMOF-5@Zn//Cu half-cell maintained a high Coulombic efficiency of 99.8 % over 1000 cycles. Furthermore, the NMOF-5@Zn//VOH full cell retain substantial capacity retention after 1000 cycles at 5 A g −1 . These findings highlight the superiority of functional interlayer strategy, providing critical insights for developing high-performance and long-cycling AZIBs.

The high toxicity and persistence of nitroaromatic pollutants pose a serious threat to aquatic ecosystems. In this study, inert SiO 2 was employed as an "inactive enhancer" to construct core-shell MIL-125-NH 2 @ZIF-67/SiO 2 (M@Z/SiO 2 ) heterogeneous MOF catalysts via an epitaxial-wet impregnation method, enabling the efficient reduction of p -nitrophenol ( p -NP) under ambient temperature and pressure. Although SiO 2 itself lacks catalytic activity, the micro-mesoporous network it forms effectively disperses Co active sites and prevents their aggregation. The conversion rate of p -NP increased from 92.5% to 98.4% within 6 min and retained 98% activity after three consecutive cycles. Moreover, the catalyst exhibited excellent stability across a wide pH range (3-11) and in various anionic environments. Mechanistic studies revealed that the interfacial electron transfer between ZIF-67 and MIL-125-NH 2 significantly reduces the activation energy barrier of NaBH 4 . Additionally, the incorporation of SiO 2 not only enhances the mechanical stability of the composite but also optimizes pore structure and substrate mass transfer by modulating surface hydrophilicity. This work provides valuable insights for the precise design of MOF-on-MOF heterostructures and the synergistic engineering of interfacial and surface properties in environmental catalytic materials.

In this study, a novel nanocomposite scaffold comprising pectin, gelatin, and amoxicillin trihydrate-loaded UiO-66-NH 2 metal-organic frameworks (UiO-66-NH 2 @AMX) was fabricated for skin tissue engineering applications. UiO-66-NH 2 nanoparticles were synthesized hydrothermally and subsequently loaded with amoxicillin trihydrate. Finally, UiO-66-NH 2 @AMX nanoparticles were incorporated into pectin-gelatin scaffolds using the freeze-drying method. FE-SEM imaging confirmed the octahedral morphology of the nanoparticles before and after drug loading. FTIR analysis demonstrated successful drug incorporation via non-covalent interactions. DLS and zeta potential measurements showed that UiO-66-NH 2 nanoparticles had a mean size of 218.5 ± 14 nm and a surface charge of +44.1 ± 2.7 mV. After drug loading, the size slightly increased to 248.8 ± 19 nm, and the surface charge decreased to +32.6 ± 2.5 mV, while maintaining colloidal stability. All of the scaffolds showed porous structures with interconnected pores in SEM imaging. The incorporation of UiO-66-NH 2 @AMX nanoparticles into the pectin-gelatin scaffolds up to 3 % (w/w) increased the tensile strength and Young's modulus of the scaffolds 37.6 % and 56.7 %, respectively. Antibacterial activity was evaluated by CFU assay, where UiO-66-NH 2 @AMX containing scaffolds revealed significant bacterial reduction against E. coli and S. aureus colonies. MTT, cell adhesion, and cell scratch assays conducted on L929 fibroblasts. All of the scaffolds demonstrated >85 % cell viability after 3 days of culture. Furthermore, scaffolds with 3 % (w/w) UiO-66-NH 2 @AMX enhanced cell adhesion and increased migration rate in scratch closure assay. Overall, the results indicate that the novel nanocomposite scaffolds are promising candidates for skin tissue engineering and wound healing applications.

Water decontamination from arsenic-contaminated groundwater is critical to the health of millions of households worldwide. However, efficiently removing the low-adsorbing As(III) remains challenging. Herein, a multifunctional biocomposite bead UiO-66-NH 2 -Cl@PCB integrating defects, oxidation and adsorption properties was prepared to effectively remove As(III). The N -chlorosulfonamide bound within the embedded UiO-66-NH 2 -Cl oxidizes the lower-adsorbing As(III) to As(V), which could be effectively adsorbed by the defect-rich MOF, while the porous chitosan bead (PCB) host ensures the utilisation of the reactive sites of UiO-66-NH 2 -Cl. Using 1 g/L of UiO-66-NH 2 -Cl@PCB, 1 mg/L of As(III) can be reduced to under 10 μg/L in 300 min. Furthermore, similar As(III) removal efficiencies were achieved across a wide pH spectrum (3–9) or in the presence of interfering substances (anions, cations, organic matter). High concentrations of phosphate will inhibit its performance. As(III) removal followed the Freundlich isotherm modal, and its maximum removal capacity reached 58.09 mg/g at pH 7. Furthermore, at equilibrium concentrations of 10 μg/L, its As(III) removal capacity exceeded 10 mg/g. UiO-66-NH 2 -Cl@PCB can purify the As(III)-spiked groundwater to meet the drinking standard level. Using NaOH solution for regeneration, the removal efficiency maintained above 70 % in the fifth cycle. Additional chlorination treatment can significantly improve reusability. 2.4 g of UiO-66-NH 2 -Cl@PCB packed fixed-bed column was capable of purifying 3820 BV of groundwater containing 100 μg/L of As(III). The proposed UiO-66-NH 2 -Cl@PCB has the potential to be an easy-to-use and reliable material for efficient As(III) removal.

Metal-Organic Frameworks (MOFs) have been widely used for the antibiotic pollution control. However, it remains a challenge to simple design and synthesis of multifunctional MOFs for sensing and degradation antibiotics. Herein, a multifunctional UiO-66(Zr/Ce)-NH 2 ratiometric fluorescence sensing and photocatalytic degradation platform was rapidly and simply constructed at room temperature by a one-pot method using a dielectric barrier discharge device. The mixed-metal centers and mixed-ligands of this platform enabled effective ratiometric fluorescence sensing of tetracycline (TC), along with a visual fluorescence shift from blue to yellow-green color. The platform demonstrated a detection of TC ranged from 200 nM to 15 μM, with a detection limit of 43 nM. Moreover, the UiO-66(Zr/Ce)-NH 2 exhibited strong light absorption and efficient photogenerated carrier separation, thus offering excellent degradation performance of TC compared with that of MOFs with single metal center, mixed ligands or mixed metal centers. The mechanism of fluorescence detection and potential charge transfer pathways by the UiO-66(Zr/Ce)-NH 2 were analyzed. This work provided a new approach for the simple design and synthesis of multifunctional MOFs platforms.

CA125 (carbohydrate antigen 125) is an important biomarker of ovarian cancer, so developing effective method for its detection is of great significance. In the present work, a novel sandwich-like electrochemical immunosensor (STEM) of CA125 was constructed by preparing nanoribbon-like Ti 3 C 2 T x MXenes (Ti 3 C 2 T x NR) to immobilize primary antibody (PAb) of CA125 and UIO-66-NH 2 MOFs structure to immobilize second antibody (SAb) and electroactive toluidine blue (Tb) probe. In this designed STEM assay, the as-prepared Ti 3 C 2 T x NR nanohybrid offers the advantages in large surface area and conductivity as carrier, and UIO-66-NH 2 provided an ideal platform to accommodate SAb and a large number of Tb molecules as signal amplifier. In the presence of CA125, the peak currents of Tb from the formed STEM structure increase with the increase of CA125 level. After optimizing the related control conditions, a wide linear range (0.2–150.0 U mL −1 ) and a very low detection limit (0.05 U mL −1 ) of CA125 were achieved. It’s thus expected the developed STEM strategy has important applications for the detection of CA125. Graphical abstract

Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) show effectiveness in gastric cancer (GC) treatment, yet enhancing their efficacy remains challenging. We encapsulated the anticancer compound Heterophyllin B (HB) in mPEG–PLGA-NH2 nanoparticles (NPs), modified with αPDL1, forming mPEG–PLGA-NH2@HB-αPDL1 NPs. These NPs displayed low toxicity to GES-1 cells and good blood compatibility. They effectively inhibited GC cell malignant phenotypes and downregulated PD-L1 expression via the PI3K/AKT pathway. In GC allograft mice, the HB and αPDL1 combination therapy outperformed monotherapy, with the NPs showing better efficacy than free drugs. Additionally, the NPs improved the tumor immune microenvironment. H&E staining confirmed no significant toxicity to major mouse organs. Thus, mPEG–PLGA-NH2@HB-αPDL1 offers a promising strategy for optimizing ICI therapy in GC treatment.

Malathion (MA) is a widely used organophosphorus pesticide globally. Developing efficient photocatalysts is crucial for eliminating MA pollution in water by photocatalytic technology. This study focuses on preparing a series of H-PDI supermolecule/NH 2 -MIL-101(Fe) (PM) materials by amidating NH 2 -MIL-101(Fe) with the more stable H-PDI supermolecule, forming a covalent O C–NH bond. Among these materials, 40 %PM (indicating a mass percentage content of 40 % H-PDI supermolecule in PM) exhibited the best performance for degradation of MA. Under simulated sunlight irradiation of a 10 mg·L 1 MA solution for 180 min, the reaction rate constants of 40 %PM were 5.95 times and 3.13 times higher than those of NH 2 -MIL-101(Fe) and H-PDI supermolecule, respectively. The enhanced performance is attributed to the formation of Z-scheme heterojunctions in the 40 %PM composite lead to fast separation of photogenerated e − and h + . Combining the results of HPLC-MS with Fukui Function, the HOMO, LUMO, and pathway of degradation of MA attracted by 1 O 2 , •OH, and h + were speculated. The pathway involves oxidation, demethylation, P-S bond breakage, decarboxylation, and final conversion to some inorganic molecules. The toxicity of the degradation byproducts were lower than that of MA estimated by Toxicity Estimation Software Tool.

BiOCl/UiO-66-NH2 photocatalysts were synthesized by a hydrothermal method. BUNH-8 (BiOCl/UiO-66-NH2 composite with 8% UiO-66-NH2) exhibits exceptional photocatalytic performance under visible-light illumination, degrading 92% of rhodamine B (RhB) within 60 minutes, which is 38.16% greater than that of pure BiOCl. The enhanced performance of the BiOCl/UiO-66-NH2 composite photocatalyst can be attributed to the distinct band structure difference between BiOCl and UiO-66-NH2, facilitating effective Z-scheme charge separation and transfer under light irradiation. Superoxide radicals were determined to be the crucial active species in the photocatalytic degradation process via electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) analysis and a simulated photocatalytic degradation experiment of the dye RhB with scavengers added. Apart from its high efficiency, BUNH-8 demonstrates excellent stability as well. Even after being reused four times, it maintains its excellent photocatalytic performance, suggesting its high potential for application.
