Present work reports preparation of colloidal single/few layer Ti 3 C 2 T x MXene flakes using minimally intensive layer delamination (MILD) method for rapid electroanalytical screening of carbamate pesticides . Lithium fluoride salt and hydrochloric acid (7.5 M LiF/9M HCl) was used to produce in-situ generated HF as etchant to remove Al successfully from Ti 3 AlC 2 MAX phase. Unlike the clay method (5 M LiF/6M HCl), this methodology simplified Ti 3 C 2 T x synthesis protocol resulting in Li + ions intercalated Ti 3 C 2 T x which was delaminated without further sonication . The delaminated Ti 3 C 2 T x flakes were found to be single/few layered sheets with mostly –OH and –O terminated surface groups. The characteristic 002 peak observed in X-ray diffraction (XRD) at 2θ = 6.4° with interplaner distance of 1.1137 nm suggested broadening of the peak attributed to the presence of Li + ions between Ti 3 C 2 T x flakes. Delaminated Ti 3 C 2 T x flakes were utilized as working electrode which demonstrated simultaneous and selective detection of carbamate pesticides methiocarb and diethofencarb by voltammetry . The oxidation peaks of the two pesticides were well separated by a potential difference of 0.35 V in 0.5 M H 2 SO 4 and DPV detection limits were calculated as 0.19 μg mL −1 and 0.46 μg mL −1 for methiocarb and diethofencarb respectively. Ti 3 C 2 T x flakes as electrochemical sensor exhibited long term stability and acceptable recoveries in real sample for environmental applications.

The drug resistance of bacteria seriously reduces the recovery rate of general disease and endangers human health. Consequently, it is urgent to investigate a non-antibiotic antibacterial material. Recently, two-dimensional MXene has shown good antibacterial properties and received extensive attention due to the large number of active sites, extremely high thermal conversion efficiency, excellent cytocompatibility and ability to penetrate pellicula. However, the antibacterial activity of Ti3C2Tx is greatly affected by the morphology and concentration. Herein, an organic–inorganic hybrid of HKUST-1@Ti3C2Tx with high specific surface area and photothermal effect was designed and fabricated. By adjusting the content of Cu(CO2CH3)2·H2O and 1,3,5-benzenetricarboxylic acid, the photothermal properties of the material can be adjusted, and the release of Cu2+ can be easily reduced. The morphological characterization and fluorescent staining of bacteria which were co-incubated with HKUST-1@Ti3C2Tx confirmed that Gram-negative bacteria (Escherichia coli) and Gram-positive bacteria (Staphylococcus aureus) had adhered to the material. NIR irradiation has enabled induced hyperthermia and the release of Cu2+ ions, causing the disruption of the bacterial membrane, resulting in cytoplasmic leakage. Furthermore, HKUST-1@Ti3C2Tx with synergistic antibacterial effect not only exhibits an excellent bactericidal rate (over 99%) but also greatly improves cytocompatibility with the reduction of the Cu2+ ion release. Therefore, organic–inorganic composites have potential for synergistic effects and non-antibiotic antibacterial activity.

Although hydrophilic and electrically conductive transition-metal carbon/nitride (MXenes) nanosheets hold great promise for electrically conductive and electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding applications, the weak interaction among MXene nanosheets makes them difficult to form compressible three-dimensional architectures with high conductivity. Herein, inspired by the plant “Parthenocissus tricuspidata”, an efficient approach is demonstrated to fabricate conductive and lightweight Ti3C2Tx MXene/acidified carbon nanotube anisotropic aerogels (MCAs) with superelasticity and high thermal insulation. The MXene nanosheets construct the anisotropic and porous skeleton, while the acidified carbon nanotubes reinforce the pore walls of MXene nanosheets, making the MCAs superelastic and compressible. The superelastic MCA with only 5 wt % of the acidified carbon nanotubes is structurally stable during cyclic compressions at both high and ultralow temperatures. Its high conductivity (447.2 S m–1) and ultralow density (9.1 mg cm–3) endow its paraffin composite with a high EMI shielding efficiency of ∼51 dB at an ultralow filler content of 0.3 vol %. When the density of MCA increases to 18.2 mg cm–3, its EMI shielding effectiveness reaches 90 dB. Additionally, the porous and ultralight MCAs exhibit better thermal insulation performances as compared to commercial melamine and polystyrene foams. Therefore, the superelastic, electrically conductive, lightweight, and thermally insulating MCAs would be promising for EMI shielding applications in space equipment and portable wearable devices.

The development of conductive greases with friction-reducing, anti-wear, and anti-electrical corrosion performance provides an effective solution to mitigate bearing electrical erosion in electrical vehicles. In this study, a titanium carbide MXene (Ti 3 C 2 T x )-based eutectic hydrogen-bonded thickener is successfully synthesized through micro-interface reactions by exploiting the different reaction rates of –NH 3 , H 2 O, and –CNO functional groups. Tribological experiments indicate that the hydrogen bonding within the Ti 3 C 2 T x -based eutectic thickener facilitates the co-release of the thickener and Ti 3 C 2 T x nanosheets at tribological interfaces, thereby enhancing the lubricating film thickness. Moreover, the M-0.5 system (Ti 3 C 2 T x concentration of 0.5 wt%) achieves a 91 % reduction in wear volume, significantly decreases contact resistance, and effectively mitigates electrical corrosion. This study presents a feasible strategy for the design of two-dimensional oil-soluble complexes for the protection of grease lubricated bearings.

In this work, a multifunctional adsorbent based on zwitterion modified Ti 3 C 2 T x MXene (MPI) was synthesized by surface grafting polymerization, followed by modification with polyethylenimine and sodium chloroacetate. This adsorbent exhibited a high density of functional groups, switchable surface charge characteristics and plenty of active sites of iminoacetic acid chelating groups. Subsequently, methylene blue, congo red, Pb(II), and Cr(VI) were selected as model compounds for cationic/anionic dyes and heavy metal ions to estimate the adsorption performance. The material exhibited exceptional adsorption capacities, and the maximum adsorption capacities were determined as 479.8 mg/g for methylene blue, 481.9 mg/g for congo red, 300.6 mg/g for Pb(II) and 265.9 mg/g for Cr(VI), respectively. Adsorption equilibrium was reached within 10–120 min and the adsorbent showcased excellent removal efficiency. Moreover, the adsorbent demonstrated excellent reusability, with no significant changes after ten consecutive adsorption-desorption cycles. Mechanism studies revealed that electrostatic attraction and chelation played dominant roles in the adsorption process. These results suggest that MPI possesses advantages of simple preparation, multifunctional integration, high adsorption performance, and good stability, making it a promising universal adsorbent for the removal of both dyes and heavy metal ions from wastewater.

Herein, a facile one-step method is developed to in situ prepare crystalline anatase and rutile TiO2 nanocrystals on Ti3C2Tx by regulating the metastable Ti ions. The combination of TiO2 nanocrystals and Ti3C2Tx not only introduces extensive accessible sites for Na+ storage, but also promotes the charge transport by efficiently relieving the collapse of Ti3C2Tx. Compared with pristine Ti3C2Tx, the optimized TiO2/Ti3C2Tx hybrid electrode (anatase/rutile-TiO2/Ti3C2Tx, A/R-TiO2/Ti3C2Tx) exhibits a desirable specific surface area (22.5 m2 g−1), an ultralow charge transfer resistance (42.46 Ω) and excellent ion diffusion (4.01 × 10−14). Remarkably, rich oxygen vacancies are produced on TiO2/Ti3C2Tx which is beneficial to enhance the insertion/de-insertion of Na+ during the charge/discharge process. As a result, the A/R-TiO2/Ti3C2Tx delivers a high average capacity of 205.4 mA h g−1 at 100 mA g−1 and a desirable capacitance retention rate of 84.7% can be achieved after 600 cycles at 500 mA g−1.

In this work, flexible free-standing Ti 3 C 2 T x -CNT/SiNPs (Si nanoparticles) resilient films with hierarchical pore are prepared by a simple and scalable self-assembly method. The Ti 3 C 2 T x nanosheets and acidified CNTs are attracted by hydrogen bonds via surface functional groups, and are further assembled with positively charged SiNPs modified by cetyltrimethyl-ammonium bromide via the electrostatic attraction. The subtle assembling and synergistic action among 0 dimensional (0D) SiNPs - 1 dimensional (1D) CNTs and 2 dimensional (2D) Ti 3 C 2 T x nanosheets offer the films with excellent mechanical flexibility, conductivity, abundant hierarchical voids and thus superior and impressive electrochemical properties as binder-free LIBs anode. The hierarchical pore structure effectively inhibits both the aggregation of SiNPs and restacking of Ti 3 C 2 T x nanosheets, provides fast electron and ion diffusion path, facilitates the penetration of electrolyte and absorbs the volume expansion of SiNPs during the charge and discharge processes. The Ti 3 C 2 T x -CNT/SiNPs film exhibits a high areal capacities up to 5.2 mAh cm −2 at the current density of 100 mA g −1 . Moreover, a good cyclic retention of 2.2 mAh cm −2 at an area mass loading of 2.3 mg cm −2 after 150 cycles is also achieved. Furthermore, a pouch cell based on the Ti 3 C 2 T x -CNT/SiNPs film anode is demonstrated, showing promising preliminary electrochemical performance and indicating the future application prospect in flexible LIBs.

As a recent rising star 2D material, MXenes have attracted great attention in many fields. However, the weak interaction induced self-stacking phenomenon and surface oxidation caused structure failure seriously hinder the practical application of MXenes. Herein we develop a biothermochemistry method to construct 3D crosslinked Ti 3 C 2 T x (3D-MX). This novel structured 3D-MX can be prepared in five different kinds of biological reagents, showing good university. After crosslinking, 3D-MX not only resists layer stacking but also exhibits extreme on-shelf stability up to 550 days. We reveal that the formation mechanism originates from the electrostatic/chemical interaction between surface functional groups and the crosslinking agents. Interestingly, the biothermochemical treated Ti 3 C 2 T x MXenes exhibit an extremely-rapid film-processed capability (only 3 min), addressing the long-standing issue of low-efficient and tedious solution-vacuum filtrated 2D films. To further verify its practical application, we assemble 3D-MX based supercapacitors that show a high specific capacitance of 265 Fg −1 at 1 A g −1 , and moreover, no supercapacitance attenuation within 720 h. This proposed biothermochemistry method to simply and rapidly build 3D Ti 3 C 2 T x crosslinked network provides a new perspective to promote the practical application of MXenes through simultaneously addressing their self-stacking and oxidative degradation issues.

Stretchable bioelectronic hydrogels must reconcile extreme mechanical compliance with stable, high-fidelity charge transport and therapeutic functionality. We introduce a Ag-anchored Ti 3 C 2 T x -polyacrylamide (PAM) hydrogel, in which silver nanoparticles bridge adjacent MXene layers, thereby lowering interlayer resistance and forming a continuous, strain-adaptive conductive network. Concurrent metal-polymer co-ordination with 2D MXene reinforcement yields a hierarchical dissipation architecture featuring ultra-stretchability (∼2036%), high toughness (∼2350 kJ m −3 ), and rapid self-recovery under cyclic loading. Electron-bridge-enabled transport results in stable electro-mechanical sensing (linear Δ R / R o up to 500% strain; R 2 ≈ 0.98) and minimized skin-electrode impedance at 1.5 mm thickness across 1 Hz−10 kHz, outperforming commercial Ag/AgCl electrodes. In human tests, the hydrogel electrodes capture high-fidelity sEMG (SNR ≈ 30 dB) and ECG (SNR ≈ 26.157 dB) with 5-day stability. At the same time, photothermal actuation at 808 nm and 1 W cm −2 rapidly reaches ∼74 ° C and cycles reproducibly, enabling dose-tunable therapeutic heating. The platform also demonstrates >90% fibroblast viability and significant suppression of S. aureus growth. By coupling interlayer electron bridges with dynamic bonding, this work establishes a unified design principle for multifunctional, clinically oriented soft hydrogels that span wearable physiological monitoring and NIR-assisted therapy.

With the increasing complexity of electromagnetic environments, microwave absorbing materials that combine high-efficiency microwave attenuation with multifunctional capabilities have attracted considerable attention. Herein, porous Ti 3 C 2 T x was pre-constructed through H 2 O 2 etching and subsequently integrated with a dripping–squeezing–drying process and polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) encapsulation to fabricate multifunctional porous Ti 3 C 2 T x /melamine foam (MF)/PDMS composites. The porous Ti 3 C 2 T x forms a continuous conductive network within the three-dimensional MF scaffold, providing efficient pathways for conductive loss. Meanwhile, the surface functional groups and lattice defects of porous Ti 3 C 2 T x induce dipole polarization and defect polarization, respectively. In addition, the abundant heterogeneous interfaces among MF, porous Ti 3 C 2 T x , and PDMS enhance interfacial polarization, while the three-dimensional porous scaffold further prolongs the propagation paths of electromagnetic waves and promotes multiple reflection and scattering. Benefiting from the synergistic optimization of multiple loss mechanisms and impedance matching, the porous Ti 3 C 2 T x /MF/PDMS composite prepared using a porous Ti 3 C 2 T x dispersion with a concentration of 6 mg/mL (PTMP-6) achieves a minimum reflection loss ( RL min ) of −61.29 dB and an effective absorption bandwidth ( EAB ) of 6.62 GHz, covering the entire Ku band. Moreover, PTMP-6 delivers a radar cross-section (RCS) reduction of 38.9 dB m 2 under normal incidence (0°), demonstrating remarkable radar scattering suppression capability. The low thermal conductivity of PTMP-6 (0.047 W m −1 K −1 ) effectively suppresses heat transfer and endows the composite with favorable infrared stealth performance. Furthermore, the composite foam exhibits excellent compressive resilience and cycling stability over 200 cycles at 70% strain, together with a stable piezoresistive sensing response, favorable flame-retardant performance, and surface hydrophobicity with a water contact angle of 126.4°, demonstrating its potential for practical applications in complex electromagnetic environments. This work provides an effective design strategy for constructing broadband and highly efficient MXene-based microwave absorbing materials with multiple functions.

Designing transition metal phosphides (TMPs) with remarkable performance and high stability for hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) and oxygen evolution reaction (OER) plays a significant role in the commercial application of water splitting. Bimetallic phosphide (NiCoP) exhibits favorable electrocatalytic activity; however, it still suffers from intrinsic limitations such as insufficient intrinsic activity, inferior electrical conductivity, and a tendency toward particle agglomeration. To address these issues, a CeO 2 modified NiCoP particle catalyst (referred to as CeO 2 -NiCoP/Ti 3 C 2 T x ) loaded on a few layers of Ti 3 C 2 Tx MXene was synthesized using an HCl/LiF etching and hydrothermal phosphorization method. The CeO 2 -NiCoP/Ti 3 C 2 T x catalyst exhibits significantly lower overpotentials (287 mV for OER and 147 mV for HER) to achieve a current density of 10 mA cm −2 . Moreover, the catalyst demonstrates outstanding durability, with 93.6% and 84.6% retention of its activity after 27 h of OER and 25 h of HER, respectively. The favorable performance of CeO 2 -NiCoP/Ti 3 C 2 T x in HER and OER can be attributed to several advantages. Few-layer Ti 3 C 2 T x enhances the electrical conductivity of the material, and its large specific surface area prevents particle agglomeration, thus improving the material stability. The -O/-OH functional groups on the surface of Ti 3 C 2 T x endow the material with strong hydrophilicity, which facilitates the full contact between active sites and the electrolyte and accelerates the mass transfer and charge transfer kinetics. CeO 2 effectively optimizes the adsorption energy of NiCoP toward hydrogen intermediates by regulating the microelectronic structure of NiCoP, thereby boosting the HER kinetics.

Fluorosilicone rubber (FSR) has emerged as a promising matrix for actuator composites, while the trade-off between dielectric performance and mechanical robustness restricts its practical applications. Herein, we report a series of FSR/Ti 3 C 2 T x MXene composites modified with nano-sized BaTiO 3 (nBT) and micro-sized BaTiO 3 (μBT) to investigate the size-dependent effects of BaTiO 3 on composite performance. Owing to the coordination effect between MXene and BaTiO 3 , uniform dispersion of fillers was achieved, and the composites exhibited thermal stability exceeding 400°C. The FSR/MXene composite with 8 phr (parts per hundred rubber) nBT showed a tensile strength of 486 kPa, elongation at break of 194%, and elastic modulus of 356 kPa, superior to the μBT-modified composite. It also possessed a higher dielectric constant (12.85 at 10 3 Hz) and lower dielectric loss (0.00522) than μBT-modified counterparts, attributed to stronger interfacial polarization and less particle agglomeration. Notably, an actuated strain of 19.58% at 45 kV mm −1 was achieved, 35.7% higher than the μBT-modified composite. This work reveals that BaTiO 3 particle size significantly regulates the synergistic interaction between ceramic particles and conductive MXene, providing a feasible strategy for designing high-performance FSR-based composites toward soft actuator and sensor applications.
